Getting to Genoa You All Over Again: Y&R Daily Chat

There are two new, attractive, interesting men on the canvas: Tucker and Stark. Toss in Chance and Adam (both a bit younger). Yet who do we get stuck with almost daily? Billy and Nick. And now Daniel. Tucker has been on for awhile (but is hardly ever on) yet has no real story and has not connected emotionally with anyone other than his grandson. Stark is handsome and has charisma but so far is written as a caricature. Both actors should be featured more; there could be lots of story for both…business-wise and romantically. Let’s give this show some much needed caffeine.

That said, I'm bored with this Diane/Jeremy story, too, and I don't even understand what Diane's plan is or how it gets Jeremy out of her life.  But I rarely understand these convoluted feints that only happen on soaps.  I do like Diane, I just wish they'd wrap this up, let her past be in the past, and move on.

Same.  I would like to see more of SW, but the story is beyond done, and the "plan" to trick Stark is embarrassing to watch.  Either bring on the inevitable Diane as the bad guy and Phyllis was right and get it over with, or instead (please) just draw this down and have Diane move on to something else.

Per the conversation up thread, I find Tucker to be a good counter to Phyllis.  His weird, non energy energy seems to parry a lot of the scene chewers like MS and EB.

And man, those kids love Tucker/TSJ.

Since Abby can't get pregnant I assume she doesn't use birth control, and Devon wouldn't have a reason to either. I hope that couch is Scotchguarded

Abby can get pregnant, she can't carry to term.  I can't remember the medical details, mainly because I was too bored the first time they discussed them.

AND here we go with The Phyllis Was Right All Along Tour.  Ughh. And Summer stays stuck on stupid.  Phyllis straight up lied to Summer's face time after time for months, yet Phyllis is all butthurt because Summer neglected to tell her something that was none of her business.  And when Summer begged Phyllis repeatedly to back off of Diane and just keep the peace, Phyllis couldn't manage to move that mountain for her.

Today was such a shitstorm and if Phyllis didn't already have advanced standing in the Worst Parents in the Galaxy Club, right next to Victor, she does now.  Nothing says "love" like demanding complete and unquestioning obedience to Phyllis's every whim, prejudice and grudge.  She's Victor in a dress and that's an image none of us need.

Everything you said, Snaporaz, all of which will be ignored when Phyllis is eventually hogtied and lauded as the bestest mom since Ma Barker and get a load of those cookies!   I'm still hoping she'll swallow her tongue on one of her protected throat sobs she manages to work into every conversation lately.

Oh yeah..... after today, I'm ready to send Dummer both my recipe for peanut butter cookies and all the ingredients.  Maybe Daniel can gag when he licks the spoon.  It seems he's forgotten exactly how miserable Phyllis made his life.  Or, he's eager to see Dummer get the same treatment, since Phyllis never stopped giving Daniel grief for not hating on Christine, not to mention what she did to him with Lucy, among so many other things.

Count me in on the bored with Diane storyline, too.  I don't think the writers have a clue as to where they're going with all this, either.  Everyone is very vague on how Diane getting closer to Stark is supposed to neutralize him.

I'm hoping he and Phyllis fall for each other.  Now all we need is a dumpster in a dimly lit alley.......

I, for one, appreciate this show’s modern approach to empowering women. For decades, Victor has reigned supreme as THE loathsome, controlling, narcissistic demon parent, leaving generations of dysfunction and dingleberries in his wake. Finally, a woman has been elevated to his tyrannical heights, freely making dogshit demands of her spawn after lying to them, stealing from them and springing one’s rapist from prison. Phyllis Summers, a beacon of progress, ladies and gentlemen.

Believe it or not, I once liked Phyllis. I shipped Jack and Phyllis hard. While Phyllis and Nick had sexual chemistry, for me, it didn’t cover for how breathtakingly awful their affair really was. Nick cheating on his grieving wife after their daughter died and forming a new family around a new miracle dotter that Phyllis never failed to rub in Sharon’s face grossed me out. Then I waited years for the payoff that Summer was actually Jack’s, but Nick couldn’t be shown as the turd he truly is so that story ended like most of Nick’s evenings, with a wet fart. Summer and Kyle did think they were siblings for a while, so them being married is kind of ick. Not everyone in the audience forgets, show.

