Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode

Roman, Abe, and Chad will teleport to Italy.  They will rush in and Stefano will end up going out the window instead of Marlena.  Roman will suddenly be played by WN again.  Roman and Marlena reunite.  Lexie is found alive and gets back together with Abe.  Chad returns to Salem to be a good Dimera.  At this point, the story goes to hell.  Ben goes evil, Chad saves the boring twit, and Ken Corday declares them the good EJ/Sami.  The Ejami fans burn Corday at the stake.

Now that you mention it, I have to say I'm really glad Serena didn't leave any diamonds behind in Daniel's apartment.  If she had, then the entire town would be convinced he crapped diamonds, along with being the bestest best BEST doctor and boyfriend EVER.

How nice of the writers to finally give Chad and Melanie some scenes right before she's about to leave smh. He should've been trying to get her back instead of wasting time with that nasty animal Abifail.

Chad needs to turn out to be Tony's son.  Stefano needs to die knowing all his children are dead, and that Sami and Abe will never let Theo, Johnny, or Sydney be anything like him.

My my MY, those flashbacks did nobody any favors.  I was surprised that they showed clips from the Excorcist stuff - I thought Show liked to forget about that as much as possible.  My personal favorite was when Stephono was on his knees, sniffing and licking Marlena's legs while he pulled down her stocking - and then passed out.  So many bad jokes, so many even worse observations that could be made.....none of which would be even approaching good taste.  But I'm sure many of my fellow posters had the same thoughts.....

No wonder Marlena's soul mate is Jawn "Smell the Fart" Black.

 

So I guess the way to get Daniel to behave is to treat him like crap, give him a taste of his own medicine.  Although Nicole has been much nicer to him than he was to her.  I have no doubt that if she wasn't pretending to want space, he'd still be dissing her, yelling at her, and generally treating her badly.  Now if she'll only knee him in his diploma as an extra added touch, I'll be happy.   

And I'd also like her to talk dirty to Eric, flash him, show him some porn, anything to make this Aunt Bea imitation pass out from the vapors.  When that neutered goose said "You can always come to me", I was waiting for her jaw to drop the way mine did.  Eric has treated her like the devil practically every time he's seen her for the past I don't know how long, so when did this "You can always come to me" crap supposedly start?   And then this entitled ass has the nerve to say to her "I'm waiting",   Because I guess Nicole is supposed to jump when he speaks because he's such a good man.  

Lord spare Nicole - and us - from any more of Salem's "good" men.  What a bunch of asses.

 

Serena - who cares anymore?  And wardrobe, get her a new dress.

 

Chad, you've been a Dimera for about 15 minutes in dog years.  Drop all the sturm un drang and call yourself the Queen of Rumania for all anybody else cares.  Unless this is about bagging Abigail.  I can see that using the Dimera name might be just the bait that's needed to attract her.  

Maybe to get Abigail in the mood, he can begin their night of muskrat love by showing her that video of his dear old dad sniffing Marlena's legs.  What an aphrodisiac THAT will be.

Soon after Lexie died, they spent about a year teasing it.  When it didn't take with the audience, they went with Maxine.  But with Stephen Nichols on his way back, that is likely doubly impossible.

Don't throw tomatoes at me you guys, but, i kinda understand why Ken Corday hates supercouples.....The show's writing was so good back then and the love stories were written so well, it is hard to imagine Kim with out Shane, Kayla without Steve or Jack without Jennifer,e.t.c...It limits the writing for the characters as individuals, when they are only allowed to only be with one character for life..Look at how Hope was floundering without Bo for years until Aiden came along...I am sure it is partly because the writers are incompetent in developing the characters as individuals.. Marlena had successful parings with Don, Roman and John.

