This reminds me of today when she criticized The Talk for talking a 3 month hiatus. But I think it will only be like 2 to 2 1/2 months.  How many people wouldn't want a vacation for that long and still get paid?  She claims that when you love what you do, you don't want to take off from work.  I get that, but I'd still take the vacation.  I wonder if Wendy's reasons have more to do with her husband still "visiting" the other woman and Wendy being at home alone with no job to go to.

I rolled my eyes when she said that. They usually take off at about the end of July and the taped shows air throughout most of August. I remember one particular season of Wendy when she took off at the beginning of June and didn't come back until September (she might've been changing studios at the time) and she said the same old bullshit about how she just loves her job and just could not wait to come back. Sure...

She needs to quit thinking she can bullshit her viewers. Her hot topics have gotten boring. The only thing I enjoy on her show is the Celebrity Look Alikes but she very rarely does that.

Exactly. And I'm sick of her saying "I don't care!" at the end of every other topic. Go back to your craft room with Lifetime playing in the background then.

Look, Wendy can love her job sooooooooo much that she never wants a vacation but does she not remember there are other people working for her that need that downtime to be able to take a vacation themselves?  I mean, she cares so much about the behind the scenes people at Roseanne getting screwed but doesn't get that her own support people may like her being in vacation so they can vacation, or clean up messes she causes by being wrong about items?

I don't know that the behind the scenes people take the month and a half/ two months off that she does.  I don't know the biz but I assume there are still people who work during her vacations.  They are still lining up guests, coming up with gimmicks and new sponsors, etc.  I don't know what the cameramen and directors do during the vacation, do they just go without paychecks?  I have no idea but I find it strange if the entire office behind the show closes for a month.

I am not in the business either, but, I assume that they all have contracts and the union will require the crew and all of the behind the scenes people to take vacations..

So, do you think it's like teachers?  I'm being real here.  I have friends who teach all over the country.  Some are paid for the school year and they budget themselves to have money for the off months in the summer (or get summer jobs) and some work for districts who have the option to spread their pay out for all twelve months so they are paid in July/ August when school is out.  Do the production people/ unions do this too?  I've actually never thought about this.

I know the production people (office people behind the scenes) can probably take a vacation whenever, just like any job.  But, they probably come back to a ton of work, like anyone does.  I mean, their work is covered when they are gone but they come back to emails, questions, and catch up work. My husband hates taking time off simply because of the ton of crap in his inbox and email when he returns.

Also, I am guessing that the unions get the workers severance type packages when a show is cancelled suddenly, like in the Roseanne situation?  Those people have to eat, pay rent/ mortgage while they fund a new position.  I have no idea, and  I'm interested to know.

My earlier point is, it would be easier/ less  stressful to take a vacation when the show I work on is on hiatus instead of when it is rolling full steam ahead, if you work on a show that takes a long hiatus.

Just found a video from a guy who was at the show the day that Wendy fainted and he goes into detail of all the events that happened.  He relates a lot of general behind the scenes stuff (how they choose audience members, what happens before the show starts) that was interesting to learn.  Then he goes how earlier in the show Wendy was slow, pausing in her words, etc. - all of the stuff that was happening as we watched her mysterious decline before she revealed her health issues.

The guy is a big Wendy fan, and he has a sincere love for her, so no shade.  He's kinda chatty, but if you want to know more about that Halloween show, check it out.

In that video, he said you can get free tickets to the show (as we already know cause WW mentions every day) but this is what didn't make sense: he said people who had tickets for the Halloween show who were NOT dressed in costume, were not allowed in. How can you tell someone who has a ticket that they aren't allowed in? Does Wendy's big, buff bouncer escort them out?

Anyway, I just think that's stupid to have "rules" for ticket holders. So what if some people don't wear a costume. As Wendy would say "we're all adults here".

When Wendy first came on, I put out a request to get tickets, they wanted a picture and thus I bailed out.

That video had to be the longest video about nothing, the actor was cute and the comments were hysterical.

I've always wondered why her "co-hosts" are always dressed up, perfect makeup and hair. They are all  her admirers that gush over her. She's so f'n fake. I'd love to see what she looks like when she wakes up in the morning!

Why do you think that she asks for a picture before issuing a ticket? Is it to keep her “standard” of a beautiful audience? Do you also have to sign a phot release about said photo? I wonder what she does with them. It seems a bit shady. I wonder that she doesn’t have someone go online to do some kind of a background check or to see how the person talks about her on social media. I’d back out of getting ticket too, under those circumstances.

I remember her stating on the show before that she expects her audience to dress in a particular way. I think she mentioned something about casual party attire or something.  The show's site lists the "dress code".

Quote

Is there a dress code?

