I will watch this episode because I want to know what happened to Carol (although I might not get to it tonight).  But my issue with the rest of the story isn't even the lather, rinse, repeat, but just the fact that one well-placed sniper would solve their Negan problem.

I found a compilation of promos for the next episode (3) that were new to me.

Daryl looks like he's in a prison camp (apparently it's The Sanctuary) being conditioned as one of Negan's henchmen. All the inmates wear white jumpsuits with a letter on the back and Daryl's is A.

Great.  More characters.

Yeah, and apparently Tara runs into a group of people whose community was decimated by Saviors. They're being referred to as "The Junkyard People" so far. So, it will be the Sanctuary, Alexandria, Hilltop, The Kingdom, and the Junkyard People.

Episode 7 is a bottle episode starring Tara and Heath. YAY (not).

Those parts are confirmed by spoilertv (generally very reliable).

Less reliable sources, but not unlikely: when Negan visits Alexandria he supposedly brings Daryl and humiliates him by making him play a big part in forcibly taking away supplies from Rick, while still dressed in his prisoner outfit. Negan runs the Sanctuary like a cult and it looks like they're going with the harem subplot and making Dwight the turncoat who rebels against Negan for messing with his girl.

Totally sketchy and unverified from random internet people comments from Reddit and elsewhere: Carl stows away in the truck back to the Sanctuary to help Daryl escape--but may form a strange bond with Negan first. Sasha or Daryl is turned and sent back to ASZ with a bag over their head so no one realizes they're infected until it's too late.

I actually forgot all about Tara.  lol

Looking at that Spoiler TV link, some comments there are speculating that maybe Dwight is sort of helping Daryl.  Which might explain why he "missed" him with the crossbow last season.  Because he feels some guilt over screwing him over after Daryl helped him in that boring episode in the woods.  That might be sort of interesting but it's hard to care.  I guess all these groups will join to resist Negan at some point, once Rick suffers the required amount of Indecisive Rick Angst.  Michonne really has her work cut out for her.

So the episode rundown seems to be
3:  Sanctuary
4:  Alexandria
5:  Hilltop
6:  ??
7:  Junk Yard People

Why, oh, why can't they incorporate these like a normal show?  I mean, they're ALL bottle episodes.

Yeah, I feel bad for her (fictional self). Like, this is what you have to deal with at the very beginning of your relationship? Ugh.

When we first got married, it was hard to deal with my husband after he lost an employee softball game.   "Two of my warriors are demolished and I almost cut our kid's arm off" is not a level of failure I'd want to handle.

Does anyone have intel on Daryl? It looks like they're making him a slave--is there a comic equivalent to this with another character?

This next episode, "The Cell", will be Daryl-centric.  From The Spoiling Dead Fans Army

Spoiler

Q&A Episode 7.3 - "The Cell"

1. How is Daryl treated at the Sanctuary?

For the most part, Daryl's treated like crap and is tortured. He's kept in a room the size of a closet with no light. Music blares 24/7, so he really can't sleep. And, he's fed dog-food sandwiches.

2. Does Daryl try to escape? If so, how?

Yes, 1 time. They intentionally leave the door to his cell unlocked, and he tries to escape then. Turns out it was only a test and a part of Negan trying to break him.

3. What happens during the car chase?

There is no car chase in this episode (I know the scene you're talking about, but it's not in this episode).

4. Does anyone die? How?

Yes, 1 of Dwight's friends. His friend tries to escape & Dwight has to go after him. But, he refuses to go back and so, Dwight shoots him.

5. What can you tell us about any of the new characters in this episode?

"Fat Joey" is one of Negan's top lieutenants and is the one who leaves Daryl's cell door unlocked. Daryl, thinking that Joey is just fat and stupid, falls for it and ends up being punished once he's caught. The only other character besides Joey we see alot of in this episode is Sherry. Lots and lots of Sherry.

6. What do we learn about the Sanctuary?

They bake their own bread, have chickens and livestock, and it's very well-fortified. It is surrounded by a walker "fence" or "wall" very similar to what we saw at La Colonia on FTWD. The people who are defiant and killed by Negan and the Saviors become part of the "fence."

7. Do we learn anything about Dwight and how he ended up back at the Sanctuary?

Yes, we get the full story. He basically decided to go back on his own, and for the most part, still feels he made the right decision. The story is told in part by Sherry, and then, the rest is told by Negan.

8. Do we learn more about Dr. Carson and why he's at the Sanctuary?

Not much except he's definitely drinking the Negan Kool-Aid. He believes in Negan and trusts him.