 

 Outside of Marlena, I think the only character that had successful pairings outside of his supercouple status was Bo..He had successful parings with both Carly and Billie..I have always preferred Bo with Carly over Bo and Hope...I loved the way that the writers took their time developing Bo and Carly...They showed respect to the fans of Bo and Hope, but also taking the time to construct their love story in a believable manner. Bo was a widower for a year and was shown grieving for Hope, while struggling to move on for Shawn-Douglas. By the time they became a couple, the Bope fans were fine with Bo moving on with Carly.. I loved their Mayan Wedding in Mexico, where they married themselves..So beautiful and so emotional....It all went to hell with Lawrence, Vivian and Nicholas....Lol...

Oh boes, so right about the flashbacks.  Marlena in her demon Halloween mask with an overbite was just so bad I couldn't believe it.  And don't get me started on how they always zoom in on Fullscreen/TV aspect ratio archive footage to make it widescreen, even though it cuts out pertinent visual information.  Lord I could see the stubble on Marlena's thigh in that one shot!!  TOO CLOSE!!!

Chad's Dimera dilemma is exasperating because it is all self created. Worried about being and becoming an evil Dimera, hows about stop learning at the foot of the master, stop living in his house, working for his companies, plotting with him. Just stop!! If you haven't been paying attention, most of his kids are dead now.

Jeez, most people when hearing about the passing of a 'friends' loved one send flowers or a ham. Well, maybe she did bring ham. soowee

If Molly Burnett could act like that always - without the ticks, cutesy routine, stuttering, thinking she was Lucille Ball Jr., on teen Nick show with a laugh track AND she could be paired with Chad, I would want to keep her on the show. She was perfect yesterday and she had great chemistry with Chad. They look great together too. Her more quiet, subdued performances are always her best. I wish she would learn that. Someone should sit her down, show her this episode and then the ones from a few weeks ago of the "Italian" reveal with Kristen.

Holy high budget Batman. Days used to hire helicopters on their location shoots too? If anything, those flashbacks highlighted how low budget the show has gotten. That demon thing was hilarious! All that stuff was way before when I started watching the show. So am I correct in assuming that Stefano and Marlena never had sex? I wonder why that is if so.

On yesterday's show Chad said that he blackmailed Gabi. That never happened, right? She and Nick blackmailed him into keeping quiet about Mel's kidnapping and the explosion because Chad beat up Nick. Is the show changing character history or did I forget something?

 

I agree that Chad makes his own trouble and that this is a rehashing of his storyline since knowing he was a Dimera.  It feels like the show wanted everyone to know he was conflicted rather than naturally developing such a story over time. Thus far, his actions have been typical Salem.  If he was a true representative of the Dimera family, the Bradys and Hortons would be sketchier families. 

 

His and Melanie's scenes were good yesterday and I enjoyed the scenes between Chad and Kate a few days ago. I like Chad and Kate's relationship. I wish they would develop that dynamic rather than his and Stefano's.

I believe everything that JL does--she looked exhausted lying in that hospital bed and I truly believe that Theresa just came out of surgery. Show, take notes :)

 

I know I love it when Abby is called on her entitlement--why does she care what name Ben has?--and I like it even more when someone throws her DiMera love back in her face, but Ben's kind of emotionally abusive when he does it and it feels like Ollie learned that trick on his Papa's knee.

 

I like how offended Sneasel gets when his "hard-hitting" journalism is called into question--comedy gold :)

Friday's Recap

 

Marlena/Stefano/Chad

We pick up with the thugs trying to throw Mar out of a window. Stefano tells his men to 'Do It' with Mar still pleading for them not to. Stefano says is that how Kristen sounded when she begged for her life. Chad gives him an emergency call which Stefano answers and Mar screams in the background that Stefano is trying to kill her. Chad hears and Stefano says but Chad knows what he's doing and says he will not let Stefano do it. Chad says he can't hurt Mar and Stefano says he will as it's about family. Chad tells Stefano about Kristen trying to kill four people and be careful on using the word family with what he's doing to Mar and trying to justify it.

