She always seemed so reliable. I'm glad she was well loved by her DCC sisters!

So is VK trying to make herself known as a choreographer?  Saw her new SM tags of Kalina Koreo.  Also what’s the deal with all the Celsius and pink straw obsession?  Was that how she lost weight?? She seems to be posting less now?  And what is TK up to now?

If she's trying, she doesn't seem to be succeeding.  Evidently, she was "teaching" some of Maddie Massengill's choreography (I think it was some she'd done for the DCC, but it could be some of her own personal stuff) and Victoria was saying it was something she had come up with instead of giving Maddie credit for it.  Maddie had reached out to her and told her to stop teaching it, but Victoria didn't.  No one would have known if someone hadn't posted a video of it and Maddie called Victoria out for it.  When someone asked her why she hadn't reached out to Victoria about it privately, Maddie said she had, but Victoria didn't stop teaching it.

Rumor also has it that Judy and Kelli have asked Victoria to stop teaching DCC routines, but Victoria has refused (not sure if Victoria's trying to pass them off as routines she personally came up with or if she's truly teaching DCC stuff, but I'm leaning towards it being a combination of both reason).  If she keeps this up, I wouldn't be surprised if she (and possibly her mom) is issued a lawsuit.  If so, I doubt any dance company (Rockettes or otherwise) would touch her because they wouldn't want someone like that in the mix.

I watched it go down on TikTok.  A student of VK’s posted her video of doing Get Ready in which Maddie M. Choreographed in 2020 for the DCC squad.  Former and current DCC began commenting on this poor girls TikTok video things like we love this routine Maddie M. choreographed.  Maddie M. let the girl know VK didn’t get permission to use her choreography.  Some people in the comments accused DCC of illustrating their bully behaviors. Others, sided with MaddieM.  that VK shouldn’t teach Maddie M. choreography without consent.  Maddie was asked why she sought out a public forum to discuss the above.  Maddie M. said she did talk to VK about using her choreography.  Not sure about Judy and Kelli but on the Gloss Angeles podcast VK said they asked her not to teach Thunderstruck on her TikTok account.  Unclear if VK believed she could teach everything else?  Or, was she told not to teach DCC choreography?  Whatever the case, that dance is Maddie’s.  Maybe it was a miscommunication or misunderstanding.

I am inclined to believe that VK has just chosen to ignore those because she has a life where she is right and can do what she wants to do. She’s no longer a teenager and can use excuse if I didn’t know any better. For someone who’s been in the world as long as she has been, she would know that we acknowledge where we got the information from and it’s no different than in writing a paper. If you don’t site the original author then it’s called plagiarism. Although I do know people in other countries, feel that taking information from someone else and not giving her credit is just called flattery. Perhaps VK subscribes to that belief.

Not here in Europe though. It would 100% be classified as intellectual property infringement!

VK may be an adult, but I sincerely doubt whether she is bright enough to oversee the possible consequences of her actions. It’s not just a potential legal issue, but such actions will likely make future clients or dance teams reconsider hiring her as a dancer or choreographer.

I was just trying to be more circumspect but as a college professor, I have seen this happen with students who have a cultural background from Africa, where it is seen as flattery to take someone else’s words without giving them credit and use them in something you’ve written. Every culture is different about a lot of different things and this was just one of the ones that I ran into frequently.
