I think it has more to do with the actress then the producers. Katie willingly lightened her hair throughout the show, Juliana probably is doing the same.

Well, if that's the case, then it's on the producers to step in and tell the actress to keep the dark hair as a differentiator, but that's obviously not happening. Another epic fail by the Arrow production team.

Is she going blonde or is it just the sun hitting her highlights (which she's had from the start)?

Yeah, I don't think her hair looks blond at all in that insta. I noticed in the 5x14 stills that her hair seemed lighter at the ends, so maybe that and the lighting is making it seems like she is more blonde in that photo?

It just looks like brown hair w/ highlights to me as well.

Maybe it's just the lighting in the picture, but it seems to me as if the blonde highlights are becoming more and more pronounced - similar to KC's gradual change in hair color from season 2 to season 3. I don't have anything against blonde highlights as long as it stops there, but right now I am expecting to see her sporting a full head of blonde hair when she puts on the costume come season finale time. If that happens, I think I am going to throw up in disgust - and then I am going to laugh at the stupidity of this show. LOL.

Considering that the 2 previous Black Canaries on the show were blonde already, one would think it would give the producers extra incentive to go a different route with BC version 3.0

Dinah is literally a copy-paste of LL and SL combo as BC. Theres nothing original to her apart from her actual profession.

Which is really only a part of McKenna Hall mixed in, they essentially just rolled up all of OQ's failed LIs (minus FS) into one meta female.

Team Arrow,

Words cannot express how thrilled I was to continue Cupid's wild ride! Thank you for the opportunity to bring this adventurous, fearless, wonderfully off kilter lady to life! I savor every second!

Guggie's response makes no sense. The point was that he suddenly started talking up Olicity a few days after a .5, not that the SHOW was suddenly going to pivot to Olicity. Either he's even dumber than I thought (possible) or he's intentionally misleading.

So we have a budding relationship between BamBam and JH, why do I think this might be a problem if BamBam has increased influence on the show.

Also in reference to MG's tweets above. Agree with @AyChihuahua. But why does it not surprise me that MG doesn't get it? Majority of Arrow's problems is because MG doesn't get it.

Yeah, the explanation made me shake my head. Of course, they can and do react to ratings, maybe not right away, but certainly "course correct" later. Plus, the original poster was talking about the sudden mentions of Olicity, not the story line itself.

He's been either silent or really snotty re O/F and its fans: "Are Olicity fans going to blame the [first of many] .6 for 505 on bad Olicity instead of the game?" Then they hit a new series low and suddenly he's talking up Olicity, and he thinks people aren't going to see an ulterior motive there?

I think he really thinks the Arrow audience is stupid. That would explain a lot of very odd/half-assed storytelling choices.

Guggie got triggered. He is also of course missing the point. Not surprised at all.

I thought maybe MG accidentally gave something away wrt where the storyline is going, not that he was being misleading. I assumed he answered that question for a reason - and that's because Olicity talk is no longer verboten since they're making a shift back in that direction (along with SA suddenly saying that of course Olicity could be a couple again a couple of weeks ago) - I don't follow him or his @s, but I'm guessing he gets asked Olicity stuff a lot but ignores it? Has he teased Olicity during previous drops this season (honestly don't remember)?

I kinda see that too. That in later episodes this season they might be heading towards more pro olicity episodes and that's his "heads up" that it has nothing to do with ratings . Of course the negativity regarding no olicity and lack of focus on core cast has been going on since the season premiere so once again any direction they  might be taking towards end of season is  not necessarily their plans from the start but could potentially be them reacting to fans on their mentions(or even the 0.6 since they came back from Christmas).

MG has been very silent lately,so his olicity reply was indeed a surprise(or not at all anyway).

When we don't get spoilers people complain, when we get spoilers people insinuate that it's damage control...guess it's hard to please everyone.

Yes they're talking about olicity now because they're clearly writing the shift towards it now. I think only a few folks actually believed this show was done with Olicity and the majority always knew that they would circle back to them towards the end of the season.

Th JH/Bam "friendship" is the fakest thing i've seen on this cast and i've seen a lot of fake things the past 5 years.

Seems like this is the first time. But then this is the first time they also hit 0.5. But I think they were always headed this way anyway in the back half of S5 and that yeah, they can talk about Olicity again because that's where the story lines are headed. One thing about the people on this show is that they will always try to sell what viewers are just about to see. So Stephen and Marc talking about Olicity again makes me think something positive is coming for Olicity.

I mean, they mentioned that they were writing away from the Oliver/Felicity romance early in the year, and never eased up on that stance throughout the ratings dips earlier in the year. The way they talked about and promoted the show never changed. They followed that up with talking up the Susan/Oliver romance and real feels. Now that that storyline is here, it seems like they're setting up what's coming up next, which...to me, given SA's change of talking points and MG engaging positively with shippers again, might indicate a reconciliation in the final stretch of the season.

Arrow’s Juliana Harkavy, who plays Dinah Drake (aka. the next Canary) on season five of the CW superhero drama, has signed with Wallman PR. Wallman PR also has signed sales and distribution company Imagination Worldwide, which has acquired Amber Tamblyn’s directorial debut, Paint It Black.

Kamily? lol

Also - it must be said that SA gave that interview LONG before they hit 0.5 so clearly it's them writing back to Olicity. And we all know Stephen always toes the company line.

I don't really understand how tweets by MG, or for that matter, workout videos posted by T3, which are only seen and appreciated by a fraction of the Internet audience is supposed to help boost ratings. That's what's implied by "damage control", right?

You'd think a serious damage control would actually come from the network and not the cast trainer or Marc giving a billy joel song reference for Olicity..lol

I love how Kamily literally became non-existent once KC left the show...I was even shocked Kamily didn't post any pics when Katie came back this year. lol

I really don't get their way of interacting with fans. I understand promoting what's on screen at the moment but unless you never intend to bring a couple back together or do something then don't make it seem like it's an argument that shouldn't even be voiced out loud. This way they convinced a good part of people that hate O/F that they were never going there again and if/when they start changing direction they are getting hate from them and I'd say even more than before because they will feel played and this time they won't get that much support from that portion of fans that felt dismissed this year. It doesn't change in terms of ratings but way to make your SM experience as bad as it can be.

To be fair, the CW is cheap lmao

but does it really require a lot. How hard is it for your main account to interact with fans and provide content they need. Fans do better photoshop than the CW PR, so really all they have to do is share fan content if they're that cheap. I've never seen a more incompetent network.

I feel like the damage control  term is often used by Internet fandoms to imply that show's people are trying to please a part of Internet fans who are being loud over their dissatisfaction with stuff. In other shows, writers wouldn't care much but in cw shows they care and listen too much to Internet fans. It's also that cw cares a lot about Internet buzz, even more than ratings regarding some stuff. Let's not forget that these type of shows become well known internationally (and popular on streaming sites) exactly because the Internet fandoms are pretty active, loud and passionate and the shows' people are interacting much with them.

Supernatural is a good  example.

I also think whatever their plans with olicity are, they downplayed their importance after season 4 and during 5a both in actual show and interviews, media, cons etc that can be easily perceived as them trying to satisfy somehow a loud part of the Internet that hated last season because of them. This loud part considered that damage control.