9. Does Daryl eat the dog food sandwiches?

Yes, at least until the very end. He throws the sandwich at Dwight in the final scenes of the episode.

I still haven't watched the premier episode, because gratuitous torture porn.  I did watch and enjoy episode 2 of Carol/Morgan/Ezekiel.  I may skip this third episode as well, because gratuitous torture porn.  I've run out of words to express my utter contempt and distate for Scott Gimple.

You're definitely not alone on that, SnarkyTart. I am desensitized to the violence (a podcast I was listening to today kind of summed it up for me--"Ever since they ate a motherfucker's leg right in front of him I can't be surprised anymore"), but the gratuitousness (is that a word?) bothers me. The way they've made JDM so cartoony that Ezekiel literally acting like a cartoon on purpose somehow seems LESS cartoony.

I am actually looking forward to Dwights demise much more than Negan.  Dwight put the arrow in whatshernames eye in an unprovoked ambush and has been a douche ever since he stole Daryls bow.  As for Daryls hair...  I have no opinion.

The Polaroid self-developing film cartridges are the Chevy pickups of the film world; they're pretty tolerant in terms of both storage time and storage temperature.  25 years is nothing to them, and I've seen 45-50 year old cartridges present serviceable images (albeit a little streaky).

If Negan's nimrods are using one of the old Polaroid One-Steps, they're more likely to have problems with dead batteries than dead film.  The One-Steps had their batteries built into the film pack - and unlike the film, the shelf life of the batteries wasn't all that great.  :)

That's true, but still, how many people have Polaroid cameras sitting around any more? It's not like you can readily get the film either. I used to have some Polaroid cameras. I might still have them in a box somewhere, but I don't have the film. Where would you find the film, even old film? In the ZA, the last thing I would grab on a supply run would be Polaroid film. Maybe one of the Hilltop peeps is a camera buff who has all sorts of stuff and Negan took half. It is a curious twist. I get why they have the Polaroids, but if you think too much about it...

Ugh, well the clip at the end of Talking Dead showed them.  Michonne sternly taking her katana and a hidden assault rifle out the door while Rick just stood there helplessly with his herpaderp ghost-Lori-on-the-phone face.  Blech, blergh, blah.

Spoiler

I don't know why this is forcing me to write within a spoiler tag, but spoiling the dead says Rick will be made to carry around Lucille for Negan while Daryl is paraded around in his ridiculous prison suit. Spencer and Rosita go on some kind of side errand as indicated in the trailers, as does Michonne and her giant gun. In episode 5 Sasha and Maggie are at the Hilltop, the baby is ok for now, and Carl and Enid are seen taking a car, presumably also to the Hilltop or to get Daryl.

I was thinking the same thing. I'd rather eat dog food than worms and acorns. He could have at least said "Thank you."

I can imagine people so hungry they'd eat a variety of non-appetizing things, but not worms. The thick coating of slime would have someone gagging violently even before the worm slithered halfway down their throats.

I guess that's how they haven't broken him. He's eaten worse. I didn't mind Beth, but some might say that he lived through her singing.

God, I need something to lighten me up a bit. This election night is just as horrifying as the last eighteen months or so.

And if that happens, I'm out of here. Carl saw what happened to Glen and Abraham. And Negan threatened to have Rick cut his arm off. I don't care if that's what happened in the comics. For me, it doesn't make sense for this Carl to think of Negan as anything but a monster. Negan bashed in Glen's head... and Carl is supposed to forget that? Really? That would be the final straw for me.

From The Spoiling Dead Fans Army.  Detailed spoilers for Episode 7.4 "Service"

Spoiler

Big thanks to our source!

Q&A Episode 7.4 "Service"

1. What is Michonne doing when she runs off on her own?

She has a sniper rifle hidden from everyone else, and is going out there for target practice using walkers.

2. Is anyone angry at Rick? If so, who?

Spencer is angry big time. Eric seems a little upset & asks Rick how he plans on getting them out of this.

3. Do they make graves for Glenn and Abe?

No, Father Gabriel makes a fake one for Maggie.

** Edit: They do dig 2 other empty graves (presumably for Abe and Glenn)

4. Negan shows up at the ASZ gates. Who does he meet first?

Spencer and Rosita were getting ready to leave ASZ to do some scavenging of sorts. Spencer doesn’t recognize Negan which annoys Negan. And after making such a great first impression, Negan thought his reputation would precede him. Expect some graphic novel lines from Negan.

