Was hoping for Commanders/Bills.  
I’ll still watch because what else am I going to do. 

I grew up watching Washington games with my dad until we got the Panthers and that was our new “home” team.

Damar Hamlin is really the only reason I care about the Bills (but he had a few bad penalties tonight). When his incident happened I was in the beginning stages of dealing with heart issues/surgeries/allowed sports with my 10 year old. It hit close to home. 
 

When they decided the Bills didn’t get that one first down I knew the game was over.

I'll root for KC because I'd like to watch history being made with a 3-peat Super Bowl, plus I hate the Eagles. But I would really have liked to see the Bills finally get back to the Super Bowl. I like Sean McDermott, Josh Allen, and the crazy Bills Mafia. Hopefully next year we'll see different teams in the Super Bowl.

Brady beat Mahomes in the Super Bowl and was MVP of the game.  He's always going to have that over him.

The graphic above is worth the laugh, especially in the moment.  However, and I'm really speaking for myself, I do hope for a good game in 2 weeks.  Maybe try again next year to those 30 teams that didn't get the job done.

Anyway, for me, I still am hoping for a good game.  This does echo comments made the last time the Big Game was at the Super Dome, which occurred a couple month before the Boston Marathon.  So I actually do not hope for anything bad to occur despite the fact that the match-up is a super boring one.

A boring one on paper.  Sure the black hole thing is a joke but Philadelphia and Kansas City were the best teams if not one of the best teams this season to the level where they were fortunate but capitalized when it counted the most

Same here, plus I like Andy Reid and Spags.  But, while I don't have the same fondness for the Bills you do, I would have rather been rooting for them against the Eagles -- while I like things about the Chiefs, I also dislike enough things about them I am getting sick of them.

Tough sports day.  Weekend was okay, but personally I'm fortunate Jannik Sinner had a successful defense.

Yeah, I love Spags & Andy Reid too.  Sure people like Nick Wright & Travis Kelce can be a pain.  Mahomes can be both a pain and pretty decent, so it's neutral for me.  So there's some love for KC.

Not really sure what I can worship in terms of Philly stuff.  Yeah they're passionate, but the NFC East would be more accomplished on average without their existence

My parents usually come over for the Super Bowl and we eat and watch the game but this year they are going out of town. I’ll still make food for my kids and I but will probably just watch in bed and change channels in between plays.

I agree with everyone’s sentiments on this SB, and I know others are skipping or half-ass watching it as well. Our entire household doesn’t want to watch it and just turn on the TV for the halftime show. Last year I didn’t watch the second half because if I don’t see those fools winning, it doesn’t exist in my brain.

Here is a screen shot of the play immediately before the supposed turnover on downs.  Why didn’t Buffalo challenge the spot?  Even if it was ruled short,  it would have been 4th and inches. Josh Allen would have had way better chance to convert it than the 4th and 1.   Just saying…….

I probably have to follow the shows today to get a better answer (and it may have been addressed already (on Get Up, First Take, the Facility).  Maybe it was mentioned on SVP or Prime Time.

Feels like forgoing what made you great all year (for example, having someone like Derrick Henry or Marshawn Lynch on your team only to do something else).

I think Buffalo felt like they'd review that upstairs with the 2 minute warning around that spot.  If it was upheld, they'd save a time out whereas if they used it for the review before the 2-minute warning, they'd only have a couple.  Probably not great but it's not uncommon to blunder in a big game.  Not super egregious but fatally unfortunate.

Speaking of this game, and from LeBatard's poll above, something that I've thought of in the past including the past several weeks is to do away with conferences.  I may or may not live to see it, but I think back to the 90s and the great games with the powerhouse teams from the NFC (New York, Washington, Dallas, San Francisco), where the winner was going to be the eventual champion (except they still had to play the game).  Then in the 2000s and 2015 Manning vs Brady.  NFC winner was playing for second place during that timeframe

In time, I wouldn't be opposed to seeing a move away from conferences, to where we're getting the best teams playing for the title.  I agree with those that said (last week) the AFC winner was going to win the Super Bowl.  I don't really see this year's Philly or Washington team toppling this year's KC or Buffalo team.  Of course, I didn't see New York topping New England 17 years ago, but given all of the changes in the league, I would not be opposed if the NFL did away with conferences and ranked the best 14 teams.  Maybe award the top 2 division winner the advantage, but then you'd also avoid a 13 win team having to travel to a 10 win team's venue.  Finally, may more neutral site games (2 more for the semi round)

Even before his Achilles' injury, it seemed pretty obvious that many of his team mates were less than enthralled with De Shaun.  I doubt that they wanted or needed his presence on the sidelines.  From all accounts, he is completely self-centered and not a team player in any sense of the word.  Just one more reason why he has no future as a broadcaster.

