Just watching TV and a commercial came on for St. Jude's that had me an emotional wreck.  I know they get a lot of their funding through donations but I am hoping they don't rely on the Federal govt for much, if anything.  Because if Booby Kennedy gets his fingers on them I will just lose it.

St. Jude's is a research hospital. They rely upon grant money to fund their research, and without grant money there will be no new studies. They probably will be able to use their donations to continue treating already established patients and maybe some new patients whose diagnoses fit their current criteria.

A part of me wonders if Bobby, Jr. will try to strong arm St. Jude's into studying his brand of pseudo-science in exchange for continued NIH funds to study childhood cancers.

I want to know what happens now that Trump (and the president of El Salvador) is openly and proudly defying a 9-0 Supreme Court order. There truly is nothing the GOP will impeach him for, is there?

George Conway and others are openly referring to CECOT as a concentration camp that no one ever leaves alive. Unbelievable that our most fundamental right to due process is being trampled underfoot with scarcely a whimper from major, generally reliable news sources and dead silence from congressional Republicans. If the courts are rendered powerless to enforce due process then I just don't think we could be any more fucked.

Bobby Jr has already done irreparable damage to children

The entire HHS staff working on childhood lead exposure and cancer clusters has been fired. Approximately 200 scientists researchers and trackers that work on such issues as asthma lead poisoning and cancer clusters were cut

Last week the CDC rejected a request from health officials in Milwaukee WI for help with a lead poisoning investigation in public schools

Jr has eliminated the HHS response team

Speaking of governors who are about on their way out, my state's governor has announced she won't be seeking another term after her current one ends.

Speaking of Florida universities, this seems very Gestapo-esque.

Multiple Florida universities look to deputize campus police to expand immigration enforcement

https://nypost.com/2025/04/13/us-news/multiple-florida-universities-look-to-deputize-campus-police-to-expand-immigration-enforcement/

Campus police departments at at least three public universities in Florida are moving to strike a deal with the federal government in hopes of deputizing their officers to carry out immigration enforcement.

Across the US in recent weeks, federal officials have revoked visas from international students for infractions ranging from accusations of domestic terrorism to speeding tickets as part of President Trump’s crackdown on immigration.

Schools in Florida are now trying to employ a new tactic to widen immigration officials’ reach and abilities on college campuses.

So far, Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, the University of Florida in Gainesville and the University of South Florida in Tampa are seeking to deputize their campus police specifically for immigration enforcement, representatives for the schools told The Associated Press.

His "anti-woke" wish list is finally coming true - he's always wanted militias to order around. Personally, I think he's still upset because the former UF president Ben Sasse was ousted (BYE!), citing his wife's health but was actually caught in a $1.3 million spending scandal lol. It was reported that he had tripled his office’s spending — a majority of which was for lucrative consulting contracts and high-paid, remote positions for GOP allies. NO ONE liked him and DeSantis refused to get involved to audit him properly. It's almost as if the community doesn't want white supremacist hypocrites running their institutions?

Yet here he is announcing a DOGE agency to root out the very thing he covers up for his buddies. It makes ZERO sense because he's already signed state budgets for FL agencies this year. He just wants to look like he's doing something (aka wasting time and money on foolishness). "Diversity" is all it takes to trigger them these days.

This is a few days old. It is not being widely reported and the numbers are relatively small, but this is NOT an unimportant story.

Hundreds of Students at Military Base Schools Walk Out to Protest Trump Administration’s Anti-Diversity Policies

https://www.military.com/daily-news/2025/04/10/were-going-fight-what-we-believe-military-kids-protest-diversity-crackdown-base-schools-worldwide.html?ref=cawshinythings.com

The protests happened despite a warning from defense officials and school principals that participating in widespread school walkouts could mean unexcused absences, detention and restrictions on sports participation.

"The message that we're trying to send is pretty much that we're here and we're going to fight for what we believe in, especially when it comes to our education and whatnot, because our education is the basis of our future," Payton, a 10th grader at Lakenheath High School in England who helped organize the walkouts, told Military.com in a phone interview.

"Our parents are actively fighting for our country for us to be able to have these rights," added Payton, who asked to be identified only by his first name out of fear of retaliation.

Payton said he was aware of at least 503 students at 10 schools in Europe, Asia and Virginia who participated in the walkouts. Students at four more schools were expected to participate as well, but he had not gotten a report from them as of Thursday afternoon.

Imagine they were voting NDP (far left).....I bet it would have stolen even MORE!  Many, many years ago (i.e. before I was old enough to vote).  I usually only see one sign, but recall many years ago, a neighbour had TWO (is that even possible?).  My friend's mom was for one party and her dad, another.  They were still together after the election.

