Okay first time in this forum. Today I've been bombarded with Mormon ads on You Tube. I'm there to watch beauty, thrifting, and decorating videos not to be preached too. There has to be a better place to run them. If I want to know about a religion I'll google it.

Weird.  I've already gotten some that blow my mind, and I don't understand where they are coming from.  I get some from eBay (I buy a fair amount on there) but for a while, there was a lot of Nazi Items showing up, and with my Jewish heritage, and my Great Aunt a Holocaust survivor, I would NEVER EVER have any interest Nazi stuff, so that upset me, and I finally figured out a way to stop them.

I had one show up yesterday that I thought was the next in the neverending line of Chinese Crap Clothing, when I looked at the t-shirts and sweatshirts they were selling, many of which had borderline racist or supremacist messages on them.  I reported the ad.  I haven't seen it since.  Makes me wonder sometimes if someone is using my computer when I'm not here.  A former co-worker's kid used our accountant's computer a number of years ago.  He was looking at porn - pretty violent and hardcore stuff.  He unleashed what our offsite tech guy (we now have one in-house) called a "Pornado".  Every 30 seconds, vile stuff would pop up on the screen.  Boss was LIVID.

LOL at "Pornado." Back a thousand years ago when the Interwebz was still fairly new, I wanted to see what was going on in Washington. I typed in whitehouse dot com instead of dot gov.... ACK!!! PORN!! And the popup windows --- close one, four more pop up in its place. Fortunately I made the mistake on my home computer and not my work unit.

RE: the craptacular Chinese clothing.... I finally got one on my feed. It's called Comfyfree. Does that mean the clothing is free of comfort, ie uncomfortable? 😉

Ugh. By way of explanation, loooooots of Mormon mommy types are very into those things, either as viewers or blogging/vlogging about them as a sort of part-time job that lets them still be stay-at-home moms, which is widely viewed as the "righteous" choice among conservative Mormons.

I was unfortunate enough to be raised Mormon, so a lot of my family and long-time friends are either former or current Mormons, and Facebook is absolutely convinced that I want to be part of EVERY Mormonism-related group or discussion imaginable and many I never would have imagined. It's obnoxious. Basically I can't use Facebook without seeing a thousand "suggestions" for a religion I would really prefer to never hear of again (but I don't want to cut off the friends and family I do like, so apparently I'm stuck with it).

Today's new one:  KISS GIRLY

The only thing on the ad were socks to wear while watching Hallmark Christmas Movies.  🙄

So do the socks make you re-discover the magic of Christmas while you stay in a B&B in an isolated wintry town where you save the local Christmas-themed factory, or the annual Christmas festival, or local Christmas store while you reconnect with your high school sweetheart and fall in love because as a woman, you are only valid if you are in a relationship? Do they come with an endless supply of hot cocoa?

Asking for a friend.

This was a radio ad that made me chuckle.

A guy with a strong, authoritative voice is talking about how there are some times when you have to talk to someone face to face instead of posting LOL or a happy face on line.  So he gets into his (I think) Honda, talking about how good it is.  Then he stops the car, you hear steps, and then a knock on a door.  A woman answers the door.  "Eric.  What are you doing here?"

"Like."

"I'm sorry, what?"

"I liked your online post."

"You know there's a button for that?"

Deep, authoritative voice.  "Yes, I know."

Heh.  That's cute.

Tonight on the way home from work, I heard a radio ad that said, "does your dog itch, scratch, stink, and constantly shit"? and I was all wait, what? Ohhh, as the ad went on, they meant "constantly shed." It was for some sort of supplements for dogs. I have no opinion on the product, but the ad could use a little polishing.

If you were looking for running shoes on your computer, it does know. Whatever I was browsing for showed up in the ads here before I installed an ad blocker program. No more pop ups. Yay!

Nope, I wasn't.  I buy my shoes only from one particular  store,  one particular  brand (Hoka.)

I knew about the  tracking. I participate  in the "My Big Fat Fabulous  Life" snark, so I wanted to see if any fitness  apparel companies made fitness clothing  big enough for  Whitney. Look and behold,  I started  getting  popups  for plus size  clothes....

I got tired of the targeted ads in gmail. I realize there's no person actually reading my emails, but some silly bot looking for keywords.  I don't care; I bought my own website so I could have a unique email, not dependent on google, yahoo, or anybody else.

What finally set me off was a friend and I were discussing via email what a hard day he had and how he was gonna have a glass of bourbon. Next thing I knew, I was getting ads for Alcoholics Anonymous. Not only was it a targeted ad, it was being judgmental, too. Screw that.

Since I can't get on this site anymore at work, and my computer was not working correctly (and I hate trying to type posts on my tablet), I started keeping a list of the new clothing sites I saw ads for.

Now that I have a new computer, I present:

Callfordress

Fastchics

CallaBuy

lightinthebox

DressStars

Lascana

JustFashionNow

Romwe

and one that is just a symbol - looks like an upside down "Q" on top of a lowercase "n"

Is anyone else seeing the gross ear wax ad that's showing up on here?  Why would they think something that gross would sell their product, whatever it is?

I usually just ignore ads as long as they're not covering anything, but I actually had to close and report that ad.  To bad "repulsive" wasn't one of the reasons you could choose.
