Did I just hear Meeks say something about people asking her to speak to her eating disorder (and something about sugar) all the time?  Are these the same people that won't leave Joe alone either?  It's really becoming crystal clear how these two got together.  Now that about half the show is dedicated to mentioning them and their "projects", they should rename the show "Meet the Hucksters".

They seem to be employing a variant of Trump's "many people are saying" trick, where they almost daily cite the "many people" approaching them in airports, at events, or as they claimed today, calling them on the phone to express whatever viewpoint Joe/Mika wants to push.

Joe said there will be a new segment on Morning Joe called"Isn't it ironic.".

Joe mocked Trump for complaining about the charges against Obama's lawyer. It's the same charges as against General Flynn.

Wanted to add, I agree with Mika's viewpoint earlier in the show that the national interest in Mayor Pete seems organic, while Beto O'Rourke leaves the impression of a public relations project.

I think everybody was Beto crazy because of who he was running against.  Now that they are getting a clearer view of him, maybe they aren't as excited (he started to lose me when he sent out that video of him at the dentist, gross).  He also said some things on the campaign trail that made me go wuh?  I am sorry he didn't win his senate race but I am not sure he is ready to be president either.

Mika & Joe need a call centre to answer all the calls they get daily to let them know about Mayor Pete & Tiger Woods.

I wonder if Joe will volunteer to perform with his band at Mayor Pete's campaign events. ?

Oh goodness Oakville I just heard on the replay (I missed the first 45 minutes of the show) of all the people flooding his phone with calls about Mayor Pete.  I almost snorted my coffee out again, they better get busy on that call center!

Mika said that Beto has a contrived candidacy with too many operatives.

I say this as someone who supports Buttigieg:  MJ’s cheerleading of PB also feels contrived.

Joe applauded Bernie Sanders for going on Fox news. Joe said people came up to him during the 2016 campaign to tell him they were bernie sanders voters that would support Trump in the General Election.

Barnicle said multiple administrations have screwed Democratic voters whose factories closed. They will not vote for the elite Democrats.

Adrienne Elrod looks like a younger version of Mika. She even wore one of Mika's sweaters.that she left behind in the Washington studio

You are on fire today my friend, hee!

I can't wait for Bernie's taxes today.  At least it will change the narative for a bit until the Mueller tsunami hits.

Ok I'm on board with this new "Candidate Check Up" segment(s?) about a candidate's health as long as it also covers their healthcare coverage policies in depth otherwise I'm not a fan as I am afraid it is going to become another Meeks vanity segment.

I found it rude for Mika to promote her Know Your Value website to discuss her eating disorder while Senator Amy was talking about her dad's DUI's.

Exactly.  She had to shoehorn her point in when Amy was speaking.  Eating disorders are a horror and so difficult to treat but I just feel Meeks takes so much of the topic away as it seems she just likes to discuss herself and how people need her.

I couldn't care less about Tiger Woods' comeback.   What a disservice to Mayor Pete to create a false equivalency between him and the disgraced golfer.

And then Donny calls them both heroes. Mayor Pete is a hero. He served his country in the military, is trying to make his city better and has an inspiring personal story. But Tiger Woods?!! He hits a ball into a hole and destroyed his family by making a series of extremely selfish choices. How is that comparable? Of course, Donny couldn't resist taking a shot at Hillary at the same time by saying she was not "heroic". That's right Donny. The former First Lady, Senator and Secretary of State has got nothing on Tiger Woods!

I suspect that Donny & Joe are excited that Tiger's past infidelities & DUI's are being downplayed now that his golf career has been resurrected.

In the past, Joe has reminded politicians that it is important to get spouses and other romantic partners to sign non disclosure agreements once the relationships have ended.

Joe criticized Tiger in 2009 for poor optics when various women would come forward on any given day discussing affairs they had with him. This was distracting to his performance on the golf course.

OMG, me too! And the tie-in was just so cringingly awkward: "It just so happens - TOTALLY BY COINCIDENCE - I have a piece up this morning on Know Your Value dot com about eating disorders!"

She plugged KYV again heading into another commercial break.

Between Joe's band and Mika's stupid KYV world tour, I'm getting very weary of them using this show to plug their own stupid pet vanity projects. The fucking world is burning down around us, they helped that happen, and they should show a little damn humility!

This was unbelievable. He practically sneered when it said it. Yeah, Hillary's not a man who screwed around on his wife -- she was just the victim -- and she's definitely not a white man, so of course Donnie wouldn't find her -- as the first woman to ever win a major party's nomination -- a hero. But, I'm guessing a few women and young girls felt a lot of pride in that milestone.

Donnie needs to be off our TV screens yesterday.

And yet Joe was still trying to excuse it this morning.  That's why Donald Trump was on all the time, we told EVERY CANDIDATE to call in whenever they wanted to, but no one else would.

The more I see and hear about Mayor Pete, the more I like him. I wonder, though, how would he fare against the devils, Putin and Un??? He was in the military, so perhaps there's a tough side to him we just haven't yet seen🤔????