5. Why is Lucille bloody?

Negan kills a single walker with it when he arrives at Alexandria.

6. Does anyone want to fight Negan? Who?

Carl definitely does and goes so far as to threaten Negan.

7. Does anyone die or get hurt? Who?

No, but Negan threatens to kill Olivia, and it comes close to happening.

8. What are Rosita and Spencer doing?

Dwight is there and insists that they go out and find Daryl's bike, which they both do.

9. Are there any conflicts at Alexandria when Negan arrives?

Yes. Carl shoots at one of the Saviors and then, threatens Negan after they insist on taking ALL of their medicine. And, Negan threatens to kill Olivia because 2 guns are missing from the armory that are on her inventory.

10. Why is Daryl there?

Basically just to torture Rick and to demonstrate to him that he has broken Daryl (and yes, Daryl, does appear to be broken or at least is doing a good job pretending to be).

Bonus:

There's a scene where Rick tells Michonne the story about Shane at the end and states that he knows that Judith isn't his, but he loves her anyways.

This is quite likey another episode I will miss (after #2 and #3). I don't get kicks out of watching even more of the main characters get (and stay) humiliated. I'm not some geeky comic-book lover (who's never interacted with real adults in a real conversation) that likes crushing their heros in their snotty little fingers.

I have no desire watching Dwight be Dwight or hearing Negan telling Rick that he just stuck his dick down his throat.

This is not must-see TV. I have some grout in my bathroom to clean.

Actually, what's hilarious is that I didn't specifically select that book.  I just grabbed for whatever was nearby to prop up the front of the camera (so you could read the 'Polaroid' on the front), and that book was the first thing at hand.  Almost didn't use it because I thought it might be a little over-the-top, but then I just decided "Nahhh, wtf".  :D

From The Spoiling Dead Fans Army, detailed spoilers for episode 7.5 "Go Getters"

Spoiler

Big thanks to our source!!

Q&A Episode 7.5 Go Getters"

1. What's wrong with Maggie? Is the baby ok?

The baby is fine. What had happened was a small portion of the placenta had separated from the uterine wall. It can be painful but not life-threatening. Dr. Carson says she and the baby will be fine, but she needs to rest for a few days.

2. How is Sasha doing?

Sasha is doing fine considering everything. She helps bury Abraham and Glenn while Maggie is recuperating.

3. What causes the fire?

The Saviors. They come to the Hilltop in the middle of the night, set a bunch of fires, open the gates, and turn on a car tape player full blast to attract as many walkers as possible.

4. What happens during the Savior's visit? Is there any conflict?

Negan doesn't come, and sends Simon instead. Most of the visit is Simon toying with Gregory after he lets Gregory know that they know about their collaborating with Alexandria. You never really know if Simon is just going to kill Gregory or what. But he doesn't and they end up just taking 1/2 of the Hilltop's stuff and leave. Jesus is also successful in hiding Sasha and Maggie. So the Saviors still don't know that they're there.

5. Are the Saviors attacking the Hilltop? Why?

The Saviors attacked the Hilltop with the fires and the car basically as payback. To let the Hilltop know who's in charge.

6. What are Carl and Enid doing?

Enid decides to go to the Hilltop to see Maggie, and at first, Carl refuses to go with her and to help. But, he finally does, and they go to the Hilltop together. They share their first kiss!

7. What are Rick and Aaron doing?

They are going out on a supply run because the Saviors will be back soon. And, as Negan said in Sunday's episode, they had to have something "interesting" for them or someone will die.

8. Do Carl and Jesus sneak into one of the Savior's trucks?

Yes.

9. Does anyone die or get hurt?

Not really, but Maggie does punch Gregory in the face for taking Glenn's watch off his grave.

10. How does the episode end?

It ends with Jesus sneaking in the back of one of the Saviors' trucks, only to find Carl back there as well. Sasha is the one who asks Jesus to find out where Negan lives because she wants to kill him, and so, the episode also ends with a scene of her sharpening knives, preparing for that.

Bonus:

* Jesus double-crosses Gregory by putting a case of Gregory's finest scotch in the closet he was supposed to put Sasha and Maggie in. So, when Gregory tried to give them up to the Saviors, they find and confiscate his best booze instead.

* Carl and Enid find roller skates on the way to the Hilltop and skate most of the way.

* Enid brings her green balloons and put them on Glenn and Abraham's graves

Also, The Spoiling Dead Fans note that there is a fake spoiler circulating that Enid is raped in this episode.  TSDF says that this is absolutely 100% not true.
