Originally I thought Maddie had just faded from Kody's life, but from statements like this and his claims about the wedding, it sound like there was some drama after all.  I may criticize Maddie for lack of follow-through, but she does seem to step up in protecting her kids from family drama.

She still appears in pictures with Logan and Michelle.  I have no idea why they aren’t together anymore. I do know she is a travel nurse and at one point was in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Here’s a couple of recent ones:

I'm just thinking about the kids -- which ones participate in the show and which ones don't.

We know Logan wants nothing to do with the show. We've heard that about Maddie in the past, but that seems to be changing.

Leon and their Audrey seemed willing to be on the show up until Covid, but that was before they came out as trans. I suspect Leon doesn't want anything to do with the show, now. It seems like Leon has maybe asked Meri not to talk about them on the show. I think Leon is in contact with both Meri, and with all their Brown siblings (and even with Janelle and Christine).

Most of Christine's kids seem to have decided to participate more than before the "divorce" — I imagine in an effort to help their mother stay relevant to the show. I think this is also why we Janelle's kids (minus Logan). The kids want to help their mom to keep pulling in the TLC bucks while they can. If so, that's actually pretty sweet.

Also, I think Mykelti and Madison are both selling MLM products, and so both are trying to stay relevant online, which is probably part of their motive for being on the show.

Gwendlyn ...

Spoiler

let production film her engagement party, but then got mad that her whole engagement party became about Kody and David. I don't know if we'll see much of her on the show any more.

I think Aurora and Breanna participate when their parents tell them to. I think Sol and Ari don't have much of a choice, but it seems Robyn and Kody have been limiting how much they're on the show, in recent seasons.

I think Dayton might be taking a page out of Logan's book. He wasn't even in the Christmas clips in the most recent episode. I think he is Done.

I love looking in this thread and seeing pictures of the siblings together.  That they are so close is testament to their mothers, but mostly to themselves.  Having a narcissist for a father, it could've gone very bad with everyone competing for crumbs of Kody's attention, jealousy, etc.  I will never, ever understand how that man - father to such amazing human beings - seems to want nothing to do with them.

I think having each other growing up was a huge help in coping with having minimal attention from their dad. Yes, I'm sure there was jealousy, but the OG13 grew up together and didn't know anything different. It was what it was. And no matter what, they had the moms and each other. They still do.

Taking the Truely discussion from the episode thread to here.

I don't think we are trying to diagnose Truely: we're merely commenting on what we see. And yes, that behaviour is odd and definitely unacceptable at times.

And that leads me to the actual reason for writing this post: I think that a lot of Truely's behaviour can be attributed to parenting and growing up as the youngest child that gets away with everything with no older siblings living in the house to correct inappropriate behaviour.

Christine has never been the one to discipline her kids or be actively parenting her kids. She could, and should have said something to Truely when she pushed David aside a few times and when she bit him. (By the way, kids a lot younger than Truely know that biting someone is crossing a huge line!)  She should have said something to Paedon and Tony about their disrespectful comments, but she didn't. In fact, I hardly ever heard her calling out Truely's behaviour, or that of the others for that matter.

Truely doesn't have a huge team of siblings to show her her place when necessary. She also doesn't have Meri who was good at setting boundaries and pointing out a lack of respect or unacceptable behaviour. And when mom doesn't do these things either, then how is Truely supposed to know what behaviour is acceptable and respectful and what not?

Speaking of Christine's parenting style, remember the episode when Christine told Gwen to run and jump in the Christmas tree and she diid it? Christine just laughed like it was so funny.

That wasn’t Gwen, it was Ysabel.

Does Truley go to school, like a public school with other kids her age?  Or is she "home schooled".  Asking because she probably observes some different behaviors there and there are teachers who might say "Truley this is math time in our seats" for example.  Or whatever teachers might say.  Maybe Truley is mostly fine in other situations except for the ones captured by the crew for the teevee show? When I say mostly fine I mean in Christine's world of parenting, including encouraging jumping into a Christmas tree.

Not to mention the rift between Gwen and Paedon so deep that they cannot be in the same room together, and this goes way back to the episode where the Browns were going to a plyg march in Utah.  Robyn stayed behind with some of the kids and I remember Christine saying that if Paedon went to the march, Gwen would have to stay home with Robyn.  Whatever happened between Gwen and Paedon started when they were quite young.

It's entirely possible that the two siblings just simply can't stand each other, but I think it shows that Christine's house probably lacked discipline.  And I don't put all the blame on Christine's shoulders.  I have two kids and when they were young, I did have to play the "wait until your dad gets home" card more than once.  Christine didn't have that, and I can see where she'd be even more permissive than maybe she should have been when her kids acted up, since she had zero backup and was trying to be the fun parent to make up for the fact that her kids were neglected by Kody.

I recall that episode. The discussion wasn't that Gwen and Paedon couldn't be together. Mommy Aspen wasn't there, and Christine didn't want to leave Paedon in charge of a younger sibling.

Based on what we see and think we know, it's logical to conclude that Christine is fairly permissive, as some parents are.

Having grown up in a loving but ultra-strict family, I went into parenthood knowing that when I erred, it would be on the side of too permissive, never too strict; that was a conscious choice I made.  What leads Christine to parent her way is most likely complicated and deep-rooted, but I believe she is always well-intentioned where her kids are concerned.

I thought that Paedon had physically abused Gwendolyn and that was why she refused to be alone with him. As adults, Paedon has also said offensive things about the LGBTQ community, of which Gwen is a member. Honestly, from what I know about him, I don't want to be around him either.

I'm pretty sure that it wasn't the plyg march. I think Hunter (or one of the boys, but I think Hunter) had an away wrestling match.

According to Gwen, it's more than that she and Paedon can't stand each other.

No, it was. But it was brief. Christine gave one of those pointed looks, and said that she couldn't leave Gwendlyn home with Paedon (I also seem to recall that Grandma Annie was going to be home for at least part of the time -- it's when Christine's mom was living at her house).

Yeah. Gwendlyn made that pretty clear. She did once talk about how Paedon used to do this thing to hurt her (and I think Aurora). I don't know how to describe it. I might have posted about it in this thread, before. I'll look through old posts and see if I can find it.

Also though, when Gwen was doing her Patreon (she ended it right after Garrison died), she couldn't even watch Paedon's scenes on the show. She would get visibly upset. She'd sort of tear up and sort of freeze. I remember one time, Bea was offscreen, but her hand came into view, and she sort of laid it on Gwendlyn's hand, to calm her. Eventually, Gwen started fast-forwarding through any Paedon scenes.

Paedon has admitting to having hit her. He didn't say he only hit her once, but that's how the fandom has taken what he did say.

Who knows, with any of these people.
