The first year that they did shows from Maine, Joe did the show from the Brzezinski house living room. I really liked that, and there was a nice view through the window. It was also funny, because sometimes there would be dogs running around in the background.

also remember for like six months in 2019, when Joe and Mika were in Florida they would still go into like a real studio where they could sit next to each other at a desk and interact like normal humans and we all loved that and then they just randomly changed it for no reason 🥴

idk I have no real objection to the working from home thing, just an objection to making the working from home thing an intentionally weird depressing experience for the viewers 🥴

at least High-lemann is here today, I love his beautiful bald self. and Claire M is still my matrix oracle

I think MSNBC has been more than tolerant of this arrangement and probably doesn't care to sink another cent into this folly, lest it encourage others. Keep 'em in the laundry room, this is what they wanted.

If I were the network I would bury The Twins in Florida. Tell them that their choice was to broadcast from their bunker - so that is where they will stay.  No more trips to DC for camera-time and to hobnob. If Meeka's mother has an art show in DC ....The Twins can broadcast their show from The Bunker, fly to DC at their own expense,  and then go stay on Manchin's yacht while in town. I could do an entire page on that conflict of interest.🤢  If you choose to base your daily show in a different state (for tax reasons! allegedly) then you need to stay there.  Didn't the network pay for some of the set-up in Florida?  I mean permanent set-up, not the make-shift Zoom settings the other anchors did during Covid lockdowns.  Give the morning slot to someone who will appreciate having the job and behave accordingly.  The ratings will be fine; the network seems satisfied being in perennial 2nd place for the timeslot anyway.   😎

Also, network.  When I tune in first thing and I see that they are in Florida, I immediately change to the local news, CNN or just about anything else. Sorry for the rant. Not sorry.

well I just don't get why they're not at all ambitious, ever

Like during election season I literally tried to introduce my actual human friends to the show and it was just impossible, bc they didn't even try, they had like 2 million eyeballs on them and made everything as boring as humanly possible, they split-screened Joe and Mika, no one went in, and Joe announced the election in his used car salesman voice and and they didn't even try to be funny and charming to make any of the new viewers actually stick around aggggh

IDK, i like these people, i'm rooting for them to do well, but sometimes I just can't

Maybe because I have watched from the beginning - they were never charming. Titillating, yes. And Joe could be funny (and fun to watch) at times.

I found the show to be very interesting during the 2008 Democratic & Republican primaries.

They had shows in pubs & bars with guests from both parties. I recall the late Tim Russert showing up on the set which was a big deal.

The show was much more informal & they were able to get guests off their normal talking points.

Chuck Todd had just started working at MSNBC and had a similar job that Kornacki has now. He would provide analysis on which candidates were ahead in the delegate counts etc on Morning Joe. I recall when Hillary was refusing to concede the nomination to Senator Obama, Chuck would go through various delegate counts to prove that it was impossible for her to win.

There was an online fan club for Chuck Todd back then for Chuck's groupies that were called Chuckolytes.

Now this, right here, has made me take a huge gulp of my Irish Whiskey.  You have got to be kidding me.  Oakville - what would we do without you?  I had no idea!  When you think about it .... all the shows and on-air talent were interesting and fun to watch.  Maybe they didn't take themselves so seriously then.  It was a brave new world, I guess.

Kemper, I found the website for the Chuck Todd fan club. They used to discuss it on Morning Joe. Members could get a Chuck Todd Goatee membership card & a pin with his goatee.

omg hahahahahaaha

agggh. ok, yes, I didn't watch from the beginning by reason of being a teenager then and also not here, but even so, part of the reason I love this show is, I've seen tons and tons of clips on teh youtube, and this show used to be fun, weird, badass, irreverent and a totally unusual thing 🥴 and there are sometimes still glimpses of it and I'll never understand why they decided to become this wholly different sad depressing other thing. That is all.

The move to the Florida breakfast studio had a very negative effect on the viewing experience.

There is no logical reason why they couldn't have operated out of the NBC Jupiter Florida studio. It isn't far from their home. They could have guest & proper lighting.

Joe's political connections could have secured his own express lane to/from the studio so that they wouldn't have to wake up too early & get caught in traffic.

Morning Joe is one of the few shows on cable news where the show can get interrupted due to a dryer signal going off or the doorbell ringing.

Mika was smart to ask one of her housekeepers to refrain from vacuuming the carpet during the show.

i didn't catch the whole segment but did Joe ask Richard & Anne Appelbaum about Bulgaria? Bc I think that's interesting but also extremely confusing

IDK why they always waste the brains of people like Richard & especially Anne on generalizations about general trends that we've already heard about on the show w/out picking their brains for specifics, we are smart damnit

Had to mute mrs Rittenhouse, ugh, just no

There was a guest that I have never seen before and I missed the introduction. He may be with a news magazine.  Anyhoo.  He had the worst dye job I have ever seen - pale complected with ebony hair and EYEBROWS.  One could not look away or concentrate on what he was saying - it was that jarring. A grand stopped whining for Eggos and stared; breakfast stopped. I kept sipping my tea while an entire family around me halted their morning activities. Did anyone see this? If so, who was it.

