Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

all this worrying, poor Jill all it does it made half her eyebrow fall out, and her goiter grow at alarming speed. only more free $ and plexus will help her.

They lack of outer eyebrows can be a symptom of hypothyroidism. That plus Leon makes me think she needs more than Plexus to fix what ails her.

Yeah, she needs an actual doctor, medical science, and probably medication. None of which Plexus is, so Jill will continue to go downhill. If she wasn't so awful to her kids, I might feel sorry for her. But, oh well. Goiter on, Leon!

Words by Kaylee:

This past Sunday was a truly special day. ❤️📖🙏
We dedicated our sweet, little Gideon to the Lord.
Our prayer and hope is that in our home, Gideon will always have the example of us, his parents, keeping Christ at the center of all we do.

Sadly, numerous young families today strive to be trendy, fit in, and chase after popularity.
This kind of lifestyle deeply grieves Jonathan's and my heart, to the core of our soul. 😥
Why would we want to conform to a lifestyle that merely reflects how the world lives?
Why would we want popularity or fame over being a peculiar people and standing up for the things of truth and right?
Why would we want the world to be proud of us or give us their applause? Why not seek after making the Lord proud of us? For He is the one who died on a tree to give us eternal life, in heaven and saved us from an eternity in HELL!!!!

We pray that in our home, we may always strive to please the Lord.
That Gideon will see our home as one that desires to seek and please God, not the world.

We love you Gideon. With all our heart and soul, we give you to the Lord. 💕

Isn't he about a year and a half old? What took them so long?

The evangelical families I knew growing up "dedicated" their kids when they were a few months old or younger. The non-bible-beating Christians baptized at around the same age. I was baptized at three months old (ELCA Lutheran sprinkling, which clearly did not take), and I was told my grandparents were unhappy it took so long! My grandparents must have known something about me that nobody else did.

That's why I wondered if he got a dedication when he was an infant when they were still at Joy Baptist.

As someone who was diagnosed with Graves’ disease and hyperthyroidism after my daughter was born and went a full thyroid removal i can say that Jill has some sort of autoimmune issue. Of course she will never know or get it taken care of. Auto immune may have contributed to her miscarriages as well. It’s a hell of a battle I wish on no one even though I dislike her so much.

I also have half eyebrows and hypothyroidism. I had my doctor check my thyroid specifically because I was having trouble losing any weight. Like horrible trouble. I could starve and not lose a pound. No reset would’ve worked for me, like it doesn’t appear to help Jill. As soon as I got on medication, the weight just seemed to fall off.

The old Catholics made you run to get the baby baptized. God forbid that baby die with original sin. I was young for the first baby, so we did run and have him baptized at three weeks old. For the second one I was much more relaxed about all that, and waited until it was summer because I wanted to have a baptism party outside. He was five months old, and my mother-in-law nearly had a stroke.

I remember they taught you how to do an emergency baptism, nevermind if the water wasn't blessed. I baptized my dog! With  my son, we waited until he was about 5 or 6 months. He was born in January and it was an especially cold winter. No way would I throw a party.

Yeah, when I was born, I was one of twins, two months premature. We were baptized as soon as they could get a priest in. My sister did not survive. I had another, more formal baptism at about 8 months. Too bad that after all that baptizing, religion never did resonate with me. Even after I went through my confirmation (well, it was expected of me, and I was too much of a coward to refuse)...

Exactly the same! He was born in February in the Midwest. I didn’t even know if we were going to get to the hospital because there had been a blizzard. I wanted a party outside, and dammit I was gonna get it! Besides, who wants a party when the baby is still feeding all the time and cranky. I barely remember my first christening party because I was always stuck in the bedroom with the baby. That child didn’t even have a confirmation because we had fallen out of the Catholic Church by that time. Again, mother-in-law was stroking out.

I was always the kid who questioned everything in Catholic school. Nothing was making sense to me, so I was not a good little Catholic girl. I was a good kid, but never religious. Today I consider myself spiritual. I tend to believe that there is a higher power, but what, I don’t know. I don’t believe in organized religion, and definitely not fundamentalism.

My mom told me that when her kids were born (1960 - 63). the Catholic Church instructed that once the baby came home from the hospital, it could not be taken outside again until it was carried to the church for the christening. The idea was to expose the baby to as little danger as possible, lest it die unchristened in a state of original sin.

1) Thank goodness my mother didn't hear that at the local parish.  She probably would have ignored it anyway if she had.  She always had an issue with original sin.

2) Thank you folks who mentioned about losing the outside of your eyebrows with hypothyroidism.  I have Hashimoto's and can't remember when I last had full eyebrows.  I had trouble losing weight even after getting on the right dose of medication, but I could lose slowly.

Jill will never go to the doctor to be tested for anything because that would prove God didn't think she was the bestest most specialist person.   And/or there were things that Plexus doesn't actually cure.   Either way it would go right to the heart of her grift.    You can't grift off "I have hyperthyroidism, please help."

My parents only had three kids, spaced pretty far apart. My aunt and uncle had 10, all close together. When the families would get together, the parents wanted to go out for a fancy dinner and my mother insisted that my sister and I go along (My older sister was already gone). My aunt wanted nothing to do with kids, and just wanted an adult dinner. The compromise was that we got to go with the cousins that were our age. My uncle was a doctor, so they definitely could’ve afforded to bring all the kids unlike Jill, but they didn’t want the bother of the kids. I suspect Jill is thrilled to get away from most of them.

