That Sunday Riley Sunday School set is actually a good deal and then when you factor in the 15% off hell I might add that to my list.

It really is! I know Sunday Riley is $$$ but my skin is doing so well on Good Genes and the Tidal Moisturizer that I want to try other her other products too.

NARS NARSissist Loaded Eye Palette

Oooh, I think this is the palette I wanted but I couldn't remember what it was.  Running off to add this to my cart now (my wallet does not thank you!)!

I'd really like to find a good foundation that matches my skin tone and doesn't look terrible but I haven't gone to the trouble of testing a bunch of different foundations yet and I don't know if I'll have the time to do it.

Do the Sephora color iq. It's free and effective! And will match you with many brands and formulas.

Speaking of the company, the Sephora VIB and VIB Rouge sale is from April 19-24 it's 15% off

On my list:

Perricone HD Elemental Energy $75

Michael by Michael Kors $65

foundation for me (not sure if I'll get holy grail Estée Lauder Double Wear or bite the bullet on the Kevin Aucoin which performed excellent and uniquely. Life is too short not to put on bomb shit as the canvas for your face) $39.50 -58

Stila Magnificent Metals liquid eyeshadow $24

better than sex mascara my fave $20

the Sephora Sun essentials box $35? I think? I have actinic prurigo, an indigenous sun sensitivity that is irritating, so wanna have a range of products to try that are easy to tote.

Thats all for now. I might add a brow product or some sheet masks on whimsy. I also feel like it can't hurt to get a second bottle of perfume during this sale.

Best thing I ever did after my fav Shiseido foundation was discontinued is get the advice of a pro. I would never had gone for that specific color looking at it in the bottle but it makes my skin look like it's naturally perfect. Really, ask for a good advice, you might be pleasantly surprised - I know I was!

Shopping for foundation can be frustrating...unfortunately, sometimes it does take some time, getting samples to see what works.  Its often worth it though.  :)

I would personally recommend color matching for foundations at a dept store (Saks, Nordstrom etc) - Ive had the worst experience w so called "color matching" over the years at multiple Sephora and Ulta locations (even diff cities/states), IMHO, I think they have no idea what theyre doing. But maybe its just my experience.

The gals I use at my local Saks and Nordstrom stores seem more knowledgable, and are typically spot on w color suggestions, brands, formulas (I still get samples before buying full size).

Years of Face Off has made me realize that aside from the other foundation issues (formula, lack of color range especially for darker skintones), a big problem is that our faces are made of different colors which gives them dimension. Picking a foundation, I have to decide if I want to match the lighter neutral parts of my face or the pink/red tones or the darker yellow tones. I think sometimes I match the darker yellow tones, plus the drugstore makeup I bought (maybelline) oxidizes like crazy so it looks orange on me and I never wear it. My ideal would probably be something sheerer that still evened out my skintone and took down some of the redness.

I'll be adding this too.  I bought the one from 2 summer ago and loved almost every single product.  And I'm just starting to run out of those.

(Also, how am I already up to almost $200 in my basket?!?!  Damn sales!)

Sephora April sale! I'm bummed - the Sunday Riley Sunday School kit is out of stock, as is the NARS Loaded Palette. I ended up buying just skincare items this time - Dr Dennis Gross Ferulic + Retinol Recovery Peel, Kate Somerville Exfolikate, It Cosmetcs ByeBye undereye. I should have snuck a new lipstick in there.

I know! They sold out in hours of 2 items I wanted as well. I had my tentative list, plus i buy my mothers cosmetics and skin care.

As a VIB, I don't get access til tomorrow. Probably get the Shu Uemuera cleansing oil I use (have about a month's worth left) and see what there is. Maybe a perfume, or something from the Tom Ford line. I also have a $25 gift card I got at Christmas.

My Bay Lancôme gift with purchase arrived today. I thought it would come in one box along with my Le Creuset roasting pan but didn't.

The Nars Loaded Palette went quick!  I usually don't wait till sales to buy the items I really want, because this always happens.  :-(

Surprisingly, that was the only item I lost.  And I only ended up spending $220.

It's always a balancing act. I got all my essentials on the list I posted above. I wanted to add a few things but wasn't able to since they sold out. I heard a theory really hot ones they pull back that way the stock isn't depleted the first day, people order alternate stuff, and then later in the sale or afterwards it's available again and people place a second purchase. Who knows?! ? I ordered 2 orders online and when I got my confirmation emails my 3 free samples weren't in the list! I probably would have went a bit crazier but I have a bday purchase and event to deal with soon.

2:29 - received email that a Sunday Riley Sunday School is back in stock. By the time I read it at 5:30, it was sold out AGAIN. Just one of many signs from the universe that today was not my day.

