Sharon touching Carrie Ann's breast when the topic was about Harvey Weinstein and unwanted touching....all kinds of inappropriate. The other cohosts were clearly uncomfortable.  Also, it demonstrated what happens between a high-powered exec and many women in the business....the woman will laugh it off so as not to make the man feel uncomfortable.

Did anyone else think Carrie Ann was talking about In Living Color yesterday?  She said about something about getting locked in a closet at a cast party by an Executive Producer's girlfriend then them being the only way she could get home and that they wanted a threesome. Then kinda said something about worrying about if she'd be in front or back on the show after refusing them.

I haven't watched today's show yet. That Sharon touching someone's boob or other inappropriate area doesn't surprise me at all. She comes off like a predator pretty much all the time.

Today, they were talking about the kerfuffle between the first Mrs. Trump and the one that is now the first Lady.

I'm confused. I haven't seen Death Becomes Her in years and what I do remember is that Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn were the main actresses, but who was the third woman Sharon was referring to?

And it's not the first time Sharon's inappropriately touched someone on the show. A few years ago Naomi Campbell was a guest and Sharon stood behind her while groping her breasts at the end of the show. I wouldn't have blamed Naomi if she'd given Sharon a good smack for that crap.

I did too. She was very careful not to name or hint at who the person was, but I figured it was someone from that show.

They should address this tomorrow: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/oct/10/i-am-woman-racist-dove-ad-not-a-victim.

She was basically making shots about her plastic surgery.   She looked awful..  Remember in the movie, the main characters were trying to stay young via a magic potion...

I wouldn't go that far. lol

Seriously, they're both beasts.

Because this show hardly ever has a turnover (unlike The View) does anyone know how they're going to handle Aisha's replacement?  Will they try out a few women like Garcelle and Carrie Ann?  Is there a set date?  Or do they play it by ear?

I got the plastic surgery part of it, but Sharon said there was a third woman when the others mentioned Goldie and Meryl being in it. Eh, she talks nonsense most of the time anyway. Lol.

Sheryl was hired immediately before season 2 and I remember Aisha getting the gig a month after, but since they're only down one host and not two, I think they're taking their time trying out potential hosts. I didn't know much about Carrie Ann outside of DWTS, but like Garcelle, she fits in well. I like her laugh.

I really like Garcelle . She is originally from Haiti, so, she brings another perspective about life.

Carrie Ann is back tomorrow (YAY!) and Wednesday and Michelle Williams from Destiny's Child fills in on Wednesday. Not too sure how I feel about Michelle. She seems nice and all, but she talks too much sometimes.

Oh, I'll try to find the link, but the other day I saw an interview with Julie where she said a new co-host will be announced by Thanksgiving. December at the latest.

Not to be mean, but, Michelle brings nothing to the table. I also include her time on Destiny's child.   I have seen her on the view and the real and she is boring. I could care less about her perspective about life, politics, social justice.  She brings nothing substantive in my humble opinion.  She tries so hard to be funny.  I hate to be overly critical of her, but, I would cry if she was picked over Garcelle.

  • Love 2

At this point the only guest hosts that I would like to make permanent are either Garcelle or Carrie Ann. Or maybe they could alternate weeks? No one else has even made an impression on me. I will say that they have a better selection of potentials than the last time they did this. I still shudder in horror at the rumored possibility that Kris Jenner was going to get a seat at the table. Just no.

No need to apologize. Speak your mind, girl. :) The "tries too hard to be funny" bit is what annoys me most about her. She needs to calm down and dial it down. The good news is Garcelle's back on Thursday!

You know, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Kris when she guest hosted for a month. Certainly didn't want her as a permanent host (and still don't), but she was enjoyable. Can't say the same for that talk show she had a few years back. I watched about 5 minutes of it and flipped the channel.

So....any ideas on why Sara Sat next to Julie on Tuesday's show, but was back to her usual spot on today's show?  I thought that maybe they were moving her up to second chair and intending on putting the new host between Sharon and Sheryl. But then it was back to her old spot today.

Maybe they were trying something new? Carrie Ann looked different in the face when they had her in Sara's spot. It may have been because she was wearing her hair differently too. Sara didn't seem to be that comfortable in a new spot either so maybe she said she wanted to switch back?

I didn't enjoy Michelle. I did feel bad for her when she described how bad her depression got at one point though. I don't remember her speaking voice being that annoying.

She was okay, but, she looked beautiful. She still looks the same. She has not aged at all.. I was happy that she made it a point to say that mental illness needs to be taken seriously.

on todays show julie was telling a story about her friend who would not come to her wedding because she does not get on a plane unless the whole family does also. this is in case the plane goes down, so the kids would not be orphaned.  i was like, wtf!! are you mad?!  and julie just thought this was fine, no one else commented on it either. so she is saying her friend would rather her children die a possible terrifying, fiery death than be raised by someone else. someone needs to speak to a therapist pronto. not even kidding.  we all die together children, you can not Iive , literally, without your parents ! the ultimate in controlling behavior. wow just wow. i feel terrible for those children.

what does everyone think of this? it was one of the most disturbing things i have heard on this show lately.

It was random and through parts of the show off for me personally. Now all we need is for Garcelle to be given the second seat and we're really in business.

She wasn't as overly chatty as usual, which I liked. I was sorry to hear about her depression, but also glad that she spoke about it and is helping others who are struggling. I wasn't surprised to hear that Matthew Knowles was dismissive when she first came to him about it.

That reminds me of a co-host on a similar show in the UK called Loose Women (no, they're not a bunch of harlots! ;)) who named her daughter Ciara, but it's pronounced the Irish way: Keer ah. People get it wrong all the time and now she wishes she'd spelled it the Irish way to begin with.

