Joe:  Democrats are hypocrites - Virginia's Lt Gov. has accusations of sexual misconduct, "late term abortions is a bad look," they support socialism.

Joe was born in 1963. The top marginal federal income tax rate was 91%.

Was the US a socialist hellscape back then?

Tulsi Gabbard is rather strange.  I get her point about understanding the interests of other countries, but she refused to say anything negative about Assad.  She could have at least commented on the internal strife of that country and the shame of millions of people being displaced.

Her Assad blind spot reminds me of Trump's blind spot for Putin.

Good interview with Congressman Crenshaw. He said that troop morale is better with Trump. Ignatius said that Obama made troops fight with one arm tied behind their back.

Crenshaw said you can't control the rural areas of Afghanistan.

I find it strange that Joe & Mika didn't push back when Crenshaw was talking about 1,000 migrants coming across the border per day in parts of Texas where there is no wall.

Crenshaw? Gabbard?

Thank God they had on the always thoughtful Maria Teresa Kumar or the last half hour would have been too much for me.

Actually I noticed Mika give Gabbard a few snarky side glances. Good.

Gabbard brought a Syrian politician as a guest. She is worried about Turkey slaughtering Kurds.

Kasie is asking tough questions to Gabbard about Assad. Gabbard said he is not an enemy to the USA.

Gabbard had to explain to Kasie that the USA mission was to defeat Isis not Assad.

Mika crossed her arms at Gabbard.

Kasie is opposed to Assad slaughtering Syrians.

Gabbard did not back down against Kasie, Mika & Joe.

Joe does not support using WMD's against civilians.

Gabbard is opposed to Regime Change Wars.

Kasie asked Gabbard if he was a good person. She said No!

Joe tried a gotcha ! question on Tulsi about the local paper telling her to focus on her job.

Kasie said the RussiansApparatus that interfered in 2016  are trying to help Tulsi. Kasie had papers saying it was NBC news. Tulsi said the report was

debunked & disproven. Kasie defended the credibility of NBC news. Kasie was very upset at being challenged by Tulsi. Kasie went through the effort of bringing papers to the interview.

It's safe to say that Morning Joe does not approve of Tulsi 's campaign.

Joe, I seem to recall a few people accusing you of having something to do with Lori Klasutis' death.

Gov Northam was not talking about ripping babies from the womb and killing them. He was talking about babies with terminal disorders and discussing with the family their options.

Jesus fucking christ, this is an absolutely horrific situation for any parents to go thru, don't make it worse by lying about it.

For some reason, Joe is being purposefully obtuse and disingenuous on this topic.  There could only be a 3rd trimester abortion if the mother's or the child's life is in danger, and 3 physicians approve the procedure.  Or, if after birth, it becomes apparent the infant's life isn't viable, an humane option would be available.  (how the hell are these things not currently options???? I honestly had no idea)
Also, just like Joe Scarborough, Ralph Northam's main career was as a pediatric neurosurgeon.
Joe can go straight to fucking hell.  He's spreading lies and propaganda like he's a 3rd rate Fox News flunky.

I suspect the only reason someone may have spoken up is because a journalist finally took notice.   I think it shows that all the twitter complaints and emails to MSNBC ultimately mean nothing.   The public only counts when complaints rise to the level of organized boycotts, otherwise we're brushed aside.

Well, to be fair, I do think it's the fact that more and more people on Twitter etc were noticing their mysterious absence that finally got the WaPo journalist's attention. And once it got the WaPo journalist's attention, it probably got the NYPost's attention, which in turn (hopefully) got MSNBC's attention... and if MSNBC then in response decided to check Twitter, Instagram, etc. the level of general discontent would have been evident. So maybe in the end our engagement isn't so futile after all...! As someone else pointed out, Mika has now miraculously added a RED shirt to her clothing rotation LOL.

Re: today's show, can I just say... I was at a dinner party recently and the household's teenage son joined the guests for dinner. The discussion turned to politics and the teenage son jumped in to make a number of observations that were...1) relatively mature for his age 2) but still pretty bland and obvious. But because he's a cute and charming kid we all listened to him with a big dose of goodwill and affection before we sort of went "OK, that's nice honey, now let's get back to what we were actually talking about...". I only mention this because, in many ways, it made me realise this is exactly how I feel when Mika's talking, and how the panelists LOOK like they feel.  I know many of your hate her - I kind of like her, but to be honest, the educator in my just wants to give her a looong sabbatical and a decent reading list. She seems like the kind of person who was too immature for college and could have benefited from doing some studies later in life. I almost feel like her marriage to Joe is insulating her from constructive criticism that could actually help her.

Except that Northam didn't do a very good job of explaining it at that hearing, even though that's what he meant.

It's a hot mess right now here in VA.   (And yes, I'd bet good money it was him in blackface in that photo.)

Mika & Joe's return to the set as well as Mika's decision to abandon the black top is a victory for viewers!

