Given the title of the episode, I guess our hopes for a more appropriately-behaving crew seem dashed.

Like a shell-shocked viewer who, after the last couple of episodes, thought the franchise might be renamed to “Bordello Deck”, these comments are in order to the scenes broadcast in Ep 8.

So what do you do to follow the episode where crew get sacked for being sex predators?  Yeah, that’s right – have your next guests be porn people.  It really is “Bordello Deck”.  Down Under, Up Yours, and everywhere in between.

If Aesha hates Jo-owie then you know this is not going to end well.  For anyone.

Once again we have an obligatory beach setup, which really tells me that these packages are pre-sold to “guests” rather than actually solicited by them.  If I were to hire an expensive yacht for a couple of days or so, you couldn’t pry me off of it unless you cried “ICEBERG!  DEAD AHEAD!”  

At the dinner:  Guest 1:  “It’s like an orgasm in my mouth.”  Guest 2: “Isn’t that where they usually happen?”  Keep it classy, Bravo.

Then we’re treated to sex sounds in the guest cabins, and Aesha and Jason shooting whipped cream into their mouths?  Yep, nothing but class.  Less.

The less said about brunch, the better.

“When Harry met Margot”.  Very cute.  But I’m not looking forward to Harry getting his heart broke.

As they’re discussing the new stew coming aboard, the whole “bottled lime juice” thing must have really affected Aesha because she mentioned it again.  I just think Aesha has missed the point entirely about the whole lime juice thing – it’s not about whether your guests can tell the difference between bottled and fresh squeezed – it’s about the standard you set for 5 star service and whether you’re willing to accept the difference. 

What will happen next week?  Will the tender kill someone?  Will “Entertainment Officer” Culver kill Ja-wow in his rivalry with Tzarina?  Will Harry meet Margot for evening drinks?  Stay tuned, if you can stay on an even keel…

I think having Joao return to the franchise is going to bring some drama.  Hopefully, his behavior has improved. Now that he is a captain on other yachts, he may want to think of his reputation and act accordingly.

Ugh. So it sounds like Joao is still an ass. What are the odds that Tzarina knows him too? And that he screwed over her best friend? I guess pretty good odds on the latter but still, talk about a small world. 

As I recall, Joao had an inexplicable issue with Aesha that I think most people chalked up to misogyny at the time. He had a similar issue with Hannah the season before that. But Aesha defended a drunken Travis after he slapped Anastasia on the face, whereas Joao stood up to him. Aesha was banging Jack who hated Joao so Aesha was simply on the "anti-Joao" train because of Jack. She actually did not come off very well in that moment.

Totally inappropriate for Culver and Harry to join the guests and play around in the ocean, although totally in character for Culver.

The deckhands really do seem like a disorganized, uncoordinated bunch. I'm totally down for a Culver versus Joao showdown.

Culver was actually pissed that he wasn't allowed to be CEO and play more with the porn people.

That he had to actually work, or do the tasks Joao gave him after he saw that they were playing with the porn guests on the beach.

Then the deckies accuse Joao of just giving orders and not working himself.

Was it this episode or the next one where Jamie arrived?  The guys were all over her.  The women all noted she was hot and Margot was pissed about it.

Joao's not wrong about the deck hands being disorganized and kind of inept...

The tender docking was.  Pretty awful.  Even WITH Captain Jason there to help. They also seemed confused on what to do on deck. 

The editors juxtaposed Joao actually working while the deck hands complained about him not working. 

Joao is no longer sober.  He had quit drinking after season 4 Med.  I think he was better off being sober.  I don't mind Joao, but I dislike Jezabob.

Poor Harry.  Margot's just not into him.  I'm now annoyed with her because she can't bring herself to tell him that.

Poor Tzarina.  I thought Culver actually was into her.  And the in comes Jamiie.  And with Jamie...Adam gained a personality that isn't surly!

Yes, Joao had an inexplicable issue with Aesha at times. Out of nowhere, he called her a prostitute and that she was dressing and acting like a whore, and Aesha justifiably so, took issue with him talking to her like that. He was totally out of line. He was way worse to Hannah throughout the season before, even a little violent towards her when he broke a wine glass towards her face. 😲  He's awful. I hope he's matured with age, but I'm not hopeful.

The Harry Margo thing is just not fun to watch. You can tell that Margo is just not attracted to Harry but gave it a shot. Harry, really and truly has no game and forgive me for saying this but this in turn creates some creepy  moments. Harry has some truly goofy characteristics AND facial expressions and although most of the time it comes off as such, sometimes his awkwardness and trying so hard comes off as pretty cringy.

I know everyone is rooting for Harry and all but I feel bad for Margo because its a lose lose. Women really do not have the option of just being friends with a man. At the very least a woman is obligated to give the romantic aspect a shot especially if its an "aw shucks" type of dude like Harry. You can tell from DAY ONE Margo had no interest or attractiveness to Harry but because Harry's a sweet, nice guy she's obviously going to interact well with him. Have fun, be friendly, etc. etc. but because he likes her she has to then make all these decisions on how to proceed instead of, you know, just being a regular person enjoying the company of the people around her. The fact that immediate decisions and declaration have to be made in this day and age when first meeting and getting to know people is a very depressing and dismal way to go about life.