Another vote for ending the Stark storyline. I mean, keep Jeremy around; he’s interesting, but like others have said, this whole Diane scheme to neutralize him is sad and embarrassing. Let’s just skip to Phyllis gloating all over town, wings and gums a’flapping. If we’re lucky, her victory tour will wind down by July.

The only thing that comes to my mind is him committing a felony and getting sent back to prison.  Or getting killed in commission of said felony.

When he said she had to 'prove' her loyalty, my mind immediately went to sex (because that's what all the guys I dated in high school meant).  Guess he's got something a little more lucrative in mind.  So my guess is that Diane will concoct the perfect score and then contact the Feds to arrest him.  Can't wait to see what it is:  Robbing Fort Knox? Scamming the Kardashians?  Selling military secrets?

Somehow, Jack will get burned in this which makes me very sad.

I forgot to mention this yesterday. When Copperhead is not happy, nobody else can be happy.  Copperhead is GC’s Medusa but instead of turning its citizens to stone, with one look, she can make its citizens miserable just by her presence.

This morning with Devon and Abby is like Chance who?  Amanda who?  Chance was right about Devon and Abby.  Their desire for each other didn’t happen overnight.  It was a perfect storm that led them to act on their enviable fatal attraction.  How long will it be before Abby moves in with Devon?

I don’t get it as I don’t get half the 🐂💩 that is being written.  The monkeys with a keyboard make it seem that all you have to do is snap your fingers and you can have an IPO.  There are rules and regulations from the SEC and you need an investment bank to act as underwriters of your IPO.  Audra my consult but she’s really not qualified to set a date nor the price for the IPO.  The biggest thing is loosing control which Devon is worried about. Devon is a billionaire so it would be wiser for Devon to add capital to CW than an IPO.

Ashley Ashley Ashley, if if if?  If the Queen had balls, she would be King.  Ashley let me ask you that when you were describing Diane as sneaky, manipulative and can act as your best friend you didn’t actually mean Copperhead?

Diane unwittingly got into bed with a criminal but when she found out, Diane turns state evidence. To Ashley that a bad thing.  When Diane doesn’t give into Tucker’s demands and you give Tucker a pass, that also a bad thing.

Tucker and Audra sharing an unique message tone is a complete no no. I thought Tucker would be smarter than that.

Summer is not Harrison’s mother so she needs Kyle’s consent to take him to Paris. A textile show seems to be a very short term fix. It would be smart for Summer to take Harrison to Paris until the Stark issue is resolved. This is Summer we are talking about so smart is not her vocabulary. I’m just worried now that Summer being out of harms way with Harrison, tells Copperhead that Diane’s plan is a sham and Copperhead tells Stark.

Adam and Sally are still 🔥together even if they try not to be.  If this baby is not Adam’s it would be a travesty because with Adam, it would be a love child. With Banana Breath, it’s just another child that he hardly pays any attention to.

I don’t know why, but Nick is hard to look at anymore. Something is off putting - I don’t know if it is the short, greasy hair; or the perpetual sneer he has adopted. But something is off with his looks/voice. So he is all kinds of Ick. Yes, with a capital “I”. Give him a rest.

Oh, I loved Audra's straight hair. A good different look for her. But yuck, the C-W IPO garbage again.

Whoa, did Jack highkey insinuate Ashley is a viper? To her face?!!!??

Abby has realized she no longer belongs at the Chancellor estate but Devon talked her out of the logical place she was going with that. Stay out of it, Devon. It's not your house either. Gah.

Who is this new MWT who drops expressions like "halcyon days" in casual dialogue on a daytime soap opera? Though with his education Adam is probably one of few people in GC for whom talking like that makes sense I think.

Yikes, Audra's skirt tho. From the back it looked like she'd accidentally sat in something. Or massively pooped herself after eating a vat of calamari. 🙀

The heck was that up and down sneer Summer threw at Diane right in front of Kyle? Girl, bye. Diane has tubes of lipstick with more substance than you.

