Ratings And Scheduling: I Can't Do This Alone

No need to panic SPN is still super solid for the CW--still might be 2nd to Flash this week.  The show will continue as long as the boys want it too.

The ratings for most shows are down right now.  It's the typical Spring drop.

O/T except to say I'm really glad SPN doesn't have to go up against Roseanne. It killed in the ratings, nearly double the next highest rated show of the night, and more than triple pretty much anything else. I've read that it didn't lose any viewers in any segment, and improved in some. 18 million viewers. Crazy!

So what do we expect from tomorrow night guys? I would say if we don't hit a 0.7 then it will be a letdown. Given all the publicity and the money they spent on this animation it has to do pretty awesome.

I’m guessing 0.7 maybe 0.8 at a push. With all the promo I’m expecting it to be up from the recent 0.5 - 0.6 but I don’t think the change will be overly dramatic.

If I wasn't such a freaking SPN addict, I would probably skip the episode, TBH. I'm pretty disappointed with what's been spoiled thus far.

Although Opening Day is tomorrow for my team, so maybe I'll just watch it on DVR. Hard to say right now

Yeah, well, I was over the show before it was over last time so I'm actually shocked 1 it came back and 2 it did that well but different strokes . . .

I totally get that. I'm DVR'ing it but am not sure when or if I'll actually watch it. I have a choir concert to go to tomorrow night.

I suspect we’ll get the usual .6.  Yes there has been publicity but it’s all been free.  I think SPN fans will watch, no one new.

I wonder if the CW was waiting for Roseanne to drop. I don’t know if it has a 23 episode season for 2018-2019 but it’s a force to be reckoned with for the CW schedule.

I think we'll pick up some viewers just for the nostalgia and out-of-the-box factor, but it's spring and ratings don't usually pick back up until the final few episodes. So, I'm also guessing a 0.6 with a slight up tick of viewers. I think the DVR and social media numbers will be really good, though.

BTW, I'm excited for the episode. I'm ready for a lighthearted and fun break, myself.

Will be interesting with the ratings--we did get more publicity but this is still a tough week with shows just returning and spring break is going on still in some places.  So could we get a .7, maybe.  At least hope the pub keeps all the negative factors from pushing us below .6.  I have no idea anywhere from .5 to .7 possible.

It's going to be a highly rated episode.  My guess is point .8 and like 2.5 mil viewers.  There were so many tweeters last night and people have been looking forward to the episode the whole year.

As I predicted we got a boost, but nothing overly dramatic! Hopefully the boost this week will remain enough to help us get more 0.6s and 0.7s this season :)

Good job @bozodegama. You nailed the 8!

Thank you, it was just a guess.  But i do think the total viewership will be revised upwards.  2 mil seems a little low to me unless a lot of people were celebrating holidays or spring break.  Usually, if you get a .8 isn't the total viewership higher?  I don't really know about tv ratings.  But ill bet the social media numbers will be through the roof.

It got a 0.7 for the main demo, which was what I actually guessed ;)

Yeah I know but  I was still congratulating bozo on the guess it's not a competition. Or is it?

As quarks noted elsewhere it's the total viewership that means more than the main demo these days.

I think social media is going to be a huge factor and I'm guessing the Live+7 will be pretty significant as well.

I looked back a bit and the premiere was an 0.7 and 2.1m viewers. So if we adjust up a skosh it would top of the season?

Which would be unprecedented for March, I suspect.  We've had some February episodes go big.  We've had finales come roaring back.  But March is like the dead month.  People are rediscovering the outdoors post daylight savings, March Madness, and Spring Break.  All should depress the numbers.

On another topic, the CW did some spring reshuffling.  https://tvline.com/2018/03/30/originals-season-5-premiere-date-change-wednesdays/ I think it is these kind of issues that are driving for a late announcement.  It also makes sense that they want the loyal "The Originals" crowd on Wednesday night now that Roseanne is a juggernaut.

Plus, I just realized that Major league Baseball started yesterday so that may have cut into the ratings

Do you think they'll take #ScoobyNatural into account?

I don't know.  There was some confusion about which hashtag to use though.  I am really not sure if #ScoobyNatural will count or not.  I hope so.

Maybe, but don't worry, Supernatural will be renewed.  They could also be trying to figure out what they want to follow Supernatural.  Obviously Arrow as the follow up hasn't been working too well, it's been losing about 400,000 viewers from Supernatural.

Considering it’s downward spiral (its now getting 0.4s regularly and has achieved syndication decreasing the need to keep it on) maybe the CW are trying to decide if they want to renew Arrow or not.

I'm pretty sure all the Arrowverse shows will be renewed.

I expect so too to be honest. I’m just wondering if the above factors have made them less eager to jump straight to renewal than they have been previously.

I don't think Arrow's rating woes are the schedule. It's some not great SL this season IMO. But that's just me

Wow!  We killed everyone else.  Those numbers!!!!

They must've counted ScoobyNatural then - I never saw Supernatural trending at all, but ScoobyNatural stayed #1 through the 9:00 eastern hour, and I've never seen that before.

It looks like we are pre-empted this week.  My CW feed comes from New York and its showing a Yankee's game.

That's going to effect our ratings because New York is the number one market.

I wonder if they are planning a 2 hour finale again? Because there are 7 episodes remaining and 7 Thursdays from now til May 17th (the announced finale date). SPN airs on Space Channel here so there is never a conflict with sports and it is not showing a new episode listed for this week, either. Hmmm.

Okay, never mind. That's weird. It is listed on the Superstation (West Coast feed) for Thursday.
