chitowngirl October 18 Share October 18 When Bobbie inherits her late father's tavern, Happy's Place, she's shocked to learn that she also has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew existed. Link to comment
Browncoat October 19 Share October 19 Hm. Seems like Reba and Melissa Peterman have pretty much the same dynamic they did in "Reba." I'll give it a couple more episodes, but I'm not totally sold yet. 5 Link to comment
Snow Apple October 19 Share October 19 Seems like a harmless sitcom to have in the background but I kept thinking it's Reba Hart and Barbara Jean working in a bar since they act like those characters. 6 1 Link to comment
Ms Lark October 19 Share October 19 Reba redux. Same characters, basically. Bobbie could probably contest the will. 2 Link to comment
WhitneyWhit October 19 Share October 19 Isabella seems very Barbara Jean-esque in her inability to understand why her presence made things awkward. It’s harmless fun on a Friday night but I was kind of confused on some things like why Isabella thought there would be pictures of her or drawings when no one knew of her existence? And are we to assume Bobbie’s dad was cheating on her mom with Isabella’s mom and that’s why she was kept a secret? 3 1 Link to comment
txhorns79 October 19 Share October 19 The actress playing Isabella was not good. I can't believe she really was the best person to audition for the part, but perhaps she can grow into the role. I am a little confused as to the ages of everyone. How much older is Bobbie supposed to be than her half-sister? I know in real life, Reba is nearly 45 years older, which plays to me more like grandmother and grandchild than sisters. 2 Link to comment

Daff October 19 Share October 19 Yes, they made a joke about that. I’m looking forward to the inevitable “generational” differences that will arise concerning the running of the bar. 2 Link to comment

I believe she did say she never knew he existed. Which to me is so weird. Why ignore your daughter your entire life and then force her on her sister when you're no longer around? I hope he at least gave her mom money while she was growing up. 3 Link to comment
jmonique October 19 Share October 19 (edited) I'm halfway through: Was Isabella a secret because she was kept in a bubble for her entire life? What makes her think 20 minutes into learning she has a sister and is part-owner of a bar at 24 or WTFever that she should get to change everything? I know they have 20 minutes or so to set everything up in a pilot, but this is going extra hard and awkward. "I was hoping to find a place where I belonged." An hour after these people first met you? Dimity October 19 Share October 19 I forgot this was on and only caught the last 15 minutes or so and was very confused! I see from the comments though that I probably still would have been confused if I'd caught the whole show. I will give it a chance, pilots are often rocky, but it certainly hasn't grabbed me so far. BTW does anyone know who played the cook? He looked really familiar to me but I didn't see a name on IMDB that rang a bell! Link to comment

Browncoat October 19 Share October 19 Did they say what happened with Reba's mother? Presumably, she's not alive? I've decided Dakota is the New!Van -- same kind of ditzy, but with less personality. 1 Link to comment
JAYJAY1979 October 19 Share October 19 The actress that played Isabella is the weak link. I knew she would be since she was one of the leads in the inferior Hocus Pocus sequel...and she wasn't good in it. 6 Link to comment
emma675 October 19 Share October 19 Wow, I hated the Isabella character so much I won't make an effort to watch this again. I get that this was all a surprise for her, but immediately forcing herself, her ideas, and trying to force a relationship with a grieving woman whose entire life with her late father is now irrevocably changed is ridiculous. Reba was a lot more patient and welcoming than I would have been. 6 Link to comment
seacliffsal October 19 Share October 19 I think they should have just rebooted the show 'Reba' as it seems like they're going for the same dynamics. Could adjust storylines to reflect the passage of time. I agree with others that the Isabella character is not a good fit-there isn't any nuance to the character. Will give it a couple of more episodes. Always liked the interplay between Reba and Barbara Jean on Reba so am hoping Reba and Melissa Peterman still have good interactions as their new characters. 5 Link to comment

MollyMelrose October 20 Share October 20 (edited) Thought Melissa Peterman's character was toned down enough not to give off complete Barbara Jean vibes, but the Bobbie character even dressed like Reba Hart - like they shared the same closet. Thought it was entertaining enough, especially for Friday night vapid viewing. Mostly I spent the 30 minutes wishing RM, MP, and RL were still part of the Young Sheldon universe and that that sequel focused on the talent trove found in their middle aged/geezer contingent. seacliffsal October 22 Share October 22 (edited) I don't get the whole keeping the second daughter a secret. It seems that Reba's (whatever her character name is in this show) mom died before her father who had just recently passed. Why wouldn't he have mentioned her once his wife died? He 'loved' her enough to include her in his will, why wouldn't he have mentioned her before then? It seems like a cheap writing trick to introduce her like this. It also didn't make a lot of sense that the dad had one of the second daughter's drawings on his wall and that Reba didn't realize it wasn't one of her own (and that it was put on the wall well after Reba was no longer a child). Agree that she should not be immediately trying to take over the bar (and how can a small bar afford a full-time accountant?) and she should certainly not be trying to analyze everyone. Who does she think she is-Fraser or Niles Crane? Plus, we know they held actual degrees... Edited October 22 by seacliffsal 2 Link to comment

I think it was behind one of Reba's drawings. They didn't notice it until it fell, and the drawing came loose. Then they saw what was behind it. I *think* Link to comment

cottoncandy November 8 Share November 8 I can't find any proof, but I get the vibe that this started out as a Reba revival centered around Reba and Barbra-Jean and evolved into this "secret half-sister" story. I want to like this because I loved Reba and I enjoyed Malibu Country, but the story is just a little weird so far. I think it would make more sense if the half-sister wasn't secret but estranged with the dad's death binging them back together. I guess since it's a sitcom they don't want to spend too much time fleshing out the story, but it feels rushed that Reba Bobbie just accepts the whole situation in like 20 minutes. It's okay, I'll keep watching because I really like Reba and Melissa. Their characters very much feel like Reba and Barbra-Jean again, but I like that. 1 Link to comment