By the way (and I might be mistaken), I don't think The Swift Gate is as epic this year around.  It's still epic but I don't sense it being completely off the hook.  The saying is too much of a good thing isn't as such going forward.

If it's still a thing then the league has nothing to worry about in terms of viewer interest.  The NFL probably still doesn't anyway but it'll be interesting to see the final numbers in a couple of weeks.  I don't think someone winning 3 straight is enough to generate interest, and I don't think it was bigger than a team going for its 19th win to complete a season without a loss.

Still, the numbers will be high, and maybe the execs will stretch those enough to top last year after seeing that the numbers dropped from Super Bowl 58

I don't know, if you're a sports fan in general, I think seeing a potential 3 peat in any sport generates interest. I haven't watched more than 10 minutes all year, and I'll be watching again. I'm hoping we're doing the live chat again here because I'll be munching on my homemade chili cheese nachos and wanting to chit chat about the game. 

I know hindsight and all that, but playing the game out as it was, kicking the extra points instead of going for 2 both times, you're probably tied at 31 and going to OT. Coaches tend to outcoach themselves, when bottom line the objective is to put points on the board.

Only if I could be guaranteed ahead of time that the Bills win 72-0, pleasing me and most of the rest of the decent world and embarrassing Taylor Swift so much that she publicly dumps Travis Kelce before halftime for being such a loser and immediately blocks that trash Brittany Mahomes on all platforms and then writes six songs about how she and the Chiefs are never, ever, ever getting back together.  That would at least take care of one of our national nightmares.

People will talk about refereeing with the Chiefs and ymmv but an underrated advantage for the Chiefs and before them the Patriots was having a very very good coordinator that no one wanted to hire away as head coach.  

The first three Pats Super Bowl had Charlie Weis and Romeo Crennel, neither of whom were hot commodities. Their departures in 2004 lead to the relative dry spell. The second three Pats Super Bowls had Josh McDaniels and his baggage  

This Chiefs era has Steve Spagnulo who has been a wizard. If anyone can figure out a way to disrupt the Tush Push it’s him. At this point if you were a division rival to the Chiefs like the Raiders you might have considered hiring away Spagnuolo as a move to weaken the Chiefs as much as to gain a coach.

At this point, I just hope the commercials are good!  We'll record the game and let it get ahead, while checking the score online occasionally.  Depending on how it's going will determine if we go back and watch it or not. I may have to FF the game and just stop to see the commercials!  We rarely watch the halftime show anymore. 

Recording the game and deciding later whether to watch it is the way to go if you loathe a particular team.  It's less stressful that way!

Same here.  That's petty BS.  Can't recall this second the response 2 years ago.  Wonder what will happen one week from Sunday.

 

One thing I don't love, speaking of the Eagles victory, is people refraining from acting like they've been there before.  I get the street celebrations.  Those are fun.  Having recently been part of those a lot from 2006-2017 were worth it.  Some people kept it civil, others went next level.  The rest stayed out of the way.  Guess 1960, the 70s and the very early 90s were enough.  And those were.

The problem with going next level is the consequences from doing so, and those can be fatal.  Upon learning from the fate of a fan from Philadelphia, I can tell you that there was nothing funny about that outcome, period.  At (the very) least for me.  However, I hate but have to admit that I didn't feel super bad either.  While I didn't feel sorry, the situation sucks.  The reason I wasn't emotionally moved is basically summed up within my post here.

At the end of the day, the feeling I had was neutral.  I'm not happy because it's a loss of life, but at the same time, it was a very unnecessary decision made by a grown man.  How many times have we been told to act responsibility.  So that is unfortunate big time but all that can be done is recall that fatal outcome & learn from it.

I'm not going to link to the incident.  I think it's graphic enough, and a Google search such as "Eagles man dies parade" will result in the content if one is interested.  Not really a grown man, but technically due to his age, as he was old enough to vote & serve for the country.  Just didn't have to happen.  I'd probably pass out just thinking about celebrating in that manner, but that's just me.
