The Wendy Williams Show - General Discussion

I had mention the Wendy drama (I haven’t watched her show in a looong time) to a friend and, she said, “Karma”! I thought that was a bit harsh but I think a lot of celebrity’s (and, non-fan’s) on Wendy’s hit list aren’t losing any sleep over her. With her issues and COVID I don’t see her returning anytime soon or ever. I haven’t watched any of the replacements or Nick Cannon in his quasi Wendy show copy. I’m too old for their demographic but I am curious who or what will replace her and she’s station clearance. She was pretty big in the Philadelphia market.

DJ Boof has been gone for a couple years and he still isn't talking. He wants to but he can't.

Was he able to say why he left? His exit was rather quick, wasn't it?

It makes me wonder if WW sexually harassed him, and he turned her down flat. Even if he knew about her drug/alcohol abuse, that wouldn't come as a shock to her audience. But throwing herself at a co-worker while drugging/drinking just adds fuel to the fire.

If something like that happened, WW's handlers probably asked him to sign a non-disclosure, give him a few bucks, and ask him to leave quietly. Otherwise, why the silence??

It is interesting that Wendy received a lot of sympathy from celebrities when Kev was finally gone. Of course Wendy was right back to being mean and nasty. I'm sure those celebrities who rightly thought Kev was a controlling  POS, realized that Kev wasn't the only reason Wendy was a nasty POS. Sure he was part of it but she is definitely too.

I still remember Christie Brinkly being shocked that Wendy went after Christie and her daughter. Christie had reached out  with advise for Wendy during the divorce from Kev.

Was it that bad?

Bad isn’t the word.  It’s her business, but way too much work on her face.  She looked like an alien.  The lips ..she could barely smile.  Even my husband got scared.  She is super hyper to the point of crazy.  Screaming, yelling, etc.  Reminds us that her and Jennifer are besties.  Too loud to the point of annoying.

I only watched when Lea Remini was on.  She’s like Nick Cannon .. a machine gun.  I think Lea and Nick are too much for a show of their own.  They are ok in small doses.  Nicks rates are low.  People like a calmer show.  Some hot topics, cooking, selling stuff we like, a guest her n there and “Ask Wendy”.  They relate to her.  No to Nick and Lea for everyday.  What’s the status for Wendy now?  Is she getting better or what?  I can’t take Kelly and Ryan anymore.  Never watch.  I do like Sherri Sheppard tho.  Somebody calm who has lots of friends who will come on.  I’m so done with Drew Barrymore.  What were they thinking?

Apparently Kevin Hunter, Wendy's lowlife ex husband married his longtime mistress Sharina.

It says they have a "rumored engagement" not that they are married.

"Wendy Williams’ ex-husband Kevin Hunter and his one-time mistress Sharina Hudson made headlines after reports resurfaced of the couple’s rumored engagement."

After the first 5 minutes of last Monday's show with Whitney Cummins and her sidekick, who looked like Lizzo in a Chinese wig, I bailed and didn't watch a second more.  I couldn't get into it with her.

Sherri Shepherd's week starts tomorrow and she was pretty great when she filled in last year, so I'm going to check it out. This guest host is the one that Wendy probably needs to worry about. She could snatch Wendy's wig and I think she could step right in and carry the show.

As I've said before, Wendy isn't the star attraction of this show. Anyone can do it but it's the ONLY talk/entertainment show on at 11 a.m. PST. I hope she never comes back.

And hey Wendy, how are your 2 beloved cats doin'? Remember them? Chit chat and My Way? We all know they're gone. So just admit it you fake, egotistical biatch.

I don’t understand how the station didn’t let her go already.  Contracts have been broken for the good of a show.  Why not her? Bet Leah Remini thought she had it in the bag to get that job.  She’s too over the top, screaming and yelling.  Anyway, I read in the Long Island paper, Leah was being tested for a housewife part on Beverly Hills, haha.  She would make mincemeat out of all of those pretentious bitches in two seconds flat.  They are filming next season already.  Should be interesting.

I watched Sherri today. I think she spent too much time on herself at the top of the show…much like Wendy would. I think she was a bit too loud, but it was probably enthusiasm doing the show. I guess she’s already taped up to at least Wednesdays show as they had a clip from it  I don’t know how I feel about her hitting on the staffer to take her to Katz’s deli either. Again too Wendy like. I have always liked her and will give her another try, but so far she’s trying too hard to be like Wendy

Sherri was a little frantic on her first day. I only watched the first 20 minutes where she did a little gossip and showed pics of various celebs in their Halloween costumes. The one thing that struck me is that Sherri's schtick is that she is looking for a MAN! I remember her low-key doing this same routine the last time(s) she was on. Today she outright flirted with 2-3 guys from the show on-camera, telling them "I'm single/you can date me". She also put out an open call to anyone who knows of available men to send them her way.