It was in stock (on the Canadian site, anyway) when I made my purchase yesterday afternoon (around 2:30) - it might be gone again now.  I also purchased an overnight mask (Fresh) and a day cream (Origins).  I'm proud of myself for NOT buying any lip products (it's an addiction of mine)...or make-up, period!  :)

Speaking of samples, I bought two lip colors and a highlighter at Sephora, solely to use my discount.

When it came to samples, the guy who checked  me out said they were trying to get rid of inventory.  He gave me Urban Decay optical illusion complexion primer, FAB Bouncy Mask, Peter Thomas Roth rose stem cell gel mask,Josie Maran whipped argan oil face butter, ole henriksen polishing mask and truth serum, Boscia white charcoal mattifying setting spray, sephora mascara, a benefit sample set w/ push up liner, they're  real mascara, and makeup remover, and a mini makeup bag with a becca opal shimmering skin perfector sample, more truth serum, FAB coconut skin priming moisturizer, and a set of 4 UD primer potions(original, eden, minor sin, and anti-aging).  AND PLUS ALSO, I turned in my 250 points for an Ole Henriksen 7 day transformation set, and he didn't actually ring it in, so it cost me no points at all.

Best haul ever.

Not usually, no. Normally if they give me something in store it's like a sample of moisturizer.

@Watermelon I think this guy just liked you lol. That's completely not normal! I don't even get samples in the store and 2 of my shipments had no samples whatsoever!

I think so too lol. Ive gotten one thing from them a couple times but this has neeeeeeveer happened before. But we did bond over his green hair and a makeup look he's got planned that includes deep blue lip liner, sea green lip color, and glitter lol.

Same here.  You're better than me, although I did get some lip stuff (2 Bite Lip pencils and 2 Too Faced Melted Choclate Mattes), I definitely exerted some restraint. (But, I also bought some Kylie lip stuff earlier in the week...they had a really good sale [I bought 4 things and I got 3 additional for free) and I wanted to try them to see if they live up to the hype.)

Do they? I have several non Kylie matte lip stuff that I love, one is Burts Bees, but if Kylie's is THAT good I'd give it a try.

It took me 2 days to place my order.  Don't know if it was an ISP slowness issue or heavy website traffic at Sephora's site.  Most pages either crashed or took up to 5 minutes to load. Late Friday evening, things seemed to pick up a bit timewise.

Upon the recommendations here, I picked up the Sunday Riley set. Along with my Shu antioxidant cleansing oil (maybe 3-4 weeks left in my bottle), some Dior cream, and the Dior #002 pink highlighter. Also cashed in a Christmas gift card.

Has anyone received shipping notification yet?  I got mine yesterday, but there has been no update yet.  I think there may be some delays since so many people have made purchases.

I got my package on Friday.

One item that wasn't one my original but I purchased once I realized it wasn't sold out was the Farsali Unicorn Tears/Essence that everyone has been raving about.  I used it today after washing my face with my clarisonic and the algenist cleansing oil gel thing (can't remember the name, but I love it), and applied it before my moisturize.  My skin feels great (it always does after the clarisonic)  but I'm not sure I notice a huge difference.  Has anyone else tried it?

@PRgal, there's a note on the checkout page that there are delays in shipping due to high volume.

I stopped in Sephora on Friday to do a return and was able to pick up a Sunday Riley Sunday School set, a Bite lipstick (in Sake) and a Boscia BB cream. I looked at the NARS Loaded palette but in person it was too orange for me. I also ordered the belief First Aid 360 Eye Care Mask.

Oh, and I got the Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield on a whim. I'm glad I did; I really like it as a primer. My makeup lasted 8+ hours on Friday even though I forgot to put on my usual UD makeup setter and I was out in the rain repeatedly.

@Petunia13 is right, I do have a lot of Kylie lip kits, and I really love them. My favorite long lasting matte is Kat Von D (hands down), but Kylie is a close second.

Fair warning though - you can't return or exchange Kylie kits, so I always look at a billion swatches before I order.

My order was super boring. I just got a backup of Koh Gen Do because I'm going to run out soon. Good cleansers are addictive. Sure, I still get a purple lipstick once in a while but I'm a lot less into getting a lot of things I won't use than I was in college. I think I'll hold off on foundation until the fall sale so I can pick a good one. I don't really wear foundation and especially in summer, I think it'll just melt off or get cakey.

Side note... I came home and I was only wearing concealer and I looked greasy. I saw a girl who was waiting where I was for a couple of hours and she was MADE UP. She looked good but it's a little jarring to see how that heavy contour makeup looks in person on someone who isn't a drag queen.

She was wearing contour?  That's still a thing?  I don't wear foundation-foundation at all.  I'm more into BB/CC creams and tinted moisturizers.  I just don't like all that stuff on my face - it feels really fake.

