Love Island premieres on July 9 and will air five nights a week (Monday – Friday), before concluding on Aug. 7

https://ew.com/tv/2019/05/22/love-island-us-version-premiere-cbs/

Love Island features a group of single “Islanders” coming together in a stunning villa in Fiji, ready to embark on a summer of love, friendships and, ultimately, relationships. Every few days the Islanders must couple-up – those who fail to find a partner to couple up with risk being dumped from the island. Islanders are on the lookout for romance, but the road to love doesn’t always run smoothly. Challenges abound with new Islander arrivals and dramatic twists as friendships and relationships form. In addition to choosing their partners wisely, Islanders must also win the hearts of viewers who have the opportunity to shape events on screen and ultimately crown one lucky couple the winner, who will then have the chance to walk away with both love and the cash prize.

Love Island for Beginners:  Like Idol and Big Brother before it, Love Island USA is expected to folow the blueprint of its British mothership, at least to start. Whether it will be forced to course correct in future seasons (as Big Brother did after an almost disastrous first US season, remains to be seen)

LOL I just had a vision, and boy, did it ever feel real.

I am going to share vision with you, forum snark buddies, just in case…  while watching Love Island, you happen to overhear news that an older Canadian woman from Vancouver, B.C., recently joined the Love Island’s cast.

Now, the only way that could happen is if I won our “Drink When You Hear the word Like” contest, and am thoroughly soused, lol. (And I am pretty sure I had followed the Caro character).

@Ms Blue Jay brought up Love Island UK suicides. I had no idea reality shows had such a toll.

Love Island’s Mike Thalassitis and Sophie Gradon’s deaths among 38 suspected suicides linked to reality TV shows worldwide

Nearly 40 reality contestants are suspected to have died of suicide since 1986, among them Love Island's Mike Thalassitis, 26, and Sophie Gradon, 32

Updates on which couples are still together (hint, they all are). Though, it’s way too soon after the show for a real analysis. Several couples haven’t even had time to see each other again, let alone break up.

The oddest thing in the article was the part about Zac and Elizabeth getting their own show. What the hell would that even be about? Who would watch that? Happy they seemed to connect on the show, but they’re so dull. And there’s nothing they do to build a show around them (how some couples do something in real estate or design or something). Are we going to watch Zac bag groceries? Start a fledgling modeling career?

Well, I mean...it's only been about a week since the show ended. I think seeing a Where Are They Now segment in a month is more telling. They're not going to admit that they're broken up a week after the finale. If a couple is broken up this quickly after the show, of course they'll fake their relationship for a few weeks.

Zac/Elizabeth aren't getting their own show. No way, especially since they barely got screentime on the show to begin with.

This is an international newspaper? Yeah, in the UK the Islanders can be considered legit celebrities and many of them do move on to actual industry jobs and more reality slots.

here, I cannot imagine anyone caring. At all. Maybe (maybe) one of the couples will show up on Amazing Race, like Winston showed up on LI. That’s the limit of it though.

I was focusing on other CBS shows for the network synergy. Similar to how random Bachelor/ette cast members end up on DWTS.

I think it's a good possibility since Big Brother and American Ninja Warrior people have already shown up on The Challenge (& at least one Bachelor/ette contestant has been on Ex on the Beach).  How else will the fame whores keep themselves in the public eye and keep the coins rolling in?

They were the two most beautiful people on the show.
Both could be stars and that makes for a powerful couple.
Any commercial starring them will have viral potential;
"Did you know that they are an actual couple?" people will whisper.
Don't forget, Elizabeth is an Advertising Executive in NYC.

Both speak well, so they have more than just "model" potential.

People love a rags to riches story.
How will Zac react to having money and fame, after being a checkout boy?
Liz wants him just as he is. Too bad, he's going through big changes.
Will she still love the new successful Zac, or does she need a helpless puppy to love?
I will definitely watch a show featuring them.

I won't even look at the Kyra video.
I find her to be extremely repulsive.

As hard as the producers and participants try to create fake scenarios in these reality shows, sooner or later, people's real character shows through.

I'd rather watch paint dry than watch Zac and Elizabeth.

Haha. I love that this (short and to the point) post immediately follows an elaborate post about the opposite. I’m with you, though. While pretty, they were extremely boring, to the point that the other cast members thought so. And I don’t think either of them can form two intelligent sentences.

I think they've been done for a while, and held the info until Johnny and Cely announced their breakup. And even that assumes they were really together to begin with - personally I only got a friend vibe but I know mileage varies on that.

I'm shocked, SHOCKED, I tell ya!  🤣

So Justine is a model and go-go dancer?  I thought go-go dancing was a thing of the past.

It's not a thing in these plague times, but at least one local club here has them for DJ nights. They're up on tall boxes on the dance floor, scantily clad, great dancers, and best part: equal opportunity (male and female dancers).

So who’s left as a couple? Just the insane, awful couple everybody hoped would stay broken up but ended up together again? I don’t even remember their names or have the energy to look it up.