Darn, Tucker was the viper Jack was referring to. Jackie, you don't even know. Right now Tucker's a whole nest of snakes.

Lily, Abby, and Tucker* were all wearing shades of purple today. It must be a hot color this season.

Do it, Devon! Tell Lily you're taking your Hamilton/Winters ball and going home. Let her try to suck up to Jill with that bad news.

Abby's just now taking off her wedding rings. Ehhhh. AFAIC she should've tossed those as soon as Chance caught her writhing naked underneath Devon.

Ashley. Went. In. on Jack about Diane. Went in, poured some gasoline, and set his hiney on fire, lol.

How exactly is sourpuss Summer going to take Harrison to Europe? She's not his mother. Kyle better shut that nonsense down. Grrr.

Tucker and Audra using the same ring tone for each other. ATFKMWTS?

*ETA: Worn on TV says Lily and Abby's outfits were blue, not purple.

Summer must be confused.  She needs to be asking the kid's actual mother, Tara, for permission to do anything.  I didn't realize people lost custody of their kids for wire fraud or whatever Tara did that was way less harmful than what Summer's filthy mother does by waking up each morning.  F off.

I have to mute  Nick and Sally scenes. I just CANNOT with their nasty, awkward relationship. Too bad I can’t be arsed to turn off the closed captioning. Nick is the perfect man like Buttbiscuit has pinhole nostrils. I’d honestly rather watch an hour of Lily and Billy wallowing In misery next to each other than have my eyeballs sullied for five seconds by Nick’s “afterglow.”

You know, instead of this tiresome sting operation against Jeremy Stark, I’d rather watch he and Diane go on criminal capers all over Genoa City. Of course, all the daring, exciting con games happened off screen and all the audience gets is vague remembrances of past frauds, Jack grimacing and Summer & Kyle whining their way towards a divorce. Zzzz.

Climb Chance like a tree, Sharon. You just don’t pass up an opportunity like that.

What an oddly drab Friday episode.

Ehhh. I can definitely understand why Sharon would want that but not Chance. He could easily get women his own age, with no strings attached if he's feeling gun shy right now. He doesn't need the Mrs. Robinson treatment.

I had about 20 episodes on my DVR that I didn't get to over the holidays. I was going to delete them all, but then decided just to fast-forward them and only stop to watch the scenes with Chance in them.

It was an excellent decision, and I'm now a Chance expert. Some young girl will not do, Chance needs an older woman to make him feel better, and get him through this tough time in his life. Sharon must jump on that handsome hunk of a man for all of us. Please Y&R, make it happen. 🙏

I want Sharon to get in there before Ashley gets a gander and decides to say goodbye to her son-in-law in that special way.

I can never forget, no matter how hard I try, that Ashley and her daughter were both lunching off the All You Can Eat Stitch Platter once upon a time.

That would cure my carb cravings for a lifetime.

Why is Jack even entertaining this horseshit? And if Diane must commit a crime why doesn’t she just kidnap Summer? Btw, Summer, Harrison is not your son, he is your stepson. He has a mom and I hope she gets out soon.

Give Chance to Lily. She deserves someone nice and hot after putting up with Billy all this time.

I'd been kind of thinking maybe Lily with Adam as a weird, how could that possibly be a couple. But now I'm thinking maybe Audra? I'm still up in the air on her as a character, but I think the actress has settled in a little bit and I'd love to see Sally's face if she saw Adam out with Audra.

I have come to the conclusion that Diane Jenkins whole life is one long con, with Jack Abbott as her latest unwitting accomplice, and I can't wait to see how her latest plot to steal from the Newmans works out - imagine the fallout from something like that.

Did Fenmores have a sale on leather pants?  Even Sharon has joined the club.

WTF? Banana Breath has to question what Sally just throughout?  What is it his business except for the fact he’s just creepy and a busy body.  Why doesn’t he just go into Sally’s bathroom and check the garage there?

