Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

Why does Jill have to open her damn mouth every waking moment?  I feel bad for the other people around her.  And, that McDonald's has to be the only one left with a play area.  Ick indeed.

Nurie almost went super sonic with her answer.

how old is Janessa, and why are we pretending that she is a toddler?

So all you have to do is court, and you get out of all family stuff. I haven’t seen Samuel in the background of any of these things since their announcement. I remember Michelle being like that. Once a girl was courting, all obligations went out the window. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, it’s to hang out with your partner and make googly eyes at each other. You can’t do anything else, not even touch their pinky finger.

Yep Jill and Jessa got out of all their chores, child raising and everything else. Which on one hand that's great it never should have been their jobs in the first place but it meant more work for Jana to do. It's not like Michelle was going to pitch in. I felt sorry for Jana.

Jill thought she was going to be the  GAHDLY Stich Fix.

IRT to the modesty undershirts: I don't get it. I also don't really love showing my upper arms so I usually layer something OVER a sleeveless top or dress. Like a cardi, a button down shirt, or light jacket. You know, like a normal person. Why cant Jill do that?

This is Jill. I think by calling attention to how bad it looks, she feels like she is proving how godly they all are.

His poetry is not bad.   Not great, and more than a little dark, but you can see a glimmer of talent there.   What he is is uneducated.   Fix that and he has a real shot at being a poet and/or filmmaker.

It is sad that there could have been something more there and it was wasted. But he is young and there is still time.

The key words in your post are 'normal person'.  That's why Jill doesn't do it.  Also, if she chose to dress modestly in the way that most women do, it would not call enough attention to herself and she would not be able to widely proclaim her godliness.  Now, people see the weird mismatched tee shirt under her dress and they wonder what the h-e- double hockeysticks is going on there and that is what she wants.

He has no experience in film making. I wonder what's pulling him in that direction?

Supposedly, Phillip grew up without TV, the internet or movies; it's hard to figure out how he would've come to appreciate film making. I suppose he's seen some of Kirk Cameron's masterful Christian films and figures its the sort of thing anyone can do.  And, based on what I've seen of Cameron's films, I suppose anyone can.

I'd like to see Phillip get into a field where he can be sure to earn a decent living which is neither poetry nor film making, IMO.

You are a normal person who chooses outfits you like with a neckline you can live with. Then you just need to cover your arms.  Jill chooses outfits that she knows she has to cover the neckline by putting something underneath it.  She’s calling attention to herself.

If she really cared just about modesty, there are wonderful modest clothes that she could select.

Supposedly indeed. They probably watched the map or whatever the map was pre-map

Maybe he can work in the film industry, just not his own ideas.  Maybe he can work to become a cameraman or some other job behind the scenes where he just has someone to give him directions.  He could be the lighting guy on the porn films.  Seriously, there must be some jobs that he can do well with supervision.  I sure wish him well (in several definitions of the word.)

Yes, Janessa is the baby in a large family.  My mother was the youngest of 10 and was very spoiled.  That attitude lasted her whole life.  But, I still think Janessa has delays that Jill is ignoring.  Before Janessa was born Jill claimed that Janessa had had a stroke in utero, and was born missing part of her corpus callosum (an important feature in the brain).  She did mention doctors, so I really think this was not totally made up.  After Janessa was born, Jill claimed that Janessa was miraculously healed through prayer.  I really think Janessa has some delays that Jill is refusing to acknowledge.  Treating her like a baby doesn't help, but I do think there is something else going on besides being spoiled.

Dealing with those delays would have meant doctors and social services.  Jill is never letting anyone who is a mandatory reporter near her kids unless she absolutely has to.  If she never did follow ups, no one would notice so she knew if she didn't push for it, there would be no consequences.

Also, those treatments cost money and Jill is not going to spend money on her kids that could be spent on more clothes for her and home decor.

I totally agree.  Although, I am surprised she didn't use this as another grift.  But you are right, she wants to keep any mandatory reporter far, far away.  Janessa can walk, talk, hear and see, (as far as we know) so I guess that is good enough.  It makes me so sad to think about all the wasted potential in these kids.

How old is Janessa? She rarely talks on camera, just drags that rag around and smiles at mama. And Sophia seems to be even worse. The way she talks, how incredibly tiny she is. Her teeth don’t seem to be coming in properly. How old are the younger girls? And Olivia is the one that does nothing but squint. Sadie seems OK except for her tiny size. She’s always very thin, and seems to have dark circles under her eyes.

Do these kids ever go to bed? I hope they have pajamas, unlike the Dugger World girls who were too scared to put on anything sleazy, like a grandma nightgown.I have a major thing about comfort at night. My kids always had very clean, stylish bedding, and very cute and comfy PJs. And a normal bedtime! Even when my kids got older and had dorm rooms, etc. I would still buy them bedding.

See but in this world, you get away with everything. All they have to do is find a man, and do menial chores around the house while they produce children. There is no expectation of them whatsoever except landing a guy and letting him rule your world. The boys just seem to have to find a landscaping job, or something comparable. Take a wife, have as many children as you can, and live near the poverty line. God, what a depressing world.

I'm leaning toward Janessa being misdiagnosed in utero or Jill lying. She was born in a hospital so surely they would have done follow up tests when she was born with having such a serious diagnosis.

Also I don't think Janessa would be walking and talking in such a neglectful environment if the in utero diagnosis was correct.

My guess is Jill 'stole' this story from some (unfortunate) "sweet friend" and used it to make herself a hero of an anti-choice statement.

I’ve always thought Jill was lying about Janessa, just like she lied about losing 60% of her blood during her SEVERE miscarriages.

So do I. She said it for attention, probably money and stuff, and so when Janessa was born she could claim that God miraculous healed her. She's full of crap. It doesn't work that way.

I don't think she has any issues other than the ones all the rod kids have. Lack of education, age appropriate activities, friends etc.

Janessa does plenty on camera and seems well aware, at age 6, of how to play mama's game. She also seems to never be reprimanded by Jill. One video had Jill repeatedly telling her to get off the counter and she did not budge.  (she was on the counter when Jill started filming so🤷‍♀️)

On stage at the grift stops she is almost always picking at whichever sister is next to her, usually Sofia.

"playing with mama's phone" Janessa took video as she walked around and showed each person praying for Phillip. Behind Renee and Tessie she stuck out her tongue at them and behind mama and gabriel she has a big smile.

Phil figures he can be a film maker after watching mahmo film everything and put together you tube videos. In reality it's hard to be a film maker unless you are a nepo baby.

Phil is lost because he hasn't experienced real life yet. Everything is suppressed and limited by his parents.

David and Jill went on a “little” getaway for their anniversary. They went to a pet store where David reminded her he didn’t want to get another dog “until Snuggles dies”. She repeated this a few times during her video. So, what do you suppose the outcome of this was? Cinnamon is now their dog of course. Some of the girls were playing with her in the house on a leash and it didn’t look appropriate to me.

Jill is still furious at Tim, Heidi, and Phillip for slipping out from under her control. What's worse is that it all played out in public. Her most important possessions, her children, have betrayed her, crushed her, by choosing to live their own lives.

She thinks a new puppy will fix everything. Not a chance. It won't be long before Jill is off trying to soothe herself by buying more clothes, taking more vacations, and posting more rants. That poor little dog is just another victim in the dysfunctional mess that is the family Rodrigues.

Poor Snuggles.  That’s just wrong, IMO.  Bitch should’ve waited until Snuggles was gone.