Like he said, try being a gay man in Indiana in 2010 running for office.  I have no doubt he's tough as nails.  He doesn't get flustered easily and that may come across as too gentile.  I guarantee Trump wouldn't know what hit him.

If it comes to that, Trump and the RNC will try to shame him for being gay, because that's all they have, and it's going to be ugly.

Great piece.   I didn't come aboard until spring of 2016, when MJ's estrangement from Trump began to flower.   I loved it when the writer surmised that MJ were on their way to becoming the familiar faces of state TV -- that Trump was eyeing them for the position now held by Fox and Friends.   Because you know they would have accepted regardless of how much they protest now.

Mayor Pete seems to be the complete opposite of Trump. Intelligent, well spoken, politically and militarily experienced, but I agree they may just use his sexual identity for attacking him. Let's t hope we have gotten past that prejudice and listen to what he has to say. Go Pete Go!

The Trump campaign made email a liability for Hillary Clinton -- as the Scarboroughs remind us on a daily basis.

Good grief.   Every commentator on the Notre Dame fire feels obligated to wax poetic and philosophical, regardless of how ineloquent they are.

The last few years have taken a toll on me, I guess.   I studied Notre Dame in high school French class and in college art history and western civilization courses.   And I'm just not feeling it.   It's no surprise now when things of beauty and decency are destroyed -- it seems that's the way things are headed these days.   The whole world is on fire, not just Notre Dame.

I get where you’re coming from, but I think a lot of people are looking at it as a symbol of the whole world being on fire. I’m sad because my late mom lived in Paris for twenty years and I just know how devastated she would be by this.

Meanwhile, ace newsreader Mika rattles off a list of precious artifacts that survived the fire and then dourly intones, “All those precious artifacts, lost.” WTF.

This David Brooks interview is sounding suspiciously close to advocating socialism.

ETA There is a plan for saving Notre Dame in case of emergency. Really interesting thread.

So Buttigieg raises less money than Beto over a longer period of time, and the only story is how Buttigieg is amazing because he raised so much money.  Less money than 3 others, though.  "He's 4th YEAH!  Come on our show mayor pete!"
These two idiots.  So cynical.  So transparent.  So so so shallow.  Of course they had a meeting to discuss who to back.  Who would gain them notoriety.  Just like they did with Trump.  They are going to try to put their thumbs on the scale so that Buttigieg's notoriety runs through them.

re: the Notre Dame fire, they do tragedy terribly.  It's embarrassing really.

I still can't believe Joe is comparing the fire at Notre Dame to Sept 11.

One is a tragic accident, a great loss for historical, religious and architectural reasons.

The other is the murder of 3,000 innocent people, and an attack on our Country. If he thinks these two events are the same, I suggest he google "World Trade Center victims jumping to their death".

When you see part of a person's leg laying on the concrete, because she jumped out a 95th floor window instead of burning to death, it kind of puts things in perspective, Joe.

I was watching the France 2 TV network this morning. It was a much more comprehensive analysis of the fire at Notre Dame.  I fast forwarded most of Morning Joe today.

Joe was excited that Bill Weld was running against Trump. He even brought Bill Kristol on the show. Kristol was one of the leaders of the Never Trump movement.

Following up on the Notre Dame fire, I did feel a sense of loss, but does anyone remember when the Islamist radicals, including the Taliban, went on a rampage throughout the Middle East and destroyed monuments and artifacts that were thousands of years older that Notre Dame? I believe one archaeologist was murdered trying to save as many priceless artifacts as he could. I felt the same sense of loss, but the French will no doubt rebuild the Cathedral with donations already pouring in. What the radicals destroyed is gone..... forever. Oh, and is there another word for "iconic"???? Not to complain, but that same word was used over and over and over again!!!!Just asking.🤔

I have a sinking feeling the Westboro Baptist Church and its despicable clones are going to mobilize.

Barnicle truly lives down to his name.  He's just attached himself to this show and adds nothing.  Yeah, the Democrats should go on Faux Noise--the day that 45 goes on Rachel Maddow.

Does Mika utter anything (other than um and wow) that isn't scripted?  "Compate--compare."  The suckfest for Mayor Pete is suckifying, even if you like him.  He was just there and he's coming back tomorrow?  Looks like he's going to get the full Mika treatment.

Interesting little montage, though, of how 45 handles hecklers.

The show is in many ways better with Mika solo.  It feels substantial today, moving from one topic to the next after a decent amount of discussion.   What's missing is Scarborough's glory days interludes and the man-cave back-and-forth about baseball and golf and other things I don't give a shit about.

Mika is always so much better when she's running the show by herself.   I do not understand why she can never be this involved and vocal when her husband is there.   She almost cowers in his presence.   He constantly talks over her, interrupts her, ignores her comments and she just meekly looks down, shuts up, and acts like he hasn't just completely disrespected her.   Mika B. being the name and face of KYV is the essence of irony.

She's doing a pretty good job this morning.   I just wish she could feel this confident and comfortable every morning, but apparently their spousal dynamic does not allow for that.
