S05.E11: James K's Story

Message added by PrincessPurrsALot

James K. used pidgin English when describing Chinese food.  Such mocking behavior of a presumed accent is racist.  Please do not perpetuate his use of that language.

That article is full of "appears" and "seems to be".  James seems to be losing weight.  James appears to realize that he needs to stick to a low cal/non-carb diet.  Nothing is quantified.  James can sit up and dangle a leg over the bed?  And how long did that take?  James kept telling Dr. Now in the program that he knew that he'd lost weight, and that he felt "looser".  Is that what he's telling the physio guy as well?  And we all know how that turned out.

I'll hold off my applause until I see real improvement, not just fake platitudes from James and Lisa.

Overall, Pijnnaken believes that the disaster that unfolded during the TLC show’s latest episode was a result of James and Lisa ultimately not having ample guidance in following Dr. Now’s diet plan.

----

Whoever gave this interview lied or the writer changed the facts.  I saw James move.  He really went to town with that fork when he had a mountain of food under his chins.

Blaming Dr. Now and his team is a cop-out, plain and simple.  James knows he blew it.  Maybe he's trying for another bite at the apple.

I don't want to say the PT lied, but I sure don't doubt that James and/or Lisa told him that.  And we know that's not true, patients are always discharged with a bunch on instructions.  Someone else used the same excuse.  Crazy ... James wouldn't have followed it anyway because he couldn't give up Chinese (or pie).  Lisa was making fish or chicken and veggies for him.  He didn't want it.

But he sets the record for weight gain!  Others have gained but not 150 pounds!  In two months yet!  I weight 100 pounds soaking wet, so that's 1 1/2 of me!

Ok, then how about a stipulation that the funds go directly to the second mortgage lender for the dad. The funds could go directly to the university for Bailey. Any money left over goes directly to the landlord for her very own apartment. Of course, it would have to be on the second floor so pops can't weasel his way in.

I read it and it still doesn't sound like progress is being made. It is still reading like Lisa doesn't get it. I think there is a definite slowness about her that won't permit her to even try a different tact.

I used to volunteer with a DV shelter.  These women were so traumatized and afraid that they could barely function.  Maybe a form of PTSD, so I think she feels she can't escape him.  Where would she go?  They never married so she has no rights (unless common law is legally recognized in KY).  I've watched the episode 3 times and last time really concentrated on her -- she's like a beaten dog who still loves her owner and just wants to please him.  Just tragic.  I'm no expert at all, but she shows the same signs of a long-term DV victim.

I think they should hook up. Free Lisa and Penny's husband (Edgar?) and the kids; then James and Penny could sit and whine at each other all day from their supersized beds.

Yes!  Edgar!  I didn't like him either.  :D  I remember she hardly lost any weight in the hospital and was boohooing to Edgar so he went and got her some ice cream -- in the hospital when her controlled diet wasn't working!  Another one who took a lot of money from family and friends.

Speaking of Penny, does anyone remembered when she moaned from her hospital bed, "I didn't know I'd have to lose weight when I got here."  That beats "Where's my yellow brick road?"  all to heck.  (She probably deep-fried it and ate it.)

I watch her episodes about once a month.  Yes, I'm a bit obsessed but it's good for me to get riled up and she never fails me.  I'm just dumbstruck by that woman.  That poor little boy.  He's well loved, but when she dies I hope he doesn't resent her too much.  But Penny says he's really proud of her!  Ugh.

Not "acted", but how he IS.

I will believe him when he loses enough to prove to Dr. Now that he accepts and does what is required. Dr. Now is his best chance. That would be an amazing episode, and even though this guy is the worst of the worst, I hope he succeeds.

" James feels bad about the way he acted"

James feels bad his gravy train (pun intended) is ending. He got caught acting like a jackass. That's why he feels bad.

If he really wants to show how badly he feels, he could stick with the program, get his weight under control, and spend the rest of his life taking of his family for a change. Can you imagine him making Lisa dinner? Helping Bailey pack for school?

