Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

Does Jill collect (and must report) sales tax?

Not sure about Etsy or Plexus, but some places report the earnings directly to the IRS and at some places the seller has to keep a list of sales and report income and taxes.  But somehow that information has to get to the IRS.  It would be interesting to know how these companies handle IRS info.

Jill posted  a video of Gideon “learning to walk” …. Janessa keeps pulling um him up aggressively and dragging him around. It’s not cute jill, your kid is a brat and Gideon could have been seriously hurt the way she is handling him.

Jill said that Gideon was 2 months premature.  I thought he was 1 month premature.  Am I wrong or is Jill a liar?

A few things about that video, he was wearing regular socks and going from a hard surface to Jill’s randomly placed throw rugs. Janessa is going to dislocate his shoulder. She should not be guiding him and picking him up when he falls. He’s going to have a bruised wrist from the way she was holding onto it. Above all the other sounds, you could hear Jill laughing each time he stumbled or fell.

Positive: he was wearing his glasses.

Ever so stylish, the blouse comes with the dress. I guess they match somehow ? 😂

This is something my grandma would wear in her garden.  Many German grandmothers wore these garments called  Kittelschürze  and my Oma liked hers blue or with blue patterns.

I think he was 8 weeks earlier than the due date Jill had posted.

That's what I remember.  He was definitely more than a month early.

It wouldn’t make it much better, but she should put these up as separate pieces, and not “model” them, imo. Every post seems to say something shown isn’t included, this would fix that.

Or, she could stop with the stupid performative modesty and just show the outfits themselves without the leggings, t-shirts, etc.  She advertises that these outfits are modest, either they are or they aren't.  If the girls aren't allowed to wear them without layers underneath, then they are not modest.

And I bet Jill was laughing her ass off.  She's cruel that way.  😡

Kaylee should have told Janessa to behave and take Gideon away. That Kaylee allowed her baby to be mistreated is a no good.

I can't wait until janessa drags old Jill around in an old office chair. I'm sure Janessa will be laughing just like Jill. Janessa is going to be such an unpleasant person.

One of the main reasons Kaylee is referred to as (and Kaylee) is because they also picked on her mercilessly and she was often the afterthought.  While I agree, Kaylee should step in and do something,  she probably sees nothing wrong with it, because of the way they treated (may still treat her.)

Poor Janessa is going to be an epic brat because all she knows is what she's taught by her horrible parents.

Mahmo found it cute and funny.  No way Kaylee was going to step in and protect her child.  Mahmo wants funny, Mahmo gets funny.  Plus the implication that Jill's favorite might not be behaving perfectly was not something Kaylee would be willing to deal with when Jill got mad at said implication.

I really think that Kaylee doesn't stop the misuse of her baby  because that is the Rod way of life, and she thinks this behavior is normal.  My family (aunts and uncles) used to tie a kitchen towel around the baby to use as a brace of sorts when the baby was learning to walk.  That way the baby could use their arms for balance, and they didn't have to pull on the baby's arms.  I don't think got the towel because I think I was already walking when my mom and I moved in with the relatives (Dad was deployed to the Pacific), but it sounds like a safe way to help with balance.  I get families have different traditions, but rough treatment of a baby should not be one of them.

Why not just put a sweater or blazer over the immodest dresses instead of sticking ugly blouses underneath them? I remember when the sister wives used to wear summer tops with ugly long sleeves underneath them. That way if you choose not to be modest, you can wear the dress anyway you’d like. Plus, it would look the way it’s supposed to look. And the leggings are out of control. some of these dresses go to the knee, but they still have to put leggings on.

I usually laugh about the modest dressing. When I was working at one point I heard the office rumor was that I was a Mormon due the coverage I had in regular clothes and I never drank coffee or had alcohol at lunch.  (I'm allergic to coffee and I'd nap most of the afternoon if I drank alcohol.) It's absolutely relatively easy to dress modestly without being performative.  I also never wore anything as tight as many of Jill's outfits and never did the posing that she does.

and it’s funny when the tank top underneath shows maybe 2 inches at the most. It’s seriously too low cut except for those couple of inches?

Yes, I saw some of the leggings with pink on the side with the totally off color outfit. And the leggings are often to the ankles. Are they not even wearing knee length clothes anymore, because I think they used to. The Duggers wore the long stuff in addition to knee length skirts and dresses.

Off-topic, but Hannie was painting Jana’s place way up with her leg on the wall and the other one on a ledge. She had on what looked like short tight bicycle shorts. Good thing pops wasn’t there.

Its all so ridiculous. The majority of folks out and about are dressed modestly (including pants). And in the workplace even more so. No need for all this extra modesty bullshit. Its all so performative.

Because if they didn't do the extra modesty, they would just look like everyone else.   Can't have that.  Then no one would know how extra special they are and how dog loves them more than everyone else.

It;s all performative with them.

They don't care anymore.   No tv money coming in from "doing things a little different" so there's no point.   See above about performative.

Timothy and Heidi at the Coverett’s church event. Heidi is  holding the pastor’s dog.

Timothy looks less tense and not so Rod-like.  Heidi is cute.  She is so young!  I hope they find happiness and don't rush the babies.  Stick with cuddling dogs for awhile.

Because he finally became a man!

Does anyone remember when girls would wonder if they looked different after having sex? I used to wonder that when I was a teenager and knew someone that had maybe done it. In this case you can tell on Tim! Although with the coffee, he’s got crazy eyes again.

Which girl is in the pumpkin "blouse"?  There are two (the other is the younger cutie who always squints) that I can never remember their names.  The daughter in the pic has grown to look remarkably like Nurie but much prettier.  Nurie is always so pointed and harsh looking to me.  This poor thing has such a nice smile, despite what her Mother has done to her eyebrows.

Did everyone see that Jill is putting "made by" Ivory Cream Boutique?  Is this how she's skirting Etsy's rules?  So she's a dress designer for Temu and Target now?

Everyone has used the words "performative modesty" and I absolutely love that.  It's been said a million times but modest style is actually really popular right now without most of it even being labelled as modest.  They could all wear maxi skirts/dresses, puffed and ruffled sleeves....heck, even sailor and peter pan collars have suddenly made a comeback!!  But if they did that and didn't instead layer a long sleeve blouse under a strapless gown, how would they ever be identified as the supremely Godly beings that they are??!!
