actually I thought it was put in place to protect the girls, not the players - I think it would be an easy jump for many to put undue pressure on the girls (or demand sexual favors) in a way that they might not feel as though they could ignore.  There is a power imbalance there that doesn't favor the girls, and in the end, it has been made clear over and over again in our culture that players are privileged and the cheerleaders (and women in general) are not - even if they are America's sweethearts.

I attend a weekly bible study, and even I roll my eyes at some of the things people in our group ask us to pray for.... then I pray for myself for being so bitchy and eyerolly. ?

But they're punished by getting kicked off the team if they're caught with a player.

I think that is more than likely to give teeth to the idea of "you can't interact" - it's nothing but empty words if there are no consequences and the rule doesn't serve its purpose to protect the girls if it isn't enforced.

Supposedly...

According to good intel both Jenna and Holly P. Got busted for fraternizing. They did not get kicked off and Holly P. seems to be a lock on trying out in May. Jenna said she is retiring after 5 years.

Treading cautiously here...no idea of this is unpopular or not...

i love all the girls, and I think they're all amazing in every way.  However.  Sometimes I wonder if they haven't gone too far with the "standards."  Some of them (I'm not a name namer) look more like fitness models than cheerleaders.  It's a great look and congrats to them for killing it in fitness...but I wonder if the average fan would think they're too muscular and not "soft" (I SAID SOFT!!!) enough?

I'll one up you...maybe it's my age, but I personally don't find "6-pack" abs particularly attractive on anybody, male or female.  Flat and toned...yeah that's a good look, but when you see the outline of every muscle, nope, it looks like "lumps" to me.

I really enjoyed Chandler. I thought Tina's comment was somewhat uncalled for. I think Chandler was so nervous that she tenses up her neck and her smile, which made her look harsh and "old"

Here's what I have suspected with Chandler.   I  think she had a complete set of false teeth on her uppers.  I think that did--in some way--signal an aged look.  (maybe they were just a tad too big  idk..something.)  I think that is why when she would give a big smile her lips would slide way up.   

I've known people who had abcesses in their mouths and lost front teeth at a young age.  Things can happen due to illness or whatever.  I saw a moment or two of what she was talking about--I won't deny it.  

But WTF is wrong with that woman? Menopausal hag just shouting out whatever streams between her ears. You can dress em up--in Belk 'lady'wear--but you can't give them grace.  She reads zero.

This business of cutting her at the end when they are still learning/practicing the entrance-- so bogus.  Yet an entire year of Breelan (sp?) and her neck.  Chandler exuded warmth. (I can only say from what I saw)  I think she would have been a great ambassador.

Well to me I find this ironic. I am being honest in my opinion here not being mean so to me Chandler and Victoria Kalina look alike. They could pass for sisters. They both have really big smiles. I know they knocked Chandler for having a frozen smile but I see Victoria also having the same big smile while she dances

I thought Chandler would have made a great DCC. I think they are pretty girls.

I think there always seems to be a woman who isn't obviously pretty that makes it into training camp. Sometimes they can glam them up, sometimes they can't. For me, Chandler is one of those. She's cute out in your every day world, but I had a hard time picturing her in uniform and on a swimsuit shoot. I thought her cut made sense. 

Maybe I'm emotionally dead inside, but this is a dance job. They can maintain whatever standards they want for appearance, and women can meet that standard or not. They are grown women and if they can't stay in shape in a healthy way, they need to find another dream. Period. Why are we blaming Kelli and Judy for eating disorders and abuse of drug and alcohol? Sure, some of these gals are 18 or 19, but for every Caila and Breelan that acts their age, you've got a Holly who seems to have solid maturity. (I think she's a showboat, but she also seems to have her head on straight.) I would try to suss out the immature ones early, but sometimes they take a chance. 

Kelly and Judy are not their mommas - I can blame my boss all day long for driving me to drink, but it's ultimately my decision to work there and put the bottle in my hand.

It's a job. A cool job with a pretty, sparkly uniform, but it's a job. And sure, they'll play favorites. That's how the real world works.  I think they ultimately do a pretty good job, but we don't see everything. Megan might be one of those who got put on notice, had no other strikes against her and made steady progrsss. Hannah might have cancelled appearances, had a shit attitude and had gains during camp. Hard to say.

Hate to say it but I agree with this. I think Chandler is precious, but doesn't fit the DCC mold in terms of her look. I can't picture her doing a sexy swimsuit shoot at all. Maybe she could prove me wrong, but I can't see it in my head whatsoever. People talk about Maddie, Jenna, Robyn, etc., all looking young, but they can all do sexy and smoldering imo.

ETA not saying I condone Tina Kalina's behavior whatsoever. I think that woman is atrocious. And I get what you're saying @RazzleberryPie about it not being that bad compared to the rest of the dance world, but I still think she's awful and I'm sticking to it.

I agree with your post regarding the "job' reality,  although being new to the forum I wasn't around for apparent  criticisms or blame on K&J or the DCC standards for unhealthy behaviors or addictions.  

For me I view the show as-is ..as a TV show.     I think the forum would be a lot less fun and purposeful if I had to qualify my comments or reserve my opinions because 'I don't know the whole story'  or the 'before and after'.  That's a given.    I enjoy the show, I enjoy the opinions, the controversy and the snark.  Questions, speculations and  comments aren't always begging an answer.  I can find my own plausible explanations but that's rarely the point for discussion.

Sometimes she tries to change it up. I don't think starving and knees touch your elbows look the same, but I see their similarities.

 

obviously one choreographer has their unique specific style. But too much of the same thing can get old.

i think the anthem depends on what kind of singing talent they have on the squad.  they were very fortunate for a while there with Cassie, Sunni, Brittany, Jordan, Jasmine, etc.  As we've seen during show group auditions the past few years...the singing talent is a bit lacking lol

I LIKE thunderstruck. This was a fav of mine before thunderstruck. Stuck with thunderstruck=they only perform thunderstruck instead of having different pre game routines. I'm embarrassed to say I can perform thunderstruck buried in the middle of the formation with some technical mistakes and a regular fan wouldn't even notice.

That entrance and pregame dance did nothing for me...thunderstruck is just so much more engaging and it revs up the crowd.

It's a live recording, so no autotune. There were some clips circulating years ago of them singing the anthem at a MMA opening. They could harmonize. I get really particular with anthem singing, and they don't go off key or warble.

To me, every performance sounds identical. Played them all at the same time and could definitely tell they were prerecorded..like a track.  It definitely doesn't sound live. Plus in some of the recordings, the words start before the girls mouths start moving. There's one video on particular that sounds identical to another and it's Makenzi instead of Kristen Gauthier singing..but..same exact vocals..everything. But we can agree to disagree.

I didn't look at them that closely. Maybe it is a track! Either way I love their voices and they sound 1000x better than me!

@ShellyB when the cheerleaders sing the anthem, do they sing live, to a track of themselves, or does it depend on the venue?

I swear Cassie has a video singing alone somewhere but I can't find it. She's the lower toned one in the video of the 3 girls. 

This one sounds different than the one posted before. Cassie seems to be taking the lead more here.

SICK of it. It all looks exactly the same to me now. At least with the DCC style choreo you have recognizable moves tucked into tight 8 counts. Lyrical is smooth and fluid (when it's done right....VIVIAN), ballet, well, that's just unfair to compare ballet with street choreo. But this shit is so old for me.

I can't stand Michelle from her dancing, personality and appearance.  I hope she is not on the show next season!