I just cannot when Joe simultaneously presents and dismisses his viewers' possible arguments. Yes, Joe - we can believe Birx may know what she's talking about but we can also be resentful towards her public support of Trump when it mattered. (But maybe that particular example hits too close to home.)

The Rittenhouse clip was just a brief illustration of the apple/tree analogy.

Monday mini recap with wine.

The show started with an unflattering photo of Steve Bannon. He said all hell would break loose on January 6th.

Mika is wearing a black cardigan.

Bannon is being indicted. Joe said it could happen to Mark Meadows.

Joe reported that Biden's support is 41%. He has 80% support of Democrats.

Joe said the 16% of Democrats that disapprove will vote for him anyway.

Joe forgot that Democrats that are unhappy can vote for another party or stay home.

Mika started moaning about Democrats.

Joe said the bipartisan infrastructure bill has 63% support. Joe said Republicans are dumb for not voting for the bill.

Joe supports clean drinking water & new roads.

Joe supports better broadband so his fan can download his music on Spotify at a faster rate.

I FF when I saw Joe's friend Aronberg from Palm Beach County. He shouldn't be on the show if he can't even get the owner of Patriots convicted of soliciting ladies in a massage parlor with video evidence.

Lemire is hopeful that Biden's poll numbers will improve by visiting Michigan & NH.

General Flynn support one religion in the USA. Yikes!

Joe  said Trump was stupid to name Flynn as NSA.

Joe supports more than one religion in the USA.

Joe called him a crackpot.

Anne Applebaum is worried about autocrats taking over many countries.

Mika started talking a woman leading the Belarus opposition. Mika struggled to read her name which I sympathize with.

Her husband was arrested.

I don't. As someone with a name similar to eye chart (thanks, Phil Donohue), Mika should be extra sensitive to pronouncing another's unusual name correctly. It's called show prep. Oh, wait.

For real? Hasn't Donny already been a special guest? I have to turn away immediately whenever I see him in the line-up on the show...shocking that Joe can't attract a wider list of guests for his podcast...I'd think all the politicos, musicians, pundits, professors, world leaders, Hollywood elites, etc. would be clamoring to appear with him. Maybe they're holding out for Mika's Peacock thing...

Agreed. I hope her promotion is a reflection that  Mika recognizes her talents.

I remember that Mika & Joe went on a late night talk show to promote the book & left Daniella in the audience to wave at her & the host. Joe ended up monopolizing the interview & complained about President Trump which had nothing to do with Mika & Daniella 's book.

Reporter? Of what? Have they burned out all the NYT/WaPo/Axios contributors? If anything, I'd think she'd go to Mika's Peacock show. If she's the KYV reporter...ugh.

The show needs new contributors. Daniella could offer a fresh perspective on issues.

How much longer can viewers put up with Mike "kitchen table issues" Barnicle.

Yes, this show does need new contributors; and Daniela may be very good .  It is not her fault that the show has gotten so incestuous; the hosts are only comfortable with their friends and yes-people (the echo-chamber) sharing opinions and stories.  Their ratings have apparently gone up (I wonder how much that has to do with the fact that they got out of the Florida bunker); but their demos have not.  I am not interested, anymore, in listening to the predictable rants and the "Joe, you are so right" commentators.

Rachel does the same damn thing, except she warns you she might butcher the name and then giggles about it.  Equally unacceptable, especially from someone with a doctorate from Oxford.  No excuse for either of them not to do a runthrough and practice names they don't know.

Do you think Joe would tolerate anyone who didn't suck up to him?  A fresh perspective would scare the shit out of him.  It would highlight even more (as if it weren't already patently obvious) how unprepared and intellectually limp the Twins are.

With regard to Joe only being comfortable with his echo chamber.  I have noticed that Adam Kinsinger has been on CNN a bit lately; I could be wrong but I haven't noticed him on MJ recently; maybe a few weeks ago?  Kinsinger is young-ish, telegenic, courageous (something Joe never was Back When He Was In Congress) and a True Conservative.  He would probably not mesh at the Joe You Are So Right table.

Bannon is not photogenic.

I was shocked that Mika had no clue who the opposition leader was in Belarus.

It was a big news story that her husband was jailed & he had to escape Belarus after she nearly won the election to replace the current President.

I am pretty sure that Morning Joe mentioned her at the time , but I would have to go check my recaps.

I agree that Mika should have been able to pronounce her name correctly but given that she is unlikely to receive a ratings bonus this year, it is understandable that she would not want to spend time preparing for the show.

I am looking forward to seeing Daniela on the show.

