Lady Gaga didn't show up until after the half hour mark and didn't speak until about 45 minutes in. I guess she did okay for the little lines she had. I think Jessica Lange would've killed it in a similar role. Because you know it would've been toned down a bit for her over what Lady Gaga's is willing to do. Which will probably result in a bunch of torture porn and nudity.

However on the shallow end, I loved seeing Matt Bomer's perfect face. He is so very pretty.

So, so very pretty.

You are right about Lady Gaga being wiling to push the sex scenes.  In the article I read she said she asked to push it more to make if seem more real (which would make it easier for her to portray).

Hearing about Matt Bomer was almost enough to tempt me as well.  I considered it for about two whole minutes before I came to my senses.  I don't do horror or bloody anything so vampire sex blood orgies probably not my thing...even artfully done.

Matt Bomer was very very pretty on the show, naked Matt Bomer was probably the best part of the whole show.

I never finished watching Freak Show, I'll see how far I last for this one, I have nothing else I watch at that time. It is very torture porn. rapey and bloody, so if that's not your thing I wouldn't suggest watching Hotel.

Speaking of hotness. David Tennent's evil voice on the new Jessica Jones trailer.

Cleolinda Jones is livetweeting the genderswapped book:

https://twitter.com/cleolindajones

When I went online to find out what was that Twilight thing people made all a fuss about on TV, I had the good luck to click on the link to her blog.

I never read the books, but I do re-read her recap of the last one whenever I need a good laugh. It's snark at its best for me, because it isn't condescending nor hateful.

About the new TV season, I wasn't disappointed in the couple of show I wanted to check: The Grinder (Rob Lowe is such an absolute blast) Grandfathered and Blindspot. I like them, and I'm growing to love them. I also fell upon Code Black, it has that nice early ER vibe about it, and the actors are good, even though of course it isn't groundbreaking like ER was.

If the cubs win the year that marty went back to the future i will flip.

Heard about this connection earlier this morning. Consider my mind blown. It's been awhile since I watched it, but in the movie is it the year the curse is broken too?

Since I have no other team in the running I was gonna root for the Cubs - but now it has to happen! It's too mind-boggling to be more than a quirky coincidence.

I live in Chicago and while I'm rooting for them because it's been 106 years, I still think it's too soon to count the chickens. They still have a ways to go.

Wise choice to be cautious :) Superstitions run strong for a reason. You can never be too sure or too confidant.

I just saw the trailer for the new TV series, The Shadowhunters (based on the YA book series, The Mortal Instruments).  The casting looks like it comes from the typical CW pool of actors, even though it will air on ABC Family.  I mention this because the actress who plays Clary (Katherine McNamara, age 19) looks a little like a younger, red-haired KC...

Her hair is distracting, but I'll watch that show.  I watch supernatural anything and I read the books (which talk about angst machine - jeez).  The movie wasn't anything great, but it seems like the content could lead itself to a series show.

I liked the first few books, but than it was just an endless repeat of plot points and randoms characters that weren't needed at all. Finishing the books were a chore.

I was mad she gave all the characters happy endings. There are some series that just don't call for it.

I didn't know where else to put this but...

It's weird. Last year I kept dreading Arrow Wednesdays and now I just. can't. WAIT. I need it to be Wednesday now :') I'm so glad to have this feeling back for my favorite show. But it's also really frustrating.

Maybe the Favorite Things thread? Which has not gotten a whole lot of action during/after season 3, but hopefully that'll change this season!

So, Once is airing in twenty minutes and I'm not watching live, I'm going to watch it either tonight or tomorrow. I'm home, I have no plans because I don't make plans during it. I just don't care to watch. Which is more upsetting then I care to admit. Arrow better not fuck up this season.

I can't believe I don't find the lead a douchebag. But he makes a rather likable goof.

Did you watch Greek? Jake McDorman played an actual doucheface asshat in that show, and I thought he was likable, even before they toned down the character. It's his superpower.

I've had Once at meh, I'll get around to it status for a couple season now.  I've found that I get really oddly resistant to watching and then the episodes pile up in my DVR.   I've found it's helpful to binge watch episodes so if something really bothers me in one episode, then there is usually something that makes it better in a following episode.

So unenthusiastic about most shows this fall that I am currently making my way through the second season of Chuck on Netflix. I'm still in for Flash and Arrow but I've tired of Shondaland, Castle, OUAT, and many others. I left many others like Bones and NCIS years ago.

Still watching B99, Good Wife, Empire (though I'm meh on that show), Nashville (I know) and AOS.

Should I press play on Sleepy Hollow? I've got Limitless and Quantico sitting in the queue but haven't pressed play yet either. Oh and the Grinder. It seems good. I just can't make myself press play.

I tried out Heroes Reborn but had to force myself through the pilot and decided life's too short.

I gave up on OUAT half-way through last year when Elsa and Anna left and I realized I really couldn't care less about most of the main characters on the show. I kept up with recaps, but very little I read motivated me to catch up. And I'm not any more interested in this season's arc than I was in 4B's. I had a flash of interest when I read that

Ruby/Meghan Ory

was returning, but it didn't last long.

ETA: Also, as a OUAT Wonderland fan, I completely resent that they brought Michael Socha in as a series regular and then did pretty much nothing at all with him, including ever resolving the issue of why he was there in the first place.

So I've given up on most of my shows and have been rewatching Parks and Rec, Chuck, The Office ad nauseum.

I've dropped: OUAT, The Good Wife, Castle, HTGAWM, Grey's, Scandal, The Flash, New Girl, Empire, Homeland, Downton Abbey...

