Sloan's brother is so weird. Weird casting choice. He could never be referenced again and that would be fine.

Hot take: I initially liked tough-as-nails Wendy when she first appeared, but now that she's dressing like MM's Abigail and being fought over by the boys, I can only ask...is she really that sexy? Cause she seems bland as hell.

Agree with both of your observations, DisneyBoy.  Sloan's brother seems like he was made with the extra parts left over after Frankenstein's monster was created, and what parts they couldn't find were filled in with Play-dough.  He may be a good actor but he's not a good soap actor.  Lookswise, I can't see any relationship between him and Sloan, though I can imagine him as someone confined to an attic in an old british horror film.

I liked Wendy at first, but she's terrible as the creamy nougat center of this shit sandwich of a threesome, Johnny, her and Tripp.  She and Tripp are about as sexy as an episode of Fraggle Rock, and Johnny has become more of a model for high end Dad jeans.  Not a good look for any of them.

And Tripp, enough with the post shower towel displays.  It's like looking at altar boy porn.

Quote

Does Wendy even have any kind of relationship with Gabi? Like...did they even chat much in the past?

Wendy and Gabi had some faux personal conversations, where Wendy praised Gabi's "determination" and Gabi gave her advice on how to bag Johnny.  That's about it, as far as I remember.

Wendy and Gabi had a nice little friendship going. I liked it. There weren't many scenes, there never are for friendships, but they were good scenes. I'm glad Wendy will be at the engagement party. I'm very over her in this love triangle but I still wanna like her so I need her to do something else.

I loved the Sloan/Colin scenes. I just really like Sloan and I think the actress had really improved into something special. I think her and the Colin actor have good sibling chem as well.

I am really enjoying the Leo/Gwen/Dmitri trio. Very fun scenes.

Xander and Chloe are so sparkly. Such a shame I'm gonna lose them in favor of the played-out Xander/Sarah relationship.

I skipped the Nicole/Eric scenes. I couldn't possibly care less about those two, together or separately tbh.

So I have been catching up at my cousin’s.

Funny how none of the cops notice that Whitley King looks a bit like Paulina. Same hairstyle. She seems to be a good citizen and not a criminal. Theo 1.0 will crack at some point. She is not paying him enough and too bad she is blackmailing him for his relative’s meds.

Is forensics going to see that the blood at the pier does not make sense? I watch too many crime shows. The divers should have found the submarine Rolf used.

Tripp and Wendy are dull.

Sloan, your dress was way too short for a court date. Seriously, do you want to be tied to a kid?

Talia got lucky to just get a slap on the wrist. Wonder if the state college of physicians will undertake action against her.

I like Nicole’s new hair. At least she and Chloe could exchange their Xander thoughts.

Gwen, Leo is right about Prince con/von Butcher. I was also surprised at the use of a real body part name and not a euphemism. I would be a tad suspicious of a stranger asking to marry me that fast.

Harris is not as bright as he thinks he is and Li got lucky. I was hoping for hand mixer session 2.0.

Xander and Chloe: "We're equally pretty! Let's bang! Sure, we're both in love with other people and everyone thinks this is a horrible idea but...who cares? Let's go for it!"

Ok, Nicole sobbing over losing Abe and Eric looking at her like that, understandingly..... 🥺🥺🥺 is getting me all choked up...

Aaaaand now they're back to arguing over Sloan. Guys. Get it together.

Glad AZ isn't suddenly baby bumped, the way they abruptly tend to pad actresses in these storylines.

Anyone else happy to see her with long hair again? It's been like....10 years.

Sloan's brother is so weird. Weird casting choice. He could never be referenced again and that would be fine.

Sloan has really surprised me, acting-wise.

Dimitri and Leo are stupid and not entertaining. I cannot root for them.

Why is he suddenly "Matty"? And why is hyper-suspicious Gwen suddenly into this random marriage?

(I'll bet that newspaper website they're running is basically never updated.)