If you watch the clips on You Tube for their book tour, Mika bragged that Daniela was an undocumented alien, AKA Dreamer  who lied on her resume to get a unpaid internship with P. Diddy.

It's a strange way to describe her co author, but Mika said that she allowed Daniela to sit next to her on a flight to one of her KYV seminars & learned about Daniela's struggles a a Dreamer.

well, I've decided i like her bc I checked youtube and this gorgeous TED talk came up which is *chef's kiss*

tbh she tells her own story much better than Mika tells it

Also Mika did help Kasie & Nicolle a lot so I think she does recognize talent

But where are the other womeeeeeeen? I mean not just reporters but women who are regulars. WEHT Shawna, Errin, Susan del P, Adrienne, or even someone like Rachel Bitcoin? Also Lawrence has this lady on called Alet something-something and literally everything that comes out of her mouth is perfect. it's not like they can't be found.

She worked in the booking department.

This is exactly why I don't see her as "a fresh perspective". She's been under Mika's wing for so long I don't expect anything new or profound that goes against the established "You're absolutely right, Mika" meme. It would be a positive though, if they use her as sub/replacement for Mika...though given Joe's dalliances, I don't know if Mika would stand for it. Maybe they'll bring her on for awhile and then move her to Mika's Peacock thing...given Mika's weaknesses as a host, Daniela may be good support.

plumbago b....you are  so right!!!  It is difficult to see how a somewhat novice will handle all of this.  But the show is not exactly fast-paced or serious.  Apparently she has done it before? And Meeka does not see her as a threat. (especially with Joe - what young woman would want that kind of publicity)  I wish her well.  And did Meeka really mentor Nicole Wallace?

I seriously doubt it, despite any delusions Mika may have. She made quite a name for herself in the political world and I think was even on the View (for whatever that's worth) before going into pure punditry. She has a pretty solid educational background, as well. I think she did quite well for herself without Meek's help.

I never caught a glimpse of her today, darn it! Plunging neckline? Whoa. I was startled when I used to actually watch the show, back in the fun, carefree years when she bothered to wear fashionable, if somewhat inappropriate, cocktail dresses at 6am, that she never wore jewelry. So many of the sheaths cried out for some embellishment. But, sadly, no. Whoever then convinced her that a long scarf was an acceptable stand-in for a lovely chain or pendant or bracelet did her a major disservice.

I wanna apologize because above bc the lady I referred to above as Alet something is actually called Anat Shenker-Osorio, which isn't even close, yikes. 😳 sorry sorry

Anyhoo, she was on Lawrence here:

---> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeHP6jPR5VQ and said dems need to "stop selling the recipe and start selling the brownie", hi, hello, this.

I'm...not sure women at msnbc see each other as threats in the workplace or uhhh make decisions on whether or not to support each other on the basis of jealous romantic psychodramas I just 😂 Tbh actual tee-vee hostility or unfriendliness is usually really really noticeable *cough*the view*cough*. But maybe I'm naive. I mean, who the hell really knows, but people like Kasie, despite being f-ed over pay-wise, and actually having left, has still spoken positively about everyone on MSNBC, so I take that as a good sign.

anyhoo, I'd encourage everyone to watch that TED-thingy thru to the end b4 deciding she got an easy ride. I guess we'll see how she actually does, but I wish her well

I enjoyed Rivendell! Mika! and friends!, but as usual having three other hosts in three other locations was wholly unnecessary and disruptive. Joe was kinda an asshole to Katherine Clarke. Not that she didn't deserve to be challenged, but when you pontificate so long in some remote place that your on-set guest has to remind you she's there and invite herself to speak that's maybe not so great....  But then also he was surprisingly good and calm and respectful with Nikole Hannah-Jones....go figure

I liked Mika's simple non-fussy white comfy sweater thingy. it's a comfortable way to do that subtle trolling thingy in a non-depressing way.

I feel bad for Mika having to carry Joe upstairs ---> i feel like that's a project that would require some wooden logs and a complex mysterious pulley system of ropes and levers. It would be like the Pyramids and Stonehenge and historians would wonder how tf she did it

Stuff like this is the reason I stopped watching this show about a month ago. Haven't missed it at all. Chris Christie's rehab tour is nauseating. And of course, Joe and Mika love this guy and don't question him or push back at all when he says stuff that is just political word salad. I guess he's looking to run for President again ...even after he came in 6th in the first primary the last time and was rated the worst Governor ever of New Jersey.

Did Mika cry this morning after the gross antics of Joe Kennedy?  I couldn't tell, I watch it on mute and listen to other things via bluetooth.
I sympathize if she did, but c'mon girl.  Did you not prep for this and already deal with your emotions?  You're a professional.
What I can give her no leeway on is how freaking close she sits to Joe, and how she mugs constantly.  Their physical proximity and the faces she makes are bizarre.
