Current Plots Discussion II: Discussing Today's Episode and Current Storylines

Just my speculation based on recent episodes, but it’s looking like we’ll get a “Who Shot JR….er, EJ” storyline. Ava, Kristen, Kate, Johnny will be the suspects.

I think some other suspects with motive would be Rafe&Jada due to the FakeRafe/Arnold fiasco

That's true. Sarah crawling into bed with Neil and trying to get him fired for malpractice was wild. On the other hand he basically assaulted Maggie by putting his own sperm in her rather than the agreed surrogate so he deserved it.

My dream story is for Evan to return from  the dead and be reinstated as Sarah's biological dad. Lane Davies was talking about it recently so I think he could be talked into a short visit.

I wouldn't be opposed to that assuming that Lane Davies/Suzanne Rogers don't have bad blood post breakup.

I don't think so. He spoke very kindly about her last year when he was complaining about the Sarah retcon.

If he can work with and stay at Nancy Lee Grahns house I am sure he can cope with Suzanne

It feels like all the story lines are in crash and burn mode. When do we. Get new writers' material? Never looked forward to something as much as this in all my soap history😀

April 24th I believe. So we have less than a month will be here before you know it.

Well that was....something.

Orpheus was pretty good. Glad they explained his weird red jacket as being a staff disguise. Him not hesitating to shoot Marlena was a nice change from holding her hostage, and I really liked her using her bag to block the shot and knock him out, but it still felt rushed. We had to watch 3 full minutes of Rafe silently stashing a recording device at the DiMansion....but this huge climactic battle has time jumps? We cut to Marlena having him already tied up? And we don't even get to see her enter the facility or run through some halls before finding Steve?

This show's priorities man...they would show us ten minutes of Leo scratching his ass while talking to himself and hurry through John's rescue/death storyline...even though that's the far more interesting thing.

Remember Kristen's window death in Italy? Same deal. Marlena and Kristen should have dragged each other all over that castle living room set before she was flung to her death. They had 20 years of beef and Kristen was getting written off. Go big! Instead it was given bare minimum screen time, while we had all these extended scenes of Theresa and Brady and then the cops and then Melanie and blah blah blah, who will Brady end up with? As if any of that mattered.

It all just makes me wonder: who paces this show?! Does anyone even think about the balance??

Rafe is a moron - was he planting that recording device without knowing Jada's plan to use Belle for the same purpose? - and I deeply don't believe anyone cares that Jada had 2 minutes of desperation sex with Shawn. Yet he gets all this screentime.

Belle, you shoulda stayed away from EJ. Now you're going to be involved even more. Might even jump him in the livingroom while being recorded.

JJ seems waaaay too smart and mature for the idiots of Salem now, doesn't he?

This is a shallow observation, but I thought Belle looked exceptionally pretty today, she looked tanned & glowing, fitted dress, big gold hoop earrings to add to her golden glow,  she will look very desirable to EJ.  I was chuckling at Rafe popping in & out of the Secret Door to the tunnels.

I get that Marlena had to be at the facility for DRAMA, but if Andrew was any sort of agent at all, he would have given her an address and sent her to Aldi's or something.

I do agree about them rushing John's story which seems ridiculous considering he was a pivotal character on this show for decades.

Rushing? He's been gone for months! I think the pace is perfect. Besides, I'm sure Drake didn't want them to drag this story out anymore than necessary since he was near the end.

I am referring to what we see onscreen though. They are going through this at a much faster pace than some of their other storylines. Maybe they'll do more when the other characters get to actually grieve him for more than a couple episodes.

She did look great which makes it really absurd why they have her look dowdy most of the time.

Rafe had some nerve today.  Jada at least was woman enough to tell him the truth about Shawn, and he could've respected that.  But he instead flies off the handle?!  And given that he cheated on Hope with Sami and on Ava with Nicole, and emotionally cheated on Sami with her own sister, Carrie, who the hell does he think he is to judge?!  At least Jada legitimately thought that her relationship was over!  Rafe was actively in those relationships when he cheated!

Belle was so obvious about what she was doing.  Too obvious.  I knew that E.J. was going to figure out that she was wearing a wire.

Love Orpheus as a villain, but I'm glad that he got caught.  It would've been unbelievable if he'd escaped yet again.

I don't get how "rosebud" is a bad joke to make.

More like a grandma. Days has been dressing her like that since she started as Belle which is really stupid considering she wasn't even 21. Days styling acted like cause the actress was way older she needed to be dressed the same. I'm glad she was dressed very pretty and her actual age for once.

Didn't he also hop from Kate's bed into Jordan's where he went from a friends with benefits type of situation to a committed relationship? Jada really did the same thing in reverse.

"Rosebud!", for those not aware, is a deathbed line from the classic film Citizen Kane.

He might as well have said "show me the money!" or "as God as my witness, I'll never go hungry again!"

Ron has no self control.

Yeah, Rafe needed to shut the hell up completely. Jada did not deserve to be yelled at after all the weeks of hell she went through and the highly unusual circumstances. She'd even be within her rights to say "I can't love this face anymore, sorry" and just end the relationship and take some time alone. But no, rather than Rafe quietly accept that she had a slip-up, he flips his lid for the drama of it.

