90 Day Diaries

Or, as Tom calls it on his Instagram and LinkedIn, "90 Day Dairies." (Which I think would make a better show...)

We're into S2 but I can't find a topic for the show so I started one...

S2E1: the biggest standout was Tom. We finally got to see his girlfriend Mariah in the flesh. Frankly, I'm shocked as hell that she's a real person and not a statue but since she appeared to be blinking out SOS messages throughout the show I'm still not convinced that she's with Tom of her own freewill. I think he courted her so that he could continue his appearance on the franchise. Unfortunately, I don't think she's in on the plan. 

Also, I know I've mentioned this before, but my in-laws live right there by Tom's house. I could throw a rock and hit him-which I haven't done yet but I also haven't been to the UK for awhile. Yes, that house they show is his. No, he does not live there alone. He lives there with him mom, sister Emma, her boyfriend, and their kids. The house has been cut up into sections. Tom doesn't have access to the whole house. 

There were probably other people in this episode but I watched it last week and I've slept and stuff since then. 

 

S2E2: Marcel and Anna might be one of the few "real" couples on the show, and without all the manufactured drama I think they're actually pretty cute. They ARE able to communicate without the translator and they've actually been able to parlay their 90 Day fame into a thriving business. In the world of the 90 Day cottage industries, theirs appears legitimately sustainable. Leo is still cute. 

Danielle was working it on the pole dancing segment. Good for her for trying something new. Mo was right-shame on TLC for focusing on her old drama with him when they could've been showing how well she's doing with school and trying to do something with her life. 

Remember Courtie? Es no parm, Courtie! Well, apparently SHE is the one doing "parm" now...food porn, that is. Yep. She calls it "foot modeling", but let's just talk about it for what it is. She has used HER "fame" into smashing cupcakes with her bare foot. It's as weird as it sounds, but people are actually making bank on this so more power to her, I guess. Unfortunately, when I paused the screen to write this up it landed on her foot smashing the cupcake and now I may never eat one again. Apparently Courtney isn't fulfilled as a foot model so the rest of her segment is devoted to her talking to a life coach. Also, and I say this as someone currently going through the same thing, girlfriend has a goiter and needs to see someone about her thyroid. 

And lastly, we get Becky and Zied which really makes no sense since I feel like we've seen them on everything recently. I don't need an update on them because after HEA, Pillow Talk, etc I feel like I'm living with them in real time. There are lots of things I could say about them, but Zied is literally what's getting my 14yo through the summer so I feel weird making fun of him. (Zied, not my son. I feel fine making fun of him.) Zied and Asuelu might be two of the most innocent and wholesome people I've seen on this series. The difference between the two of them is that I can imagine myself sleeping with one but only burping the other. 

I still don't get this, though. Why do they all think that they only have 90 days to create their dream wedding? Why TF can't these people do it like the rest of us 90 dayers? Get quietly married at the courthouse, get your green card application rolling, and then take your time planning the wedding you want. You have 90 days to get legally married, not to have a wedding. You can have that whenever you want.

Short ladies who have had a ridiculous of plastic surgery and fillers.  

At least Darcey is cute and at times very attractive.

The profile views of Mariah with her grotesquely overinflated lips made me cringe.  They distort the entire lower half of her face from her nose down.  

I agree with you about him courting her to stay on the show.  And I love the insider info about his living arrangements.  😂

I've only seen half of S2 E1 as I fell asleep, but I'll definitely be catching up on this mess.  Thanks for starting the thread, @mamadrama!

Anna and Murcel - You want to drive from Omaha to Syracuse for an egg retrieval?  Pump meds into your body?  Hire a surrogate?  Find child care for Leo?  Find someone to cover the store? Pay lots of $$$$ for this?  Asking, in a roundabout way for your kid's blessing to have a baby?  Girl, you are braver than me.  Beekeeping must pay more than I thought!

Danielle - good for you for pole dancing.  You are, shockingly, the least annoying person to me.  Oh what a surprise - your three besties showed up.  Again.  Their story just shows how clinging to this storyline the TLC brass is.  They married in met/married in 2014, divorced in 2017, FOUR YEARS ago.  And they want to drag him out and make him apologize......again.  Her ax throwing date has not called in four months.  Guess that is a pass, Danielle.

Skipped Courtney and Rebecca and Zied.  I have seen enough of those last two.

I'm loving Larry and Jenny and how boring they are. They're both a little flat but they seem to genuinely love each other and appear to work as a team. I'm really rooting for these two.

