  1. The only thing I could think of watching Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is wondering if he wanted a new rug? That's the only reason he agreed to appear in Airplane!, he wanted a $35,000 rug.
  2. I listen to the Delta Flyers podcast with Robert Duncan McNeill and Garrett Wang. The newest episode has two new co-hosts, Terry Farrell and Armin Shimerman. They've started a recap and review of DS9 since they completed Voyager earlier this year. I like the addition of Farrell and Shimerman, they fit nicely into the format and they're interesting to listen to. And, this way Wang and McNeill can continue the podcast...
  3. A YouTuber I watch, Emily D. Baker, covered a Colin/Cuthbert caterpillar cake lawsuit between Marks & Spencer and Aldi. I recommend her video which is how I knew about the caterpillar cakes. She entertains with their snarky tweets, social media, and online articles since she doesn't have the court documents to read.
  4. Yes, I giggled with the cast at Prue saying, "So Nicky, tell us about your beaver." Paul's expression as he turned away was hilarious. Yes, my favorite line of the episode and I had to rewind a few times to watch it again.
  5. From the article: "Hijacks don’t really happen, and this is entertainment, right? We’re stretching the credibility of reality." What does Kousetta mean, hijacks don't really happen? Even leaving out 9/11 which he referenced with the United 93 movie, what is this guy smoking? I love the Canadian tv series Mayday (also called Air Crash Investigation, among other titles for this show), and they've had episodes about hijackings. The most memorable episode about a hijacking I remember from Mayday was one that took place in Africa, and the pilot was so close to a successful water landing. (Ethiopian Air 961, Season 2, episode 13.) I don't know how ATC works in the UK, but in the US, another episode of Mayday had an interview with Patrick Harten, the controller who worked with US Airways 1549, where Sullenberger and Skiles landed on the Hudson River. (Season 10, episode 5.) I think Harten said when they took him off his position, he went to the union office and had to recount his version of events. Even after he was told everyone survived, he said he was still traumatized. Yet, this character runs off to deal with her kid. How does she make any money, missing this much work, let alone keeping her job?
  6. Since Ralph Garman's not hosting, I'm not watching. I watched the originals because of him, after he talked about it on Hollywood Babble On, when the third season was about to air. Hope the people who do watch like it, but it doesn't sound like it's for me.
  7. All I remembered (before your comment) was that Chen and Bradford were dumb for not going for the legs. Well, I don't watch it for an intricate plot or well crafted characters, just take it as the mindless fluff it is.
  8. I hope they're not trying to set up Ross, Hannah's other love interest in the books. Based on the books, I think Hannah should pick Norman. Even their cats, Moishe and Cuddles, are best friends! Based on the movies, I see why she chose Mike, until she didn't in this movie. Hannah is a moron in the books, too, so I'm not surprised. If they're just trying to keep stress on Hannah and Mike's relationship, this isn't the mature way to do it. It's been a few years since I read Carrot Cake Murder, but I don't think this was the plot of it. Just looked it up, and this murder was Lisa's (Hannah's business partner) long lost relative at her family reunion, but I don't remember much beyond that plot description since there's over 20 of them. They're not very good and the newest books are recipes (and I want to strangle someone every time the phrase "impeccably clean hands" comes up in them) and cooking/testing with the small detours into a murder mystery. I think I keep reading hoping for an interesting recipe, like the fudge cupcakes (Book: Fudge Cupcake Murder/Movie: A Deadly Recipe.) I think the earlier movies were closer to the spirit, and plots, of the book series. The newer ones don't feel as "cozy." I'm not getting as much of the small town feel.
  9. Don't overlook your library. Mine has all 11 seasons on DVD.
  10. Sometimes it's easy to keep the certification on the license, but I don't know the rules in Illinois. My dad was a mechanic and had a CDL. He kept it even after he was no longer working at a concrete plant, just in case he needed to test drive something like the cement trucks again. I don't think he ever did, but he could have and it didn't cost extra to keep current. If the writers thought it through (which I doubt), that may have been their rationale to have Jackie still able to drive the truck.
  11. So, the neighbor is kinda like Mrs. Figg the cat lady from Harry Potter. Didn't enjoy this. I hope it gets better because these actors have none of the charm of the movie actors, and I'm not a huge fan of some of them either. Helen in the movie is mousy but when pushed shows strength; this Helen is brittle all the way through. This Harry seems like a bad salesman, not a spy pretending to be a salesman. I'll give it a few more episodes, and hope it's just a mediocre pilot and not a mediocre show. It was nice to see Beverly D'Angelo as the boss, though.
  12. The way they were chanting, "Pee Wee! Pee Wee!" reminded me of when Paul Rubens was caught in the ...theater. Later that year I was at the local Renaissance Festival and the comedian at the show we were attending told us every time a man walked by with his hands in his pants pockets, we should chant, "Pee Wee! Pee Wee!" and see if he took his hands out of his pockets. Chanting for Sheldon sounded just like it did at the Ren Fest.
  13. In the podcasts when they talk about changes like making Sam deaf and the mycelium network, Druckmann says he wishes he'd known or thought about those things for the games. Mazin and Druckmann seem to be enthusiastic making the story work and expand for the translation to tv so it's really enjoyable to listen to the podcasts.
  14. That's one thing it appears Diana and the Queen have in common. They're both more into their husbands than the husbands are to them.
  15. I don't know why they didn't crack open the computer and either take or destroy the hard drive. Quicker, easier and it can't be recovered. Did she really wipe the hard drive that quickly? Of course he'd have back ups. I wonder where else the other backups are stored?
