Wow, it was worth accomplishing nothing today in order to watch these matches. What an insanely awesome day of tennis.

I absolutely adore Juan Martin, but when you have break chances against Nadal, you have to convert. He's going to be seeing those missed opportunities in nightmares for weeks to come.

I completely forgot about Isner/Raonic until they showed the last point. Those two are the equivalent of watching paint dry, so that match was totally irrelevant to me.

I'd actually love to see Kevin Anderson surprise everyone and win the title. Tall task, I know, but it's fun when things get shaken up.

Yeah, I just read articles about Isner wanting *the person who shall not be named* to see him play.  I have never liked watching Isner play anyway, so I'm rooting for anyone but him to win it all.

I'm watching Serena's interview and I hope those eyebrows aren't permanent because they are scary.  I can't tell if they're tattooed on.

ugh.. someone told me that Isner said if he made the final, he'd invite Trump to watch. (sorry to inject anything political in here) So, I'm hoping for an Anderson-Rafa final with Rafa winning.

Let's just say that I'm anyone but Isner, period. Although the slightly evil part of me kind of wants him to make the final, only to be completely destroyed in embarrassing fashion by either Rafa or Djokovic. I was never a fan of him as a player, because he's much like Roddick to me and all the other big serving American players of the last few years. Big serve and little else to their game. But yeah, heard about the other more recent stuff and my reaction was, "well it's fitting that I never liked you anyway".

I am soooo close now to my Rafa prediction coming true. At which time @truthaboutluv will NEVER doubt me again!

Okay, look, am I the only one thinking maybe it is time to stop playing on grass. The increasingly numerous slips and falls makes me very nervous for the players. All those knees getting buckled, and the legs getting jammed, and the ankles rolled. Players down on the ground having to determine if they are alright to even get up. The grass gets so worn away anyway, making it even more trecherous when they run from where it is all dirt to a still grassy part. I mean, I know it is a very long standing tradition, but the way the game is played now, I think it has become an unsafe surface.

I hope for some more spectacular tennis tomorrow. But Dj's attitude is soooo perilous right now, and it affects his play. I can see him folding if Rafa beats him down right away. Which I assume he will. I did enjoy Dj's scuffle with Carlos Ramos in the quarters, and I thought he was right! As for Anderson/Isner ...um... it should be a great match ...for people who really REALLY like watching players serve.  :)

I'm with @BlackberryJam they should have moved Nadal-Djokavic to Court one.  Probably around noon (6pm Wimbledon time) . Granted the eventual winner of Isner-Anderson will be fatigued-- but to push the other semi final to SAturday conflicts with the ladies final and gives the winner of Rafa-Novak less time to recover. So basically they're screwing over everyone.

I remember a US Semi-final not too long ago (pre-roof) when they were worried about getting both men's semis and the women's final played because of impending weather, so they moved on semi-final from Ashe to Armstrong and played them simultaneously.

So I'm watching now and we're likely going to be a set apiece in a minute with the 11 pm curfew lurking in the background. I wonder if they're really going to call it or let it slide? If I were Rafa or Nole, I'd lose my shit if I had to go home, regroup and come back in the morning.

I also agree the Men's Final is going to be garbage. Anderson's had two grueling five-setters in a span of three days. He seems like such a nice, positive guy but his body's going to be spent.

Also, Novak/Rafa is some beautiful damn tennis,

Yes it is. And why I can never like players like Isner - all big serve and nothing else. I want rallies dammit. I want court movement and backhands and forehands and slice shots and seeing players cover the court with amazing speed and agility. That ace, ace shit is boring as hell.

eta: That said, man that third set tiebreak was frustrating for me as a Rafa fan. Well tomorrow is another day. That said, I did pick Djokovic to win the whole thing, so I'm unbothered either way. Rafa has already delivered far more than I was expecting from this Wimbledon.