Bad writing.

Far be it from me to defend Rafe but I can see why he would be bothered that she hooked up with someone they both know and work with. It would make one wonder if this was something that was always there under his nose the entire time etc. If it was some random dude I don't think he would be nearly as bothered.

Eventually he will get past it although with Sami he wasn't with Hope at the time they weren't together when it happened(although it's an ironic parallel given that Hope's son is involved in this pickle). However I think for soapy goodness his reaction doesn't really bother me and I understand it.

I don't get the Rosebud joke either(unless I missed something)

Still, that would only be a legit reason to be mad if Jada had tried to hide it.  Jada didn't hide it.  She told the truth.  That would show me that it was really only a one-time thing that she had no intention of repeating.  If she'd hidden it, then yeah, it would've come off like she'd been carrying on behind Rafe's back repeatedly.

I like Paul but the whole time he was Talking with Marlene and going down memory lane all I could think of is they should be Brady.

Nice flashback to John makes me miss him more

Andrew is a cutie and I could see he was conflicted. I wonder if this secret will affect their relationship

did laugh when Philip said Alex oh, no, don’t strangle me again .  Had to think for a minute and remembered Philip was never one of Ben’s victims      Only one who kills Philip is Philip but  at least he’s ahead of Rex for his moms love

Belle is as dumb as her brother and nephew.

I kept hoping Rafe’s reaction was how Jada was thinking it would go in her head/ a dream.

That and it seems like they have erased his actual mother Tori in all of this.

Kate had a role in raising him and Lucas her faves. I would say Austin is ahead of Rex tbh.

This just reminds me this show gave Kate(and Roman) too many kids. Rex/Cassie should've been Tony/Anna's children or Orpheus's children. At least the Dimeras would have a slightly less laughable future.

Yeah. About her. Her hooking up with John while he was a priest isn't even remotely possible...right?

Rafe and hope we’re on a break.

It was pretty harsh to have her suddenly realize he doesn't measure up to Bo.

Like...didn't we all know that from the outset? Come on now...

Still didn't give Rafe the right to boink Sami.

Hope was deeply messed up from losing Aiden and Bo and killing Stefano all within a week. Plus Andre was attacking her regularly.

Rafe knew damn well you can't build a normal relationship with someone going through all that. But he claimed her anyway.

Now they're comparing EJ to Lanie father?

Ava did more against EJ than he ever did to her, but she wants him dead. They keep making her kidnapping more about EJ than Rachel X2 and Kristen.

Roman sorry to see her go? Seriously. Her crimes are forgotten against his family but EJ deserves to die.

Other than Chad, EJ needs to be done with all of this town. Johnny better not get to live back in that house.

I actually agree with all of this. I don't have an issue with the Brady's not caring about EJ it's valid. However they should also feel the same if not more about Ava as well.

That being said I'm so glad to see Ava go that I am willing to overlook it.

I admit it's a bit surprising to me that Chad has ended up being EJ's most loyal relative.

Today's show had some good moments, I loved when Gabi called Leo a "Deviant Muppet" LOL & he looked taken aback :)  Kristen looked very worried about Rachel, when JJ wanted to talk to her.  And I love the way Rafe just walked in thru the French doors so he could recover the camera/recorder, Why did they not have those doors Locked?!  Jada is drunk & Missing her gun, UhOh. Gabi leaving Leo suspicious after her statement wishing EJ dies & goes to H***  Lots of Suspects!

Well, if it DOES turn out to be young Rachel, I am going to assume it is an accident and I don't think that will be very satisfying since there are so many people who truly are willing to kill him, for good reasons. To waste all that build-up on an accident is lazy.

This is the same show that had Jan kill Charlie Dale despite barely knowing the guy at all.

This is exactly what Ron would do tbh.

So yes I think young Rachel did it(I forgot about the old Rachel still being around).

And Kristin will go to jail rather than admit that her kid is a monster - wait, didn't that happen before (Lucas taking the blame?). How novel to repeat that plot AGAIN. I forgot about Jan and Charlie Dale. Speaking of, isn't it about time for Jan to return with Shawn D's kid? Oh, Ron, how we miss you NOT.

Why would it be an accident???  I'm assuming Rachel shot him on purpose. My assumption is that young Rachel has heard/ is aware of everything he has done. They've already established previously that Rachel eavsdrops on  people in the house.

She shot EJ for kidnapping her grandmother and taking away her partner in crime. She overheard what he did to Johnny and her aunt Sami. She is aware of his back and forth with her Aunt Belle, and her wanting to take him down. She heard that EJ messed her brother Tate's adoption. For a soap opera she has a ton of "legitimate " reasons to shoot uncle EJ.

Yes Lucas took the fall for Will shooting EJ (see it would've been a great time to bring Lucas back for this one).

If you are referring to the baby Jan was pregnant with and claimed to be Shawn's? It was Christian's(which makes him Orpheus's grandson) not Shawn's kid(which I was ok with given that she raped him and we are stuck with little Rachel because of that plot line).

Honestly I hope it's Rachel in an ideal scenario. Kristen takes the fall for her and goes to prison never to return.

Nobody stays in prison on this show. And besides, Kristen will simply get another Governor’s pardon for…reasons.
