possibilities October 26 Share October 26 I caught up on yesterday's and today's episodes today, and was just coming over to say I liked Dan's earrings. I love earrings and frequently have earring envy while watching tv. NBC cut off 10 minutes of the game today, because they thought we all needed to know immediately about Israel bombing Iran. I found the missed clues at the archive, but it's not the same as watching, especially now that everyone jumps around the board. I find it hard to remember which clues I missed so wound up playing the whole thing over. I got Arbus yesterday, even though the photo was of her at a much younger age than the ones I remember seeing. She had very distinct facial structure. I also credited myself for the TS of "lark". I knew it was a lark, and I don't know if they would have asked me to be more specific. If so, I am not sure I would have guessed the correct kind of lark, so maybe I shouldn't consider it correct. I also knew "embedded" (missed Daily Double). I'm pissed off at the show because of a discrimination case filed against them that I read about in the Race and Ethicity thread. I will try to post the link in the J Media thread, in case anyone else wants to know about it. 3 Link to comment

Thank you for that! I went back and looked at the 10/21 game, that's the one with the Lose a Letter category. Ken said that each response would be two words and then the $400 clue was called third and Marcus only gave a one word answer. I know it's easy to forget things in the heat of the moment but I'm still kind of surprised that the 'two word response needed' was forgotten so quickly. 1 Link to comment

Driad October 27 Share October 27 When there is a DD, they make the clue smaller so they can show the contestant. That's OK except they make the clue much smaller than necessary, so I can't read it. There is enough space next to the contestant to make the clue large enough to read, so I wish they would do that. 3 1 Link to comment
Bastet October 27 Share October 27 When I "play" via the archive, I always use the numbers to go in the order the clues were chosen; it would be an advantage to go category by category, top to bottom, one that would probably lead to my archive games would often be better than my regular games. While watching, I have to remember the category as they jump around. Also, because they don't go in order, sometimes they miss out on the flow of a category that would have made the higher-valued clues easier had they worked their way down from the top to see it. So if I read the clues from top to bottom, I'll see a pattern that I wouldn't have seen had I been watching the game. So I always play the clues in the order they did, and give myself only a short time to answer, to make it comparable to watching. (If I didn't keep track of my performance, I probably wouldn't bother replicating game conditions, but since I'm on what is apparently a fruitless quest for a perfect game, I do keep track.) 3 1 Link to comment

Bastet October 28 Share October 28 Archive game for me, since I'll be watching football tonight. I cannot believe April, June, and November was a TS! I say that in my head all the time rather than looking at a calendar. I ran DEL, advertising, and nicknames, and almost ran phrases, but said "... without the rain" instead of "... without a little rain". I missed two each in history (they both had pictures, but seeing them wouldn't have helped) and Arthurs, so a good first round. This is shocking, I know, but I blew the mythology category entirely. Other than that, I did great in DJ; I ran medical, caution, and words (fun category), got all but awesome sauce in exclamations, and missed two in Canada. I initially only got as far as "the club in Cabaret" for FJ, but it came to me in time. And now "Willkommen" is stuck in my head. 6 1 Link to comment
Katy M October 28 Share October 28 I didn't know FJ. I got the entire categories of Books & Arthurs World History and Medical right. I guess I didn't get any missed clues. I've had worse nights. Actually had I gotten FJ, it would have been fine. 2 Link to comment

Bit better in DJ…ran Caution and Compound Words, missed one in Medical Matters, two in Extreme Canada and Mythological Resumes, and three in Exclamations. I got FJ! TSes: (J had 3 (all in the same category); DJ had 3 + both DDs) I got April, June & November; Isis; terra incognita (DD); Arctic Ocean (DD). 1 1 Link to comment

30 Helens October 29 Share October 29 I think "the club in Cabaret" should count. And no, it's not because that's what I said. (Yes, it is.) Bastet October 29 Share October 29 For those just now learning the clues are numbered on the archive according to how they were selected by contestants on the show: Did you never notice the numbers in the upper right of each clue, or you did but didn't think about what they might represent? When I first discovered the archive however many years ago, I saw the numbers right away but was mildly confused and ignored them. It took a ridiculously long time - several months - for me to realize, oh, there are 30 per round, that's what it means. Embarrassing! So I'm curious how many others, if any, noticed the numbers but didn't make the connection, compared to those who just never noticed the numbers in the first place. Link to comment

MrAtoz October 29 Share October 29 I found out about the numbers at J-Archive quite some time ago, but before then, I had never even noticed they were there. Somebody told me you could follow the order of clues by following the numbers. My reaction was "What numbers? There are no numbers." In my defense, they are very tiny numbers. I did get the "Thirty days hath September..." rhyme, but here's my hot take. That rhyme is useless as memory aid. It requires you to already know the thing you're trying to remember in order to get it right. If you get the months wrong, there's nothing to tell you that you're wrong. Consider this: Thirty days hath September/May, July, and December. That scans perfectly, and rhymes perfectly. But it's wrong. The only way you can know it's wrong is if you already know what the months are supposed to be. And if you already know that, why are you reciting this little poem? 2 1 1 Link to comment

ams1001 October 29 Share October 29 October 29: 67% / 52% / 60% In J I ran Fast Food (I don't even eat at any of those places), missed one in Singing, two in Alaskan Cities, Reality & Competition TV (I could picture Holey Moley but couldn't think of the name), and No Shake, and three in The Machine's Broken. In DJ I missed one in Historic Women and "A" in Psychology, two in Join Up, three in Drama and Prefixes, and four in Movie Outlaws. My extremely rusty high school Spanish got me my second FJ of the week! Bastet October 30 Share October 30 I was a bit surprised no one guessed baseball as the sport for a story titled "Fences" ("Swing for the fences", anyone?) and more so that no one guessed Jay Leno for a comedian really into cars. OMG, I had a dreadful first round. I was absolutely terrible in singing, only coming up with Gregorian. I figured reality TV would be just as bad, but I "only" missed three. Same with fast food -- dreaded it, but correctly guessed on all but two.
