One that I would put the least stock in is that JH, during his break from his primetime NBC show, will return to Y&R to tape additional scenes. I can't imagine why NBC would allow that.

Unless his contract rules it out, how is what he does in his off season their concern?  It's like doing a movie or a guest appearances or what have you.  Besides which, his contract may not be with the network but with a production company that couldn't care less.

Re. JT... it may not be who he's fucking but how he's testing... focus groups, all that malarky... it might be he's more popular elsewhere than here.  Not sure.  No skin in that game but there are a lot of reasons they'd coddle and over promote him that have to do with money and viewers rather than favouritism.

Finally... Muhney back?  Wow.  In the rumoured backstage cesspit of Y&R, with all those nasty tweets when news was breaking, how the hell do they bring back Muhney?  I thought he was a talented enough performer - though JH equalled him, at the least, showing no one is irreplaceable - but he's just so connivingly full of himself on social media... I mean, what a blow hard/humble bragger.  If he comes back redeemed he will be insufferable.  Then again, he and Sharon Case were, IMO, great together and she dropped that odd Adam line in that interview... and God knows MM's redemption and return would generate buzz... I feel it's likely.   Madness, but likely.  And, hey, I don't have to read his Twitter so if he's good on screen with good story, I doubt I care.  Still, wow... if this happens it's verging on Lazarus.

that said, I'm over Adam as a character. There was no true recovery from the baby switch/ gaslighting thing and JFP turned him into a slightly more intelligent Nick. Stick a fork in me.

I believe a slightly more intelligent Nick is called a door knob.

I just don't know about this Michael Muhney thing. He's so polarizing and tends to eat up message boards. He had even less chemistry with Chelsea than JH did.

I agree about Munhey's polarization. I thought TWOP Howard was the most overbearing C-U-Next-Tuesday of a moderator I've dealt with on any message board, but I was never sad when she'd shut down the MM talk that took over that Y&R thread. No character--not Victor, not Sharon, and not even ButtBiscuit--has been as polarizing.

It seems Muhney BFF Sharon Case was dropping "Adam" in interviews for a reason. MCE was clear Adam's not coming back as far as she knows. MM is probably trying hard to make it happen by "dropping" hints. I can't imagine it. That was some nasty stuff on Twitter - from a lot of the cast.

I would be SHOCKED.

Phyllis can carry some funny scenes but not JT. I still like my idea of Clo swiping her some Billy juice to hatch a nuvo-Delia...only  she grabbed the wrong Abbott's spume. (Hey, it's GC General) and Jack has to get his Bella away from her....so Phyllis comes home...having signed the divorce papers 'Bug McHollowthighs' and we can have ROM-COM (....Mal...) with Phyl tottering around the Abbott manse holding a baby at arms length while Jack throws pillows on the floor.

Because Y&R competes for ratings with NBC daytime programming? He'd be helping the "enemy".

Maybe, but since he's not on NBC daytime I don't see how what he does in his off time would make a difference.

Is NBC daytime a different entity than the NBC that produces their nighttime programming? Because if they're all under the same overall umbrella, he'd be working for their direct competition. It might not be a big deal if JH was little more than a day player but he was a boon to Y&R and is now one to NBC. I don't see it happening unless he specifically has an out in his NBC contract that allows it.

(And in many cases I do think actors are contractually prohibited from doing certain things in their off time. For example, lead performers perhaps can't go off and do porn or engage in activities where they could get seriously injured.)

Yeah, one reasonably reputable site is reporting that JH filmed some scenes before he left that directly impact the fate of Christian. Other sites, less reputable, are using that info to put forth their own click-bait-y theories. One that I would put the least stock in is that JH, during his break from his primetime NBC show, will return to Y&R to tape additional scenes. I can't imagine why NBC would allow that.

ETA: gotta hope, if the rumors are true about the secret scenes, that this is how Chelsea will find out the truth about her dear friend Chloe.

ETA2: and the Muhney stans are spreading spumors that he's returning to the role of Adam. Biggest clue they're claiming? A positive mention of him recently in CBS Soaps in Depth, a semi-official network rag. I'm prepared to fall into shock after eating my hat if this actually happens. It could certainly lead to a ratings boon after all the ugly scandal and innuendo associated with his departure. Everyone loves a good comeback story.

