Spoilers and Speculation: Clink Boom and Cheese Fondue

I'll be very surprised if the Griff/Ava thing doesn't fall flat on it's face.

Griff is nice to look at and MW has enough range to make this more enjoyable to watch than whiny Morgan.  Bonus points for this couple not involving a mother stealing her daughter's beau and barely tangentially  involving the Corinthos.  Sure if the pathetic St. Duke card wasn't played, it would have been fun watching FH and Griff play out.  Anyways, with the amount of screen time that Sonny, Franco and Finn receive, Griff/Ava could even exceed expectations and be relatively great,  but FV would make sure that it will ultimately benefit one of his pets.

MW is one of his pets. She's the first - supposed to be short term - actress that they "fell in love with"

They're trying Griffin because FV has lost most of the other GH males and he doesn't want to stick Ava with her spiritual twin, Sonny. At least Griffin might actually get some character development before this crashes and burns

If they hadn't stupidly killed off AJ and Nik, they'd be trying to cram her into the Q mansion or Spoon Island right now so I guess I'm grateful for small mercies

Ava switching Morgan's pills happened MONTHS ago, but NOW she feels overbearing guilty and regretful?

She's been feeling overbearing guilt and regret for a while now, but the show just has her slink around town and look pained. Way to pick up that thread in a timely fashion!

The thing is, I like MW and if she'd been brought on to, for instance, take over Crimson because Connie was a train wreck - with  Ava's same personality and an actual conflict with Carly, I'd be a fan. - a big one. But I'm not here for a character that was the lynchpin of RC's shitty decision to develop the Jerome family to the detriment of all of the GH story that could have come from reviving the Qs. This show needed another mobster family like it needed a hole in the head. And to add insult to injury, they (RC/Jelly/OLTL writers) are shit at writing for the mob so this was doubly wasteful

Things change with Frank.

Right! He will drop people fast as hell. Now if only he'd decide to drop RoHo!

I am vaguely curious about Griffin/Ava. I wanted to like Claudette/Griffin because I'm into bad boyorgirl/good girlorboy pairings (sue me!), but they didn't work because BW sucks at playing 'spicy bad girl.' And also I really hated how MC would play his anger towards Claudette because it was OTT. But anyway, still kinda interested to see Ava/Griffin. I'm pretty sure it'll suck though. And honestly I wish the rumor that the were doing Griffin/Nina would have been true because I feel like that would've been amazing UCG.

They were no Thorn Birds, that's for sure. I really hated all of the blame Claudette got. Here's an idea, Griffin: Say no.

But I think the main problem is that we were told that Claudette was a spicy bad girl and then when we see her...pfft. She was neither spicy nor bad. Then we get the idiotic multiple-fathers-of-Charlotte stuff, and the story got bogged down in all of that.

The Nelle story has suffered for similar reasons.

I miss soap bad girls. Why do the current soap writers not know how to write them properly? I mean it's such a classic character!

Claudette has served her purpose, however badly. Please, Frank, don't bring her back. And don't create a new character for Bree Williamson. No offense to BW, but there are too many characters the way it is that aren't being written for.

I want it to come out that Valentin killed her, or threatened her into leaving town, (Valentin told that ranger cop to tell Nathan/Maxie Claudette committed suicide) but I agree with you that I don't want her to come back. Just have her sign a statement saying something to that effect and Lulu should have Charlotte and we can all be on our way.

Too many characters?  Really? I think that there really isn't enough on TFGH. This show is becoming too closely related character wise. Everyone is related to the Corinthos, Qs, Spencers(Webbers, Cassadines and Jones included here) and Jeromes.

Way too many characters are related either by blood or marriage for my taste. Claudette could've been alot better written. I like BW. But I don't understand wtf the writers were thinking. It was obvious that they had absolutely no idea what was going on with the character. None whatsoever. First she was there to cause trouble for Tree/Maxie. Then it was Griffin. Then back to Maxie/Tree. Then they added a secret child and dangerous mystery man. Then secret 9/10 year old girl with multiple daddies. Then Claudette disappears and is claimed to be dead. With Valentin behind it all. With the show then saying that Lulu was the secret girl's biological mother. Even though WE ALL KNOW THAT ISN'T POSSIBLE WITH THE TIMELINE.

Nell has the same issues. Her backstory is stupid and illogical. Carly and Sonny have pissed off thousands of people with their crimes. And this is the best the show could come up?

I don't believe that there are too many characters. I just believe that the writers either aren't allowed to give characters more time or else they are morons obsessed with 5/6 characters for whatever reasons. Or a mix of both.

  • Love 2

There's too many characters, the writers don't have clear plans/stories for any of them and most of the characters are mob-related, which is a problem both because that particular well is pretty dry and because these writers are particularly bad at writing for those characters.

I will say that as repulsive as the mob fixation was under Guza there were still Cassadine, Spencer, hospital/Scorpio, and Q (to a lesser degree) stories and they all had a different tone and the characters were able to interact in interesting ways that usually referenced their history together.

Now, all of that was skewed towards Sonny and especially Jason and it was rife with a particular kind of super-gross misogyny but it was more coherent/structured. This is just a boring mess

I just saw a spoiler that all of Sonny's assets are in Carly's name.  I do recall that when Sonny went to jail for blowing up Morgan, he signed everything over to Carly.  Once she is made aware of this, I can see Carly selling everything down to the last macaroni in his restaurant and the last coffee bean in his warehouse and giving all the profits to charity.  Maybe Sonny would still have his offshore accounts but maybe he signed those over as well.  I would love watch Sonny slinking around Port Charles without (blood)money or power.

I genuinely like the idea of Carly vs. Sonny in a scorched-earth cage match, especially now that neither can use children against the other. (For the most part.) And if movingtargetgal's spoiler is true, it would be great to see Carly take all of Sonny's assets away from him, including his house. She could then deny him a room at the MetroCourt, and Sonny would have to bunk with Jason and Sam. Hee.

But this will never happen, for the usual reasons.

Except that Carly would be the winner. Unless the twist is Monica ends up sueingCarly for her role in covering up AJ's murder and takes everything, I am not interested in Carly is the winner.

No.

Sonny can move in with Michael since Michael acts like Sonny's parent anyway.

Yup.  Carly and Sonny have declared war on each other plenty of times before this (meanwhile Jelly seems to think this "War of the Roses" approach is novel and interesting with these two characters) and it never amounts to anything.  Also see Michael's feud with his parents.  I'm still bitter to this day he didn't buy their legitimate businesses out from under them.

Doesn't Michael still live at the Quartermaine's?  I would love to see Monica throw Sonny out of the house because it is HER house .....Alan gave it to her.  Maybe Sonny would have to become the Quartermaine butler?

I think he still has an apartment as well.  I'm not sure because his scenes are always at ELQ, Carly's, or Sonny's house.

I DON'T CARE. Good grief, this story is stultifyingly boring. The pacing, as always, is terrible—sure, let's sit on things for a year or more—and the story involves Franco, who should be nowhere near it. Way to go, GH.

Scott's the only other lawyer already on the show, and it's not as if conflict of interest has ever mattered.

Diane mentioned the licensing board to Alexis yesterday, so maybe Alexis will be reinstated by the time Carly needs a lawyer. Or maybe they'll bring back Nora?
