Based on the results of a trial in Kenosha, it is no wonder residents of Genoa City regularly get away with murder.

This is not meant to be a political statement, just an observation of the laws in Wisconsin.

Almighty Father, come to the help of our friend Jewel and deliver her from uncertainty. All trials of life are under Your care and that all things work for the good of those who love You. Still her fear, anxiety and distress. Lead her to face and endure her difficulty with faith, courage and wisdom, and that this trial may bring her closer to You. We trust in Your love and compassion. Smoke billows from the Conemaugh Generation Station in New Florence, Pa., Feb. 6, 2007. Climate change isn’t what’s driving some U.S. coal-fired power plants to shut down. It's the expense of stricter pollution controls on their wastewater. Those that intend to close include two of Pennsylvania's largest coal-fired power plants, Keystone and Conemaugh outside Pittsburgh, which said they will stop using coal and retire all of their generating units by Dec. 31, 2028, according to regulatory notices obtained separately by The Associated Press. Well, I overcooked the shit out of my turkey. Anyone else have any TG drama?

Been there, done that. Turkeys are easy to dry out. This hack salvaged a birthday dinner (I didn't put enough compound herbed butter under the skin).

This year the second casserole of dressing got scorched and we ran out of gravy.

<shrug> It's always something.

It was only my roommate and myself. I can't afford to entertain anymore, plus the depression and health issues are too much. And the pandemic, of course. The turkey was pretty greasy/fatty and the largest they had in the store and was only 15 lbs. They were all about 13-15 lbs. They used to be much bigger and it used to be hard to find a smaller one at about 17-18 lbs. Times have changed. We missed out on the free turkey last time the grocery store had them because they ran out, so we got one as soon as we were eligible. We didn't want to chance not getting one this time. (At this point we're putting all the groceries on a credit card. Times are tough.) I spent some time deboning the turkey this morning. I had to take a break so I'll finish later. Then I'll be making some turkey broth to freeze, along with putting most of the meat in the freezer. And tonight when I heat some up for dinner I will also take all of the turkey skin and spread it out in a pan in the oven and crisp it all up so it's all really crunchy. It's irresistible!

I used to have a cat who would sit with me when I deboned the turkey and I would give him all the veins and soft, slimy bits like that. He loved them. It was a special thing we always did together. Now it's a treasured memory for me.

Hey y'all.....

Little late to the 'how I ate my Thanksgiving dinner' chat.  Covid is still kicking my ass, have had a rough November so I told the guys they were in charge of dinner   Neither one cook so I told them it can be Mickey D's...I. don't. care. as long as I don't have to cook.....first time in 40+ yrs.  Well....hubs picked up the dinner for six from Bob Evans.  OMG.....we are only three (but these boys can eat and it was for the whole weekend).  Turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green beans, mac & cheese, cranberry sauce, rolls, and a pumpkin pie.  We ate for 3 days on that and boychild took a bunch home Sunday.  I still have enough ham in the freezer (my best friend) for a nice breakfast.  Everything was delicious.  We had club sandwiches for lunches.  I highly recommend it if you're ever in a pinch.  They're all over here in our area and I know they are expanding all the time.  They started right here in southern Ohio and we've been eating there for all our lives.  * just googled and they're in 18 states all in the midwest and mid Atlantic states*.

Anyhoo...hope you all had a wonderful holiday.

OhioSongbird, I'm so sorry that you're still suffering so much from Covid.  That long haul Covid crap seems to be just awful and I'm sorry you're having to live with it.

Hubby and boychild did well in ordering the food instead of trying to make it.  Thanksgiving isn't a day for amateurs to try out on.  Sounds like Bob Evans did you good.  How was the pie?

Take care.

Yeah...I'm lucky on that front.  My BIL (hub's brother) has it bad, too and he says hamburgers/pizza taste like sawdust.  Now, the irony is I love food and love to cook.  Don't have an appetite anymore  for the first and no energy to do the latter.  I've lost about 15 lbs, too and I ain't that big to begin with.

My biggest problem is the fatigue.  I sleep 2-3 hours during the day (cat naps) and  sleep well at night for the most part.  Every evening I start fading about 9-10pm.  20 yrs ago I would be cranking up the first set with the band about then.

Ah, the good old days.

Michael Nesmith, who attained TV and pop stardom in the Monkees and later became a prophetic figure on the Los Angeles country-rock scene and then a multimedia entrepreneur, died Friday of natural causes. He was 78.

Nesmith’s final show was less than a month ago, when he and the cohort who is now the Monkees’ only surviving member, Micky Dolenz, capped a farewell tour at L.A.’s Greek Theatre Nov. 14. The duo were booked for a cruise in early 2022 that was to have served as a truly final gig together.