Okay, I was going to post something here last week about this SID magazine article (which had to do with his Cubs support). I honestly believe if he had been in the type of soup that he was being trashed with that CBS would not be featuring anything at all about him in one of their daytime rags. Everything that was out there a couple of years ago was on the internet. Anyone can spike rumors, innuendos and downright boldface lies about anyone they choose to on the internet, in the press and on social media. Just look at what Twitter has done over the last several years.  I won't press into the matter any more deeply, but I actually found that development interesting but I won't say that I thought was spreading out tea leaves for any future he might have with the show or otherwise. One thing that my husband mentioned to me the other day had to do with a possible non-compete agreement he may have made with CBS when he was let go from the show. He had just months before (I believe in summer before his ejection), he had signed a new multi-year deal. Don't know what number of years were involved in this, but it's possible that CBS agreed to pay him for a portion or maybe even most of it, and he had to agree not to seek out work on other soaps. I know it's a common practice in the media with news anchors and others when there's been a dispute or disagreement, kerfuffle, etc. and they want to oust the anchorperson and they're in the middle of a contract that has years to go. Just a thought.

What TIIC already have in the can for Adam's eventful 2nd return from the dead/avoiding jail time for the escape/taking possession of CAN from SharonDylanNickVictorStateofWisconsin we don't know. What JHs contract agreement between NBC and Sony/Bell Dramatic Serial Company has not been made public and is up for speculation.

The filming schedule for JHs NBC show will be complete before the end of December. Many actors have provisions that allow for work with competing production groups that do not present scheduling conflicts; scheduling conflicts are negotiable.

Because JHs participation in This Is Us is ensemble, his scenes could be filmed and produced on an truncated schedule and he would still be available to show-and-go for Y&R when his TIU season filming completed. The shows are produced a half mile apart; they aren't filmed in separate worlds, but in the same neighborhood.

I expect JH will be returning because of all the scenes where Chelsea, Chloe and Victor are mooning over Adam's photo, and TIIC haven't leaked to media or gone nuclear over a recast.

That could be; JT may have brought some fangirls from Genital Hospital and there might be some viewers that have warmed to his NotBilly Abbott -- this smirking, sneering one-note nostrilgoggles characterization -- JTs charms elude me, but I'm totally baffled by most of JFPs choice in romantic male actors.

I think it has more to do with JT having a contract that is prohibitive to buy out, considering the expenses of a the installation of the new regime and writers, while still bailing water for Chuck Pratt's mistakes and saddled with paying his salary.

MM operating as his own publicist again? All those purchased blind items on social media not get him anywhere? How the mighty have fallen ...

The longer MMs been off of Y&R, the more obnoxious and brazen his lobbying has become, and damaged his career prospects. He was fired, the rumor mill ground innuendo and outrage, he went to the media and burned his his bridges with Y&R, then when he went on to grind about his superiority.

MM needed to spend as much time on his career as he wasted on social media. Producers aren't interested in working with a sidelined and defensively resentful primo uomo (male equivalent of a prima donna). There are plenty of actors to chose from that don't carry the baggage or attitude.

That's true but in this case it was the head of CBS Daytime speaking through her husband to TMZ (whose employee he was at the time). I doubt someone that high up in management would put themselves or the network at legal risk if there wasn't something somewhat truthful behind it. I'm of the opinion that maybe what happened is actually worse or more embarrassing for all the parties immediately involved and what we've heard is basically a cover story. That said, the reference upthread to a possible non-compete agreement seems interesting. But would any of the other soaps have hired him if they could? Yeah he had/has a fairly loyal/rabid fanbase but he also comes with a lot of negative baggage in the form of his ego-based shit-stirring with co-workers and soaps fans who dare to criticize him or his work. I dunno, it looks to me like the guy has been all but blackballed in Hollywood for the foreseeable future. And if CBS does still have JH's services available, MM's possible return is moot anyway.

From Wikipedia:

In 1958 Braeden, then known as Hans Gudegast, won the German National Team Championship in Track and Field (discus, shot-put and javelin with the Rendsburger TSV). Braeden later went on to win the 1973 National Challenge Cup as a fullback with the Jewish American soccer club Maccabi Los Angeles, scoring the winning goal in the semifinal and a penalty kick in the final against Cleveland Inter.[8] In the 1970s/80s he could often be seen boxing at the Hoover Street and Broadway gyms in L.A.[9] His son, Christian, is a screenwriter who wrote the film A Man Apart, which starred Vin Diesel.

 Also:

Braeden announced on October 18, 2009 that after almost 30 years on The Young and the Restless, he was leaving the show. "We reached an impasse in the negotiations", Braeden said in an exclusive interview with celebrity news website EW.com. Braeden's last airdate was scheduled to be November 2, 2009; however, on October 23, CBS announced that Braeden had inked a new three-year deal and would remain with the soap, even agreeing to take a pay cut, which was the original issue.

ICAM.

Pratt was too expensive to buy out as well. And clearly he was not remotely respected in the building (post JFP). Cripes he was still giving soap mag interviews about storylines when it appeared he no longer had a free hand in writing.