Chloe, girl, you need to chill. And those panties!! 😲 You just happened to be wearing those?? LOL

Ok....Count Chocula was kinda funny.

Why doesn't Leo attend this party?

Does Wendy even have any kind of relationship with Gabi? Like...did they even chat much in the past?

Yes in the last Beyond Salem they talked and Gabi was involved with her brother Li at that point. Gabi supported her having two dates in Tripp and Joey for that Gala in Hong Kong. She also thought Li and her father should take her seriously beyond being a tech nerd.

I was surprised at how much I liked Gabi in the Beyond Salem series considering what a shrill cartoon she's become. She actually seemed human in those scenes they should've fleshed that relationship out more.

Random thoughts:

Gwen is an idiot falling for this love bombing.
Tired of the Wendy/Tripp/Johnny nonsense. Boring. Put Johnny with Chanel.
Eric is the daddy anvils everywhere. Of course.
I miss how Sloan used to be. I knew they’d ruin her.

Extremely unpopular opinion… I like Leo. (*ducks*)

Ha! But you know who he actually reminds me of? Chase! The hair, the face....he's like a British Chase, which obviously doesn't help.

She is creamy isn't she? As if the hardened version of her was put into a microwave and melted into gooey nothingness.

I can't begin to comprehend why these two boys are fighting over her, or more accurately, allowing her to get away with committing to neither of them...where's their self esteem?

Tripp, dude, you've been second fiddle how many times now!? With Allie, Claire, Ciara, Hayley...and now Wendy too...? Aren't you sick of never being The Guy?

And Johnny, as heir to a fortune, should maybe be more concerned that his Dad has seemingly vanished than playing ice cream date with the least convincing object of his affection ever.

Funnier that the hospital doesn't have basic security cameras after Hayley was murdered in the stairwell....!

The writers have already forgotten she's a doctor.

Does it help that her brother called out the bad writing she's getting? "You're going to have a baby to hold onto a man?" was more direct plot-shaming than I was expecting.

Every time we hear someone say "Eric's always wanted to be a father", my mind goes immediately to that Seinfeld episode where George pretended to be a marine biologist.  Then I think of how many times George pretended to be an architect because he'd always wanted to be one but was too lazy to learn.

I don't think humor is what the writers are going for here??

Did you all catch that scene - yesterday, I think, with Eric and Sloane in bed when Eric started mansplaining to Sloane how being a father, committing to raising a child was a serious responsibility and needed to be taken seriously, and all I could think of "Holly?  Remember Holly, you righteous dick?"

I was waiting for Eric to finish up his latest lecture with the disclaimer that this was true in all cases EXCEPT if someone needed you to go to Africa and not come back for two years.  Other than that, fatherhood was an non-negotiable responsibility.  Bonehead.

Eric should give up on the fatherhood gig and do the marine biologist thing instead.

Don't know about anyone else, but I was somewhat put off by Wendy literally leaving a date with one man and going on a date with another - especially since she was going from a pretty heavy make-out session.  It would be one thing if Tripp, Johnny and Wendy were all dating around and just waiting to see who they hit it off with the most - you know if you like someone enough to be exclusive - but they just had both guys standing there while Wendy played most in demand princess ever and Tripp and Johnny did everything except pee on her to mark their territory.  This whole triangle just seems skeevy to me.

This times a billion.  I don't believe Sloan actually wants a child.  And, as an aside, I REALLY don't need to see that flashback of Sloan submitting her own DNA for the 537th time.  I actually caught it the first time.

He's basically the James Marsden of the show, lol. Although I really have to disagree here, because they seem to be pushing Wendy as leaning towards Tripp.

I'm not complaining. I just pretend Tripp's a cute little frat boy leaving the showers after an intramural ultimate frisbee game.

He fills them out really, really well. Carson Boatman should model for Wrangler jeans, in all honesty.

