Vivigirl10 January 29, 2018 Share January 29, 2018 Watching the beloved re-runs this weekend and I caught a gem from one of the ladies. They did a close-up of the really pretty centerpiece and one of the attendee brides scrunches up her nose in disgust and does a voiceover: "she had a few roses with just a bunch of carnations". Mind you, they weren't carnations at all but beautiful hydrangeas. I love it when they try to diss and end up making themselves look like an idiot instead! 2 Link to comment
cpcathy January 29, 2018 Share January 29, 2018 I was also watching reruns, and saw a tongue-stick-out, I can't remember what it was over. There was a wedding on a boat and they seemed to really be displeased! 1 Link to comment
Mrs. Hanson January 31, 2018 Share January 31, 2018 Just caught the tail end of rerun where it was set in Chicago, one bride had a unity fish ceremony (I wish I was kidding) and I could tell there was some SERIOUS cash laid out for these affairs. My beef? The taller, blonde bride who was amazed that the other two brides were shocked (SHOCKED I TELL YOU!) that chicken and peanut sauce was foreign to them. I don't mind the other two brides acting puzzled, it was the oh so hip Tall Blonde Bride who made the snide comment: "I guess they don't get out of the suburb much." I hate this attitude. Seriously. I am in the Twin Cities and I loathe Minneapolis-ites who are so hip and oh so groovy and refuse to cross south or west into the suburbs to eat. Hubby and I went out to a friends b-day party last night (she invited us, btw) and we had to fight Superbowl revelry, pay $30 to park and pay for our overpriced dinner ourselves. In downtown Minneapolis. We could have gone someplace else a little south, parked for free for half the cost. But no, she had to be HIP. (Sorry, needed to vent) On 1/29/2018 at 12:19 PM, Kiki620 said: "she had a few roses with just a bunch of carnations". Mind you, they weren't carnations at all but beautiful hydrangeas. Carnations get a knock for being a budget flower but I disagree - they are beautiful, classic and lovely. 1 Link to comment

(Before anyone rolls their eyes, please don't ask the last time I ate chocolate was. It was about fifteen minutes ago and I am eyeing up the Wonka Bar on my counter.) So.....hubby is craving salt the other night: "Honey, pick up some onion dip and RUFFLED potato chips!! The dip clings better to them!!" LOL! Secondly - my wedding "theme" was: Watch us get married, food and drinks. Seriously, when I see some of these wedding on Four Weddings, they sound exhausting. You gotta play a game? Lawn games? Answer questions via the show game? Trivia? I need to pay attention to a theme? I need to come in a costume? Gotta have my palms read? I need to have a caricature done that I will never hang up anywhere in my house? Ever? I wanna sit, eat, drink, dance and catch up with relatives. Your wedding sounds like more work than......work." RSVP box to check: Can Not Attend. I agree about the games, themes, shenanigans at a wedding. Many of these ladies really seem to expect a nightclub experience. They say, the energy wasn't high enough on the dance floor! Are you kidding me? So ridiculous. I hope this is producer driven, because if they are that pathetic, they don't deserve to be rewarded with a free honeymoon. Link to comment

I agree about rewarding with a honeymoon: most of these ladies should not be rewarded with anything from what we are shown on air. I truly hope the reception details are not producer driven - I would never change a reception plan just for a tv show....but you never know. Some brides have confessed to adding things are altering things when they saw the first or second brides. I wouldn't, though - I put time and effort into it, the way I wanted it, I am not going to let some stranger's wedding change me. Link to comment

Mrs. Hanson February 8, 2018 Share February 8, 2018 Okay folks: I think I may have just witnessed a competitor for BLAN bride!!! Her name was Kara, she was in the "And A Taxi" episode. It was set on Long Island and she had the Long Island "honking voice" down pat. Not all LI Brides are like this, and two of the others were quite sweet. The other bride was outgoing but not like our friend Kara. She worked in a prison and she was CLEARLY used to bullying people and bossing people around. I will cut to the chase - I was SO glad she came in fourth. She bitched about everyone and good Lord above if she couldn't get a shot at a guest bride's wedding!! "Where are the shots? Let's do shots! What? No shots?" Ugh....shut it. Then she complained about a bride's Catholic Mass wedding. I have a real sore spot for any guest guest bride who are critical of anyone's church ceremony or ANY aspects of religion. That is their thing and HIGHLY personal.....so shut it. Our Miss Kara got out on the dance floor, whooping it up and being loud, then complained if another guest bride seemed "subdued." She was crass and tacky and I feel for the other brides who had to have her at their weddings. She called one bride "boring" while describing her. How rude. How mean! I actually fistpumped when she came in fourth!!! 5 Link to comment

