Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

The Politics Policy is still in effect. A participants social media is NOT an invitation to discuss their political view points. Consider if discussion of certain social media posts will cause you to violate the politics policy BEFORE you hit the "Submit Reply" button.

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

In her stories, Jill included a video of the outside of the hospital. This included showing exactly which window is their room. 🤦‍♀️

Followed by this, along with a picture of Jill and the woman.

”Was able to lead this sweetheart to the Lord, right in Walmart!  😊  God is Good!  <3”

I wonder if these people get that some of the people they "save" just go a long with it to either have them go away and leave them alone or they are hoping for some $$.

Jill giving someone directions to where the kleenex aisle is, is not leading them to the Lord.   Geez.

I bet it wasn't one of them heathen women who Jill ASSumes are single just because they are at WalMart during the day with a bunch of kids and no man in sight.   (you know because the husband has an actual JOB and provides for his family).

The young lady was a POC with a double nose piercing and dyed hair (not blue though!) so you’re correct that Jillpm was SEVERELY judging her on appearance.

(For the record the worker looked much better than Jill and I’m quite pissed that Jillpm signaled this gal out for her god bothering)

Does Jill just troll the aisles of Walmart, stopping random people in their tracks and asking them if they're "saved?"  I think Jill is playing with fire here.  People don't typically enjoy being accosted by strangers demanding to know their religious beliefs when they're just trying to buy their groceries or wash a load of laundry.  Surprised she hasn't had security escort her out of a building yet - for which she would, we know, scream "persecution!"

Hopefully this poor worker didn’t get into trouble with her boss - maybe the whole god bothering only lasted a minute or so. I don’t think Walmart encourages their employees to chitchat with customers instead of doing their actual jobs.

I looked at a few resources, and I think a Walmart employee is expected to be courteous and respectful to customers. I found a Code of Conduct online that mentions that expectation. While employees are not to tolerate threats or harassment (they're supposed to call the cops actually in those cases), I think that listening to a customer for a few minutes of conversation wouldn't be out of line.

I feel for those employees in the store; they're sitting ducks when people approach them and want to just yak instead of talk about something related to the store. The employee has to be open and courteous at the customer's first approach, and then I suppose that if the customer wants to proselytize, the employee has to figure out the most graceful way to bring the encounter to an end.

And on the corporate policy level, heaven forbid that any retailer even gives the impression that it discriminates against any religion, so I'm sure they give the Bible-beaters like Jill some room to do their thing in the stores. Walmart is headquartered practically in the buckle of the Bible Belt, so I'm sure they've got a handle on this at least at the corporate level.

I can see Jill approaching an employee and asking if they are saved and the employee being polite and going "uh-huh" and "yeah" a lot.   Then Jill ran with "I saved a soul."   While the employee went back to the breakroom to tell her colleagues about the crazy lady who tried to talk about Jesus to her.

I had a standard answer when these types would approach me (never worked walmart just in general).   Are you born again?   No my mom got it right the first time.   Shuts them up quick.   If Jill approached me and asked if I was saved, I would say "too busy feeding my kids and making sure they get a good education."   (please note I have no kids but Jill doesn't know that).

I work at a library and many years ago at the service desk, 2 young guys that were Mormons approached my one co-worker and started to talk to her. I left the desk and went into the back and called her saying "we needed her in the back". It gave her an out without being rude. She came back and I went out. I must not be approachable because they did not talk to me.

I've had someone at my library ask me if I believe in Jesus. I don't even remember how I responded, but she dropped the conversation and was awkward around me for years. LOL One of my coworkers told me she must come across as even more of a heathen because the same one brought her a pamphlet. 😂😂😂

Truly, though, I absolutely hate dealing with people who treat employees as captive audiences to blather at regarding either religion or politics. It doesn't even matter if I actually agree with them--it tells me they don't respect you as a person. But we already knew that about Jill.

When I worked in a doctor's office, I really got along with everyone. One day, I was talking to two women about a dream I would have every so often. It was kind of an apocalyptic scenario with the Anti-Christ and me saying how I would die before I would renounce Jesus (I wasn't even super religious). The one woman, whom I always liked, told me that I have those dreams because I haven't been washed by the blood of Jesus and saved. The other woman also said how she was saved and they started talking about their churches.

I ended up cooling my "friendships" with both after that. Funny, one of the ladies in the lab that I worked in was Jewish as were many of our doctors. I wonder if they would say that to them.

ETA-- I'm Catholic and so was one of the doctors.

I'm a Christian and I go to church, but I'm about as far from evangelical that you can get.  One day I was filling my car up with gas and some JW came over to me.  I was nice and they were too.  They did ask me if I wanted a pamphlet to read later and I turned it down saying I would just throw it away.

But I'm sure with Jill if someone tries to be nice, she would badger them until they accepted Jil's Jesus.   Maybe she thinks it brings her closer to Jesus if someone with piercings and colored hair accepts Jesus as their Savior.

I think she does. I mean a person like that is obviously a horrible sinner. 🙄

God obviously is not good to that woman who just went to Walmart with thoughts of doing her job (something Jill can't relate to)🙂

Yes, she was wearing a blue vest with pins.

Poor woman, Walmart isn't exactly a joy to work for (retail in general is pretty sucky) and then she gets stuck with Jill.

I was trapped on an airplane once with a seat mate who kept bothering me and wanted to pray for me.  Never mind that I am an active church member.  It wasn't her church, so I was wrong.  That was a long 3 hour flight because I had no where to go.  If these "saving" people only realized that actions speak so much louder than words......   I would hate to see what damage the Rods could do on an airplane.

So would I. I would probably tell the person off.

Maybe to get them to shut up, I would ask if they would like me to teach them about something that I know would bother them, the Koran? The Virgin Mary? The Pope? Buddha? Heck, I would even throw in the devil if it worked.

Isn't one box for the Rods and the other for the guest preacher? That's a lot of giving expected from the church.

I know people who only put some small change in such boxes.  One woman I know says they get a nickel.  She really hates the extra begging requests.

I usually go with the Devil it really freaks them out especially when you ask them to join. But I bet Allah would have the same reaction

So he is still in college. I know there was speculation that he wasn't. I guess good for him.  He certainly looks better.

Philip looks like a completely different person with some pounds on him.  Amazing what escaping the Barndo will do.

I hope Jill had fun at the baseball game.  She probably used her scorecard to mark off the players that don't look "saved" so she can message them later.

Happy birthday bud! Mahmo and daddy sort of care about you (sometimes).

Clearly the favored son since he gets taken out for his birthday.   Poor renee got little debbie cakes.   The other one got a teeny cake that was probably a leftover.   But Phil gets a baseball game AND cake.
