Ultimately, it doesn't matter to me whether or not Erika actually was in on it or knew about it or decided not to question where the money into her company was coming from.

What matters most to me is how she reacted, on camera, to Tom's victims and the injustices they continue to endure.   That's when I decided she was a straight up sociopath.   THAT was real reality so rarely seen on these shows.  I cannot forget her utter disregard to their pain and suffering and her, "I only care about me!!!" declarations.

That part of the doc was difficult to watch. As PK said, she's inherently cold.

Praying for justice for the victims…

And may the Petty Mess finally have to honestly answer.

All that, AND! How outright venomous she got at that one lunch/dinner. That was SCARY.

Oh. Not the Hong Kong dinner (though that was scary)… the other one.

I never even saw that documentary, although I did read about it on this thread at the time.  I was referring to her reaction to the other RHOBH's saying, "What about the victims?"  in Aspen (I think it was in Aspen).

Ah, OK. I misunderstood you. But that 2-part series was something else. Whew!

an article about it IF you wanted to read it guys

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/rhobh-erika-jayne-headed-trial-133540663.html

Thanks, KW - this part of the article is interesting:

"The trustee’s legal team further claims the expenses were recorded on law firm books as loans. The team is suing Erika personally, as well as her businesses EJ Global, LLC and Pretty Mess, Inc. The lawsuit contends “Ms. Girardi knowingly and willingly participated in Mr. Girardi’s criminal enterprise, and the money used to pay her business expenses were monies from that criminal enterprise.”

If they can prove that the expenses were actual loans to EJ Global, LLC and Pretty Mess, Inc., than I would think that the principals of those entities would be responsible for re-paying the loans.  I'm no legal expert, so I could be wrong.  I would assume that Erika is a principal in both the LLC and the Pretty Mess corporation - again, I could be wrong about that.

Either way, if Tom set up the payments to Erika's businesses as loans, he really screwed her over too - knowing that eventually, she may be responsible for re-payment.  And, if, as she used to claim, Erika thoroughly read through all documents she may have signed, she would also know that she bears responsibility.

Wasn't it Erika who said that even though she wasn't a lawyer, she knew so much that she learned from Tom that she could probably be a lawyer?  Well, I guess we'll see now how much he taught her.

I hope that the trustee and their lawyers nail her inconsiderate, self-serving ass to the wall.

What's that old saying?

If you marry for money, you'll earn every penny.

I'd be curious to know if Tom had been cheating on Erika for their entire marriage.

I'd be willing to bet he had. So much for her braggadocio.

He probably needed to spend time with someone who wasn’t inherently cold. And had a voice that wasn’t so painfully nasal and without a laugh like Roseanne Barr.

Didn’t her publicist advise her to walk that back? I recall her later claiming that she meant, “When you’re on a plane, you need to put on your own air mask first. So then you’ll be able to help others.”

Such a crock.

Yep that clip of her snarling that statement was one of the best glimpses of the real Erika with her mask down. She is a cold, calculating opportunist.

PK nailed her from the start. Remember the scene of Erika’s therapist trying to explain empathy to her? Not a good sign!

Can y’all imagine spending millions in order to strut around in a t@a show - even not knowing that your husband stole the money. Who does that?!

When she first came on the show she told us that she was every middle-aged woman's fantasy!  (Meaning her pop-star lifestyle). And I thought, "Not mine, my friend!" 😂

Erika is incredibly delusional. And so prideful and egotistical. She will never ever even consider that she is flawed.

I know it’s her survival instinct, because of her childhood. But my mom chose to rise above her painful childhood. It made her MORE empathetic. Hundreds of thousands of individuals rise above it.

My soon-to-be-ex is a LOT like Erika. He loves telling everyone about how messed up his childhood was. He has repeated this story several times to everyone. But he embraces it and all the excuses and justifications it allows him to be a narcissistic a- -hole.

Maybe that’s why Erika triggers me.

But, objectively, I can recognize that she is irrefutably subhuman and has no redeeming qualities.

You are so nice!! I truly appreciate that, Stats Queen.

We each moved to separate homes the end of January. It has been wonderfully peaceful and conflict-free. Stress-free. Gaslighting-free. My son even said, “It’s so nice here, without Dad.”

Your support and concern means the world to me.

