The current occupant of the Oval Office, at his inauguration: “My life was saved for a reason. I was saved by God to make America great again.”

After surviving a mere two months of 47's bottomless pit of bullshit, I'm thinking God needs to come up with a better plan or we need a better God.

What I heard at the GOP Convention: "God saved Donald Trump for a reason!" Me at the time: "Yeah, to get his clock cleaned by Kamala."

My belief of a higher power is shaky in general. I remember a video centered on the poem "God Sent a Dictator." If this is a divine test, America is failing miserably. But I don't think there is a God. If there is such a being, it might not be benevolent.

How much does the Christian Right hate liberals if they go to bed with someone who is NOT down with their agenda? With Pence, I figured that he thought Trump would get bored, rage-quit or keel over, then he could go The Handmaid's Tale on the nation. As he saw the gallows on that cold January afternoon, I wonder if he thought that his dreams meant dick.

Pence wanted to be president, apparently, and saw this as a stepping stone or maybe as close as he would get. I don’t know what Vance thinks, but he clearly has less respect for law and democracy.

To start today on a fun note. The creators of "Cats on a Couch" have a new video that features penguins. It is in response to the tariffs Trump imposed on their island (no actual humans live on it).   They are dancing (the routine is fabulous).  A poster suggested that it is about time the deadbeat penguins paid their fair share. 😍 One of the best parts? They are using the same song! Yessss.

Last night I was watching the news and an economist was on talking about the tariffs, more specifically how they think that Trump arrived at the numbers he was using.

I knew it didn't really make any sense but I guess what I didn't realize was just how, frankly, embarrassing this is.

The US is home to some of the brightest people in the world, institutions of learning that are to be envied,  in short access to the best available resources in almost any subject you can imagine.

And this is what the White House came up with?

Embarrassing.

It's a calculation based on trade deficit. Has nothing to do with tariffs.

A friend who has a degree in and teaches economics, and who is not liberal at all, describe it as laughable and sophomoric at best.

And as the economist I was watching pointed out, how on earth are the countries being targeted supposed to respond to this?   It makes the US look incredibly pathetically stupid but these countries still have to figure out a plan going forward based on absolute gibberish.

FWIW,

While I do believe that folks can and HAVE been saved by God, if that's the case, then that means that one is supposed to 'come to Jesus' be contrite then  renounce one's previous hatreds, greed, cultism, sins, lusts, depravities, cruelties, etc. to become compassionate, humble, empathetic, positive, etc.

If anything #45 appears to have doubled if not quadrupled down on his un-Christian characteristics since that evident attempt in Pennsylvania. Hence,  though I don't claim to speak for the Almighty, I can't imagine He [upper case 'h']has a positive view of someone deliberately has done all he [lower case 'h'] to have tried to destroy others' talents and squandered his own for selfish and destructive purposes instead of trying to multiply them for selfless and positive purposes as per His Teachings!

And I don't think He is happy with those behaving as Pharisees while following false prophets!

The " imperfect vessel" crap Christan maga peddles to excuse 47's "appetites" is infuriating. As is the notion that 47 serves or even acknowledges a higher power. The only god in his world is the one he sees in the gaudy golden mirror.

"We cannot serve God and mammon".  MAGA Christians seem  to conveniently forget that.  A lot.

Matthew 24:4-14 sums that up rather succinctly:

"And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows."

“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come."

For fun yesterday I tuned into Bloomberg after the market closed. One of the hosts seemed quite perky and I found that weird. Her cohost was more serious. Hell the Dow dropped another 2000 points

First up a financial guy of sorts that with a no big deal attitude “the market will adjust in 30 45 90 days”. Which is it?

The next guest was a business owner who looked scared. Frankly he had nothing positive to say or look forward to

The third guest was another financial guy who made it clear this is a total mess. The female host pointed to Nike and Lululemon closing up yesterday because their goods are manufactured in Viet Nam and they were on the phone begging Trump to make a deal with them. Yeah great financial guy said but any moron knows that Nike shoes an Lululemon leggings aren’t what fuels the economy

It’s probably true that the average person doesn’t own stock but they have a pension or a 401k that’s being gutted by a narcissist who thinks and his base thinks this is why God put him on earth

Some people aren’t going to be able to recoup their lost savings simply because of their age and the years they have left to work but many won’t be able to retire

If the House and Senate republicans pass his massive budget (tax)bill that passed the Senate last night (with two republicans joining the democrats to vote no) so many people are going to be hurting. They have already caused so much damage to America by dismantling agencies, demanding loyalty from universities and law firms snatching students off the streets turning America’s back on people in need like Myanmar oh well that’s what they say they voted for

Although the main focus here is an actual celeb, I'm putting this here because it could be applied to other followers.