Michelle is guest hosting again on Monday and Tuesday and Mario Lopez is filling in on Tuesday so I'm guessing Julie's gone (finger's crossed it's Sharon, but it probably won't be). Wednesday Carrie Ann and Boris Kodjoe fill in, but I don't know about Thursday and Friday.

I meant to say she wished she'd spelled it Kiera so people wouldn't make the mistake of pronouncing it "see-air-uh". Either way, it's a beautiful name. Don't you hate it when people add all these unnecessary letters to their kid's name? Their name is Britney or Brittany, but their parents throw in extra t's and i's and e's and part of a social security number.

What is up with Sara sitting next to Julie again? Please pick a seat and stick it with it, producers.

I hated the way they talked about the Justin and Janet Super Bowl incident on Monday. Michelle tried to speak up about how Janet got treated so much differently then Justin and was basically brushed off. Julie made it sound like all Janet had to do was apologize and things would have been better for her. She did apologize multiple times and in multiple ways.

P.S. Mario Lopez makes me want to punch him in the face. He's only tolerable in small doses.

This is a good article from Billboard  that describes all that Janet did afterwards and how it didn't help her at all. Her album flopped and she disappeared for years afterwards. I'm quoting a bit of it below.

Quote

On the Monday after the incident at Super Bowl Sunday, CBS had Jackson release a written statement apologizing, taking full blame for what they were now calling an unfortunate "accident". “The decision to have a costume reveal at the end of my halftime show performance was made after final rehearsals. MTV was completely unaware of it. It was not my intention that it go as far as it did. I apologize to anyone offended – including the audience, MTV, CBS and the NFL.” Then on Tuesday, the networks asked Jackson to tape and release a video apology, reiterating her decision to change up the performance.

"My decision to change the Super Bowl performance was made after the final rehearsal," Jackson said in her televised statement. "MTV, CBS, [and] the NFL had no knowledge of this whatsoever and unfortunately, the whole thing went wrong in the end. I am really sorry if I offended anyone, that was truly not my intention.”

But the public shaming of Jackson—to which the singer herself told USA Today was “truly embarrassing”—didn’t stop. The Grammy’s were the following week, which both Timberlake and Jackson were scheduled to present and perform at, but Jackson was outright banned from the event, despite previous assurances from the Academy that both would attend, saying "there's such a big difference...to putting a stage on Astroturf than an appearance at the Grammys." Timberlake, on the other hand, attended and was allowed to perform. Clear Channel Communications, which owned Infinity Broadcasting and Viacom (MTV and CBS), blacklisted all of Jackson’s singles and music videos, banning her music from all the TV channels and radio stations the company owned, stifling airplay and making her new album, Damita Jo, her lowest-selling album since 1984. The disgraced singer was forced to resign from a set movie deal she had just signed, and even a statue of Mickey Mouse wearing Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation” costume was dismantled following continued backlash.

My gosh, all that over a bare breast.  Seems so innocent compared to what airs on the nightly news these days.  I had no idea there was such a backlash.  I was 40 in 2004, I remember it happening, but since I'm neither a football fan or a Janet/Justin fan I didn't follow the story in the press.  I do remember the incident starting the use of the term "wardrobe malfunction".

Plus, in the Black community, it was not lost on us that Janet was castigated unfairly, while Justin was rewarded after the incident.  Justin never defended Janet, as he should have.  I don't think that Julie wanted to Michele or Sheryl to go there.  Sheryl was uncharacteristically very quiet about the whole thing.  She held back from giving out her opinion.

I'm a Canadian & love Shania, but today she sounded very nasal when she was speaking, I thought she had a sinus infection, but when she sang, she was fine!!!???

I'm not sure if it had to do with the illness that caused her voice issues or not but it was very, very noticeable.  I loved seeing her though she had some great hits back in the day.  Singing along to her performance of "That Don't Impress Me Much" was a good trip down memory lane.  I do prefer her with darker hair though.

It was over ridiculously over the top and like Apprentice said, there was definitely a racial element involved as well. Justin was the one who exposed Janet's breast, but got off scot free. He even pointed that out in an interview a few years later.

The birthday tweets for Sheryl were sweet, but even sweeter? No Sharon for the last few days.

I'm looking forward to the Lip Sync Battle show they put on every Halloween, but Julie needs to be someone other than Madonna for once and it would be nice to see Sheryl be a female performer instead of a man. I can totally see her as Missy Elliott. Alas, no Aisha to be Grace Jones. *sniffle*

I think Carrie Ann might have the job tho!

If The Real ever decides to hire a fifth co-host, I'd love to see Eve or Monica get it.

Carrie Ann taking part in the Halloween show has me thinking she's got the job too and I'm glad (she also deserved the award for the best performance). I just hate that Garcelle can't be hired as well or at least be a fill-in host like Carnie or Pat Harvey.

I catch segments of the show occasionally during lunch. Today they were talking about a photo of Madonna flying coach (on a 2 hour flight) and how that meant she was just a "regular" person pinching pennies even though she is worth about $8.5 mil, or maybe there was no 1st class or business class seat available. But the seat between Madonna and the other passenger was empty. I'd be willing to bet the price of my next coach plane fare that Madonna paid for the empty seat too.

My episode guides don't feature any of the guests or guest hosts this week, but I'm guessing we won't see Garcelle for another week or so? I did see a promo for Ozzy and Jack as guests Wednesday. I don't mind Jack, but if Ozzy starts mumbling on and on about Sharon being the love of his life and the other co-hosts kiss their asses, I swear I'll scream.

Lol. Monica reminds me of a reverend sometimes, but it's part of why I like her. She doesn't need to jump around and make a show to get attention and when she shares her opinion she just shares it and if folks don't agree with her, that's cool. She's laidback without being boring (to me).