The way my face is shaped, I don't have prominent cheekbones but I have this defined indentation that casts a shadow even without contour. Except in photos, my face can just photograph flat and round so when I'm putting in the effort, I wear blush and pop in a bit of light contour (more like bronzer, just not orange/golden). But yeah, this girl was made up. She already had a thin face so it's not like she needed to slim it and she didn't have a strong indentation under her cheekbone so there was just these thick swipes going down her cheeks. It was blended so it didn't look like a smudge of dirt but it did look very unnatural. Girl, that's not how shadows work.

I often wonder if girls like that don't have a "get a grip" friend who would tell them when they look ridiculous. At work there is a woman who works for one of our vendors and her eyebrows are INTENSE. It almost looks like she drew them on with a Sharpie and they almost look like a unibrow. Plus, she uses a very pale foundation (although she's not naturally that pale), matte red lipstick and she always has her hair slicked tight into a bun. I sometimes wonder if I would recognize her without all of that.

Maybe she's really sensitive and would be upset if anyone tells her.  Or maybe we've come to the point that we can't be comfortable telling ANYONE they look ridiculous because we're worried we'd offend them - even a BFF or her sister (if she has one).

So anyone have experience with Stilla's magnificent metal glitter and gold liquid eyeshadow I keep looking at the color rose gold retro and the sephora pictures feels really orange. Does anyone have it and is the pic accurate??

Also, I just bought Lineage Lip Sleeping mask. I have a verryy  bad habit of peeling my lips, so hopefully this helps!

I did NOT know this, but you can try on eye shadows, mascara and lipstick virtually using the Sephora app.  It's called Virtual Artist, and the app will suggest colours for you if you have your ColorIQ done.  You can see what the colours look like on you using phone's camera.  This is good for me, since I want to try reds.  I own WAY too many nudes and berries.

Yes. It is more copper than rose or gold. If you want a rosy gold/blush buy the mag metals kitten karma.

Actually, the lash part is for fake lashes.  Which I basically have done, like, THREE TIMES - two pre-wedding trials (with two separate artists) and then again, at my wedding.

Kylie Update:

My order came in last week, and they already pissed me off because one of the lip kits I actually paid for (not one of the free ones) was missing!  So I emailed customer service ASAP and I was asked to send a picture of the items I did receive, which made no sense to me, because I could have easily removed something from the picture if I was unscrupulous.  Anyway, they've finally "decided" that I was missing something from my order and said they are sending a "one-time package replacement", but it will take 7-10 days to process.  <insert eyeroll>

In regards to the product itself.  I tried the Brown Sugar Lip Kit.  I used it both with the lipliner covering my full lip underneath and without.  Although I had to use a separate, darker lipliner to just outline my lips (so I didn't have crack-pipe lips, cause the struggle is real with some of these nudes!), I will say that the lipstick went on well, didn't feather, and was long-lasting.  I even put it through eating some olive-oil covered veggies, and it didn't budge.  I'll be trying the darker color I got, Vixen, to see if it still holds up, especially for the feathering.

Thank you to whoever recommended the Sephora Color IQ thing. I went in yesterday. It took forever to get help. I talked to like 4 people and must have waited around half an hour before getting bored and taking a seat at one of the empty chairs. Finally one of the women I talked to before came back and when she realized I wasn't being helped, she helped me find foundation. She made it a whole process, which wasn't really necessary for me, putting on toner, moisturizer, etc. I think there were like 7 things on the table. But she found a great color match almost instantly (btw, God, I'm pale right now) and it didn't oxidize while it was sitting on my face. Unfortunately, it sat poorly on my skin. You know the look of cracked, parched earth. That's how my skin looked. Great in the mirror but up close, the foundation accentuated all these flakes. I know I have dry skin. I don't exfoliate or moisturize regularly because my skin freaks out. But yeah, I couldn't commit to that foundation if I wouldn't be able to wear it. Sigh... I am going to get a little sample of it in the meantime to see if I have any allergic reaction or breakouts on my chin if I wear it for an extended period of time. I asked her to take it off because all the non-foundation things she put on my face had fragrance and it was starting to burn. Oh, sensitive skin, you create so many problems.

Are you looking for a specific brand?  Otherwise, I would recommend finding something matching your skin tone in an other brand.  Once you enter your ColorIQ into your account, you would be able to view everything Sephora sells which compliments your skin tone.

Question:  Has anyone tried Dior's Lip Tattoo?  It's NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE to get right now.  I went to Sephora, Nordstrom and Holts and most shades were completely SOLD OUT.  I finally found the berry shade I wanted at The Bay...online.  I think...."no colour" showed up when I placed the order, rather than the shade I wanted....We shall see....
