Besides LLL and the gangster movie, they had Crazy, Stupid, Love the movie that has to be the reason Hollywood keeps putting them together. 1 Link to comment

It definitely could have been much, much worse. I really think it got helped by Rogue One and Sing being sold out, so people would go see it instead. I'm hoping since it wasn't a flat out bomb, Hollywood might be willing to pair Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt again. I'm positive at this point, Hollywood's trying to figure out another Emma Stone/Ryan Gosling vehicle. 3rd time's the charm, it seems. (The gangster flick really got screwed by the unfortunate timing and the fact that Emma Stone is really unbelievable as a femme fatale 40's type.) Possibly, if it's a completely different genre but Lawrence and Pratt would have to get paid a lot less, the next time around. I'm not sure if the total box office for Live By Night will ever reach what Gangster Squad did in its opening weekend ($17M on its way to $46M domestic, $105.2M worldwide). WB shouldn't have bothered with a qualifying release but kept it away from awards season completely. Lots of failed Oscar hopefuls manage to make a decent amount if they're given a bit of breathing room from the real contenders. Edited January 18, 2017 by Dejana Link to comment

xaxat February 19, 2017 Share February 19, 2017 Monster Trucks had a bigger budget than The Lego Batman. That's nuts. Looks like Great Wall killed it in China. Not so much here. 1 Link to comment

Bruinsfan February 21, 2017 Share February 21, 2017 Early reviews I've read said it wasn't racist, but also wasn't really all that good. I'll probably see it at some point, but right now I'm more eager to see A Cure for Wellness and the John Wick sequel, which means I may have to catch it at Redbox. Link to comment

I somehow missed that ad. I have never seen a preview for this movie. But it looks creepy and scary as hell. I would love to see this movie. If it's still around this weekend, I certainly will. 1 Link to comment

To be fair to Felicity Jones, I heard this film got delayed a lot, so she probably wasn't even cast yet for Rogue One when they made this. Still not sure what she or Nicholas Hoult saw in this though (can't say the same for either Ben Kingsley or Anthony Hopkins, as both of them are at the stage where they are perfectly happy to just camp it up in a bad film for a sweet, sweet paycheck!) No kidding: Quote The film was scheduled to be released on October 30, 2015, by Relativity Media. However, when Relativity filed for bankruptcy, producers had put the film back on the market. In September 2015, it was announced Open Road Films would distribute the film apart of an audit statement. In October 2015, Open Road set an April 1, 2016, release date for the film. It was then pushed back to August 19. In September 2016, it was pushed back to February 3, 2017. In January 2017, the film was pushed back to February 24, 2017. And before all that, Amber Heard and Zac Efron were announced as the stars in May 2013, and it was supposed to start filming that fall. That casting fell through and the project didn't actually roll until May 2014. Still, nearly three years ago at this point, so a lot has changed with Felicity's career since then. Hoult just turned 27 but given Hollywood casting, he was probably grateful to do something besides a comic book movie or playing a high school kid. With Moonlight, in the past you can see I've noted its budget as under $5 million, then followed Wikipedia listing it at $5M, and in discussing the Best Picture win, the people involved have been noting a $1.5M budget. On its opening weekend, The Founder reportedly had a $7 million budget (still listed on its IMDb page), but shortly theareafter, a lawsuit from a company that helped finance the movie stated the budget at $25 million! Percentage-wise, that's the most flagrantly under-reported budget I've ever seen in my years of following the movie business. 5 Link to comment