Nostrils, are you that stupid?  Why wouldn’t you think that a first therapy session would not be hard. Did you think it was a meet and greet?

Chance is being very disingenuous. Chance talks about family time but that was Abby’s biggest complaint that her was never home for family time. All of a sudden now there is less police work for Chance to do. Bad guys are on vacation?  Chance and Sharon sharing a meal together of Ethiopian food. I wonder if it’s kosher. There is a large population of Jews, in Ethiopia, that can trace their lineage back to biblical times.

I had to 🤣 when Banana Breath takes a break from work to clear his head?  Yes Banana Breath, but your head cleaning brakes take all day.

Summer Summer Summer you ARE A SNOWFLAKE!!  Don’t make this about my mother because it’s Diane’s never ending chaos?  Summer, there would be no current chaos without your mother.  If fact, your mother is responsible for 75%, of chaos that happens in GC.

I don’t understand why they don’t just ignore Stark. He’s a white color criminal and I don’t think he would want to risk his parole in any way.  So Diane and Jack decided to steal from Nikki. Didn’t Diane tell Stark not to mess with Victor and now she’s going to do what she told Stark not to do.

Sally forgot one thing that even if she tried to cover her “tracks”, with Banana Breath, Adam is not that dumb to not question if he is the father.  I wouldn’t bet on Banana Breath embracing the fact that he’s the father of Sally’s baby.  When he finds out, he will ask Sally if she’s sure it’s not Adams.  That’s how Banana Breath rolls.

Nick just shows up at Sally's room whenever he wants and acts like he's entitled to know what she's been doing. And Sally puts up with it.

"Our son." On behalf of Tara: Grrr. Free Harrison's Real Mommy!

I thought Jeremy was supposed to be broke so it's curious how he can afford fancy champagne. Also not sure how Jeremy would launder money through a club someone else owns. Was he thinking he'd buy Noah out?

Maybe the reason Lily and Billy's therapy session went poorly is due to Billy's persistent manspreading. Ugh.

Shut up, Summer. Stark hasn't done anything to hurt anyone actually, least of all you. Frankly, he's coming across more and more like a paper tiger to me.

Lol, Sally needs to invest in a paper shredder. Cross-cut. Lucky for her Nick doesn't have great eyesight.

But ya are, Jeremy. Ya are a sucker. Diane has already played you for one and you are out here looking like 2023's worst criminal.

Nachos and guac seem kind of low-rent to me for a restaurant specializing in Cuban cuisine.

Kyle, tell Summer she can go wherever she wants but Harrison is staying in GC. Yeesh, she's getting to be as hysterical as Phyllis over the Diane thing.

Where is Billy living while Lily is taking time apart?

Nikki? Diane, you must be joking. Nikki the Newman enforcer would kill you for realsies this time if you tried to come after her or her family. This has to be a feint.

"Cricket." AKA, The Bug. Now there's a blast from the past. Good times!

Lily and Nick rarely have scenes together. Chem test? Heh, I'd put a heap of cash on a bet that pairing will never happen.

The CC and the voiceover had Chelsea saying Billy was treating her like a pity case. However, her lips mouthed something else. Pity pot? Pity party?

Is it common for prospective birth mothers to fly in potential adoptive parents for interviews? Good thing Tessa and Mariah can afford to do that.

Gonna have to take back some of the trash I've talked about Chelz. I would've expected her to swoop in for the kill once she knew Billy was single, but instead she pushed him to fix things with Lily. Okay.

Christine didn't pull any punches during her convo with Danny; she still can't stand Phyllis. (With good reason!) So I simply don't get why she's following Phyllis on social media.

Don't do it, Lily! Stop casting your pearls before that walking, talking porcine pool of regurgitated slop.