I have an online friend who had a cupboard full of signs, because hers kept getting stolen. I think she was living in Kansas, at the time. She ended up trying things like covering them in vaseline.

Is there any use for Dems to file papers?

I've just seen something on threads, that Democrats have launched Operation "Anti-King" to impeach him, and remove him from office. If he's impeached, he'll be arrested immediately, for his contempt of court alone (SCOTUS).

Watching The Daily Show. Watching a Presidential Cabinet shamelessly fawn. Please understand that “shamelessly fawn” is not the term I’d wish to use.

It is frustrating to feel so much anger, yet have no way to fully get it out of my system.

I want comeuppance for him, for his enablers, for his minions, for those that put him into power he has never been suited for. And the sad thing? I feel that still wouldn’t be enough.

As luck would have it, I’ve been through that procedure. If Trump’s aides find a way to sedate him before he undergoes the prep, I wouldn’t blame them. That is not a fun way to spend a day.

I’ve had numerous colonoscopies and the prep involves drinking a barrel full of the liquid prep so wouldn't  be possible for them to sedate him. .i do see  one of his minions having it for him.   What’s interesting it is as general guidelines that colonoscopies are not  done after 75 years of age.  Wonder if he has something going on or he never had one at 45 for a baseline.  One of my male best friends  has never had one and he’s about 66  and I always act shocked that he hasn’t had one.  His husband is about 5 years older and I  think I took him for one. At the moment there is nothing to challenge when it comes to his immunity. When it comes in to play, I am sure that there will be a lawsuit.

Well over a hundred lawsuits have been filed against the Trump administration so far. Nearly every move they make is resulting in at least one lawsuit.

I thought I read in that WH doctor disclosure that he supposedly had a colonoscopy before this and had a polyp removed. So maybe that's why he's getting another one past age 75?

ETA:

Here's a quote on that from Time Magazine:

Quote

Dr. Barbabella also shared that the President had undergone a colonoscopy in the summer of 2024, during which it was revealed that he had a benign polyp and diverticulitis, which is inflammation in the pockets of the colon. A follow-up colonoscopy was recommended in three years time. Trump's medical history also includes a past COVID-19 infection.

From BBC News 4/14/25.

The Trump administration has said it is freezing more than $2bn in federal funds for Harvard University, hours after the elite college publicly rejected a list of demands from the White House.

"Harvard's statement today reinforces the troubling entitlement mindset that is endemic in our nation's most prestigious universities and colleges," the Department of Education said in a statement.

The White House sent a list of demands to Harvard last week that it said were designed to fight antisemitism on campus, including changes to its governance, hiring practices and admissions procedures.

Harvard strongly rejected the demands on Monday and said the White House was trying to "control" its community.

Someone has to say no. Hopefully harvard has enough alumni who agree to fight this, if necessary.

Re Bill Maher. I used to love him, would not miss when he guested on the opinion shows, talk shows, etc. But now?

It is not because I am a Progressive. It is because I have watched him since he started out. His political observations were astute and deadly funny. And he was an equal opportunity offender. To me, his transformation started during Covid. His distaste and distrust for vaccines started my simmering. Then he went after obese people. The diatribes against "wokeness". When people like me began to tune out ... he decided to go full-on Libertarian. That is dishonest. What he has morphed into is a mean-spirited weasel. He will keep his job on CNN; because - since he has moved to the Right - they are afraid to cancel him. They will be accused of bias. His ratings have fallen quite a bit. He depends on CNN to give him a platform.

I don't know why CNN is so afraid of being accused of bias when no one at Fox News cares. Can you explain that to me? I feel like since the pandemic CNN has bent themselves over backwards to look "fair and unbiased". With all that's been going on lately, isn't it time to take off the gloves? Although I do have to say that shows like Abby Phillips' manage to present people with both points of view but the Democrats have been shredding the Republicans lately, and it's been fun to watch. Pass the popcorn!

CNN is corporately owned. Currently Warner Brothers Discovery owns it. So two things are happening.  One they want to make money so they don't want to upset advertisers or do something to cause a boycott.  And two there is any number of things that Warner Brothers Discovery might need help with politically.  So they don't want to piss off the current regime, more specifically Trump.

CNN probably figures that airing HIGFY satisfies the Liberal quota.  Similarly, HBO probably feels that LWT w/ John Oliver does the same there.  Both are Warner Brothers Discovery properties.

If you look back through history those who held that much power didn't usually have things turn out well for them.  Hitler was a coward and took the easy way out when on the verge of being defeated.  Mussolini was shot and then hung up and stoned.  Saddam Hussein was hanged.  And those that survived usually end up in exile. If not in a different country then in seclusion.  Trump is not going to be remembered fondly.  If he were to die today a lot of people would be dancing in the streets.  If  he dies a year from now more people will be dancing in the streets.