I saw the Anna/Mursel thing on youtube.  I don't understand these women of a certain age who want to get pregnant again or use a surrogate. When you meet a man and you are over the baby years just tell them the kitchen is closed! She has a great business and 3 kids.  Mursel should thank his lucky stars someone wanted to marry him and be done with it.

Off the top of my not-quite-awake head, they included (amongst others) Jenny and Larry, Sasha and Emily, Stephanie from Stephanie and Erika, and a few others.

At this point Tim did everything he could to make amends…maybe he is the one who deserves better. she acts as though she isn’t needy but when he dumped her she begged for him to come back…all while treating him like garbage because she can’t forgive the cheating. I don’t get it. 
 

I wish Anna and Mursel luck. I think a lot of the drama was for tee vee and his English seems better than originally portrayed.

I know right? He really thinks he is something. He is so unlike able and his poetry is dreadful. I prefer Tarik to Dean. I know people like him but I detected shades of sexism and fakery. He definitely has a ‘camera’ persona he likes to play up to. I do hope that Hazel is able to bring Harry over to be with her. He will have better access to education in the US.

Do we really need more Loren, Alexi and baby? They are on Pillow Talk all the time. I do feel bad for Alexi. He must miss his family terribly. I do think they are very well suited and have a happy family life. Nothing to see here. 

Anny was very different.  Very warm and loving. More proof the Anny we saw on her season was all BS. They both seem very sensible and have discussions about life events together. They knew each other for such a short period of time but they seem to be one of the most well adjusted and compatible couples on this show.

I feel like I'm in some kind of reverse-Pavlov thing where any time I hear her voice, SHE starts salivating and smacking and slurping. She's fucking disgusting. I'll never get over that exceptionally bad blowup with her ex-husband (honestly can't remember his name -- Corey? Evan? Chuck? Eric?*) where she was blubbering at him and she had snot and tears and spit pouring out of every hole on her head. She's so gross her segments should air during Dr. Pimple Popper.

Fortunately, when Fernanda is "coming up," I've fast-forwarded to the next "stars."  I don't think I can endure this "Diaries" iteration.

LMAO rewatching Larry’s proposal and the ring box was all messed up when he tried to open it.  Jenny is joyful as always. I though Larry’s job was in corporate not maintenance?  Larry is pretty harmless and has the best intentions but he needs to listen to his son and buy a house.

Sasha wants to bring one son over but not the other? I still don’t care for him.

Tims season was 2019?!?!? That feels like a lifetime ago. Tim likes his girls young doesn’t he? He is an odd one but seems like a nice guy. I can’t believe Veronica dated Tim for 8 years, her new boyfriend seems like a polar opposite. 

Ash still  has crazy eyes. I know he has thyroid issues but he looks unbalanced. So he is coaching men now? Makes sense after his last incel laced seminar. His little talks will go over much better with the men.

So far I have only watched the episode with Jenny and Larry. OMG....I had flashbacks to their season....it was gold! Comedy gold! Him getting off the plane with trash bag (literally) luggage.....her dead, monotone voice and lack of expression....his general goofiness. I remember thinking girlfriend must be hella desperate to get out of dodge is she was hitching her wagon to this guy. 

However...I have to say, I think they are a good match. Which goes to show that for some people, a good marriage isn't all about flash and lust and romantic gestures. Some people are fine with just the human basics of respect and kindness. She certainly seems willing to roll up her sleeves and work hard right alongside Larry, which was good to see. I was a little surprised when she flat out refused to consider moving to Texas because she didnt' want to lose her friends in FL. I think what his son said made a lot of sense and she could have an actual home not live in an RV if she moved. But, nope. I could almost read his son's thought bubble as they talked, "oh my God, Dad...love you, but you are a MORON when it comes to money and life."  If she were in it for just a green card, she would have left at this point.......she must actually care for him. Hope it all works out for them.......I felt bad when she made the comment about getting her nails done. I mean, a manicure is like $12-15 and they can't spare it? They clearly are struggling, but at least seem to be in it together. Warmed my cold, cynical heart.

I haven't been participating in the 90 Day Diaries Live Chats and this is the only other topic for the program I was able to find.

I'm halfway through S3/E8 It takes Two to Tango and just finished watching the segment with Evelyn minus David.

Can't believe two such "devout Christians" got a divorce! 