I actually fistpumped when she came in fourth!!! Oh yes, I feel the same; she's a classic, for sure. She befriended one of the other brides who was all into the shots, & although much more polite, she was tacky as well. The other NY bride who she called boring changed her wedding up to 'compete' more - she added 'rowdy reception' to her invitation (I highly doubt it was there originally), changed her buffet to a sit down meal, & took shots with them even though she wasn't into it at the other weddings - she also looked really stupid because she said she had to do that while her family wasn't watching. She was in her 30s, I believe - I was kind of floored by her stupidity, as if no one would see that even though it was being filmed! And why would a woman her age care anyway? Really odd. The Chevron bride was the most authentic & nicest, I thought, but of course her wedding didn't compete well (typical). 2 Link to comment

(I was getting ready for a funeral so I was not 100% paying attention!) It was the black, red and white bride who placed first - her parents shelled out $50,000 to ensure that. (Geez.. isn't that what some people make A YEAR?) There was something about Kara that was so rude and abrasive. I can't imagine her at a party. "I need a shot of liquor! I need a shot of VODKA! Oh my stars the host is so boring!" When that poor girl's centerpiece fell over I though.....Karla is going to have A LOT to say about this one. And she did. Everyone's food was cold, everyone was boring, everyone was this and that. It was fulfilling that she fourth as she was the classic bride who thought she had it all sewn up. Nope, try again! No, Chevron is not a theme, and it totally dates your wedding. Karla might be beating BLAN Bride and Marie of Dracula's Castle for ugliness!! And by the luck of the draw I got to witness it......yay me. ;) Edited to add: BLAN Bride is on next Tuesday!!! (Damn that full time employment......) TwirlyGirly February 27, 2018 Share February 27, 2018 (edited) I've got a question! Granted, it's been literally decades since I attended a wedding, but is having so much food offered during the cocktail hour really a thing? Most of the weddings I attended took place when I was a child (my mother was one of 11 children, and all of her sisters had kids - plus I was the youngest cousin - so I went to a lot of cousin's weddings as a kid). I don't recall there ever being a "cocktail hour" per se. After the church wedding, we'd go directly to the reception site and find our tables. I remember the adults fetching drinks from the bar, and then dinner (either buffet or sit-down) would commence. I'm just astounded when I see the amount of food and the variety offered during the cocktail hour at most of the receptions featured on Four Weddings (and the amount of wasted food sent back to kitchen from the dinner service because the majority of the guests are full after the cocktail hour). Makes me wonder how many thousands of dollars are thrown away on those uneaten dinners. Why do couples do this? Edited February 27, 2018 by TwirlyGirly 3 Link to comment

I went to a wedding with a cocktail hour but it was a Catholic wedding and there was a gap so the hosts offered up cocktail hour before the reception. It was nothing too filling - we still had room for dinner. When did the grand entrance become a thing? When I got married the first time in the early 90's we.....wait for it......walked into the VFW. This time? We.....wait for it.....got there first to greet our guests. So much wasted food with the cocktail hour. What if the food does not match the theme? Horrors!!! (The fact that I remember that is kinda impressive and sad) - the other girls ordered pizza outside and ate it on the curb? An all dessert reception, no food and no alcohol means we leave early for dinner and a drink someplace else. I was watching a re-run this morning and more of the same: "I do not like the color hot pink so I give her a five." "The food was really good overall, but one dumpling I ate during cocktail hour had a spice I did not like, so I give her a four." (The last one I made up you guys get it.) I think the same sex couple bride with their four or five young children was on as well - they served cold pizza, warm soda and her dress was.....awful. I mean, for what she paid a person to make it she could have saved $$$ on a cocktail/bridesmaid dress that came in white. And saved enough $$ for some ice for the sodas!!! LOL! 4 Link to comment
gonecrackers March 3, 2018 Share March 3, 2018 Julie was also the one who said dancing was too 'sexual', yet she had that grossly inappropriate kiss at the altar (& I do mean gross). Enero March 18, 2018 Share March 18, 2018 Watching the episode “...And a fire ant attack,” which is a repeat from 2010. The older bride - Samantha’s wedding might’ve had more attendees had she not held it on the 4th of July. It looked like there was hardly anyone at the event likely due to the holiday. Also, she appeared completely wasted for the entire event. Not exactly the state of mind I’d think a bride would want to be in at her wedding. Shannon’s wedding was nice. The fire ant and gnat situation should’ve been resolved prior to the event though. The venue should’ve treated the grass for ants and put out patio lamps/candles to deter the flying insects. Overall I thought all of the weddings in this episode were equal. So I was fine with any one of the ladies winning. Link to comment

People have plans, sorry. Link to comment

I know pages from the bible are not considered sacred but I am sure some people were put off by that. Yes. I was quite surprised that she tore up 'old Bibles' to make those flowers. To me it was in poor taste; they could've chosen from so many other things. 10 minutes ago, Mrs. Hanson said: Yes - call someone from the venue to help. Don't stick your fingers in there, woman! Frankly when I see two 19 year olds who want to get married I just think: Please don't. I think that groom was only 18 - wonder if they are still together? 2 Link to comment

The 18yo groom was excited to move out of his parents house- "no rules!" Um, society has rules dude. They seemed way too young. 2 Link to comment
