But I'm sure that in another episode she tells them how the first night with Charlie was weird and uncomfortable. At first, yes. She says, "I was kind of, well, appalled, I guess. But Charlie was very patient. It was really very nice, once I understood that that's what you were supposed to do, that it wasn't some colossal joke, you know?" During the orgasm discussion that follows she reiterates it was nice - "being near Charlie was nice" - but says, no, she didn't have an orgasm; "it was five years before I knew what made your eyes go back in your head." Which, of course, if we also believe the ridiculous later claim that they had sex every night and every morning, would mean she had unfulfilling sex for five years despite Charlie giving it the ol' college try over 3500 times. 2 Link to comment

Bastet June 17, 2021 Author Share June 17, 2021 (edited) 16 minutes ago, Snow Apple said: I may be remembering wrong but I thought Rose and Charlie was at somebody else's wedding which led to the passionate night? No, she says, "At my wedding in St. Olaf's Great Shepherd Church," and then babbles about the choir boys using balloons to make disgusting noises, so Rose and Charlie didn't put air in them. After Blanche tells her to get on with the story, she continues, "Well, after the wedding, Charlie and I had the most exciting, passionate night of our lives. After that, whenever we'd go to a wedding, we'd end up going home and putting on the cast album of Song of Norway, and going crazy on each other!" It's about how weddings make her hot, so she can't go to this one (Mangiacavallo, the guy Sophia put a curse on decades ago when he left her at the altar), because Miles is out of town and can't go with her. (She does go, and winds up saying things like, "Did anybody else notice the buns on the priest?") Edited June 17, 2021 by Bastet 1 Link to comment

SweetSin October 28, 2021 Share October 28, 2021 It seems that Dorothy has the worst continuity errors. Another one of Dorothy errors or never elaborated on is when Dorothy is trying to buy Frank Sinatra tickets. While on the phone she says that before the concert Stan asked for a divorce and how he got the tickets and she got the house. So why did Dorothy need to move in with Blanche? She has a house in her name, so what did she do with it? Did she give it to Michael or Kate to live in? Sell it? Foreclosed on? Sell it back to Stan which I doubt she did since she was still angry with him about the divorce. Sell it to keep Sophia in Shady Pines? Her prom story is back and forth. One moment Phil was her date to the prom, John Neretti stood her up for the prom, or she was in the attic slow dancing with a rake. Now maybe one of these was the junior prom so maybe one happened in the 11th grade and the other happened during her senior year in HS. How did they get back to Miami from Hollywood after being on Grab That Dough? Their purses was stolen and they said they won nothing on the show if we're to believe Sophia & Rose turned down the $100 each they won. The show didn't provide airline tickets. 1 1 Link to comment
MoistestCake November 2, 2021 Share November 2, 2021 The whole how Dorothy and especially Stan end up in Miami is not clear, so maybe the house was in NYC. At first Stan is in a hotel visiting from Hawaii and then stays in Miami? 1 Link to comment
BigBingerBro November 2, 2021 Share November 2, 2021 There is the one episode where they sell some land they bought while married and had planned to retire on. So I guess they at least both planned to wind up in Miami eventually. 2 Link to comment

How two broke teens with a baby on the way could afford to buy land anywhere is up for grabs. 1 4 Link to comment

I had the strong impression that Stan mooched off of Sal and Sophia for quite a few years, that one of the reasons Sophia disliked him so much was because he more or less picked their pockets in addition to cheating on their daughter eight ways from Sunday. In the flashback episode where Dorothy and Stan go to see his mother for a loan, it turns out that even she thought he was a yutz who only pretended to talk him up, so maybe he got the money for the land from his new in-laws? 3 Link to comment
scarynikki12 November 21, 2021 Share November 21, 2021 When did they change it so that Stan and Dorothy were both in high school when she got pregnant? If it was after this episode then I would say that would explain why they were able to buy some land on their honeymoon. Initially Stan was much older than Dorothy when she got pregnant so he could have had some money saved. Link to comment
schnauzergirl November 22, 2021 Share November 22, 2021 In the flashback where Dorothy tells Sophia she's pregnant and has accepted Stan's proposal, he doesn't look much older than a high school senior. This whole Dorothy/Stan thing strikes me as one of the major examples of how the writers didn't think about a real-life timeline and did whatever they had to do to move the plot line along. 1 Link to comment
BlancheDevoreaux November 22, 2021 Share November 22, 2021 The frustrating thing is, they easily could have written it so that Dorothy and Stan bought the land on a specific anniversary. They fell in love with the area on their honeymoon and promised each other that they would one day own property there. They scrimped and saved and finally, on their twentieth or whatever anniversary, they finally were able to buy some land. That would even make the property possibly more emotional because of the years put into it. 4 Link to comment
MoistestCake December 24, 2021 Share December 24, 2021 I'm sure this has been mentioned 100s of times, but in the episode where uncle Angelo first turns up, Dorothy says Michael is a successful musician playing with the Boston Philharmonic. A few episodes later when we meet Lorraine, Michael is playing in a band where he met Lorraine.... I guess he could have changed jobs... 1 Link to comment

DXD526 February 14, 2023 Share February 14, 2023 This isn't a continuity error, so much as something that doesn't make much sense. In 'The Monkey Show', Dr. Halperin is called to the house to deal with the Gloria-sleeping-with-Stan situation, and brings neighbor Carol Weston, with whom he was on a date. Why were they on a date when there was a hurricane hitting the city? Homes were being evacuated, the TV studio was being used as a shelter, and Carol and the doc thought that would be a good time to go out and paint the town? Despite that, it's a great episode. The doc's, "Hey, you're off the monkey, mazel tov!", will never not crack me up! 4 Link to comment
SweetSin February 16, 2023 Share February 16, 2023 I don't like that episode cause of Sophia's behavior. She was downright horrible to Dorothy which I don't understand why Dorothy didn't let Sophia go run off to live w/Gloria. Sophia keeps saying Gloria is her favorite one. She doesn't mind Stan (who she strongly dislikes apparently) sleeping w/Gloria and hooked them up in that episode. Also snickered with Gloria with teasing Dorothy about Dorothy's ears when she gets mad and being a substitute teacher. When Dorothy was rubbing it in how Gloria has no money Sophia doesn't like Dorothy teasing Gloria but doesn't mind Gloria doing it to Dorothy. Ugh. 2 Link to comment

mmecorday September 22, 2023 Share September 22, 2023 In the episode "End of the Curse," Dorothy and Rose have an extended back-and-forth about Spanish Fly. Rose says that she's been to Spain and Valencia alone has hundreds of flies. And here I was thinking that the most exotic place Rose ever visited was Tyler's Landing. 2 Link to comment