Really enjoying Chloe and Xander. It's so clearly "fun for right now", and I like seeing them having fun together. Chloe's life is usually so depressing.

Cosigning this...but hey, at least it's not Chanel tonguing and banging both of Sami's twins. That was skeevy AF.

But yeah...Wendy was heading to bed with Tripp and then just transferred that energy over to Johnny, which was gross. Again, Tripp you deserve much, much better.

I do...cause I missed it all the other times. It's flat-out a different take from what they aired first too, because the first time she actually leaned over towards Eric. Now they're acting like she didn't.

At first I thought it felt weird that Johnny doesn't seem to care EJ is not around but Johnny is an adult, they're not super close, and it's been 1 day (maybe 2?) so I don't think it's strange that he doesn't think anything of it.

They do have security cameras. Eli told someone (maybe Theo) that they didn't pick up Abe leaving and said that Whitley, as a nurse there, would know how to avoid the cameras.

She just wheeled him into the elevator LOL. That's hardly crafty or sly. There should be cameras there.

So wait....they know it was Whitley now?

....

Li is awkward. He's not good at acting suspicious. He just sounded constipated. He's  better at being happy and slightly mischievous.

If I never hear "Gwennie" and "Matty" call each other that again, I'll be happy.

It's nice seeing Kristen in the wine cellar after what she did to Sarah. Rot away! And don't talk about starving cause that predated your abduction.

EJ though...dude...you can't use your strength to bust out? They've been in there for days and tried nothing?

They're building some decent tension for once with this party. Though the plotting is rather twisted up.

Why is Rolf so eager to help Megan drug EJ and Kristen after they've been the ones paying him for 20 years? Megan isn't richer than them...and he's in theory more loyal to EJ and Kristen, right? Is this weird to anyone else?

The layout of The Bistro appears to have changed again. Wasn't the entrance on the right before? This is the same place "Princess Gina" pushed Jennifer off the balcony?

There are dumb Xmas decorations everywhere.

"Do I smell fish...?" Wow - that's really nasty, Ron. And Leo's going "WTF, OMG" like a text message? Who wrote this charming dialogue?

Bottom line - few actors these days manage to pull off the 'feinging ignorance' thing well. Eileen, you are still the undisputed master.

Thoughts on this week:

I just don't give a crap about Abe, Paulina, Talia, Chanel and either Theo. I am grateful Paulina's wailing home coming was off screen

Wendy is so effing bland. Why are two guys fighting over her? And both Tripp and Johnny bore me too. Maybe I'm too old for this plot but the playing two guys thing (in front of each other) just turns me off.

Nicole is so ready to ditch EJ in a hot minute for Eric. She will feel guilty once she finds out where he's been but we are trudging inevitably towards Ericole round #33522. I hope Sloane and EJ hook up when that happens. I like them and I'm sure I'd like them together

Megan is a hoot. Good old fashioned over the top soap villain. Loved her fake shock when Harris came in. Enjoyed Chad a lot at the party too, especially his reaction to being "introduced" to Gwen. Speaking of she is dumb and Leo is right. I'm not minding him of late. Speaking of late he's probably just too late to get any info out of EJ and Kristen

Stephanie and BenAlex are still pointless

Enjoyed Kristen being tied up and drugged. Especially in the same place she tortured Sarah and destroyed her life

Finally, I'm a long time Xarah supporter but an even longer Ghoul Girl lover so sorry Sarah, but you are a downer and judgemental and Chloe and Xander make me smile. I'm sure they are doomed but I'll enjoy while I can.

I'm kinda liking the idea of Sloan and EJ together.  Both would 100% accept each other and hopefully, both would be occupied when Ericole inevitably implode... AGAIN.

No, Eli was throwing out a hypothetical if it was her.

Lol, the "fish" comment was a throwback to Kate on the boat gutting fish. Not a crude joke about female BO.

It’s kinda of hard to believe scheming, lying manipulative Gwen believes Dimitri.   She owns a paper and has an ace reporter in Leo.  Time to do your homework and see what’s what.

