S07.E23: Secrets Revealed

It apparently is a "thing", which I only recently learned from a friend when helping her select a dress for a wedding. She told me this was common knowledge and I told her she was nuts and researched it myself. It has to do with the fact that red tends to be very attention-grabbing. People wearing red tend to stand out more, and could potentially take focus away from the bride or wedding party. Since the general rule at a wedding is to never do anything that might upstage the bride, many people consider wearing red to be very rude.

Yeah, not wearing black, white, or red to a wedding is an old-fashioned (IMO) concept. Red is becoming more acceptable though, and isn't considered as big of a breach of etiquette as it used to be. As it is, different regions, cultures, and communities have different standards. A lot of bridesmaids dresses are apple red or maroon. Meh. It doesn't bother me too much but I would avoid it to avoid rocking the boat depending on the bride.

Kristen's dress was pretty, and I thought she looked great during the party. Carole looked pretty in it as well.

I'm surprised Carole isn't writing an entire book based on dating younger men.

Hilarious that all the women had dreams involving teeth. And then Sonya and her ripped out tooth (or whatever). Aw silly Sonya. Once again, everyone else's dreams are her reality.

I couldn't understand a thing Dorinda said at the bar with Bethenny. I hope she doesn't return. That e-mail was so fake.

When Beth and the waitress said they liked what Dorinda said about kissing feet and ass, I was like "The hell?", because it made no sense at all; Dorinda butchered that saying like she does with most everything she tries to explain/excuse. But, if Hillary and GaGa like her, then I'm guessing she's good to go for another season.

Is there really any question that Heather isn't returning? (She's apparently not a part of the 100th episode special next week, neither.)

Richard, Dorinda's second husband, was George Soros's former partner.  He was loaded.  Like really loaded, and his word on Wall Street literally changed the way people traded. I don't think Dorinda ever has to worry about money again.

Her first husband was in investment banking.

I don't think we ever saw Dorinda's real apartment as another poster indicated.  I am sure that was Hannah's place - which is pretty nice for a young woman who is probably unemployed.

How did she go from waitressing to this?  That's the reality I would like to know!

Really? Heather is not a part of the 100th episode special but Avivia is?!

Dorinda adds nothing to the show.  She just seems like a self centered drunk to me.

Dorinda may be the one with the most interesting story to tell. She attracts polar opposites-Hillary Clinton to Lady Gaga. Somehow I think it might be entertaining having Dorinda and the Countess swap tales. I really want the two of them to name drop but the names will not be of the Jay Z or Beyoncé era.   If not, throw it the Lost Footage episodes.  Granted nothing beats the wow factor of Kristen talking about her nail polish line and its genesis.

No one. Beth is just crude, nasty and disgusting. I know that I'm older than these women but what happened to dignity, respect for one's self and respect for others? This kind of talk from Beth, Dorinda, Heather et al is just over the top. Obviously I'm out of the loop but is this really the way people in their 20's, 30's and 40's talk to each other now? I have children in their 40's and they never talk like that around their elders. When I've asked them if they do that around their peers, they say "occasionally but not usually".  I don't want my grandchildren to grow up in a society where this is the norm for social discourse. Although my first grade grandson told me last week that his classmate said the "F" word in class. His teacher sent him to the principal (the head nun) who called his mother. Wonder where he heard that word? End of rant.

I liked this episode of Lost Footage more than any other LF episodes from any of the franchises any given year.

Ramona said the same thing to Mario about loving him more today than the day they married at her vow renewal also -- and look how that turned out. I'm probably going out on a limb saying this, but don't most married couple's love for one another grow deeper than the day they married?? Aside from being married to a lying, cheating lump or just growing apart -- call me crazy, but I can't imagine loving mrblossom the same or less than I did when we tied the knot almost 18 years ago. Sure, the sizzle becomes more of slow burn over time, but it's more sustainable that way, and there are still moments of sizzle just like there are seasons of weathering the storm. I mention it bc it struck me funny, it's almost as though Kristen an Ramona remark on this level of feeling for ther spouse to be unique in married relationships. <shrug>

ZM - do you know when Hillary C and Lady G came out with their like of Dorinda?  Was it before T and C?  I'm wondering if they feel the same way now that they did the first half of the season.   There's definitely been a change in her behavior.

Didn't HC know Dorinda because of her husband?

They couldn't have seen it at that point because the fuck you dinner episode was on the same night the reunion filmed. That was the day that Dorinda tweeted she wouldn't be live tweeting that episode because they were filming the reunion. I am not saying they might not still like her, but whatever opinion they had about her was the Dorinda we saw prior to the trip. Yes, Dorinda's husband worked for the Clintons. Dorinda said she was talking to a staffer and they mentioned Hilary liking Dorinda on the show. Might be more than true, but what else would someone say in that situation?