She's starting to sound like the character Sally Rogers from the old Dick Van Dyke show - every time Sally opened her mouth, she repeated how much se wanted/needed a guy in her life, to the point it stopped being funny and became sad. Tone it down, Sherri.

I wonder if Wendy has set (legally perhaps) certain rules and protocol for what her guest hosts can say/do?

It's obvious that the guest hosts must mention WW every 5 minutes and praise her/thank her/blow smoke up our butts. "We miss you Wendy, we love you, there's nobody like you..." So I'm sure there are restrictions on every guest host.

I noticed the first week/first few days, the guest hosts had coffee mugs that, IIRC, had their names on the mugs. Then a few days later the coffee mugs were the signature WW mugs with the ugly WW red lipstick stains. Wendy is definitely watching and calling the shots.

Wendy was also talking about getting a man.

Yes. Wendy talks about that a lot but she doesn't mean it. Shes too lazy to put any effort into anything that makes life worth living: a job, a spouse, pets, friendships,

Sherri seems like she really would be happy to be in a committed relationship.

It's so inappropriate for Wendy and Sherri to be hitting on the staff. It's just disgusting. In this day and age, sexual harrassment works both ways between the sexes.  I don't know how anyone in charge of production would not put a stop to this.

I can’t like this post enough. I can’t stand watching that either.

Sherri did that "man hungry" act while she was a host on The View for years. That along with her exposing too much information about her son's private life could get real annoying at times. I complained about it in The View thread too recently when she co-hosted during a week prior to this Wendy gig and people still try to excuse her in that respect. It wasn't appropriate when she started doing it years ago and it's even more inappropriate now. If the roles were reversed and a man was acting this way towards guests I think it would ruffle more feathers.

I find Sherri entertaining most of the time outside of the behavior described above. I just wish she'd stop with it because if it's making viewers feel uncomfortable and annoyed I don't want to imagine how much worse it is for the person she's directing it towards.

Yes!

She seemed quite rehearsed also. I know the show probably scripted some of it but I don't want to watch a stand up comedy act.

Sherri just needs to be herself, stop will the stupid stories, and just talk with the audience. She could be so good!!

Tuesday:  Just had to take an extra strength Tylenol.  NO .. Just NO to Sherri.  Only my opinion anyhow.  She’s great as a guest, but not as a host imo.  Too damn loud for the morning, and too hyper.  She doesn’t come up for air.  Sorry, but Wendy slurped her tea and all, but she didn’t make me nervous.  She spoke quietly and slowly, like a morning show should.  I don’t need someone screaming and yelling, but I love the format in the show, and there’s nothing else on.  Even Suzanne had a fake smile on her face, as she’s too loud.  On to the next.   P.S.  I think Nick Cannon got the word too about being too loud.  I see he quieted down a bit this week.  I don’t think comedians are good for whole shows .. just stand up in small doses.

Exactly! And she was worse today. Compared to Sherri, even Leah sounds normal.

It's funny that a LOT of media outlets have headlines about Wendy's ratings going up without her.  She's probably somewhere screaming that it's only because they're comparing the first week with the panel and then Leah Remini to reruns, and that it would be much higher with her.  The Wrap article did mention though that the ratings are only slightly below what they were at the same time last year with her though.

Here is an article listing ratings for all the shows that week (of course they didn't have it on the page I'd carefully bookmarked, even though they had it on their main page):

https://tvnewscheck.com/top-news/programming/article/wendy-williams-takes-a-leap-in-season-debut/

It looks like Wendy's ratings were higher than this in the summer, though probably with less competition:

https://tvnewscheck.com/programming/article/talk-shows-celebrate-in-week-ending-july-11/

I think her ratings tend to also trend upward when she's getting attention from other outlets, so if she ever does return, she'll probably get a big boost from people wanting to look at the trainwreck.

O.K. Sherri.  Enough with the big stomach already.  Go have liposuction.  When the three guys came out, I thought she would fall on the floor.  If she dared mentioned a date, I would have switched channels.  Too much info about the mammograms.  By now, I think we get it.  Who’s on next week?  I hope no more comedians.  They just don’t fit.

What a $hit show! 😄

The only reason I watch is because there’s nothing else on, lol.   What is this I read they are paying people to come on?  Michael Rapaport is pretty good .. knows everything about the housewives like Jerry O Connell.  Oh sorry .. Mindthinkr already said that, duh.

Just speculation on my part, but I believe Wendy knows her show is going to be permanently cancelled real soon (if it hasn't been already) Then she can blame the cancellation on poor ratings because SHE wasn't there to host the show due to illness or her CBD (chronic bullshit disease) WW is so easy to "read". Those strategically planned photos of her in public looking like an escapee from a state mental hospital. Then it's rumors of Covid, then it's Graves disease. Yes, she's planned this out. Premeditated  bullshit.

Yeah, the WW show is sinking faster than Jimmy Hoffa. However, I'm intrigued by Steve Wilkos hosting the show.

I am going to purge my inner soul right now and admit that I like Steve.
