Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

Is Tessie barefoot, and the younger girl wearing sneakers?

When the Rodrigues girls, especially the younger ones, are wearing shoes, one can assume the shoes are too small, too big, or completely wrong for the season or activity. The boys fare a little better. For some reason, proper footwear for female children is not important in this family. It's probably more comfortable to go barefoot.

How can you save anyone at church? They were already in church…

Jill attached a selfie but I don’t want to post it.

I’d bet good money (if this even happened) Paige and Zoey are young children. I was not fundy but in an AOG church, and I remember altar calls being very pushy and full of fear. And little kids don’t want to go to hell while mommy and daddy go to heaven, so they “get saved” and say the magic words.

so weird. Jill obviously wrote them both.

Girlies? These two are both over 20, right? I would be so embarrassed if my mom left notes like that in public.

How desperate is Jill for money, first Tim selling his lawn business and now Renee and (and Kaylee) are selling their stuff for big discounts. Plus, how are they going to fulfill orders if they are on the road for who knows how long. Guess wedding/anniversary party grifting isn't going as planned.

In these churches, you are not saved until you walk down the aisle to the altar rail during the service,  crying and answer  affirmatively to the call to be saved.

the fact that you’ve attended church there regularly doesn’t count

But if they were there and decided today was the day, I'm figuring the church itself had more to do with it than Jilly and her cohort of screeching children.    But you know Jilly, taking credit for the work of others is what she does best.

They probably were not at church. Notice that she says "on visitation ". For a fundy church, that would be the time the members go door to door witnessing,  or visit specific people that have been on the church's radar for one reason or another.   I don't think it happened during a church service, but I could be wrong.

Jill’s most recent post:

Update on my Mom!  😊

My Aunt Vallory Smith has been holding down the fort for us with my Mom at the hospital, as this week was busy for the four of us girls.  My Daddy had to go home because he had so much to get caught up on.  He also had a doctor appointment of his own.  😔 Please pray for his health.

Aunt Val (who is my Dad's youngest sister) has done a GREAT job caring for her. 😊 She laughed at my Mom who actually tried to start wiggling her legs and telling my Aunt Val she was tired of laying in bed and she wanted to get up!  She is SUCH a hard worker!  However, my mom is hooked to SO many wires and tubes, there was no way she could get up.  The nurse rearranged my Mom's position and that comforted her.  😊😉

The swelling is coming down quite a bit in my Mom's face as the infection slowly heals.(Picture below was covered to save her dignity).  We all love her so much!  ❤️

The necklace and earrings pictured below, my Daddy bought for Ma and gave them to her at the hospital.  He sent us these words (via text) about Ma......  "I'm so proud of the person she is. It's been a privilege to have her as my wife.  She has given me such a glorious heritage and so much joy 😊 in the process."  -Daddy

I know we all have trials, but if I told you all the trials my parents have gone through in the last few years, it would make you want to cry.  Please consider lightening their load during this difficult time by giving to this fund we set up for them to help bring a small solace during a hard time!  😥  Thank You!

"Picture below was covered to preserve her dignity." Not that her mom's (or SEVERELY DISABLED sister's, or kids') dignity ever mattered to Jill in the weeks/months/years prior to this. . .

Jill's comment isn't very positive. Wouldn't something like "What a great deal for these beautiful earrings" or "Your customers are so lucky" be better than "Hope you get some orders"? Is the earring business in trouble?

There's seems to be a lot of cashing out--or trying to--with the Rods: Timmy's Christ Honoring Heavenly Lawn Care equipment, Nurthan's rather recent house and furniture, and now (maybe) the Not-Nuries' sole means of income. What's next? Phillip's commuting-to-college car?

when Jill's stuffed animal collection goes up for sale it will be a sure sign of the end times for the Rod grifting.

Rod sales I'd like to see:

David's printing equipment. He'll be overjoyed when he finally notices that it's gone.