When the actress playing Christine was seated with Tessa, Mariah, and Sharon discussing adoption, she had visible hand tremors unless she clasped them together, or held on firmly to some object. Hope she was just nervous, and not unwell. Didn't watch for the rest of the week until today. Sadly, more drama in the House of Representatives than any home in Genoa City for me. The "couples" on this show project so little chemistry to me. Summer & Kyle, Lily or Chelsea & Billy, Sally & Nick, Stark or Jack & Diane, Sharon & Chance definitely have such terrible scripts, and little to no talent, and/or enthusiasm. Sharon looked like the Bride of Chucky grinning at Chance over dinner to me. They all have such boring storylines. Even Sally and Chance seem to have caught the malaise that pervades the denizens of Genoa City. Maybe they should put Ashley, Ally, and Chance together to investigate if Genoa City has old lead serving pipes going into the homes, that are slowly poisoning them all? It could explain the cravings they all seem to have for coffee, cocoa or alcoholic beverages. A good way to start this whole story arc would be with Sally experiencing a miscarriage. They can treat the city residents one by one, and the audience will certainly enjoy seeing the actors' energy levels gradually restored.

I almost forgot how much worse they can make already terrible stories.  So Diane's going to try to steal from the Newmans?

Like they're ever to allowed lose.  A minor highlight in the sea of crap on this show was that I wasn't seeing much of Nikki and Grampire stinking up the screen.  Now inevitably they'll be brought out to show how "formidable" and badass the NewMoney family  cult is.  No thanks, I can read desperate fan fiction somewhere else.

In next week's preview with St.Chelsea , Buttbiscuit looked like some kind of Vaudeville reject in that oversized coat and weird pose.  New career path, maybe?

NOW I know why that ButtBiscuit preview took me back to the late night movies of my youth, specifically Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy movies

ButtBiscuit was the spitting image of

Mortimer Snerd.  His acting couldn't possibly get any more wooden.

Now a REALLY good storyline would be ButtBiscuit discovering, even this late, that John Abbott was not his real father, but instead....  At least then he'd know he came by his sense of style and actiing ability naturally.

Here's my rant:

If you walked into a place that served food and saw the owner of said establishment enjoying a meal that, by the containers left on the table in plain sight, indicated it was from somewhere other than said establishment would you want to eat there?  And does Sharon allow people to bring in outside food to her coffee house?  Setting a bad precedent there, Sharon.

I agree 1000%. All the actors seem to be giving out “I can’t believe I’m stuck doing this job” energy.

Why haven’t we seen more of Sally getting a good job? I really enjoyed the scenes with Jess Walton but if the actress wasn’t available, it all could’ve been done off-screen. The most incompetent people on soaps get jobs handed to them left and right, but she’s still struggling?

I really don’t like the fact that she’s now financially dependent on a baby daddy, whoever he is. Career driven Sally should already have gotten a job, and an abortion. It happened on DOOL, it can happen here.

I don’t want her to have or lose a baby because I don’t want to see how “the call of motherhood” changes the character, whom I’m starting to like less and less.

I don’t need another “she was transformed for the better, by having a child” story in freaking 2023.

The Diane, Phyllis and Billy characters are self-centered and who should’ve remained child-free/less. They didn’t, and look how that turned out! Vomit.

You guys don’t enjoy Summer and Kyle fighting over who has the worse mother? It’s kind of unfair, though, because Summer will always win. I must admit, I never saw their relationship going from semi-incestuous to a series of “your mom” insults. Nice swerve, writers!

I hate what they’re doing with Jack. Haaate. Being a fussbudget on the sidelines while Diane springs her trap is such a thankless storyline.

boes, what a charming childhood photo of Billy! I believe Buttbiscuit was his stage name and he was operated via foot in ass.

Did Sally go banana boating in an effort to pass the kid off as Nick’s?

For years now I've noticed that whenever Christine is wearing a blazer or a suit jacket the sleeves usually extend over most of her hands. I thought maybe the show just wasn't fitting her wardrobe to her size but now I wonder if the sleeve length was meant to hide something. Hope she's okay.

No info on LLB’s health, but I seem to recall a story about her being self conscious about her hands because she had really long fingers. Rumor was that she demanded extra long sleeves to disguise them.

With all the talk about money laundering, there has been no talk of the criminal enterprise that is going to create the cash that needs to be laundered. Dirty money doesn’t just appear. The whole point of money laundering is to take cash money earned from a criminal enterprise and somehow move it into the legitimate financial system. It is difficult to do if there is a large amount of money involved.