When discussing it earlier the commentators said it was a “local curfew” which made me think it’s not at the discretion of the tournament, the same way Universal Studios in Orlando has to close at a certain time because it’s in a residential neighborhood. I could be totally wrong, though. I would want to believe that if it were up to the tournament they would want to do the right thing for the players and let them finish. Of course, even with the day delay whoever wins this match is clearly still at a physical advantage over Anderson coming off his six hour match.

I still have not warmed to Novak even a little

Me neither. He's too needy and desperate to be liked and it's a total turn-off. I'm also tired of the endless shots of his drama-queen wife agonizing over every point in the player's box. I can't tell if she's playing to the cameras or in desperate need of a Xanax.

Serena looks a little nervous to me. There's been so much hype surrounding her comeback and making it to the final that I feel like there's way more pressure on her than Kerber.

I think she'll find her range though. It's not unusual for Serena to be shaky in the first set and pull it together in the second.

On an unrelated note, I love Duchess Kate's dress. Meghan also looks cute with her sporty-casual ensemble.

I think it would be exhausting to live with someone like that, but since I don't have to, his neediness amuses me greatly as does the fan reaction to him. There seems to be a bit of a temper with him, but in the history of great tennis players, it's really that not much. His timing is just bad in terms of winning hearts--not that he doesn't have fans, but if he'd been maybe 10 years older or come along after Federer/Nadal were retired and been this successful, he'd be more popular to begin with and likely wouldn't make such displays of neediness in the first place.

I was pulling for Nadal but had a feeling Djokovic would take it. When he retires and publishes his autobiography, maybe he'll share the real story about his horrible swoon and the business with the guru.

Congrats to Kerber, just wish it had been a better effort from Serena.

Great win for Kerber. I don't think Serena played completely awful, but Kerber was running down balls that would usually be winners for Serena and didn't give away any free points.

The commentators are acting like it's the end of the world that Serena lost, but it's like get a grip. It's her fourth tournament back after taking a year off. Making it to the final was a huge accomplishment. I don't necessarily consider this a "fail" for her.

Kerber matches up well with Serena, to the extent anyone does. She's such a good defender and so consistent that she makes Serena hit multiple winners to get a point, and today that drew Serena into making way too many errors. Plus I think Kerber had like five unforced errors in the whole match. And Kerber's ability to change the direction on the ball helps keep Serena off balance, and she refuses to give up the baseline, unlike a lot of defenders (like Wozniaki, for example).

I think Serena will win the US Open though, especially now. She'll be even more motivated after this match.

Also Angie seems like a wonderful, sweet person so congrats to her! She played a great match, and it's a well deserved championship.

OMG, so it’s not just me. And because of her dramatics, the cameras stay on her a lot and girlfriend is exhausting. I get how nerve wracking it must be to watch someone you love and you can’t control the outcome, but damn girl, pull it together.

That said, I did pick Novak to win it all after seeing his performance in his first few rounds, so this result doesn’t surprise me.

Of course I would have loved to see Rafa win the title again but he delivered far more than I was expecting when it started and I am more than proud as a fan. Hell, based on how he was playing at the start of the fourth, I never thought this would go the distance that it did.

eta: I knew Kerber would win because I didn’t think Serena’s fitness was where it needed to be to beat Kerber if she was on her game.

Anyone who beats Serena in a major is never given enough credit.  The post-match analysis is always all about Serena--how did she lose it, not how did her opponent win.

The real question is will Chris Evert ever make it back to daylight after having her head so far up Serena's ass for the last 2 weeks.

Yes!  It's all about Serena.  Of course, I don't blame Serena, I blame the commentators, but I usually just change the channel right after a match that Serena plays--win or lose--because I just can't stand to listen to Chris Evert and crew.

Seriously.  That little "Ode to Serena" that she did before Serena 's semifinal match was puke worthy.  And I think Everett is fake AF because I never got the sense that she cared for either of the Williams sisters.

Good win for Angie.  She seems like such a sweetheart.