YES! All audience members may appear on camera. Think trendy…think stylish…think chic! Above all else, think WENDY! Bright colors look best on TV and we ask that you refrain from wearing white. Floral prints and other crazy patterns don’t look good on camera, and we know you want to look your best!

Absolutely no hats, sunglasses, costumes, shirts with logos/writing, shorts, or casual tank tops will be permitted.

I have no clue.

Perhaps for security reasons? This is NYC post 9/11 after all.

It also could be just a shallow intern who want to weed out the undesirables.

Besides waiting on line for a long time and having to dress up on top of it, I decided to not go.

Plus it was when she was still honest with her co-hosts. Lol. My friend and I did not need the aggravation.

I also made a request for tickets, after watching an Xmas show and seeing the goodies that were given to the audience.  I was jealous and thought "I want some of that!"  When I saw that they required a photo, I got highly insulted - were they picking the people to sit in the audience by looks?  I bailed out, thinking that the show was a bunch of shallow creeps.   Now I think that they requested a photo to use when they did those Wendy contests - they show a headshot when they get the contestant on the phone.  If that's the main reason for a photo, it doesn't bother me as much.

I imagine that it has something to do with the racial composition that they desire to have in the audience as well as level of attractiveness.  Some people have reported that they made repeated requests for tickets but never were chosen to get the tickets.  That probably wasn't a mistake.  They want to create a certain mix in the audience. They are micromanaging the "look" of the audience, especially the demographics IMHO.

Gee, that’s not nice of them. I think it’s new and not a rerun.

I heard the Rachael Ray show does this, too. Not the racial composition but the level of attractiveness. The want a certain "look" and they also tell the audience what colors to wear that will look best on camera.

I got a new/live show here in NYC.   I had to think about it for a second and try to remember what was covered in HT; one of the subjects was Janet Jackson calling the police on her ex-husband, so it was current news.

Thanks. I got some episode that included Cat Sadler interviewing Jim Carrey on a red carpet when she still worked for E! which was my first hint because she hasn't worked for that channel in quite awhile and Wendy was going on like it was current news. I was like "Why in the world is she covering this stuff from last year and before that?"..... The 2nd "topic" which is what led me to changing the channel because it confirmed I was watching a rerun. It was about the lady who didn't want her kid to go to a preschool because all the teachers there weren't thin which led Wendy to start talking about a fluffy teacher she had when she was young.

Today's episode was new and live for me as well, but my local FOX affiliate has aired a rerun instead of a new episode every blue moon for the last couple of years. Including the one with the Cat Sadler/Jim Carrey you mentioned in your last post. No idea why though.

Wendy, you say you would've left Kanye a long time ago if you were in Kim's shoes yet you're still married to man who lives with his mistress and pays for her lifestyle with your $$$....

^^I had the same thought when she mentioned tickets - are they not getting enough butts to fill seats?  Then again, I've wondered this about many of the shows with audiences - how do they get folks in there day after day after day.

Two nitpicks from this weeks shows:  1) it irks me when she insinuates that people in the news owe the show some kind of appreciation that until they're discussed by Wendy, no one would be talking/thinking about them.  For example, W said this about Pusha T and some other low-level person this week. 2)  Saying she hates stupid women when talking about the female who was messing with Future.  She was dissing this woman for not playing the game right.  How about telling her not to play the game AT ALL.  Wendy did say that something positive - that women need to an education, blah blah, but I think she shouldn't be implying that these Instagram models need to be more conniving and devious when trying to get "whatever" from the rapper/athlete they're trying to hook up with.

Last, was Wendy implying that Tyrese may be on the down low because he's requesting full-time custody of his daughter?   She threw in an under her breath "how you doing" when discussing this issue in HT today, said it in the tone she used back in the day on the radio when was throwing some male celeb under the bus.

Wendy's advice is WACK. I hope people that ask her questions aren't serious or that he questions are staged and that people are not hinging their decisions on what Wendy says. I can't believe she green lighted the gay gentleman wanting to use a woman for sex to cross out his bucket list entry. She even encouraged him to give a fake name. That's pretty crappy advice given by a fellow woman.

Yes, rerun here.  Someathing must have went down fast because they didnt even bother using a rerun from months ago, this one was just days ago. It might have even been yesterdays.

It was so phony when Wendy started getting teary while talking about Kate Spade, but it irked more when she made the circumstances about herself.  How SHE has been through stuff, like empty nest syndrome, health problems, etc., so she knows how much stress women her age have on them. And someone needs to teach her not to go off on tangents while in the middle of eulogizing the recently deceased.   She had to interrupt her tearfulness to acknowledge the spiffycute tissue box holder someone had made for her.  That could have waited until another time.