How's y'all gasoline soaked drawers doing?  Mine have spontaneously combusted!  But not as bad as Mr. Paud, who was listening to the James K. story from another room and commented early on that "the ole gal got her a young one" in the "affair" section of the saga.  He felt like his cynical view was validated when Dad refinanced the farm, and thinks that's what Lisa has had her eye on the whole time.

I'm ready to donate to either a Farmer Dad or a Back-To-School Bailey GoFundme, but fear this manipulative duo would somehow get their literally greasy hands on the cash.

Bullsh*t! Don't believe for one moment that Jame-Isa has changed at all!

Their pathological lying continues, only now Rudi is on the receiving end. Shame on him for even repeating the 'suggestion' that they weren't given the proper education regarding the diet. If I were Dr. Now, dear Rudi's company wouldn't receive another patient referral from my office.

Is the PT supposed to be one of the ones th pulled him into a sitting position at the end of the show?

Yes. The older of the two men.

But the way these people carry on, they think getting the surgery is going to magically erase 400 pounds. Every single one of them says "I don't know what I'll do if Dr. Now says no to me- I will have no options then except to die".

The way they think it's a magic pill, Dr. Now should make a superficial cut, add stitches, and tell them they've had the surgery, but will burst open and they'll die if they overeat.
Yeah, medical ethics wouldn't allow, but I bet it might work.

Giving money to ANYONE in that family is like Ted Bundy saying he would never kill another woman.

Just like Penny, just like Pauline, James is never going to change.

The only reason James moved to Houston was hoping the Chinese food was better.

Bayley needs to do it for herself. Let her grandfather help her to make up for that piece of shit son he has.

4. "They" say "hisself" because that's what they learned from their elders.  I was born and raised in Appalachia too, and I spoke that way until I started high school and learned the correct way of speaking.

5.  The way I saw it, James took that massive dump, then told Lisa what he had done, and told her he needed to be cleaned. When they rolled him over, the pad was already saturated.

If I may ask a question?  You say you realized it was 'himself' when you went to high school. Didn't your grade school teachers speak properly? Your minister/priest? News anchors on TV? When you read books, even children's books, didn't you see it was 'himself'?  Please don't take this the wrong way. I'm just intellectually curious about this in terms of language acquisition. People hear what they hear at home, but couldn't you tell from other people speaking that something was wrong?

James is such a worthless lump of flesh that he is incapable of even being able to fry wontons unless he wanted a face full of hot oil. He can't even sit upright without a team to shove him into that position.

I was a high schooler and a neighbor asked my mom, a teacher, to help her kids with reading. My mother got me to do it. : )  The first thing I did was ask the kids to get a favorite book and we'd start from there. OM Good Goodness - no books in the house!!! I'm gonna say, based on the neighborhood, they could have afforded books; these people just didn't read.

I took in foster kids with fetal alcohol and one had just finished first grade unable to read. His step mom had told him only suckers learn to read. He also had never owned a toothbrush. I couldn't in good conscience send him off to second grade unable to read. He'd have always been behind so I home schooled him for two years to get him caught up and ahead. He was the first kid in the family to graduate from high school. He hates me to this day though because I wasn't his real mom.

I'm certain they don't pay for them. Once you get into the system, you're usually well stocked with supplies, too-well stocked in most cases. My sister has a child with severe CP who has been on a feeding tube since birth and is in a wheelchair. They are in California, which is a generous states when it comes to social services. Because of all his problems, my nephew is on the state child's health insurance, which sends monthly deliveries of his medical supplies. Speaking specifically of chucks pads, my sister's got closets, drawers, and cupboards FULL of them because they send more than she needs and she can't get them to stop. She's been donating any sealed packs to hospitals and rest homes, but most of the chucks are delivered not sealed, so they can't take them. It's a huge waste of taxpayer money and she knows it and feels bad, but the system is so rigid and complicated, she can't do anything about it.

Maybe I should tell her to find out if there are any 600 lb bed-bound people in her area, but I'll bet they're just as supplied with chucks as she is.