JT also has a number of advantages -- next to no males in his age group on show and the fact that he is the zillionth recast of Billy. Viewers would struggle with yet another. Only if Billy Miller came back would it work IMO. And I'm still holding out hope for that.

BM recently resigned with GH. From what I understand, they shoot multiple episodes at a time, or at least scenes from multiple episodes at a time. Something like that. Basically, it's appealing to actors who want to work on other things, which he does.

From what I gather BM was a poor replacement for Jason, much like nuRidge on B&B. If TPTB don't make Billy completely front and center as the character was back when Miller was taking off to do his projects, I'd be fine with him returning.

Pratt could have an early-release rider in his contract that made it prohibitive to send him packing.

By doing interviews for SLs he's not directly writing, it gives the impression he's large and in charge. And that seems to be the most important thing as he limps into obsolescence on Y&R.

JT's main disadvantage is that he's a talentless hack, and his depiction of NotBilly has no redeeming value.

Sadly, it appears TIIC are breaking up Travis and Victoria to mash Victoria and NotBilly together unhappily ever after, again ... Travis is being wasted on the soon-to-be Stitch-Free Abby; I expect Travis to be schtupping Ashley by Memorial Day 2017. <blerg>

With any luck, Stitch (divorced from Abby) and Dylan (divorced from having to carry any more MyPolar water for Sharon) will marry, move to Minneapolis and buy a pre-war craftsman fixer-upper ... Max is transferred to another rehabilitation facility, where tightening the bolts in his neck help marginally, but he's still a murderous little wombat.

TIIC have options but they choose not to exercise them. They could bring back a recast and slightly older Kyle. Gnomeo was an utter dope with Dumber, but he could be written smarter, glad to rid of her fickle ass, and wants to work with Jack and Ashley at Jabot. I've always thought it was wrong Jack was written essentially childless, when he has two sons anywhere but by his side.

There's Noah; Robert Adamson's not much of an actor, but can fill a suit in a pinch.  Sharon is in deep shit; her marriage is done in all but the shouting and tearful justifications, and she's isolated. Noah could return to support and keep an eye on Sharon, while Marissa is off bonding with her daughter or some other excuse.

Deacon Sharp has been mentioned as a blind item on GC Buzz. He could go a long way pot stirring and skirt chasing, causing someone to regret the day they were born.

Is there any chance they're going to send him after Sharon? He's hardly rich or influential enough (or at all, actually) for her usual tastes but she may be so beaten down after this latest mess that she'll be ripe for Deacon's picking. Bleh, I'd rather they sent Travis after her but all signs point to his keeping it in the same gene pool and bouncing over to the walking coat hanger known as Abby. (When was the last she got a man who hadn't already been in one of her relatives?)

Travis being wasted on Sharonsane would be even worse than him being wasted on Abifail. At least Failure doesn't appear to be unstable. Sharon hopping from one relationship to the next is part of her problem. She needs to learn how to take care of herself without a man.

Written in letters of fire and bronze, LP!

The character's been retrogressive for a long time, based on the above. And she's never been immune to self-justification and self-delusion [BMW trunk, just saying].

But this storyline, for which I'm sure the writers have built some massive pieces of exculpatory shit-bricks [for which her fans will wait with bated breath], defies both reason and interest.

The Deacon Sharpe mention is odd to me. Was he ever anyone important here? He was here a few months, mostly as part of Amber's exit story with little Eric. Aside from dumpster fucking Phyllis and being Nikki's celibacy buddy that week (I think), I'm at a lost as to anyone on the canvas who would give any fucks about him.

Still, Deacon is wasted on B&B, as are all the actors there with anything resembling talent.

Oh, please. Sharon has known for months that "Sully" is actually Christian and kept that a secret from Nick and Dylan. She even conned Mariah into helping her keep it a secret. She's not insane now nor incarcerated in a mental institution. She knew exactly what she was doing. The excuse she used about not wanting Dylan to lose another child is ridiculous at best. She deserves everything she gets from now on. This is just stupid.

I don't know if this has been posted. Eric Braeden(Victor) has a book coming out next year. I'm writing a book in response titled, "Thank God for Closed Captioning, Mumbles".

"Titled I'll Be Damned, Braeden's book will share the actor's life story in a way never experienced by fans of the German-born actor. From his war-torn childhood afflictions to his journey creating one of the most well-known soap opera characters in the history of the genre, there's certainly a lot of material for the Emmy winner to pull from."

And this:

ML: The Billy and Phyllis hookup left both characters hugely unsympathetic. There’s no reason to give a damn about either one.
SSM: They’re unlikable. I agree 100 percent. That story was done at the expense of both characters. They will not be together anymore. That ship has sailed. It’s one thing that they were drawn to each other. Phyllis certainly had motive for making emotional decisions. What Victor did to her was absolutely disgusting.