The group’s and Nesmith’s manager, Andrew Sandoval, confirmed the death on social media.

“It is with deep sadness that I mark the passing of Michael Nesmith. We shared many travels and projects together over the course of 30 years, which culminated in a Monkees farewell tour that wrapped up only a few weeks ago,” said Sandoval. “That tour was a true blessing for so many. And in the end I know that Michael was at peace with his legacy which included songwriting, producing, acting, direction and so many innovative ideas and concepts. I am positive the brilliance he captured will resonate and offer the love and light towards which he always moved.”

Lanky and laconic, with his head crowned by a trademark wool watch cap, Nesmith served as singer and guitarist, and sometime songwriter, for the Monkees, the Beatles-styled quartet assembled for NBC’s hit 1966-68 musical comedy series.

During their brief reign as TV stars, the “Pre-Fab Four” actually outdid their British inspirations commercially. Their first two albums, “The Monkees” and “More of the Monkees,” were back-to-back No. 1 LPs, holding the top of the chart for 31 consecutive weeks in 1966-67. The group logged two more No. 1 collections by the end of 1967.

Their hit 45s included three No. 1 singles, “Last Train to Clarksville,” “I’m a Believer” and “Daydream Believer,” and three other top-five entries, all of which were propelled by weekly exposure on their network show.

Bad SantaCon: how the event went from anti-capitalist protest to day of debauchery

I hate SantaCon. It's horrible. It's always been debauchery. I've been in NYC coincidentally for a few of them. I've seen little tiny children on the street seeing all of these drunk "Santas" and drunk sexy Mrs Clauses and then looking confused and trying to ask their parents about it. It's just so wrong. Santa is for little kids. Cosplay as children's themed things is fine behind closed doors, but not out in the streets where children are exposed to it. And all these drunk Santas, Elves and sexy Mrs Clauses are drunkenly obnoxious - on the trains, streets, in the bars. They are just awful.

HO-HO-HO from O-hio!

Getting ready for the feast.  Made a couple of things ahead today (popped 'em in the freezer) and Peaches awesome dip for veggies/crackers.  Boychild is bringing our favorite ribs & sides and pulled pork for sandwiches.  A weekend to over-indulge and veg out.  Got It's a Wonderful Life ready to go (finally bought my own copy).  It's just not Christmas without watching that.  A tradition here.

Everyone have a Merry Christmas or wonderful whatever holiday you celebrate!

And Merry Christmas to you and all the Songbirds! Wishing you health and peace for the New Year.

Your menu sounds scrumptious! We graze and eat until we're tired the entire holiday, too. <sigh>

We're having a birthday party for my sister (Bea) on Christmas Eve. Her favorite meal is Beef Welington, double-stuffed potatoes, roasted root vegetables, divinity salad, corn pudding, Ceasar salad, red velvet cake.

I'm in charge of appetizers Christmas Eve and Day (Cut vegetables and buttermilk dressing, fresh fruit, stuffed mushroom caps, empanadas, gallon of Peaches' onion dip and Ruffles, charcuterie/cheese board, with pate', herbed butters, mustards, bread and crackers, Kentucky Hot Brown bites, hot Ruben dip, artichoke and spinach dip, three cheese fondue), and Christmas Day breakfast (apple or rum raisin pannekoekens, ham and cheese egg bake, cinnamon rolls, Danish, cracked wheat toast, jam, fresh fruit, Swiss raclette with fingerling potatoes.

We had ThanksChristmas with the Stunt-in-law's and work Christmas party yesterday (deli food, grocery gift cards and bonuses, $8 Pink Elephant). I'll seed my David Hasselhoff Chia Pet for a Rose Parade project.

I've been sick since Thursday and I did a home test yesterday that came up positive. I stood in the freezing cold for over 4 hours today to get officially tested at a testing center. No results yet, but my uncle is already blaming me because I attended a work related Christmas party. I don't even know if that's where I got sick since a lot of patients at my work have been calling in sick because they came in contact with positive cases. I could just as easily have caught this at work.

Anyway, now my uncle, cousin, her mom, Gramps, and my nephew are all getting sore throats.

I already feel bad but should I test positive I will never hear the end of it from my uncle. Especially, if God forbid, something were to happen to Gramps.

My heart goes out to you, Jewel21.  But don't let these jerks mess with you.  This is a pandemic and if they haven't been paying attention as to how to protect themselves, then they deserve anything that happens.  Since when do you have responsibility for them staying healthy?  Do they even care that you might have a life threatening disease?  My vote is tell them to fuck off.
