Zuzu? really? what kind of name is this?
Zuzu could be the name of a small dog. Or the name of a Moulin Rouge dancer.
Not the  name of evil "AI".
Zuzu? I mean.. common!

So the liar has gone? that was a bit dull. I don't think he is a villain, probably does something in parallel that he can't talk about.
Nah, who I am trying to kid, of course he can be a serial killer. Or Zuzu.

Oh and I can't say I like the songwriter dude.. boring.

This show has generally been ridiculous but now evil AI?  Come on show, stick with what you know (and that's being kind).

Of course Bailey was the paramedic to bring the three girls in.

Lying boot is gone but who actually believes we've seen the last of him.

Celina getting the raccoon in the cage while Texas was locked in the car was par for the course and of course Tim turning it into a teaching moment.

So now we've got an ex lying boot and an international, evil AI as potential set-ups for the season finale.  Not looking forward to that.

{soto voice} I mostly liked this episode.

Well. Yeah. A lot of editing and retakes and better directing would’ve made it better. But not if they were going for campy.
Except some of it was serious drama.

I actually felt sorry for Smitty.

Was Nathan Fillion deliberately breaking the 4th wall by doing an almost laughable job of acting mad at Celina’s bf?

And Is Celina’s bf supposed to be based on this guy? youtube.com/@martinkerrmusic

Pazuzu is an actual demonic god's name, so I assume that's where it came from. I was hoping it'd be a person masquerading as an AI.

That’s what I immediately thought of when I heard that name. I remembered The Simpsons using the reference in one of the Treehouse of Horror episodes, the one where Maggie is a demon child ala The Omen. The name also made me think of Zuul from Ghostbusters.

The evil AI made me (and my parents) laugh. Like, what the hell was that.

Also, lying rookie is gone! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

At least we got confirmation that he had cancer in the past?

Also, there's a much better excuse he could have used instead of "oh, insurance issues" - he could have just said that she was a pediatric oncologist and he had to transition to an adult oncologist, since ped oncs usually stop following someone at 21 (unless they've been in survivorship longer than 5 years, then they get discharged earlier).

Also, the raccoon needs a medal of valor for its actions in this episode.

Did we? The expression on the face of the doctor who recognized Seth seemed like she was trying to think of a way around HIPAA to say he never really had cancer.

According to Google AI (not Zuzu?) raccoons have not been genetically domesticated through breeding to make good pets (they bite), and California is not one of the states where it is legal to have raccoons as pets.
But Tim’s “That raccoon saved my life” implies to me that we’ve not seen the last of Rocky.

Zuzu (really???) asking him if Bailey liked her watch.

Zuzu, Bailey... I hope this wasn't even vaguely related to It's a Wonderful Life, to bring Bailey back into the story after she dropped off those kids and pretend the writers were clever to reference something else. (And I really don't like that movie.)

Edit to add: Please, please don't let someone like Monica represent Seth Ridley in that lawsuit he threatened. I know she was linked to Elijah but I could see them doing something annoying like this.

I think we did - the doctor said "I'm sorry to hear that" in response to him saying his cancer came back, along with something like "Why didn't you come in to see me?"

Which to me sounded like he had cancer.

Monica is an wanted international criminal now, doubt very much she'll surface in LA doing legal work, and it's too late in the season to bring in any new villians.

I can  totally see this show having fibber as Zuzu .  His storyline ended way too fast.

I sure hope you’re wrong, but they did have him suddenly turn angry.

I would prefer Compulsive Liar Rookie decides to solve the Zuzu case to prove his value, gets suspected of being Zuzu, and dies a hero in the process.
His former doctor can turn out to be a psychiatrist.

That I can also see on this show.  Very creative.

It could mean that.
Another possibility is she was treating him for hypochondria.

True, but if she were treating him for hypochondria, wouldn't the response have been something more like, "Come and schedule an appointment with me so we can talk about it."

but tbh I am viewing thing from a cancer patient perspective and not from the perspective of a writers room that is watching 80s cop movies and having a bad trip that is making them come up with this evil machine learning plot (I am so happy that they actually called the "AI" what it is - a machine learning model! Five points for The Rookie writers!)

Same for me, and now that you mention it, perhaps that is also the perspective of at least one of the writers, whether first person or as a close relative or friend of a cancer patient? Like: Maybe the writer(s) now realizes how poorly portrayed are most fictional cancer patients, and so decided to write a pinocchio-lying patient and have them seem as [not]sick as typical fictional cancer patients appear on TV?

I do like that they didn't have him start to look like a stereotypical TV cancer patient. They didn't even have him shave his head or anything!

If they were in part trying to ridicule TV cancer patient depictions, it seems they would have gone for him shaving his head but not his eyebrows. But I guess that annoying detail would be lost on most viewers, so, yeah, better to steer clear of the whole poorly depicted charade.

Wasn't there an obituary in the past year for someone who worked on the show?

I must have zoned out or something during the episode because I was surprised at the meeting with the rookie at the end of the episode. What brought that on?

Officer Chin ran into his old doctor and with her reactions to Officer Ridley gave her further evidence that he was lying and officially pushed up her concerns to LT Grey. Something Nolan hasn't done since he has only had one Boot rookie, he doesn't use "Boot". They treat it like hazing and not LAPD tradition as it was presented in the first season.

Thanks. I guess I need to go back and watch it again. 😁

I'd like one depiction of chemo on TV where someone loses their hair to have a running nose from the lack of nose hair.

Personally, my treatments haven't caused hair loss - but that sounds like one of the worst side effects from hair loss.

I am unsure about the obit - I know that Annie Wersching (who played the serial killer woman) died in 2023.

Well I thoroughly enjoyed this ep. I find it very easy to suspend my cynicism during this show because it's just so silly. Singing annoying boyfriend, wandering raccoon, evil AI, murderous little girls, fighting prisoners! Nice to have a fun episode with Smitty having more screen time than usual. And I too felt bad for him. He not only got his head bashed in but the raccoon ate six? Nine? of his 13 doughnuts! The horror!
