Yep. However, if you are being paid to host a daily news show...you should be required to live within commuting distance of the show.  No perks given to your tax situation or family situation.  Unless the family situation is an emergency.

By "they're" I meant anyone who paid high property taxes, not just the "rich" or Joe & Mika.   For example, there are people living in nice N.Va suburbs who pay high property taxes and are feeling the effects of the new tax laws.  They live in nice homes, but they aren't necessarily "rich."

As for Joe & Mika?  No sympathy whatsoever.  They can afford it.

Joe is still in Florida trying to acquire his residency status.

Joe started to make fun of Trump's weight, but Mika wants Trump to take his isssue seriously and make changes to his lifestyle.

Mika recommended her book on eating disorders.

Joe is outraged at AOC for protesting against Amazon.

Joe said Latinos & African Americans support Amazon.

Donny said AOC is dangerous. She wants higher taxes  on the rich .

Donny said that Trump could win re election in 2020 running against AOC.

So after 2 years of Joe assuring everyone that Trump is doomed, now the Democrats are in trouble because of AOC. 's tweets.

This is common on Morning Joe these days. Very little debate once Joe has stated his position.

Amazon was going to move to my neck of the woods (LIC and Astoria). I guess among the throngs of folks Joe speaks to all the time, he didnt bother finding anyone who lives here and was dreading Amazon because it would price everyone out of the area.

AOC is correct in that Amazon didn't need those tax breaks, as they pay no corp income taxes now.  In fact they are receiving a $129 million federal tax rebate.

If he wants breaks on fees to zone and build a site, okay. But if we pay taxes, shouldn't the wealthiest guy and one of the largest companies in the world pay them?

She is not, as Susan insists, doing schtick to get attention.  If Susan has a problem, direct it to the media.  This is a game with them, they get AOC on record saying something that will drive Republicans crazy.  Remember yesterday when Pete Buttigieg said that there is a struggle between democracy and capitalism?

There may not be a "pot of money", but the taxes Amazon would have paid would go to infrastucture, and other public programs. That's what she was talking about.

This was a local issue, Amazon went back to Queens to meet with local officials, city & state, and they wouldn't meet with the Amazon reps.  Here's a brief synopsis of the situation, w/o all the politics from the panelists.

Is it me or is it getting harder to tune in every day?  Same lectures or rants given by the hosts (when they are actually on camera); Willy doing the heavy lifting.  Lots of the same guests bringing the same conversation.

Yes. It is increasingly shrill and nonsensical by the day. Willie and coming here to snark on the show are the only worthwhile things about the situation. I wish they would just give the slot to Willie. He's due.

Also of note to Joe, Susan et al, Amazon wasn't going to build in AOC's district.  And why was Google able to locate in NY without a $3 billion incentive?

Not only that - AOC didn’t lead the charge against Amazon, community activists did. Joe and Donny have no clue about how or why this happened. They just think business good, community bad. That thinking got us the Trump Tax Cut for millionaires (aka Joe’s excuse for moving to Florida). Joe needed an excuse to publicly revert to Trumpism, and AOC is a convenient one.

I was confused by Joe saying that Trump could have built the Wall 2 years ago.

Couldn't the Democrats in the Senate filibuster the bill? I thought the GOP needed 60 votes for that bill.

Last year there was work on a bipartisan bill that would have provided $25 billion for the wall in exchange for  for legal status for Dreamers (kids that were brought into the country by their parents) but the White House  eventually rejected it.

This is so true.  They couldn't even get the basic point that it was Amazon, not anyone from NY, that killed the deal right.

They just wanted to complain about AOC. Looks like she is going to replace Hilary as their punching bag, everything the Democrats do that they don't like will be her fault. Amazon  pulls out of Manhattan? AOC! Trump might win re election? AOC! Ebola in Africa? AOC!

Yesterday it was how dumb does trump think people are? (Actual quote from Joe).   Joe was talking about the wall and trump saying he was already building it, blah blah blah.  trump is toast in 2020.

Today the topic was how the Democrats are handing the 2020 election to trump.

At this rate, Joe's neck will be broken from whiplash before the election get here.

I don't get it. Weren't Cuomo and DiBlasio pissed at Amazon for pulling the plug? Saying they had an agreement?

It's too hard for MJ to have on someone that really knows what they're talking about. Better to have Joe, Donnie, Elise play the blame game.

Usually I like Donnie but today was in the "you should listen to me" mode. Bad look, Donnie.

Cuomo & DiBlasio negotiated the deal without local involvement.  In this article from CNN Business, concerns about housing costs rising, traffic, etc .

Wouldn't it be refreshing if the panel knew what they were talking about?

Agreed. MJ used to be able to attract good guests a few years ago. Now its the same panel almost every day.

Donny is getting too emotional on the set. I remember when he lost his show on MSNBC for insulting Keith Olberman.

I was surprised they got Jeremy Bash. He is usually on the prime time shows, esp. 11th Hour.  He must have slept at 30 Rock last night.  They sure don't get A list guests.

Bradley Cooper was on Colbert last night and it reminded me of when he used to be on Morning Joe a lot, til Mika insulted his movies pre Silver Linings Playbook.

I wonder how much of Amazon's decision was driven by the fact that they came to realize that organizers were going to make a huge push to unionize the facility from the start.