 

Chad further explains what happened to Italy and how Mar isn't to blame. Stefano tells him that there's nothing he can do to stop him and Chad said physically he can't which Stefano wants to know what that means. Chad says that if he hurts Mar he will no longer be Stefano's son and Stefano doesn't like that he would turn his back on his family. Chad says that he's trying to save what family they have left. Chad runs down the people in the family is dead and how he'll be dead to Stefano and he'll make sure that the whole world knows what Stefano is doing and Chad says he loves Kristen but despises what she did and she's insane which Stefano doesn't agree that she's insane. Chad says that if Stefano does it, he will take down the DiMera name. Stefano says something about a vacation which Chad says that he looks forward to hearing from Stefano and Stefano hangs up the phone.

 

Stefano tells the men to let Mar go. Mar and Stefano are on a plan where Mar calls Roman and tells him she'll be home soon. She tries to talk but Stefano takes the phone and hangs it up. Stefano asks Mar if she remembers the last time they were on a plane together which we flash back to what happened. Mar says that Stefano is doing the right thing and Stefano says no, the right thing is leaving her body on the ground with the coyotes. Mar asks what did Chad say to Stefano which Stefano says that she owes her life to Chad.

 

Chad/Roman/Abe

Chad keeps trying to call Stefano to no avail. Roman enters the house saying he has a search warrant to search the house. Roman and Abe keep telling him to try and call Stefano which Chad says he can't make Stefano answer the phone. Abe and Roman go off to search the house.

 

Roman and Abe arrive and ask Chad if he has any luck getting through to Stefano and he tells them he doesn't know and that he has a meeting and walks out of the room.

 

Ben/Abby/Chad

Abby is looking at her phone at the park when Ben comes up and kisses and tells her he thinks he got an A on the test. He's glad that he got Abby and she surprised by the name change to Ben Weston and if Ben is looking for approval. Abby didn't expect him to change it without talking about it. Ben says he was born a Weston and taking his name back. Ben says when he told her about it she had no objections and is she having doubts now. Abby says she doesn't have objections and Ben wants to know what's going on which Abby flashes back to kissing Chad.

 

Ben doesn't see the big deal in a name change which Abby says it is a big deal. Ben asks would she be embarrassed to be with him if his last name is Weston, which she kind of denies but Ben says she wouldn't be if he changed his name to DiMera. Ben says that didn't come out right and apologizes and Abby doesn't like how he keeps taking cheap shots at her because of her affair with EJ. Abby thinks they should talk later or they'll say something they'll regret which Ben reluctantly accepts and leaves.

 

Abby is on the phone saying she'll be home soon and Chad walks up behind her. Abby knows Chad is upset and Chad says he's tired of being upset and that she was right to stay far away from him as possible. Chad says she deserves better than him and leaves as Ben is overhearing. Abby starts to cry and Ben walks away.

 

Jeremiah/Will

Jeremiah and Will arrive at the diner and Will thanks Jeremiah for the tour of Poplar Bluffs. Jeremiah says Will doesn't know anything about Clyde and that he can't come down to Poplar Bluffs and take pics of the courthouse, which Will says that he will interview Clyde and Jeremiah says that Will has to talk to people. Will says everyone in Poplar Bluffs speaks highly of Clyde and Jeremiah says that people are scared to tell Will the truth. Jeremiah thought journalists are suppose to dig for the truth and not take things at face value and to get the truth about Clyde.

 

Jeremiah says Clyde is an SOB and put Jordan and Ben through hell and how liked to drink and a lot of people paid for it. Jeremiah says that if Will wants to be a writer he tells people who Clyde really is. Jeremiah leaves. Will says he can't and looks at a photo of Sonny and Ari and says he can't. Will is on a phone wanting a flight out of Poplar Bluffs tonight as Jeremiah looks on.

 

Serena/Nicole/Xander

They both shocked to be running into each other as Serena didn't know that Xander had another appointment. Serena says Brady nor Eric will talk to her and Serena threatens to call Eric which Xander interrupts and prevents her from doing so as he wants her to leave. Serena gets a text from Dan wanting to talk and Xander ushers her out of his room and whispers to her to not forget what they discussed.