I'm sure they went through months of pastoral counseling, attended several Marriage Retreats, and did all the things that would be expected of a Christian couple who honor the marriage vows they made in the presence of God. Right? /S

What really got to me was when Evelyn said the Bible does allow divorce under some circumstances. Well, Evelyn, I can read, too! The Bible allows divorce if your spouse commits adultery, or if your spouse is a non-believer and they ask for a divorce.

That's it. 

Neither of those apply to Evelyn and David.

I would have had so much more respect for her if she'd admitted the only two acceptable reasons for divorce in the Bible are too harsh, and that she decided to file for divorce despite her situation not being sanctioned by the Bible. But she was very cryptic in the way she said it; it was as if she was hoping enough people don't know what the Bible actually says and will assume she knows and her situation is one that's "acceptable".

There's a very good reason the Christian churches ignore what the Bible says about divorce and remarriage*. If they didn't, they'd lose over half their congregations and all the money that half brings in.

Hey...that reminds me... isn't there something about "serving two masters" in that book somewhere? I should look it up...😉

*The Bible says if you divorce and remarry you're committing adultery. Adultery is a death-penalty crime in the Bible.

Travelling nurses go where they are needed & sent by their agency not near where they choose to live, that would be called a normal nurse I guess.

I presumed that it was Ozempic as I suspect most people did but it wasn't actually specified.

Since this appears to be entirely self-filmed, I wonder if they just opened it up to all 90-Day alumnus and said, shoot what you want, send it to us and if we use it, we'll pay you accordingly. 

The deal with Brandon & Julia giving mom & dad a key to their new home was ridiculous.  Give mom a key and she thinks she can come and go at will.  Mom & dad get all bent out of shape when given boundaries.  When I move to a new place I give a nearby relative a key with the understanding that they are an emergency backup in case I am locked out.  That's it.

I watched both episodes on demand. I’m a glutton for punishment and stir-crazy from being shut up in the house due to weather.

You-all who aren't watching aren’t missing anything. I think those who were on another 90-Day show recently are trying to keep a foothold. Everyone who's on is probably competing for upcoming seasons. A lot of the material was from early  pandemic. I felt like I was in a living nightmare seeing those who I thought were safely out of my life. 

But seriously…Kara is still high-maintenance and entitled;  you’d think no one’s ever had a baby before. Guillermo let slip that K makes all the decisions and he goes along to keep the peace. Tom: why the hell is he on? No one cares. Not likeable. His Mom was on, she has a disfiguring illness unfortunately but is sweet. Tom moans over his first-world problems.  

I FF’d through Patrick/Thais. Jenny/Sumit was the one good segment. Ugh, Cortney--WHY Is she back?? Does she have a job or does she just couch-surf? A female Jeff Spicoli. Ari and Bini--in Vegas now for his career and as incompatible as ever. Ari still comes off as spoiled & self-dramatizing, but at least she is taking a step = one course online. She hangs out with her ethnic community in Vegas while Bini hangs out with his (which Ari complains about). Janice is temporarily working in Vegas and no doubt steering the ship. Brandon and Julia are ridiculous; all in the family are fake. Brandon is as passive-aggressive as ever,  needs to go to counseling for his controlling-Mom issues. Emily and Kobe do not need to be on, they’ve already got a Pillow Talk gig, and I too think E received Ozempic or a competitor. I won't watch Diaries again...I won't...I won't! (Yolanda is coming back...a juicy fight is previewed but you can't trust this show.)

I could have sworn he came out and stayed with her or in hotel and she was not willing to move with him because she has kids so that’s why he plans moving to where she is.  Was I dreaming that?

From what I can remember he moved to LV to stay with her for a few months but she made him stay at a hotel/air bnb or wherever as she said didn't want the kids getting upset with him being there, which was just an excuse to keep him at arms length in my opinion and she's playing him like a fiddle for 10 minutes of fame. 

She is as rough as Darcey if not rougher and again it's all the plastic surgery, same MO different female.

I truly wanted to repeat Tuneful's entire posting--it's spot on.  I wonder at the age and experience of the "production people" making decisions on this DIARIES showcase.  Such a waste of air time...theirs, yours, ours.  Just as my best friend is "compelled" to watch EVERY "Bachelor Nation" franchise...she actually said "FOMO," there are similar zombies watching everything "90-Day."  My best friend's age?  Same as mine: we'll be 84 this year.  What 84-yr-old woman is COMPELLED to watch Bachelor in Paradise?  Why/How does she remember the story of every wannabe who sluts into reality TV?
