Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) voted to go on strike on Thu., 7/13, which means that Y&R, GH and BB will go dead after they've run through their stockpiles of already filmed episodes should the strike not be settled before then - one issue the union has is over the use of AI to reproduce an actor's likeness without the actor's permission or compensation.  One way the soaps could maintain an audience might be to select representative episodes from their library of past episodes to introduce/re-introduce viewers to storylines from the 70s, 80s, 90s and early 2000s.

Per Deadline and other online sources, the actors strike will not affect the daytime soaps.

I wasn't watching back when (Patch)Tucker and Assley were together so I'm not sure what heinous crimes he committed and how he hurt her so badly.  I just know everyone keeps warning her about him and she just gives them that eating-a-lemon smile and then blames Diane for something. A sane person would not get re-involved with someone that they knew was bad for them.  I do vaguely remember that she carried around a blanket that was her Baby Robert and was full on Crazytown.  Seeing her unable to tell Tucker that she loves him and then going on yet another rant about Diane (after he's told her repeatedly that he doesn't want to hear it) made me think she has drifted right of reality and into another visit to Crazytown.  Her belief, that destroying her father's company is a good thing, just confirms it for me.

I have to admit I was pretty bummed when a very sweet scene with Lily and Daniel was interrupted. With or without Mop, SideBoob is insufferable. Back in the day, who would have thought that Dru would turn out to be the good mom and Olivia would raise her child to be that egotistical creep.

There’s something delightful about Tucker holding court in a GCAC suite like a zen mafioso. I’m sure I’ll want to nuke his ass from orbit once Phyllis starts rampaging all over town like a chicken-winged Godzilla. I can forgive a great deal from a man who grins like a kid at Christmas while recording Phyllis being arrested, but using that loon to curry favor with his deranged fiancee might be a bridge too far.

Speaking of the velociraptor, Phyllis couldn’t even hold back a smirk when facing the prosecutor and the victim of one of her more violent assaults. What an irredeemable narcissist, swanning down the stairs, smirking, mouthing off and starring in her own little true crime drama in a public place. She was galloping all over Genoa City so freely that it defies belief no one in law enforcement could catch her until she nobly gave herself up. Oh, that’s right. Chance is the only cop, and he spends valuable time providing marriage counseling to the perp’s daughter and co-conspirator. He can’t be expected to squeeze in tracking the whereabouts of Phyllis’s probable contacts too.

Lily went in hard on Nate and it was really quite enjoyable to see his ego get punctured. Then he has the nads to pout his way back home like he’s the victim. Good one, Side Part.

Diane, shut the fuck up. Stop defending Summer and pushing Kyle to forgive her. Pomp has seen the Phyllis within and it scared the shit out of him. Let him have his space.

And here's the thing, Nasty Nate THINKS he is the victim.  His overblown ego doesn't leave much room for a conscience which could help him see that he actually has made serious mistakes.
 
He has enough educated veneer to spout superficial apologies to Devon and Lily, but he puts no real feeling in them.  And he can just STFU when he talks about being sorry he "hurt" Elena. Why am I not surprised that Carson was lured back by Tucker to defend Taz🌪️. More 🐂💩 abounds. I was amazed at the timing going on there with Tucker, Red Boogaloo, Heather, Christine, Chance. All of the multi-dimensional quantum space time continuums seemed to converge all at once to the GCAC, which is apparently the center of our universe. A  truly once in a lifetime experience.

The moment was fleeting, of course, and Phyllis hilariously didn’t even react to Tucker flat out telling her that her mere existence was destructive enough to suit his purpose.

I feel like I’m the only Sharon fan here. At least it’s not Summer climbing Chance like the sexy sex tree he is.

Yeah. I like Sharon too, or I mostly did until she was written into a corner and made to look like the village idiot. But that's not Sharon the actress or Sharon the character's fault, it's the writers fault IMO. The writers and actors strikes are still not a premise for TPTB to stop producing present day episodes in favor of showing historical ones. Not unless TPTB deliberately choose to use the strikes as excuses and so far they haven't seemed inclined to do that.

It appears they're occasionally showing classical episodes on certain US national holidays, and/or to honor legacy characters.

Speaking of sincere, I find the most heartfelt apologies are delivered with a soupçon of irritation. Did Nate attempt to deliver his cousin’s family business to Newman Enterprises in an underhanded scheme? Yes, but he said the magic “I made a booboo” words and that wipes the slate clean instantly.