She again made the Kate Spade story about herself again when she said that KS may have killed herself because her marriage was breaking up.  You see how Wendy got nasty and said the haters would be whispering again that 1) there was trouble in her marriage, and 2) there would be insinuations that Wendy is suicidal too.  Wendy, what does it say if the gossip-monger can't take some gossip about herself?

  • Love 9
(edited)

Her tears over Kate Spade were totally phony, maybe she needed to plug Kleenex or Q-tips or something. I was aghast when she said: "Apparently, she had 'chickened-out' on several suicide attempts before." Then someone obviously screamed in her ear for reading the teleprompter wrong and she corrected it to, "Um, she had chickened-out on getting help." Both statements are egregious when talking about a person with suicidal depression. Jesus God.

She sure did parlay the Kate Spade tragedy in to making sure we all know that she and Kevin are fine. Yes, of course you are, Wendy. Until lil' Kevin is settled and off to college and Bad Kev is never home and has nothing stopping him, no kid at home to put on the happy family front for. Not that lil Kev doesn't already know what's going on, kids are smart like that. Breakdown #2 coming up!

And yet she couldnt fawn enough over Neyo today.   I would have been frustrated with Tommy yesterday.  He was totally off the rails.  She couldnt control him.  He was shouting back and forth with the audience.  It was insane.  I wonder if they serve alcohol in the greenroom.  Tommy might just have been feeling it hee

Oh, yeah, he was high on something.  It was impossible to have a conversation with him. His impression of Sammy Davis, Jr. is everything, though! By the time Wendy could calm him down enough to do it, the segment was over.

Well. At least she’s in repeats for 3 weeks.

I was thinking the same thing.  What a stupid place to put a pin.  What an idiot!  She didn't have to pull the wig back just pull the hair back on the side with the pin.  She just loves her fake hair too much to even pull it back for a few minutes.

I found the pin to be very ugly.  I'm so cynical - I felt she had to wear it so she could call it a business expense and make it a tax deduction.   Personally, I love a beautiful pin placed just below the shoulder above the breast.  I think everyone but Wendy wears it there or on a hat.  She looked so crazy hopping and skipping with the pin on her boob bouncing up and down.

I haven't watched yet.  Why is she in repeats again?  I thought she was live until late July?

It's a three week planned vacation.  The announcement at the end of the show said that all new Wendy's would start July 2.

Thanks.  I guess her bitching about the other talk shows being on hiatus is a bunch of crap.

I have no problem with theses shows taking the summer off, but to complain that others are off while you are working and then take a three week break only to come back for only a week until your long break?  Seems stupid.

I bet she's taking off because of Little Kevin's graduation and some trip they are going on.  That is a decent reason.  My issue is with her spanking other shows while not being honest about her show.

The break will give Norman some much needed rest. He is the only one actually working on Hot Topics. Plus it must be exhausting to have to be the "Wendy Whisperer" trying to guess when she wants him to jump in when she blanks out or fucks up the facts.

I ❤ Norman! HE should be doing Hot Topics and "Ask Norman"! Wendy can handle the (mostly boring) "celebrity" interviews, her Trendy at Wendy crap and pimpin' Gold Bond, Amope and Q Tips.

I change channels immediately after Hot Topics so this would be my "dream" format. I've even started to like Suzanne. Only annoying person on this show is Wendy!

Why didn’t she have a guest host for these three weeks? I didn’t think that Jerry O’Connell did a bad job although I see how he can rake on some people’s nerves. Even if she just gave a few different folks a one or two day stint it would be better than reruns. Personally I’m shopping for a new show to watch in this time slot. I would love to see Norman fill in but she would probably perceive it as a threat and hence never allow him to do so. A shame.

Do I look forward to her coming back to: promote her fashions, use those QTips in unique disgusting ways, relish all the product placement she already is promoting plus an added one or two, all those throat and mouth noises and  her constantly calling out others for what she probably has going on behind the scenes (Big Kevin’s affair)....no!

Too jealous and insecure. A dishrag on a stick could sit in the purple chair and Wendy would see red. I'll say it again and again, it's only a matter of time before a similar show with a better host, knowledge of hot topics and interviewing style comes along and scares the living hell out of Ms. Wendy.

Jerry wasn't my cup of tea, but the way Wendy dismissed him was disrespectful. I wouldn't blame him if he never came back on the show.

Don't forget a talk show host that can get A-listers on his or her show. Wendy would panic and get her act together.  Sadly, Wendy will never get any A-listers on her show. I don't blame them, Wendy would ask questions, designed to embarrass them. If I was an Artist, the last thing that I would need is somebody like Wendy interrogating me about my private life..

Norman is a great guy but I don't think he could carry an entire show. and I'm not sure he would ever want to. He's a Hot Topics sidekick and behind the scenes guy for the most part.