I will always root for Eric and Nicole. Their last breakup was dumb and should not have happened.  The writers should have done better.
Sloan I liked in the beginning and no one else did.  Always root for the underdog.  Her family situation is tough and she seems so alone.  Too bad Eric is her only friend.  She could use a good friend.  Her brother may not be the best choice to tell her secrets to.
Never liked EJ so he can stay in the basement.

Stephanie’s Herve Leger dress or inspired dress did her no favors. Flattened her chest, weird back cutout. Gabi, another 4 inches of dress would have looked far sexier.

Sad turnout for the party.

Of course Leo would find the kidnapped twosome. Too bad Anna wasn’t around. She liked visiting the wine cellar.

Eric was being a good friend to Nicole.

I don’t mind Sloan sticking around. She does need to find some friends and a family of sorts.

Made a comment to my cousin about the Christmas like tinsel at the Bistro,

Yeah, I missed that. Why did he attend? Out of DiMera loyalty? He seems not to care about them anymore.

Far as he's concerned, Stefan raped a mentally ill Abigail and Gabi got her locked up in a mental institution.

So...what was the reason given?

Misplaced family loyalty. Cause Megan asked, even though he readily admits he hates what she did to Kate. Still makes no sense.

Chad and Stephanie were at the party for the free food.  Stephanie is really stupid.  You could tell Johnny and Wendi were together.   Why are you talking about her dating your brother ?

Yeah Leo you are going to be a hero.  Or will he leave EJ and Kristin tied up and see what he can leverage?

I am so uninterested in this story that I forgot why Megan wants to kill Stefan.

Chad and Stefan have been getting along for months now. I remember complaining about it after a scene where the two hugged each other. I remember asking if the actors forgot they were in character because Stefan and Chad would never hug each other.

I think we're supposed to see the two as close brothers now, even though it doesn't match their history.

Were the chairs Megan tied Kristen and EJ to bolted to the floor?  I kept wondering why they didn't just scoot the chairs together and untie each other's hands.

Wendy's character has really changed since she first came to Salem.  At first, she seemed competent and more interested in computers than her clothes.  I miss that Wendy.

I'm beginning to wonder if Megan drugged Li off stage.  He's just so flat in everything he does...robotic.

This engagement party may well go down as one of the most stupid events in the entire series. 🤣  Let's play Spot The Dumb Stuff!

Megan's speech and overly telegraphed surprise at seeing Harris? Razzie worthy.

The extra in the background, half clutching her face, half suppressing laughter? Amazing. (Even I can't deny that)

Stefan, the target, stepping forward to ask 20 questions? Gabi and Wendy debating Li's involvement? Chad piping in? And Harris not doing the one thing he was there to do?  "Its about that time!" Are you sure, though? Maybe you need ten more minutes of conversation first...

Nicole feeling abandoned and worthless....because of EJ? And Eric would be the perfect father???

Show, look, I love them but...you have definitely not proven either of those things to be true. 🙄🙄🙄 In fact, its the opposite.

Leo blabbering instead of untying the captives?

Gwen and Megan's interjections? (Yes, I laughed)

Rafe walking away from the door to the bistro, which was clearly behind Li, as evidenced by the "closed for private party" sign, in order to enter the bistro..?!

Tiny Gabi, in a restrictive mini dress, riding the tall bucking bronco that is Harris...with no one dog piling on him to help her? Legs kicking like a kid at swimming practice? 😂😂😂

The completely unearned campy fantasy sequence of Gabi coming back to Li? Li doesn't think like that....but hey, since apparently we're at Passions levels of stupidity today, why not?

Johnny casually asking Wendy "hey...you okay?" after a gunman held them hostage and murdered someone in front of them?

Eric's magically disappearing stubble?

Rafe not even handcuffing Harris to the chair...or tying him up...nothing?!

