Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

And Mimi will have to explain the name to everyone how neat the name is heaven spelled backwards like Nathan and Nurie were the first to think of that.😂

I have yet to understand why Neaveh is such a special name.  Yes, it’s heaven spelled backward.  So what?

It's definitely on my should never be used list.  It seems childish to me.  Would we spell Alice backwards and think it meaningful?

I'd love to see what she disguised with that cowboy hat sticker. I assume she couldn't filter herself to look as slim and trim as she wanted, so slapped a cowboy hat there and called it good.  [Edited to add: I just changed my username. I'm the member fka Jeeves.]

I'm thinking she really enjoyed the party life in "Sin City".  I wonder how wild she would have gone if she was  attending alone.

Jill's fake-braid headband and the extensions looked a little rough on this trip. Maybe they were melting in the heat. It might be time for Jill to dip into her Plexus piggy bank and upgrade her hair. It's only June, and she still has six more months of once-a-year vacations ahead.

She looked like an aging/deeply discounted escort. The hair is truly awful and her clothes are not any better.

Heart pain again. It's either hurting or overflowing every other day. Maybe she should see a doctor. Thankfully Plexus cures everything. 🙄

She’s been gone an entire 4 days.  Can you imagine how much her heart would hurt if one of her offspring joined the military and was deployed for months on end? Or actually went overseas on a religious mission? She can’t go a few weeks without Nurie now.

When David and Nurie went to Africa for 2 weeks on a mission trip, Jill compared herself to a military spouse saying now she understood what they went through. Her husband was gone once, for 2weeks. Sure Jill, you definitely understand what military spouses go through. /sarcasm

Regarding Jill's flight. It was about an hour late and arrived in Cleveland after 11pm. Yet David schlepped all the girls up there knowing it would be a late night.

I hope the littles got some sleep on the ride back to Wooster.

Of course, David had to drag all the little girls to the airport. Mahmo requires a cheering section to greet her rapturously as she steps off the plane.

so dave brought all the females who live at home but not Gabriel. I wonder if Gabriel was allowed to get an "EXCEPTIONAL" job this summer to earn money in preparation for the burden of a wife, or more likely, the burden of contributing to the "make mama happy fund" with the other guys.

I went out to eat with friends Saturday night.  We live in a rural area, and went to one of the local restaurants. Our server was a very nice young man who was so excited to tell us that he had just graduated from high school.  His joy and elation just radiated from him.  He told us he was going to the local community college for two years, and then transfer to a 4 year school.  He said he is going to study biostatistics.  He was so excited.  He is working an actual job to earn money for school.  My thoughts went to the Rod kids who will never experience the sheer joy of accomplishment and excitement for the next step in their lives.  No planning for their future, no exciting career. No "next step".  Just doing what Mama tells them to do.

And you probably left him a nice tip. Imagine him serving the Rods and getting a Bible tract?

If the Rods heard the story about how excited the server was about the next stage of his life, not only would they leave a bible tract but right there in the restaurant Jill would start praying loudly to keep him from his "sinful" past.  Then go home, wake any kids not already up and force a rant on them about the sinfulness of the outside world and wanting to go to an actual college instead of bible college.

I'm reading a book written by a former high-ranking MLM consultant that is a behind the scenes look at that world. Jill's enthusiastic posts about her stupid Plexus convention in Las Vegas are all the more interesting, the more I read. The book is "Hey, Hun" by Emily Lynn Paulson.

It's not that I'm learning anything big about MLMs that I hadn't heard before, but this is a narrative of a woman who was recruited into an MLM and, unlike most recruits, built a big team and did well financially. At least for awhile. I'm early in the book and the insider perspective is keeping my interest. I checked the e-book out from our public library. Not sure I'd have bought it but I'm glad to be reading it.

Ellen and her children went to the beach. They were all dressed appropriately. I’m just posting one of the pictures.

What??? No performative mahdesty??

I wonder how Tim is processing things like this - his soon to be in-laws are dressing in ways that his Mahmo has spent countless hours and SM bandwidth hollering against. He has to have been super indoctrinated by Mahmo about mahdest dress requiring layers and layers, preferably including denim for swimming, and doncha know there's hellfire and brimstone in all that messaging.

Even if Tim wasn't with them at the beach when those photos were taken, he would have seen them. And he's probably spent enough time with the family to observe how they dress in their daily life. Which AFAIK doesn't involve Jill's crazy layers and skintight long skirts.

If his head hasn't exploded, I think it's probably been rattled. He's seeing how his fundie soon to be in-laws (and wife) dress, and his head is stuffed full of years' worth of his parents' indoctrination about what women should wear to be dogly. And Heidi and her family don't really dress that way.

It's funny though, as according to this FB post, Tim and Heidi have made a 'joint decision ' for her to dress modestly after marriage. So, is she enjoying her last single days of wearing normal beach clothes, before she wears modest swimwear/full length Denim, Rodrigues-style? I really hope Heidi continues to wear whatever she wants after marriage.

I’d love to see a full photo of Heidi at the beach ( that was just a snippet in the photo above?).  I’d like to see her entire outfit

The quote from Tim above implies  she will wear skirts and dresses - unless that would  be immodest.  Say outside in 70 mile an hour winds. Or maybe when swim attire would be more modest than a wet t-shirt.

That fake braid looks ridiculous.  I’ve also noticed that Kaylee has pretty much ruined her eyebrows and is wearing as much eye makeup as Jill.