I'm going to be careful here and stick with the known facts as best as possible but this has bothered me for some time and I need to get this out.

OK, I've NEVER been impressed by Billy Ray Cyrus and believe that if sincerity was napalm, he's never had enough to ignite a birthday candle.

Anyway,  with that said, even though his daughter Miley definitely has had her faults  and issues(even as an adult), I  recall her saying for public record that #45 reminded her of a . . .'molesting uncle'.

I know that Mr. Cyrus appears to be estranged from Miss Cyrus for the last few years. However, even that circumstance,  I can't see any positive justification for a parent to actually want to  vote for much less perform for someone whom their offspring considers in that light even if said politician personally promised them the moon on a silver platter.

Unless Mr. Cyrus does a MAJOR public and sincere mea culpa for having done  that (to say nothing of however much he contributed to his offspring's issues), I have no sympathy or use for him!

I imagine whoever posted this on FB is trying to get a reaction, I certainly won't be responding there.  But honestly, I do know there are people out there, Maple MAGA included who do think that Canadians are boycotting US products out of spite.  Because they can't even begin to grasp that we are furious!

To describe what is happening in Canada, and for that matter many other parts of the world, as petty just shows you how out of touch the Trumpians are with reality.

I saw a post from some Musk rat defending Trump by saying these tariffs will force people to buy American and that will mean Tesla will boom again.  Sigh.  I really don't think the average American who could not afford a Tesla last week is going to be able to afford one next week just because the cost of other cars may rise.

Plus car parts come from all over the world.

The boycott is gaining popularity big time in Europe as well. It's nice to see how united people are.

It’s not just products that will cost more it’s also the fact that he’s gutting tourism  which effects the airlines hotels restaurants and big theme parks etc Those are jobs but who cares just collateral damage

He doesn’t care how much damage he’s done to the US how much damage he’s done and will continue to do to Americans but he probably gets some psycho thrill from the damage to the global economy

The one thing that that will hopefully drive him crazy is that he’ll never be able to bully China or Putin

It makes me sad everyday when I read how things like Alzheimer’s research has been shutdown. Nice future for seniors and Gen Z and Millennials that might have to care for their parents one day

BTW measles outbreak is now over 400 cases. Jr doesn’t have time for that he’s busy crashing and burning HHS

If you’re looking for some good news today

The White House released this statement

“The president has won his second round matchup of the Senior Club Championship today in Jupiter FL and advances to the championship tomorrow “

More than 1200 protests across the US today in opposition to Trump

Is it possible for him to lose? Imagine the shock through the senior golf world.  I mean, really.

Mr Clueless isn’t interested in what’s going on around him or maybe he’s throwing ketchup at the walls

There are thousands of people protesting him. The economy is in an out of control fire. But at least he’s winning his club’s championship

The man who told us he was a stable genius has his White House staff bragging about his golf achievements while people lives are being turned upside down

I'd settle for his opponent giving him an iron behind the knees. Then he'd set off a smoke bomb (disguised as a common golf ball) and flee into the woods.

This is assuming there's actually an opponent, of course.

If he loses it would be to a very bad person who does bad things. Horrible things. The fans told him he should have won and the officials told him he was the better golfer but the other player just did bad things to keep him from winning.  There were some late shots added at the last minute or he would have won.  The other golfer shouldn't have even been in the tournament really they're barely a member of the club. There will be trump fans at the clubhouse to peacefully break things so that the true winner is declared.

I'm loving all of the videos and livestreams from the protests today. I really wish I'd been able to get to one. I've seen a few people compare it to the women's march in 2017, and that was such a good day.

My cousin just posted photos from the protest down at the mall in DC. The signs are great!! I can't go because of back issues so I enjoy experiencing these protests via her many photos.

Typical Trumpers. Always with the guns.