The touring stink van--grift on wheels. This depends on Nurthan's moving to Ohio since there will be no more excuses to drive to Florida so Jill can have her much-needed vacations.

Jill's Plexus empire. Pennies on the dollar.

Jill's phone, but not likely. Only God will be able to pry it out of her cold, dead hands.

I don’t think I even lasted 2 minutes watching that video.

They we’re there last year around this time, also:

I just watched a few minutes of the Rods performance video.  Want to know how thin and tiny Sadie, Sofia and Janessa are?  All three of them were sitting in one camp chair (the chairs that you can fold up and put into a bag).  The performance was 👎🏻, as usual.  I only watched for a few minutes but Jill played the accordion, an electric piano and bells on an ironing board, and they all sounded awful.  I would love to know WTH is going on with Renee’s violin.  It is always, ALWAYS, out of tune.  Do any of you know anything about violins?  What would cause one to always be out of tune?

Lapsed violinist here. A tin ear would certainly cause that. A poorly maintained instrument could also do it, as could weird or rapidly changing weather. Most likely with this clan it’s the tin ear, poor teaching, and minimal practice. Violin is a very unforgiving instrument and requires a LOT of practicing and listening. How the heck could Renee ever hear herself (and this make corrections and improve her intonation) with BME screeching over her all the time?

I broke down and watched about 30 seconds to a minute of both performances. Jill's cowbells drowned out everything else at the camp revival. She was less intrusive at the church on the accordion (is that new? Can't say I remember her on that instrument before). Renee's violin was sooo screechy. Yet people in the comments loved them, even asking if they could perform at their church.

A lid for every pot, I guess.

eta New videos up of the teens playing tug o war in a church hallway. Jill says she's investing time in her kids' lives. By filming them? Whatever. 🙄

Whenever someone is playing the piano it sounds terribly out of tune.  It doesn't surprise me with the way they bang on it.  Also, judging the way they sing they probably think it's the perfect accompaniment.

Oh what fun being barefoot on a dirty floor pulling the rope 🙄. Especially the girls with their long hair (not in a ponytail). It looked like a miserable time.

Hope the place was air conditioned.

I feel truly sorry for this bunch of kids.

Mama Jill and Papa Dave are always going to win these little strength contests with the kids because they get regular meals while the kids are on involuntary fasts.

Ah, a tie dye dress in the second photo. Maybe Hunk's sexy leggings made it on the trip too.

Maybe the Rods stopped off at a "laundry mat" (sic) before church.  Jill seems to do her best recruiting there.

Also a cheap beginner's instrument.  There are instruments out there being sold to school kids that just cannot be tuned.

We took our kid to the Great Wolf Lodge in Minnesota last week. We went swimming every day, had a great day at the Mall of America, went to the zoo, ate all kinds of yummy foods and we all had a great time. In January we're going to WDW, where we'll be staying at the resort she picked out. What these poor kids do all day doesn't look fun, or like quality time, with mom and dad at all.

Did anyone watch the Palomer church video? The sound wasn't good but I think Jill thanked people for donating for her parents and for "showering her with gifts" or something like that.

I’m only able to stomach a few minutes of it at a time.  I just watched Jill talking and singing “The Lord’s Prayer”.  She told the audience what was going on with her Pa’s health, but the sound system was so awful that I couldn’t understand what she said.  I LOL when Janessa put her hands over her ears while Jill was singing.

Why is she talking about her dad’s health with complete strangers? How about praying for the sick in THIS congregation?

The children that Jill wrestled clearly were letting her win, probably in fear that if they dare defeat her they would be punished. Sad lives these poor kids have.

I just watched the video of the kids and Jill (of course) square-dancing.  I didn’t realize that Janessa is nearly as big as Sofia, even though there’s a 3 or 4 year age difference.  They need to take that child (Sofia) to the doctor.  That cannot be normal.

In Sofia's recent birthday post, Jill called her "tiny but mighty." She's well aware that the poor thing is not right