I’ve been there. I call May 6 my Independence Day and celebrate it every year. That was in 1992 and I’ve been remarried to my wonderful husband for almost 30 years, but I still celebrate every year

I must have missed the episode re: her childhood. What was so damaging or traumatic that she can't understand the pain that she & Tom caused??

So again it just feels like excuses for Dorit and Erika are being made while throwing Sutton under the bus ..

by a large margin BOTH Erika and Dorit have done and said more fucked up mean shit and have been MORE emotional then Sutton but it’s not their behavior being corrected or monitoring or even called out.. there is a bias and I get it we all like and dislike people for different reasons

.. just call a spade a spade and call it what it is .. they dont care how Dorit and Erika act or defend themselves  just Sutton .. Erika and Dorit can say vile shit and call Sutton every name but her Christin one and be emotional cuss and everything and it’s ok .. Sutton tho must be demure and passive and take it .. and because she’s not she’s in the wrong ..

I’m just seeing a weird wonky yard stick everyone else gets but when it’s Sutton NOPE she doesn’t get the same grace

Sutton doesn't start out as a dick.  It is when she responds to someone else's bullshit that she loses it.  She is just not a good fighter. Too much of a people pleaser.  Erika, Dorit and Kyle have been dicks/confrontational straight out of the gate.  Sutton is just awkward.  But I like her.

Another unfortunate truth is that Sutton doesn't get the same grace from fans that Erika and Dorit do because Sutton isn't conventionally "attractive" to them. She's not "serving lewks" or "slaying the house down" or whateverthefuck else viewers deem as important.

They are the two shittiest and most fraudulent in the cast. And they are the most broke in a franchise that is supposed to exude opulence. For goodness sakes, Dorit talks with a fake accent and Erika is so selfish she's unsympathetic to Tom's victims because of how it all impacts her bank account!  But only Sutton sucks because of how she reacts to the girls when they incessantly poke at her.

side bar:  I thought of Poorit yesterday watching a thing on Cary Grant.  They spoke about him fine tuning his Transatlantic accent.

Erika and Poorit can't stand that Sutton can buy and sell them.

Exactly. I don't want to dismiss the trauma of a father leaving, but it's sadly not supper uncommon. One of the nicest people I've ever met had a similar upbringing to Erika-a father who never had anything to do with her and a mother who was very young and was tough on her. And like you said, some people have it worse and still grow up to be good human beings.

Yeah that's exactly it for me and why I gravitate towards Sutton over most of the others. Her bad moments are normally a response to mistreatment. And when she is confrontational/inquisitive, she has valid points and questions, like the Girardi scandal. On Housewives, we've seen so many moments where it's clear a cast member is set out to humiliate someone over stuff that's not the public's business-malicious gossip about alleged affairs, implying a husband is a creep over nonsense (Potomac), secret surrogacies, alleging poor hygiene, STDs, etc. But a Housewife lived an OTT lifestyle off the backs of orphans and widows, says her cast members shouldn't give a f*** about anyone else but her, and Sutton is the bad guy for having questions? She's the one who mistreats people when they're at their lowest point? Give me a break.

Eh, maybe so or maybe not on the childhood thing for me.     I mean Kyle had a pretty unconventional childhood (going to work at age 4 etc.) and managed to come out of it with a sense of decency towards others and even raised some kids that are pretty well grounded for Beverly Hills.

On the other hand Rinna had what sounded like a very conventional  two parent childhood  in Oregon with a good Mom (according to Rinna) like Lois and yet became so outright mean and vicious she's the only HW I actually hated.  Her daughters sound effed up too.

Mindthinkr here's your emoji 🙄  As for Erika, cry me a river. I'm willing to bet that at least half of us here had "tough" parents. But it didn't cause us to become a mean & nasty person...especially towards victims that she practically stole from.

Excellent point. Rinna saying, “You’re so angry” to Denise made me see red. Rinna will do anything for a dollar. If that means she risks destroying a decades-long friendship and tries to humiliate her friend on TV, she will happily oblige. I hate both Rinna and Erika.

It's also interesting that Rinna kind of wound up that way because her childhood seems to have been fine.

Although I'm remembering that it seemed she left Oregon as soon as she hit 18. That could mean all sorts of things. I think her older sister's death was a black cloud over the family for many years, and maybe that's the reason she bolted shortly after high school. That's not an excuse, but sometimes I wonder if certain traumas/situations leave an indelible mark on some people that never fully heals.

Who knows.