Hey, it’s tax time. Maybe David and Jill got a big refund and decided to actually take the kids out on their own dime? Hard to imagine I know.

Nathan is going to need a second job if this visit goes on much longer. MeMe Jill will require a lot of special treatment since she didn't make the cut for the cruise, and David's wallet never leaves his pocket.

Years ago, my son went on vacation with my parents. We gave him money if he wanted to buy some kind of souvenir. He came back not having spent a penny. My dad said the money went on vacation.

Jill posted on her stories yesterday about the hole that Russia dug almost to hell. One small Google search shows that no such thing happened. But I’m sure Google is somehow too mainstream/real world for our gal.

The sounds included with it were as scary as hell (ha, look how that pun worked out).

Good God she is stupid! If you believe in hell, it isn't in the core of the earth! Just like heaven isn't in the sky.

Jill has a new video on FB.  They spruced up Nathan’s church by painting the walls  Two things:   One of the girls is in loose pants ( Nurie?). And either Gideon or Nathan is asleep across several chairs - with a clock that says about 5:20?  And it’s dark outside.  So did they paint all night?

Who starts with this kind of nonsense, I wonder?  And believing it?  A whole other level of delulu.  Funny as hell, LOL!  😜

That story has been around for years and years.  I remember someone telling me that over 50 years ago.  It truly amazes me how anyone with any education or common sense at all can believe that would even be possible.  To me, that is in the same category with the "pastor" somewhere that told his followers to quit their jobs and give all their money and possessions away because the world was ending at 2:00 the following Sunday.  Sadly, a lot of people followed his advise, and at 3:00 that Sunday they had absolutely nothing--no homes, clothing or money.  I am a person of strong faith, but I really felt sorry for those people that had nothing anymore.  I have less compassion for anyone who believes and tries to convince others that it is possible to dig a hole to the center of the earth.

People of Jilly’s ilk have been praying for decades for the end of the world. And they are looking for every little thing to support that their doomsday worship is correct. I refuse to believe it all. Is there some crazy stuff going down right now?  Sure. But I won’t get my bloomers in a bunch over it. I am going to continue being the best person I can be here and now, try and make a difference, and hope things work out for the best down the road.  Entry into Heaven isn’t based on what you wore or how often you went to church. It’s about how you lived your life and what you did for others.

Well, Jill figures if you're one of those people who is going to end up in the center of the earth, you should give her all your money and have a satisfying 15 minutes on the toilet before you go.

For some reason, I can’t stop laughing at the word culottes! I don’t think I’ve heard that since I was a kid and wore them. Of course Nurie drags out the closest thing to pants she has ever owned to get them completely covered in paint and ruined. She’s kind of a ghostly looking character. She stands out as looking strange with the siblings, even though they’re also skinny. Something about her being extra pale, and her dark hair and weird eyebrows, usually paired with a dark lipstick makes her look ghostly to me.

I will give someone credit because the church turned out OK. I did notice that Jill removed the American flag in the corner and put a plant there. During a Republican administration? How dare she.

Of course I’m sick of the young girls painting past 5:30am. And I am a little unsure who the book nook is for. It did something with the empty space (and the clock in there showed that it was after two in the morning when the girls were painting), but it was a bookcase and a very little bench. When is one person going to go sit on the bench and read alone in a weird space? How many are in his congregation by the way? It seems so small, I don’t know how it can be profitable.

Even though the post office windows are closed and there is no service and no deliveries today, the actual post office lobby remains unlocked and open. You can go in and mail your envelopes, etc in the mail slots in the lobby. Employees are working in the back sorting mail and the trucks moving the mail alto their zip code destinations are working today. The PO basically never stops. I have mailed envelopes on days where the post office was "closed".

Yes, but the mail doesn’t always  get postmarked on holidays.   That’s what Jill wants to use to say a person got their registration in on time.

She is not even home to open these envelopes and record registrations.  Unless she gets so many entries that she has to have a waiting list, why does it matter when they mailed it if she isn’t going to be home for two more weeks?

She doesn’t even understand that postmark and post date aren’t the same thing.

I would imagine that Jill has put Kaylee in charge of the registrations. She probably has the key to a PO box, and can access Jill's information for the hotel. Or Jill checks in with Kaylee every evening and gets the numbers to input herself. I wonder what deadlines she has now? Does this latest blast mean that numbers are down this year? With the cost of everything, it wouldn't surprise me.

Jill apparently is now obsessed with nooks. that book nook could have been a coffee nook. idk Jill is just obsessed with doing room make overs constantly. maybe she should do that as a side job or something. make some $.

I used to be when I was younger. I had a reading nook. A chair and ottoman in the corner with a stack of books beside the chair and table for drinks. Now I don't bother with one because I read sitting on the couch or in bed.

Its sad but I get a feeling Renee will not marry. I know we were all waiting for Jana and thinking the same, but look at the difference in their lives. Sure, there are plenty of similarities but Jana so much more being on the show, traveling and meeting new people that I feel she wasn't as sheltered as Renee. I also think she doesn't have an overbearing and manic mother like Jill (and I'm not saying Michelle is a prize) who runs rough shod over her kids. Mostly, Renee doesn't look happy. She can smile all she wants when the camera is pointed at her but it doesn't reach her eyes.

Smiles don’t reach any of their eyes when Jill is around.
I agree, I don’t think Renee will ever marry. If she does, it will be later in life, after the littles are grown. Jill stands to lose too much losing her live-in housekeeper/babysitter.