Now Margo risks the backlash of "hurting" Harry whom she's known all of a few days and gave in to be nice only to dig herself deeper into the "but she led him on" narrative. 

Lose, Lose. 

PS- as sweet and nice as Harry seems I'm still not a fan of the whole Luke is gone "my turn" mentality. Not for nothing it really is a burden to have to "let a guy down nicely". If a women isn't accepting your advances that should be all you need. If a women is politely rebuking you, that's all you should need. If a woman enjoys your company and interacts with you fondly but boundaries creep up during that interaction that should be enough as well. It sucks to have to go to someone like Harry and tell him "Take a hint I'm not into you". People act like us women like kicking puppies or something and as practical as it may seem to be direct and straight forward it isn't that simple. How about grown ups assess the interactions, read body language better and stop letting what you want it to be  cloud the messages that have already been sent throughout your time you've spent together.

But they made it so much a thing, with them filming the morning hugs and so forth.

Then them individually talking to other crew members about their "date."

Not to mention all the talking heads, with her prompted probably to talk about how "good" it would be for her to date nice guy instead of the types she's used to dating.

Then setting up the whole place on deck, which probably involves letting the camera crew set up while they do their date.

Can they really feel spontaneous under those conditions?  When the camera is filming their convo becomes stilted and Margot says there was no flow.

Then a kiss, maybe she felt she had to kiss them for the cameras.  If that was the case, no wonder she didn't feel it was "electric" or as Aesha put it, there was no tingle.

She may indeed not be interested in him romantically but when they have to put on a show for a camera, maybe there's no chance at all.

 

The hookups are a lot easier when they're out and they've had some drinks.  Just steal a kiss like Luke did or just start making out like Culver and Jaime did, don't even think about it that long.  Those are more spontaneous, with alcohol as lubricant.

You can absolutely see that she and Harry have zero interpersonal chemistry, literally no spark. Most of it is because Harry's a weird dude, I can't put my finger on why. If I can see it, then believe me, as someone who's definitely been friend zoned, so can he. He needs someone to explain it to him, and it sucks that it's going to have to be Margot, probably by making out with someone else. 

Thumbs up to your whole post though, I am sure it isn't as easy to do from a female perspective as it feels from the man's perspective. It's not as ruthless as all that. But you can save everyone all that awkwardness by just reading the room.

I'm the type of woman who really likes "nice guys," but I have to say, Harry gives me weird vibes. It's like he would never be able to give sexy vibes, ever. He seems to not be good at all at reading body language, knowing when "the time is right," etc.

People often say so-and-so "has no game" like that's a bad thing. Personally? I wouldn't be attracted to anyone who "had game." To me, someone who has "game" sounds like someone who's a player, is not serious about a relationship, is literally just playing games. At best, it's someone who is good at picking up and hooking up and does it a lot. That's not something I'd be looking for but that's just me. Luke "had game." Is that an admirable quality?

Harry is goofy and awkward. Possibly a little dim, I don't know him well enough. I don't see anything creepy about him though.

Yeah, both of them are a little awkward as it is. Having to perform for a camera crew must make them ten times more self-conscious.

Thanks Bravo for killing the mood.  At least he has proven one thing once and ass, always an ass.  Why would Bravo do that to  Aesha?  He was a disgusting pig to her.  I guess I will just read the posts on the episodes going forward here instead of watching.  Not with him being on the show.

He's there for the drama. The show knew there would be friction between him and Aesha.

SO MUCH TRUTH.  I don't watch porn (I know, right?), but I couldn't help but notice that they all walked around with their asses thrust out in a weird way, and not just the gay guy.  Is that a thing?  Is it supposed to be sexy?  That look is just so anti-sexy to me.

That said, they really did seem like the nicest people.  It's just their job, after all.

Oh my Christ.  That is not good news about Joao.  And I agree that this deck crew is a total clusterfuck.  C'mon, guys.  You do the same damn thing every single day.  Why are you constantly wandering around the deck like toddlers, clueless, day after day, like it's your first time there and you don't know where the bathrooms are?  Pick up a cloth and start polishing or spray the deck and start cleaning.  Jesus.  After watching all of these BD shows, I could do your damn jobs.

I was thinking the other night that, as we get more and more people who are more interested in developing an online profile than on actually working on a yacht, that the quality of service overall has definitely gone down.

I remember in an earlier season that, at the suggestion of a deckhand, that the deck crew would drop all the fenders at once. It's a little thing, but it's the kind of thing that says "attention to detail" to both the people on the boat and on shore. We also used to see deckhands always walking around with a cloth and wiping down the railings. Inside, we used to see coordinated service -- with all the plates being placed on the table at the same time, for example. 

The things I've mentioned are just little things, but they're the kind of things that make the experience special. Of course, I'm aware that many of the guests they're getting now wouldn't know 5-star service from sit-down service at Cracker Barrel, but still . . . if you want to attract people to the super-yachting experience, show them what makes chartering a super yacht special, because leaving the yacht to sit on a deserted beach ain't gonna do it.

I think João is a cool name, and it's common in Portugal and Brazil.  It's simply their version of the name John.  YMMV and I don't mean to be antagonistic.

I couldn't find his rank on this show either, not even on the Bravo website.  Weird.

Joao is the second officer. We met the first officer and the engineer in the first episode. They're actual yachties, so we'll likely never see them again.