 

Xander is surprised to see her as she should have called before coming and he says he's not a man that likes surprises in his own charming tone. Nicole has it mentally noted about Xander and surprises. Xander says Nicole doesn't have to worry about Serena. Nicole says Serena threatened to tell Eric that she was there and Xander says she won't. Nicole says she doesn't understand his relationship with Serena which he evades and talks about them and how he saw fireworks between Nicole and Dan at Vic's house. Nicole says it's over with Dan which Xander doesn't believe and says that the two of them don't have anything to say to each other besides goodbye.

 

Nicole says she does still have feelings for Dan but everytime she tries to make it work something happens. She says that things are going to hell with Dan and how she wants to have fun. Xander asks if she wants to have fun and Nicole says she wants to have long talks about feelings and how Xander actually listens to her and she thought that he was nice and goes to leave. Xander tells her stop and says that if things are over with Dan then they can keep it discrete and he can order wine and they can pick up where they left off which Nicole agrees while Xander orders the most expensive bottle of champagne while Nicole eyes Xander's cell phone and inches her hand closer to it.

 

She doesn't get and NIcole wants to know if Serena will keep her mouth shut about them and Xander assures her which Nicole agrees to be discrete as well. Nicole says they don't take pics of each other and put it on their phone as that's how discrete they have to be and Xander says not yet to the photos being taken but indicates that they will in the future. Nicole says how about she takes a photo of Xander on his phone and send to her which Nicole goes to take the picture using Xander's phone but pretends to trip and hurt her knee and needs ice which Xander goes to get. Nicole picks up Xander's cell phone. She flips through it and sees the photo of the elephant and says, "Oh my god."

 

Dan/Mel

Mel arrives home and Dan asked how she's doing and she's great. Dan tells her the marrow transplant is complete and he's going to the hospital and wants Mel to come and she says she can't. Dan wants to know why she can't go and Mel says that the baby is the #1 priority and that Brady and Theresa don't want family hovering around. Dan doesn't think it matters what Theresa wants since she's the reason they have their baby, because Mel is with Brady, and that Brady loves her and Mel knows all this but she said she'll visit later. Dan says his goodbye to Mel and he leaves. 

 

Theresa/Brady/Dan/Mel/

Theresa wakes up in her hospital room with Brady and the baby, they make small talk and Brady tells her he'll do whatever it takes to keep the baby safe. Brady tells her that the transplant went well but the baby will have to stay at the hospital and that Theresa can't do much which she doesn't care as long as the baby is fine. Brady thanks her for doing the procedure and Theresa said she would because she's his mother and tells Brady how she did something for someone else. Theresa knows that Brady would have done the same thing but glad that she's the match for the baby cause she helped someone she loved and it's not a bad feeling. Brady says there's nothing in the world he won't do for the baby. Theresa wants a favor and that's for Brady to stay with her until she's able to physically hold the baby since she's weak.

Brady agrees to stay and says he has to go to the nurses station with questions about the baby. He leaves and runs into Dan and Dan tells Brady that he texted their extended family about the baby and to stay far away so that Brady can spend time with the baby. Mel arrives and Brady is happy to see her as they hug. Dan says he has work to do as he's been distracted last couple of days and leaves. Brady tells Mel that he misses her which she reciprocates and she has a gift for the baby and will give space as she received the text. Brady says that it doesn't apply to her and wants her to see the baby which he takes her in the room.

 

Theresa thanks Mel for coming and happy to see her. Theresa says that she and Brady talked and want Mel to hear something directly from her and Brady. She tells her that if they had a girl they would have named the girl Melanie but Brady says can't saddle a boy with that name and how they've decided to name the baby Tate because it means cheerful and happiness which is what Brady and Theresa are because Mel brought Tate to them and named him in honor of Melanie. Melanie is speechless and Theresa tells her to say hello to Tate. Brady and Theresa exchange looks.