Take them to the dog pound. I foster puppies and we never get pads for free and appreciate any donations, unopened doesn't matter. Thank you.

This so-called NEW article contains nothing new.  Its called "My 600 pound life Update" but its not an update. The title makes it seem like James actually said something new, that he said to the writer of this article that he regrets his actions on the show, but initially it was heresay, as it was not a direct quote from James, but reported by someone else. So the title refers to another article where someone reported to us what James said. We have no actual quote from James anywhere so the title is extremely misleading.

This is the worst kind of writing, just looking for page hits. The article is reporting what ANOTHER article already reported. It is paraphrasing some of it and quoting some of it. It re-titled it - with false information- to make it look like this is new information and had the nerve to title it an "update". I read the initial article, where this physical therapist said that James said that he regrets his actions on camera. But who know if James said that. It pisses me off that we live in this day and age where this type of drivel passes as an article.

This totally off topic so I apologize.  I went through the questions section on my homepage, clicked icons, etc, but cannot find, or it doesn't exist  -- how to read new posts.  The "go to first unread post" doesn't seem to exist..

I have read all 28 pages (0r 29) Thanks for hints as to settings!  Love reading here and don't want to miss a thing.  How do I go to first new post?  I can be dense, but not intentionally.  :D

If you have a home page set up that features JUST the shows you want to follow, it will turn bold red when there are new articles.  Then any sub-threads will also be bold red.  When you click on an individual thread, it should automatically take you to the first new post in that thread.  BTW - WELCOME!!!

Thank you for the welcome!  Hello to you!  Sigh, did that and have the red.  But "go to first new post" isn't appearing,   I don't mind scrolling.  I loaded my home page again and followed your directions.  Not getting what you described!  I can go to the "last" post easily but have to scroll up to see if I missed anything.  May I should change the order?  Thanks for your help!  <3

Just when I thought I couldn't possibly despise this guy more........

I read the article but among so many things it failed to mention was exactly what James felt bad about?

One of my huge pet peeves are those who do specific nasty, hateful things to other human beings and then give some generic "I feel bad" comment. Feel bad? What exactly do you feel bad about James?

Do you feel bad about verbally and emotionally abusing Lisa, about pulling your daughter out of school to help wash you and constantly fetch you food, about thoroughly pissing away the money your 71 year old dad gave you to get to Dr. Now and placing him in deep debt? Do you even bother to feel bad about wasting the time, energy, and general good will of the people who showed up to help pack up your funky, grimey, grease-stained crap so you could move to Houston?

How about all of those EMTs, firefighters, doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff who worked so hard to help save your miserable life, including the woman who accurately reported that you had gained 158 pounds and ballooned up to 843 pounds after being told to go home and lose weight? You had the nerve to question her professionalism, stating that she must have read the scale wrong, knowing all the while that, day after day for four months, you shoved God knows how many thousands of calories in your face. Do you feel bad about that?

And let's not forget Dr. Now whose skills, time and effort you squandered when he could have been helping someone else who actually gives a damn. What about him!?

Who gives a shit about how you allegedly feel? Frankly, I don't think you've ever had an honest, heartfelt concern about ANYONE except yourself! How about a simple, specific "I'm sorry" to each and every one of the people you have used, abused, and taken advantage of?

I swear, if I had the money to get to Houston and was certain I wouldn't be arrested by the pohleeece, I would come down there and punch you hard in your hateful and ungrateful face you nasty, nasty lying bastard.

As I stated in my post a few above yours, even tho the title of the article was "James feels bad" he never actually said that. There is NO direct quote from James anywhere saying he feels bad. The article is written because there is so much interest in this show to get people to click on it. It contains no new information and no factual information. A PT reported in A DIFFERENT article - second hand - that James feels bad.

Aside from that, of course you are right about every else in your post! And im sure he doesnt feel bad. I don't know why this PT gave the original interview, it sounds like he is trying to promote himself.