Amazon doesn't do unions.

Well, I think we now know why Amazon chose to announce their withdrawal on Thursday. Friday, this story broke. Amazon made an $11.2bn profit in 2018 but paid no federal tax. News like that would have made it impossible to move forward. People would have stormed DiBlasio's office.

Go ahead Joe, keep telling yourself they are a benevolent institution and that people calling for higher taxes are socialists.

Joe is ranting about border crossings being low now. There is no crisis,

Joe said people around Trump commit crime.

Yes.  And the sun rises in the east and sets in the west.  I kind of have news fatigue at this point; maybe that is why I am not really even enjoying snarking on these two as much as I used to.  We see the same awfulness all day...then on the shows at night.  By the time it gets to Morning Joe, I've heard it 100 times.  Funny, though...I used to enjoy Joe's rants.

Meeka has a rescued cat?  I'm actually sorry I missed that conversation today...wonder if it sleeps in bed with the two of them?  Mr. Kemper has learned to sleep around our two cats; he actually apologizes to one of them if he (Mr. Kemper) has to get up during the night to "go"...and at his age, that is a few times a night.

The Nobel Peace Prize blurb was funny too.

I guess I tuned for the funny factor today. The Chris Wallace/Steven Miller interview was very Rock Em Sock Em Robots good

I was thinking the exact same thing this morning as I was listening to the show in the car on my way to the gym. There was no "news" being broken; it was just a rehash of everything I already knew and typical, predictable reactions from everyone on the set.

Reactions aren't cutting it any more.   It used to gratify and reassure me to see other people shared my POV.   I guess I imagined that as reactions grew and became stronger it would lead to real action.   Seems I was wrong.

I confess to being a very, very casual watcher of this show; i.e., put it on when I can't sleep at 4 am.  I almost never make it through the whole show, out of boredom or frustration.  The one time I made it to 6 am and I saw they were repeating the first hour, it was like WTF?  If you can't fill a three hour slot, give the third hour to someone else who is willing and able to take it.  Dog knows there are enough folks at MSNBC who could fill the bill.

My random observations are this:

It's a completely different show when Joe and/or Mika is not there.  I've seen it a few times when it was just Willie and mostly a roundtable in NY and it's quite nice.  No grandstanding, no preening, no weird sounds, no constant interruptions.  Shows whose guests are all remote feeds feel very disconnected from their hosts, and of course when the hosts themselves are always disconnected, it's even worse.

Mika adds nothing, nothing, nothing.  It's obvious that nobody there is interested in her opinion.  The very few times you hear someone say, what do you think, Mika, it's clearly from a producer prompt.  Nobody gives a fuck what she thinks about anything, especially me.  I get more out of Kate McKinnon's SNL impersonation of her.

It's the most undisciplined feed ever.  Mika is trying to stumble over her prompter and go to break or introduce a segment and Joe always, always runs her over with some verbal diarrhea or such and hijacks the flow.

They're both in love with their own voices.  I almost lost it the day after Mittens's op-ed when Mika was practically orgasming, over and over for two hours, at the prospect that Mittens was going to stand up to 45.  Within 48 hours the story was dead, dead, dead.  And Joe?  He usually doesn't sound too bad in his WaPo op-eds, probably because they have editors, but give him an open mike?  Feh.  He thinks because his name is in the title of the show that his is the only opinion that counts and should therefore be the longest and the loudest.

That's so true, at least for me.  By the time these jokers come on the air, I've already watched Chris Hayes, Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell who were on basically just a few hours before, who've actually had meaningful things to offer.  I give people like John Heilmann (love him!) props for going on the late MSNBC shows and coming back to participate in the drivel of the early hours.

Oh, and props to @oakville for the wonderful little running weecaps/liveblogging.

Oh, FFS, Joe is on his diatribe again about the Kavanaugh “rape factory” allegations and I just can’t with this shit.

He and I went to college at roughly the same time, and if he says he never attended a fraternity party where the hosts spiked the punch with the express intent of getting women so drunk they couldn’t say no, then I can’t believe anything he says.

In the last year, Mika often used this over dramatic voice that I found irritating.  Hearing her normal voice this morning, I appreciate the difference, and remember that this is how she used to sound. It is much better and reminds me of when we first started to watch MJ.

We tuned in about 8:15.  Meeka is really hyper and enthused/shrill.  I saw the push for Joe and his band's appearance.  They were discussing Bernie's announcement.  Since I didn't see the beginnings of the show...did they discuss William Barr's son-in-law quitting his (maybe Justice Department) job and going to work in the Trump White House.?

Sometime between 6:30 & 7:00, they were talking about Harris' visit to New Hampshire, and I swear to God Mika said Kamala Harris' prebottle to Sanders", when she meant "rebuttal".  She said it more than once.

Did anyone else hear this?  Was she trying to make a joke that no one else got?

That clip of Amy Klobuchar was rather jolting.  Joe must be advising her on how to address more progressive issues.  Just say no.

My sister wants to know what's up with Mika's scarves.  Old Mika is back. White short hair, boobs on high alert, Unitarian scarf. Bitching because the producer yelled at her for missing cues.  Promoting Joe's garage band. Was that a photo of Trump on the poster? So his band's hook is anti Trump music?  After about 5 minutes of that the crowd must start yelling "put on the juke box".