 

Brady and Mel are by the elevators saying their goodbyes as Brady thanks her for being at the hospital. They kiss and Mel gets on the elevator. Brady takes out an engagement ring and smiles. Theresa all covered in a mask and scrubs holding Tate and says that her and Brady won't be separated and whatnot kind of in a scheming tone.

 

Dan/Serena

Dan is in his office and there's a knock which Serena enters. She wants to know if it's about Mel  or Eric and Dan says it's not about them as it's about Xander. Dan says that Serena and Xander weren't really friends at all and Dan sees the look on her face. Serena says that Eric likes Xander more than her as she doesn't dislike Xander. Dan wants to know if there's an issue between her and Xander he wants to know as Xander is more polite now than he was a few years ago. Serena wants to know why Dan is asking her questions about Xander and Dan says he's trying to understand what's going on and Serena says she doesn't wanna talk about it.

 

Serena apologizes as she doesn't like to offer her opinions on other people. Dan just wants to know about Xander and Serena goes to leave but Dan wants to know what is with Xander and Serena tells him to ask Nicole since she's with Xander right now.

Looks like Jeremiah did his job. Seriously he's like the only competent henchman out there. Sneasel is ready to hightail it right on out of there. At first I thought Jeremiah was selling Clyde out but just the opposite, just scaring Sneasel.

 

I got a riddle for y'all, how do you make a Jar Jar look stupid and angry? Answer: Bring up a DiMera. You'll see the stupidest look ever. She was making too much of a big deal out of Mannequin changing his last name to Weston. Looks like she is embarrassed and doesn't want Mannequin to change his name but that isn't her call to make. She'll probably use that as an excuse to jump on Chad's dick.

 

I loved how Chad handled Stephono, there can be promise for him but he has to not love the side piece.

 

Dark Roast is so annoying, he thinks he can just do and ask whatever the hell he pleases. It doesn't matter what Theresa wants because Mel found the baby and Theresa basically has to be in debt to her forever and then pestering Shrewena about Xander. She should have slapped the shit out of Dark Roast and if Dark Roast wants to know so much about Xander, then he can talk to Xander.

So if Theresa went through the procedure to give bone marrow, I assume the baby got her bone marrow since Dan was violating all kinda of HIPPA by texting everyone about how mother and son were doing. So, wouldn't that baby be in NICU after receiving bone marrow and attached to, ooh I don't know, IV's, heart monitors and such, after an operation, and not just sitting up in a bassinette attached to nothing, monitored by no one in Theresa's hospital room like that? That just seems really stupid and such an easy fix on the show's part.

I think I may be over Xander. He is still fine but the show has so killed my boner. And it was the littlest thing that did it too. When he started talking about skulking around and keeping it a secret so no one would know, love was dead. I wanted Nicole to have a MAN. Someone who gave no fucks. Hell, rub Daniel's nose in it. It is one thing to crave Victor's approval, it is another to be cowardly and I can't countenance cowardice, especially when the object of it is frigging Daniel. No Sir. Hiding out in a hotel so Daniel will never know. There is just nothing attractive about that.

How long do I have to suffer through that damn Chad and Abby flashback?

Are they combing Kate Mansi's hair with pork chops? Why is it so greasy and lank?

I just love it when Abby's former Dimera indiscretion is flung back in her face.

Why is Jeremiah playing up Clyde's bad side to Will? I love that he's calling Will's job performance into question. Is Will running away scared?

Sami is the only one in Salem who would call her out, maybe her and Carrie can come back to Salem and just verbally insult Jar Jar until she melts into a puddle of shit. Chad usually calls her out but he loves her so him calling her out is null and void.

Sami would be made out to be the bad guy again if she said anything about the boring twit.  Carrie would probably take Slappy's side over Sami's just so Ken Corday and the writers could once again hammer home the Sami = bad, no matter what the circumstances, nonsense they love so much.  

