Wouldofshouldof May 9, 2017 Share May 9, 2017 Not sure where this is more appropriate - Outlander in the Media? The Cast (Author) in Other Roles? Several of my favorite authors have written for a crime fiction anthology series, including Michael Connelly, Lee Child, J.A. Jance and J.D. Robb. The books contain short stories, each co-written by 2 authors, and it's fun to read the stories and be able to pick out the voices of the authors I'm familiar with. I was excited to see the newest book in the series, Matchup, includes none other than Herself, paired up with Steve Berry. They're not always a man/woman pairing - this one seems to be. It's out June 13. https://www.amazon.com/MatchUp-Lee-Child-ebook/dp/B01LLXCH00/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1494346775&sr=8-1&keywords=matchup+lee+child Link to comment

Cheers! https://twitter.com/caitrionambalfe/status/875689266935992320 BTW I'm guessing the thing they're standing in is a warm-up pool used for scenes where the actor is required to be soaking wet. Here's a different tweet showing Cait in the same pool earlier that day. https://twitter.com/OutlanderTVNews/status/875660249834946561 So if you've read the book you can guess what scene or scenes they were filming. Here's Sam's tweet from earlier that day. https://twitter.com/SamHeughan/status/875569814260994048 I dunno about that tri-corner hat . . . Hmmmm. I've just spotted that others have figured out how to imbed a twitter image in this board. Let's see if I can figure out how to do it too. Ooooh it worked. Aren't the colors in that photo AMAZING! Nidratime July 3, 2017 Share July 3, 2017 Darn. Just saw a tweet from Anne Kenney that she won't be writing for Season 4. She says she's off to look for new challenges.https://twitter.com/ankenneyy/status/881956296949354496 Link to comment
Petunia846 July 3, 2017 Share July 3, 2017 Saw that too. It's a shame, but I did catch her say most of the S4 writers are women, so that gives me some hope. Frankly all I really care about writing-wise is if Moore stays out of it as much as possible. (The elements I hate inevitably turn out to be his ideas...) Link to comment

toolazy July 5, 2017 Share July 5, 2017 According to Twitter, Anne Kenney wrote 3.02. Link to comment
Nidratime July 5, 2017 Share July 5, 2017 Anne Kenney said on twitter that she only wrote episode 3.02 of this coming season. If she commented on any other episode, it might be that she was the supervising producer for that block. Remember, the writer/producers take turns supervising the filming of a block of two or so episodes and they are responsible for on-the-fly rewrites at that time. These episodes may not be ones they, themselves, wrote. Outlander hired at least four -- I believe -- new writers after season 2 and I'm sure they've been involved in writing episodes for season 3. With Ron involved in another project, probably splitting his time, with Ira Behr and his writing assistant Richard Kahan gone, and with Diana not contributing an episode, they needed a batch of newbies to the show for this season. While that changeover might seem like a lot, we have to remember that this show was not created, whole cloth, by Ron Moore or a writing team. This is Diana's work and they're generally following her blueprint. When a show's creator and/or original showrunner is busy or leaves, there's always a danger the show will never be the same, but I think that's far more of a problem when it comes to shows that are the original vision of that showrunner and there's no book or "bible" to follow to sustain that vision. We also have to remember that Matt Roberts along with Maril Davis were two of the earliest and biggest fans of the books and they are still very much involved. In fact, I'm guessing that Matt has been taking over showrunner duties from Ron when he's not available, but that's just a guess. 4 Link to comment

Ron Moore, Maril Davis and Diana Gabaldon are all attending the panel. http://tvline.com/2017/07/06/outlander-comic-con-2017-panel-date-time-where/ and STARZ will supposely put up a video from the event for all fans to see. I know we're a ways away from Season 4, but this gets me excited. I've been guessing/hoping one of the screen tests for Roger Spoiler was the verbal and physical exchange between him and Jamie in DoA, when Roger returns for Bree and Jemmy. I love imagining Rik and Sam going toe-to-toe - neither of them budging an inch. I'm really excited to see the chemistry between those two guys, even when it's the usual SDCC panel stuff. Glaze Crazy July 13, 2017 Share July 13, 2017 (edited) I'm not familiar with the Boston skyline, but could it possibly be Edinburgh? Just for the Scotland connection to the stones. Or maybe Inverness, which is where Roger is when Claire and Brianna visit and closer to Craig na Dun and Culloden. Edit with !!light bulb!! over my head: In the first episode Claire asks about the lights of Inverness on her first night in the past. It wasn't as big of a city 200 years ago. Petunia846 July 13, 2017 Share July 13, 2017 Well, I felt *forced* to go back and rewatch the promo clip over and over again. ;P And I looked at pictures of Boston's skyline, and I think that's it. Especially because of that one clocktower you can see really well towards the end. It's not Boston's modern skyline, but of course it wouldn't be. The Outlander folks are clever like that. And a bit of snark, and I've mentioned this before, but Caitriona looked so frumpy. toolazy July 23, 2017 Share July 23, 2017 Tobias always looked like that, to me. But if he's over this, who can blame him? His part is pretty much done. As for Cait, I thought she looked really cute in the tank and long pleated skirt. She looked very naturally beautiful - in a kind of 70's way. The only thing she wore that I disliked was the dress that she wore to the party on Saturday night. It was weirdly frumpy. Link to comment

Yes, Toolazy, you are right! Wonder why they had him attend in the first place instead of having someone who has a bigger part in the coming seasons, like David Berry or the guy playing adult Fergus. But I suppose it would be kind of weird to leave him out, though, as he is an integral part of S3. And, I'm sorry, but can they just leave Diana home next time? 3 Link to comment

I'm pretty sure David wasn't available this year because of his other show filming in Oz and the recent birth of his son. As Ron stated several times over SDCC, this season and Voyager are a major pivot in the overall story of Outlander as the story that began in the first novel/season mostly conclude (Frank/Black Jack) and new stories/characters are introduced and take the stage going forward. The other thing that keeps getting media mentions is Starz's decision to have their booth this year in the form of the Print Shop. That and the Vikings funeral for Rangar in the bay. Those two things probably worth the price of admission. Link to comment

Tobias is a pretty big star and definitely considered the 3rd lead in the show so it's no surprise to me that he was on the panel (as opposed to actors playing characters that we haven't met yet). It's been made pretty clear that there is more of Frank in season 3 than there is in the book and of course Black Jack is also in season 3. As for Tobias being "over" appearing at SDCC panels and the like -- I just think it's that Tobias is naturally more subdued than either Sam or Cait. He never plays exuberant characters -- they are always cool & calculating (or -- as in the case of Edmure Tully -- a bit of a fuck-up). I think that's because Tobias is naturally reserved -- he's got that stereotypical upper-class British stiff-upper-lip thing going on. That being said -- I think he has fun at these conventions. He's just not a bubbly guy. Edited July 23, 2017 by WatchrTina 1 Link to comment

Frank may not play as big of a roll after S3, Spoiler but there's still lots of flashbacks and stuff we learn about Frank in later books, not only from Claire, but from Brianna too --plus if they delve into any of the story from the novellas, Spoiler Frank has something to do with a young Roger and apparently knew Roger's father a bit. And, he was doing research we never saw first hand in the books too and is aware of the conspiracy that comes forward in the later books. TBH, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't pepper in a bit of Frank in every season.