I haven't really gotten into any shows... They just seem boring. I've tried Blindspot and Quantico... I've yet to try Limitless.

So basically the only shows I'm watching right now are B99, Arrow, The Mindy Project... And later: Jane the Virgin, LoT (give a couple of episodes a shot), and Supergirl.

I have a question that I hope someone can help with:

Does anybody on here live in or frequently travel to China? I'm moving there for several months in the spring and am worried about watching the last several S4 episodes of Arrow live or soon enough after the original airing that I won't spoil myself (no self control).

I currently live in the US and subscribe to Hulu Plus, and I plan to buy the season pass from Amazon.  Will either of those be sufficient if I don't have a TV there? Will I be able to easily access my Hulu or Amazon accounts there on my laptop or tablet? I'm not sure if these subscription-based services are bound by geographical market, especially if I'm accessing them from China while my husband is accessing them from the US.

Thanks!

I guess I stick around longer on some of my shows this fall season. I also rationalize them into categories so I'm not disappointed by them. The shows I want to shock me - Scandal, HTGAWM, Empire. The shows that are my comfort foods - ARROW, Nashville, OUAT & Castle. The shows that are my guilty pleasures - Reign, DWTS. The only show that fits in none of my categories is the Flash, which I have to watch now because of the shared universe regardless of how I feel about it & honestly my opinon of that show varies from week to week. Shows that I've been meaning to watch but just haven't found the time - Gotham, Sleepy Hollow & Mindy Project.

New shows that are still working themselves out for me - Quantico, Grinder & Heroes Reborn (it definitely got better in ep 3). And because of CD, I will tune into Chicago Med, but doubt I will be able to watch it. Are there really any other fall shows that are worth watching?

I honestly don't know if I want to get back into Marvel AoS now that there is nothing else on Tues night after Flash. Do people who watch it recommend it? I stopped in last third of s1.

I've been meh on SHIELD since it's existence, but the first two episodes this season have really grabbed me and I find I'm looking forward to it more than any other comic book show, save for Arrow, right now.

Anyone else really excited for the return of Jane the Virgin? It should start right as the Cubs game ends, so I'm happy to have something to immediately distract me if they lose.

I'm really liking AoS right now, they've been able to make it a team show. Plus I love that they switch up the pairings so we get to them interacting with different characters all the time.

Gotham as also been injected with new life, although I don't know if that will continue after last week.

I completely forgot about Sleepy Hollow, the eps are my DVR. If I remember it, I might try to watch them.

From experience trying to access my shows while traveling abroad, US streaming services are not (legally) available outside of the U.S. (Unless you're on a military base) Internet in China is even more restrictive than other places because the government heavily censors what content gets into the country. You may be out of luck getting shows live, unless there's a broadcast channel there airing the show. (From the Warner TV Asia commercials I see posted occasionally, it looks like parts of Asia are getting the same episodes we are, but I don't know if that includes China) Edited by lemotomato

My question is do I need to watch s2 of AoS to understand or get s3?

Some shows require that you watch every episode or the story is ruined for you. Not sure if AoS is like that, obviously I will appreciate s3 more if I watch every ep of s1&2. And if I watch the show, I will eventually watch s2 - but I don't think I have time to watch a whole season now or at least in time so I don't fall behind on s3.

Yes? They didn't reboot the show at all, they're continuing several storylines they started in S2. I mean, you can probably infer a lot of stuff because it's not like it's a super complex show or anything [and there's always Wikipedia], but it's really serialized.

You probably don't really need to finish season 1, but I would watch season 2 before starting season 3.

ETA. I only watched the later half of season 1, the eps after the events in Winter Solider. I've only seen 1 ep of the first half.

I really liked all of Agent of Shield's first season. It definitely got a lot better after the Winter Solider tie in, but there were some fun episodes before that; I liked seeing the different pair-ups in the episode on the train with the Stan Lee cameo, the episode where Simmons jumps out of the plane had a really nice focus on her, and the pilot, too.

You really don't "need to watch" season 2 of AOS. They didn't reboot but I skipped the entire second half and just watched the finale and then onto season 3. I'm going back to watch the rest of season 2 but everybody was saying 3 started so well so I did what I did.

Where in China?

I don't live there but I have a former classmate who does, and she might (emphasis on the might!) be able to provide an answer.

She really was hysterical. My university's mascot was the Minutemen. And we could never live down the taunts. So I totally get the "fastest man alive" joke on many levels.

I just love the quiet shade she throws to the FLASH. Because really it needs to be done :)

Yes find time for The Mindy Project. I also enjoyed all of the first season of Gotham but people keep saying this season is better. The Grinder is surprisingly funny. Fred Savage is excellent. As for Tuesday's after The Flash, I'd like to recommend iZombie. I'm really enjoying that show. (And I hate the zombie craze) Most episodes are fairly light but stuff happens.

I'm yet another person who totally didn't expect to like Limitless, but it's my favorite new show so far. Quantico is WAY too soapy (dropped it after ep 2), Blindspot is just very bland (both leads don't have a lot of personality) and Minority Report just sucks (well, maybe it doesn't anymore, haven't seen past the pilot).

I hear rave reviews of Crazy Ex-GF, I'll check it out soon.

Gotham got better towards the end of season 1, this season they are going (I'll borrow a phrase from SA) balls to the wall crazy. With a former proto Joker and a protoish Harley. Of course the biggest shock for me is what they did was last night, when Alfred punched Selina in the face! This show has turned much more violent than Arrow.