I usually skip over any Congressman/Senator's interview but today I listened to both the Crenshaw and the Gubbard interviews - guess my hands were too busy eating breakfast to hit the remote.  Anyway, the Crenshaw interview is a great example of why I don't usually listen to these interviews - the panel never questions whatever the person says.   1,000 people illegally came across the day he was at the border?  Troops like Trump more?  Then there was a 180 on the Gubbard interview with hostile questions/disbelief from all the panel.

Joe and Co. completely misrepresented the late term abortion issue.

I refused to make an extra effort to return at 8:30.   Did they ask Gabbard about her LGBT position?

David Ignatius confirmed Crenshaw's statements about troop morale being much higher with Trump. I was surprised about the 1000 people coming across the border.

Kasie was very agitated at Tulsi Gabbard. I haven't seen her this mad in a long time.

That old black top she wore all the time in FL?  I wondered why they all had black on, it looked more like a funeral had taken place. Hey Ms Know Your Value - wouldn't you show solidarity with women by wearing white, to represent the suffragette movement?  Oh that's right, you only show solidarity when it suits you.  I forgot how you insulted Christine Blassey Ford.

Uh Rep Crenshaw & David Ignatius?  You might want to read the following.

Two decades of war has eroded morale of American Troops

Oh and this one.

Crenshaw and Ignatius are getting their info from Family Research Council

Thanks teddysmom.

I have to question the very fiber of these people who have no scruples.

Interesting, considering it was a point of controversy about 10 days ago.

I think the current crazy news cycle has switched us to a political version of "dog years". What used to feel like ten months of news now happens in just ten days.

Remember waaay back when Ralph Northam was the only Virginia official in trouble?

Scarborough lauding Mika as some sort of Cassandra regarding the MeToo movement was hard to swallow.   It was a perfect addition to a repertoire that includes other self-aggrandizing hits such as We Warned Everyone Trump Could Win.

When Joe and Mika are at the table in Washington DC having Mike and Willie beam in on split screen from New York is almost as disruptive and unnecessary as having Joe and Mika beaming in from Florida.

Is it just me or has there been something a little low-energy and subdued about these DC shows compared to last week's New York shows? I can't put my finger on why. Is it the brown-colored walls? The shape of the table? camera angles?

Mika's new women make their unimpeded debut! (They're too generous to be called girls). No lapels, collars, plackets, buttons or zippers this morning - instead, a gorgeous chocolate brown ribbed sweater with a wide (?) belt and you know it's leather. The sleeves are long and she's pulling them, self-soothing, like with the scarves. She can see herself in the new-ish monitor in front and slightly to her right. As the show opened they both seemed aware that today is the debut. They're sitting quite close together, and at 6:04 Joe turned toward her to make a point while waving his hands and they both realized at the same time that she sticks out more now. He might've flicked her, at the least it was very close. She pursed her lips to stifle a reaction and did a few quick side-to-sides in her seat, I think to scoot back a little, out of range. LOL

I had something more relevant to say but can't remember what it is. Maybe it'll come to me.

Mika & Joe are still in Washington. Joe's tax free status in Florida is at risk if he spends more than 183 days out of state.

The panel is upset at the positive reactions from the WSJ on Trump' speech.

Joe found a new talking point is that the GOP had the biggest total vote defeat in the history of the USA in 2018.

Heidi smiled at Joe .

Joe is mad at Trump focusing on immigration & the Wall.

GREAT conversation (around the 7AM hour) about the horrible, politically dysfunctional situation we find ourselves with here in Virginia. There is literally no show on TV which will spend so much contiguous time talking about such sensitive matters in an honest manner. This is why I still sit through Joe's bluster and Mika's scarves & drama and continue to watch this show.

Rev Al might want to dial it back re his relationship with Michael Jackson, considering the new documentary and all the allegations.

Re Virginia, does it not dawn on any of these experts that one of the reasons Northam and Fairfax and the AG are hanging in there is because the next in line is that Republican Speaker of the House who won because his name was pulled out of the bowl?  Remember, that election was tied and instead of a run off, they played Powerball with the State House of Representatives.  Democrats don't want the governorship handed to someone who won because his name was on a slip of paper someone grabbed.

I guess no one does opposition research in Virginia anymore.

Monday Recap. Mika & Joe are back in Florida. Mika is wearing her dark blue top. She liked Amy Klobuchar's snowy launch. Joe said that Elizabeth Warren should stop talking about her Native America ancestry.

Mika said Trump is not fit to be President.

Joe said Democrats will lose the next shutdown debate if they oppose detaining criminal aliens.

Mika was puzzled about The Virginia poll that shows that 58% of African Americans want Northam to stay in office.

Everyone's talking points are being repeated today.

The Governors are sending troops back to their states. Trump's border troops is a sham.

I thought it was rich that the former congressman from BF Florida with televangelist hair was railing about the lack of foreign policy experience of any of the potential Democratic candidates for President and that it had been at least 18 years since we'd elected a candidate with any foreign policy experience. And Barnicle pipes up that Biden has wonderful foreign policy experience, neglecting the fact that he's 500 years old.

That was my saturation point this morning. <click>