 

It would be hilarious if Sami had a one night stand with Chad, and after that Chad told Jar Jar, "I had Sami.  No one else will ever compare.  I'm going to California to be with her and the childre if she'll have me."

 

Sadly, I expect Chad's resolve to stand up to Stefano to last for all of two seconds.  Chad is going to be wasted on Stefano and Slappy.  Chad will be stuck in this boring SL until he dies.

Shadowsixx, thank you for the awesome updates!  I'm not able to watch until the evening, but your updates let me know what to watch and what to roll my eyes at and skip.

 

Abigail continues to be a fine human being. She pushed Ben to reconcile with Clyde and now she's hesitant that Ben wants to change his name? It wasn't until Abigail told him to give Clyde a chance that Ben reluctantly got to know him. On top of that, one of the main reasons Abigail wanted Ben to buddy up to Clyde was for money.  

I don't think that Abigail is being seduced or manipulated by Chad. She's seeking him out any chance she gets.  If anything, she manipulates him to tell her whats going on.

I think the writers are trying to torpedo her at this point. I don't think she has any redeemable qualities. The only person she doesn't annoy me with is Sonny and even then I feel like she needs to mind her own. 

 

Daniel continues to disgust me.  Theresa is (little man) Tate's mother. Her feelings do matter.  If this was Melanie's baby, Daniel and Maggie would be barring Brady's girlfriend from entering the hospital and would continually talk about the importance of parents bonding with their child. It scares me that Daniel may be considered, by the writers, as a moral center of the show.

On yesterday's show Chad said that he blackmailed Gabi. That never happened, right? She and Nick blackmailed him into keeping quiet about Mel's kidnapping and the explosion because Chad beat up Nick. Is the show changing character history or did I forget something?

Chad actually blackmailed Gabi first, immediately after he found out about her part in Melanie's kidnapping.  He tried to make sure she stayed out of her life and force her to withdraw from being in her wedding, and even made her give up her modeling job with Sami and Kate.  It wasn't till Melanie found out about Chad beating Nick to a pulp that Gabi told Melanie about the beating, confessed her part in the kidnapping to her, and Melanie subsequently realized from Chad's jumpiness that he'd known about the whole thing and had tried to control the whole situation.  That was all that had led up to their breakup.  After that, Chad went into a tailspin and was about to turn Gabi in to the cops for her part in the kidnapping.  But that was when Nick blackmailed him over his beating.

Whoa! Thank you, Donny Ketchum. I completely missed that - don't know if I blocked it out or I missed some shows.  The storyline makes much more sense.

I know I won't get the SL I want for Sami when she returns, but this is what I would love to see.  Sami returns to Salem with a new man she met in California.  The pathetic side piece gets all judgmental about it because she is a raging hypocrite.  Sami reminds the boring twit about how she chased after Sami's fiancée begging for sex, and Sami's plays a video of the conference room scene for everyone to see.  Chad tells Jar Jar he doesn't want to have anything to do with anyone who doesn't care if his nephew and nieces (Johnny, Sydney, and Allie) get hurt.

 

I wish Theresa and Nicole would band together to tell Dirty Dan to back off, or drop dead.  I'm fine with either.

I'm fine with the Theresa/Brady/Melanie/Tate story. At least it has legs.  I feel the same about Chad/Abi/Mannequin. 

Here's what bothers me -- the Marlena/Stefano story. Why, in her two days with Stefano (never mind her time with the Italian authorities) does Marlena never describe her role in Kristen's death as self-defense?

Am I wrong in thinking that Kristen had a frigging gun aimed at Mar, and was ready to pull the trigger, when Mar began to struggle with her, and that is when Kristen *fell* out the window? I swear to the hourglass, that's what I remember, but I'm starting to doubt myself, because of Marlena's stilted, and yet mainly unspoken dialogue. I can't remember her once accurately describing the encounter with Kristen, so it's making me doubt myself. Anyone?
