Lady Calypso April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 Wow, we don't even get a full minute before we're in the Loved Ones episode. Oh, and now there's more than one loved one. But cute kids! 2 Link to comment
Straycat80 April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 Oh no, my least favorite episode, the loved ones. 3 Link to comment
CletusMusashi April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 Just once, can't we see a normal person on this show? I want to see a player muttering "god damn it, I came here to get a vacation away from my family..." 6 Link to comment
LadyChatts April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 And now we're going to spend 10 minutes reflecting with each castaway that their families are the reason they are there and keep fighting. 2 Link to comment

enchantingmonkey April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 Too much crying for my taste. I'll have to rely on you guys to decide if I'm going to watch any of these loved ones moments. 1 Link to comment
Lady Calypso April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 This is going to take up the full ten minutes because they're doing this visit really early lol 2 Link to comment
LadyChatts April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 (edited) Okay, I don't like Ben or the loved ones, but his daughter yelling "surprise" was cute. Edited April 16, 2020 by LadyChatts 1 2 Link to comment
Lantern7 April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 Seriously, though, has there ever been a time where someone came close to not getting a visit? Aside from Jenna in S1, of course. Ben’s kids aren’t wearing hats. Cut to money changing hands (online, of course). 1 Link to comment
truthaboutluv April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 Oh wow, they're bringing the whole family this time. Anyone suspect they added the kids because they were hoping Rob or Amber would still be in the game, so their kids would get to be on "Survivor"? 1 4 Link to comment

cleo April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 This much time on one family? This is going to take forever. I also agree with whoever said it's kind of nauseous watching this given the real trauma some people are going through with being separated from and losing family members. 4 Link to comment

But someone pointed out that this is kind of callous given that people are losing loved ones in real life, so maybe it shouldn't be. Edited April 16, 2020 by wallflower75 1 2 Link to comment
Lantern7 April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 Did Tony get a visit the time he won? I’m imagining a Spy Shack slowly moving from the bushes. And then the family pops out. 3 Link to comment

I think the closest we got was Survivor Amazon when Butch's brother in law came out and he asked where his wife was (and Jeff made a comment about "feeling the love"). Link to comment

LadyChatts April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 It's weird that the ones who don't have kids are only getting one visitor. Not that I'm complaining, but why not splurge and let them bring out another family member or something. Link to comment
Lantern7 April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 (edited) Meanwhile, the EoE bunch is getting $50 gift certificates from Applebee’s. ETA: “Daddy, are you still running around like a spaz?” 😜😜😜 Edited April 16, 2020 by Lantern7 2 Link to comment
EllenB April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 Ugh, I hate the family visits on each season, but this time it's a goddamn slap in the face to every person who can't see their loved ones right now. Separation because a person wants 2 million bucks and separation to save lives? Big difference. They had plenty of time to re-edit this fake crapfest. 4 Link to comment
CletusMusashi April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 At this rate, the family members will still be there when it's time for tribal council. 3 2 Link to comment
LadyChatts April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 So if Rob had managed to get back into the game over Tyson, would they let Amber leave EOE to escort their kids out here, so Jeff could say "it's because of this show you guys are even here!" 2 Link to comment

Straycat80 April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 I always think of Johnny Fairplay asking his friend where his Grandma was and the friend said she died. I’m reality she was alive and well and watching Jerry Springer. 3 1 Link to comment

This is why I have never liked the emotion around the family visit. These people are willingly leaving their loved ones for less than 2 months. I think about the military members who get deployed overseas for months and months and have extremely limited contact with their loved ones. Years ago, my cousin was in the Navy and stationed in Guam, while his wife was back here in the states. His son (and first child) was born early, and as a result he missed the birth. So yeah, I can't get into the tears here. 6 Link to comment

Well, I’m guessing being isolation for that long increases the tears exponentially. Also, you have to factor in the time they’re sequestered before the game begins. Wait, I thought Tyson played with Kat. 🤷♂️ Link to comment
vb68 April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 (edited) Does anybody else still cringe at the memory Lisa Welchel's "Brother!!!.... Sister!!!" moment? That was so awkward and kinda creepy. Edited April 16, 2020 by vb68 Link to comment

Lantern7 April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 Getting vague memories of the G.I. Joe two-parter when Cobra kidnapped and brainwashed families of specific Joes. That isn’t too weird a reference, right? 1 1 Link to comment
Lady Calypso April 16, 2020 Share April 16, 2020 Yeah, I think the only ones I get emotional at are the players who have genuinely had a tough time in the game (ie Karishma) and clearly need a family visit for a boost. 2 Link to comment
