Everyone who loved Kell Woods’ After the Woods will love her new book Upon A Starlit Tide. Couldn’t put it down and I loved every bit of it.

I honestly don’t know why this guy has a career. He’s not even funny.- 56 replies

So I only now just found out that poor little Dina in “God Bless the Child” was played by Michelle Trachtenberg, who just died this week. It was one of her first roles, and all she did was just die. 😭😭😭😭

Speculation is rising that maybe he just died and she killed herself. I don’t know if that’s the case, but this just keeps getting more awful.- 4.2k replies

Good for Zelenskyy for not cowing. That’s the only positive thing I can say. Everything else is a certain four-lettered word I can’t utter in this forum.

Gene Hackman passing away reminded me of one of his most notable scenes in Mississippi Burning, which is pretty relevant right now:

I will always maintain that knowing Joss Whedon is a sexist jerk puts all of the show’s characterization in a new light. Would Dawn have been written any differently with someone else in charge and not a misogynistic asshole who was bullying Michelle and countless others behind the scenes? We’ll never know.

And the point is, I wouldn’t did any of those things for a friend unless they asked me. I did send a care package to a (now former) friend in Chicago when they had COVID, but that was only because it was Christmas. I’m glad I’m not crazy for being so annoyed at this coworker “suggesting” I do thing things, then acting like I’m weird for not immediately volunteering to do it. It’s like Carrie Bradshaw expecting Charlotte to offer money to loan then getting mad when she doesn’t. -
I am sympathetic to all that, but that doesn’t make Shaw’s actions any less unethical. And just because the victim wasn’t a saint doesn’t make him or his family a less deserving of justice.

In light of Michelle Trachtenberg’s horrible and untimely passing, I will say once and for all: Dawn Summers deserved better from both the writers and the fans. All her whiny and obnoxious moments can be chalked up to Whedon originally wanting a little girl to be cast, and staying in that mindset because he hates teenage girls. He acted shocked that fans hated Dawn, paying lip service to defending her publicly while privately ensuring that the writers continued to write her as bratty (while bullying Michelle behind the scenes). And despite her many flaws, she still didn’t deserve the vitriol from fans. It’s only now some of them are stating to wake up and realize that there were other characters that deserved the hate more.

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"

Today I was chatting with a coworker about how I cancelled lunch plans with a new friend because she was sick. Coworker suddenly asks if I volunteered to bring soup or whatever to said friend, which I felt was a weird question. When I said no, she wanted to know why. Uh, well, because I’ve barely known this girl that long and even if she did, she had her own family to run errands for her if she needs it. If I didn’t volunteer to do that, that doesn’t make me a bad person or a bad friend, does it? I’m sorry, but people who feel obligated to go so extra like that annoy me. And I don’t need to be back in a friendship where I go above and beyond for the person, that didn’t end so well for me. -
Well, Nolan was right in calling out Shaw for denying the victims justice. We don’t need another version of Olivia on this show.

I’m crying with you. Update on Gene Hackman: there was no gas leak. Or at least no evidence of it. Either way, this is spooky… -

I really hope this was an accident. Gene Hackman was one of the greats. He’s done too many shows to list properly, but he brought full camp as Lex Luthor.- 4.2k replies

People had been making nasty comments on her Instagram because of how thin and tired she looked, which forced to come forward about said liver transplant. I fucking hate social media.- 4.2k replies

I can’t believe it. This is so awful. I loved her ever since Harriet the Spy, and even though Dawn could be annoying in Buffy, we now know that she was done dirty by Whedon and his offscreen bullying to the point where he wasn’t allowed in the same room with her. (and she sure as shit deserved better than to end up with fucking Xander in the comics 🤮🤮🤮🤮) RIP Michelle. -

Yes, it was so lame. Never underestimate the stupidity and fragility of the petty male ego. -
Of course the Smiths are so trashy that they’ll overshadow the fact that the house used to be a brothel—which Stan of course faked all along. Laughed my ass off at Steve putting a bra on his pillow. Only Roger would go through so much to sell encyclopedias to one old lady. And of course she wound up already owning them.

Except, true to form, Musk posted that exact same post to act like he and his ilk are the resistance. He and Trump ruin everything.

Then again, his supporters called themselves “Les Deplorables” to own the libs and Play the Victim yet again, so who knows? Adding in my two cents about working from home, it didn’t really work for me, but that’s because my job requires to deliver the mail, so I had to go into the office twice a week just to retrieve and scan the mail, then go home to in order to email said scanned mail to everyone (I didn’t have a laptop, I had to bring my whole work computer home). Being the office is easier because at least I can do everything in one place. But that was MY experience. That doesn’t mean I think everyone should work in the office. Sure I miss other people being around as much, but my Covid paranoid ass kind of likes the peace and quiet in the office building.

I like swans—from a distance. Having them at a wedding is just stupid. I could have forgiven everything if poor George wasn’t prevented from attending the reception. I didn’t find that part funny at all, it was just cruel and unfair and he didn’t deserve it.

I know. Like I posted back in November, it has haunted me when I first heard it because I was already a mess over things, and now I can’t stop listening to it. Im a glutton for punishment. They wouldn’t have released that video of Jeremy if there wasn’t a new recording in the works. I need to hear him do the final song so badly.