EJ and Nicole retiring to a random bedroom in the DiMansion because the double doors of his bedroom set are being used for the "bistro"?

The over caffeinated string music at the end???

👏👏👏👏👏👏

This was horrendous. Take a bow, Show!

Dammit.  Why did MIchaels have to fail at this?  It would have been such a great way to start the week if he'd taken out Stefan.  That guy can't do anything right.

Eric is such a great guy, isn't he?  He roundly and soundly dumped all over Nicole because he disapproved of her behavior around Jada's pregnancy but apparently has no problem putting the moves on her while trying to knock up Sloan with the holiest sperm this side of the River Jordan.

Oh yeah, he'd make a GREAT father.  Remember the name, HOLLY, shitforbrains Eric?  I guess Nicole can't remember her name, either.

What would be so great about a biological kid of his is lost on me, anyway.  Would his child have two vocal settings like he does?  His whiny, complaining voice for everyday situations and his whisper voice for emotions, judgy moments and sex?  Yep, that's some super hot DNA

Judge Judy Eye Roll GIF

that everyone would want.

If Gabi's dresses get any shorter, the hemline is going to be right under her arm pits.

One thing about Nicole.  She could plausibly claim to be the inspiration for that old movie, "Earth Girls are Easy".  In that regard, she and Eric are a perfect match.

I truly DO believe they belong together.

Yeah, that was ridiculous. I mean, I'm team Ericole and even I disliked that random kiss and stupid pensive moment.

Thankfully there were so many other worse things going on, it barely registered.

This is the crappiest part. Eric should be good Dad material. But the insane writing has made him a shadow of his 90s self. I could see JA's teenage Eric as a good prospective father. This guy? After the vanishing act he pulled on his wife and stepdaughter?

As he hugged Nicole, who was uncharacteristically whimpering about how "there for her" he was being, I had to hold in an "AFRICA!!!!"

I want to root for Eric, and his romance with Nicole, but they have a ton of good writing to do first for it to be possible. As it stands, even if Nicole gives birth to his baby....I don't know that he'd suddenly be a happy person or devoted partner. He had Nicole and a kid once before....and it apparently wasn't enough.

He's still better than BenAlex though.

Oops, sorry - say it anyway! Say it your way! 😄 Everyone should be free to vent here! I look forward to reading everyone else's comments :)

OK, now I'll confess I loved Megan's over-the-top acting when Harris came in.  The fact that not one person noticed made me actually laugh.

Leo just leaving Kristin and EJ tied up was funny.   Why neither one of them want to check what drug Megan injected them is is strange.  Do they not remember Sarah ?   Maybe EJ will believe he is Victor.   What if Kristin forgets about her daughter and leaves that poor child alone.

Dimitri seemed shocked by Gwen’s hug and her concern for him and his mom.  Will it make him change his plan ?

Right? The eff was that about? I seriously thought I must have missed a line where Rafe said he forgot his gift or something and had to go back to get it.

That part of the Bistro is upstairs. It's on the 2nd level, they have actually established that in the past. It's also where Hope as Princess Gina threw Jennifer off the balcony igniting the time jump.

Nah, it will make him have feelings for her, which she will never believe once the original plan is revealed.

I actually think Dimitri is gay, that is why he has so much resistance to marrying a woman. I think he will feel bad for Gwen as he sees her feelings develop stronger.

Yes, it just looked like Li was already in front of the door and that Rafe should have walked behind him to enter...not clear across the Square.

Oh please no. There can only be one.

Would that be so bad?

I'm really tired of all the pointless mourning that has gone on lately. Marlena, Kayla, Kate and now Abe.

Still enjoying eerie Whitley.

I think Ron would be happier writing that fake Dynasty/Days soap full time.

(The Dominique champagne reference was cute.)

I hoped Lani would look more weathered from her time in prison. Does that make me a bad person? She acts like she's just been away on a gig, not imprisoned.

"Acts" is overly generous though.