ETA: I wonder if Hilary would still "enjoy" Dorinda on the show if Dorinda's wish for a replacement for Heather were to be a reality? Dorinda said she thinks Monica Lewinsky would be great on the show.  WTF?

I would love to see Monica on the show. She has survived a horrible scandal, and is coming out on the other side after many years. She probably has some interesting things going on in her life and it would be nice to see the woman she has become, versus the young girl she was.

On one hand, it'd be interesting to catch up with her.  But I think Bravo would be relentless in trying to make Monica BlewClinsky happen again.  And I don't want to see that.  They'd probably force a scene in a cigar bar to remind us of...that.  And you just know they'd make her wear a blue dress to the reunion.

I don't know.  It might be best for her to remain happy and obscure.

There seems to be a lot of hooking up on this show...or wanting to or urging others too.  That's the last type of stuff Monica would need broadcast.

The original White Party was a circuit party for gay men that's been in existence since the 70s. The Diner en Blanc is a pop up banquet where everyone dresses up all in white and enjoy a sumptuous picnic in public. It's been in existence since the early 80s. I actually think Diddy (Sean Combs) was drawing from both events when he first started throwing his white parties in the late 90s. The White Party was a big deal in both NYC and Miami when Diddy's career was taking off. Diddy's party has callbacks to both: it has the fancy conspicuous exclusivity of the Diner en Blanc and the hedonism of The White Party. Everyone knew who did and did not get invited to Diddy's. It was covered by not only Hamptons and NY media, but national and international press. They knew who wore what and what happened at the party: diamond cufflinks, guests arriving via helicopter, Cristal fountains, and world renowned chefs making American comfort food. It's interesting because you can track the trajectory of the white party and it has moved to the mainstream the same way trends always move: from a minority group to a slightly bigger group to the mainstream.

Jezebel had a piece about this maybe a week ago.

Thanks for sharing this! I had no idea!

Hold up -- that wasn't Dorindas apartment? It would make sense because that place was tiny and big D is apparently loaded. But why hide her real apartment? Now I want to see the NYC real estate porn.

I refuse to believe HRC is a Dorinda fan. Gaga is nuts and probably enjoys that Dorinda is a "broad" plus she's probably drunk while watching so I forgive her. I've found Dorinda entertaining at times too. Just never when she's eating.

After.

I think what sets New York apart is the way these women relate.  Take for example the scene in the limo with Heather and Sonja-Heather, Sonja and Bethenny came off horribly-Dorinda not so much.  Heather and Bethenny came off poorly at Dorinda's Berkshire's dinner.  So all of this prior bad behavior by the time they get to Dorinda and the drunken F bomb discussion she is way behind the pack in looking bad.  So if you are a Heather fan, there will always be an excuse for Heather, if one knows Dorinda they will most likely see her in the best light.  As far as lady Gaga she seems to really like a lot f RH.  Also, Dorinda is pretty much a darling and big supporter of a AIDS charity that helps Broadway actors.   So there is the benevolent side of her that garners the rich and famous.

Just a side note on the "f-bomb' conversation - if one were just tuning it for that episode and didn't know much about what had transpired-these ladies Luann and Dorinda look like masters of the obvious talking about how the f bomb is not acceptable in polite conversation.  Any response other than, "no kidding" is simply not needed.  It was a dumb. dumb conversation started by Luann.  The rest of it is just patently ridiculous.  Dorinda really never got involved in heavy situations-she never brought a man home, she never shot back #insults, she was never shown being put to bed drunk, she didn't take her clothes off, she was basically just tipsy, at time nonsensical, had a nice home and graciously housed and fed the other ladies and their husbands and managed to have a homely boyfriend who the others openly insulted.   To me the thing she had working against her was being friends with Ramona.  She somehow managed to stay out of the way of Bethenny.  If she comes back next season I see them making mince meat out of her or her acting out.  I think she also says stuff that irritate all the ladies such as my daughter doesn't watch the show.  She will pay for that attitude.

Yes Richard was part of Bill Clinton's advisory board during his campaign.

Personally, I would never wear red to a wedding....or white or a bright color.  It's about respecting the bride who should be the person standing out that day.  I find it just weird that Lisa's daughter asked her mother to wear a tiara at her wedding (plus walking down the aisle not escorted by a groomsman) and Lauren Manzo asked her mother to wear white at hers.  I get a scent of mommy issues.

And the most weird of all - matching mommy and me wedding dresses:

Well, I've never....

OMG that is so hilariously demented.  Only Vickie.

ETA:  This is so messed up.  Granted, Vickie's dress is one, tiny shade of pink away from white, but the ruffles and the bare shoulders and the same hairdos?