I agree with others that Tara should reappear and claim her son. She was charged with a white collar crime. She probably could have copped a plea and paid a fine. No way she be given a long prison sentence.

This was mentioned on another board I frequent and I hadn't really thought about it at the time.

It's just more lazy writing. Show could have gotten some good story out of Billy and Lily's actual sessions/attempt to save their relationship. Seeing the progression of them coming to the conclusion that they're not meant to be together anymore OR that they really do love each other and want to "do the work" to stay together could have been good to watch (at this point I'd be fine with either conclusion). A simple office set and a day player to be the therapist was all that was needed. Instead, we get yet another "Tell, don't show" storyline.

Whatever...

Did anyone notice that right after Nick and Sally had sex, she opened the food , handled the food WITHOUT WASHING HER HANDS and got nauseated? Yuck, I wonder exactly what it was that she smelled.

Yeesh, that's only slightly less bad than when characters have sex in an office and then just put their clothes back on and go back to work. So their bodily fluids are not only on the furniture but also on the documents, their devices, the phone, etc. It's disgusting, especially when they're not the only one using that stuff, such as the CEO offices in both NE and Jabot.

Whatever...

Very lazy indeed. They went to all the trouble to decide to work it out only to give up immediately. What was said in the session?  I’m guessing they want to clear the path so their precious Chelsea can jump in the sack with him with a clean conscience.

Abby can get pregnant, she can't carry to term.  I can't remember the medical details, mainly because I was too bored the first time they discussed them.

I believe it's called Fetal Self Preservation Syndrome or FSPS. It's when a fetus knows that it's soon to be parent is so heinous and fucked up that it bails voluntarily.

Eject! Eject!

Is Abby the one who has a "hostile womb" or does she just have too much scar tissue from when Ben's son Max pushed her down the stairs and she miscarried?

It looked like something she'd run off herself on a toy sewing machine

After getting a better look at the outfit on today's show, I think it's the lace trim that transforms what could be called an unfortunate fashion choice into a ridiculous one - like if you walk down the street dressed in something like that, people will point at your backside and laugh at you.

Phyllis: Waaah. Why is Summer making these choices? Daniel explains. Phyllis: If all that’s true, then why is Summer making these choices? The art of listening is lost on our dear Phyllis.

Jack is now playing the role of Mr. Manners. I think it was JsNana who pointed out that Diane is very skilled in telling her audience at the time exactly what they want to hear, and she was piling it high and deep for Jack. Then the poor fool has some kind of pterodactyl lurking outside his window, bony wings pressed to the glass, face cracking like an egg. He just can’t win.

It must be a national day of telling off. Lily fired Audra, Devon told her to get lost, Audra told Devon about himself, Devon and Tucker exchanged unpleasantries, Ashley blew off Tucker and now Tucker somehow ends up with the worst punishment of all. Find some energy and run like hell, bro.

The Harrison/Tara/Summer thing has been bugging me, too. Like others said, she committed a white-collar crime, but by all accounts appeared to be a loving mom. There's no reason she should be completely out of Harrison's life. And does Tara have parents/siblings? Even a throwaway line of "Harrison has a video call with Tara's parents later" would go a long way.

Also, are CEO and COO the only positions any company in GC are allowed to have?

I remember that Tara said her only living relative was a brother, and they weren't close.  That seemed to presage a possible appearance by the brother later, if storyline dictated, but nothing came of it.

That reminds me of how few soap characters, especially new characters, seem to have parents at all, much less living ones.  A pretty unlucky bunch!

Wait, what? Jack is okay with Diane stealing from Nikki in order to prove herself to Stark. Ehhh. Apparently he's clueless on the concepts of aiding & abetting and co-conspiracy. Sigh.

Ashley had on sheer black hose. I didn't realize that was fashionable again. Meanwhile, I don't understand why Phyllis changed outfits just to meet Daniel at the coffeehouse and whine about Summer.

Tucker said secksay times with Ashley was fire. Are we to assume there was a burning sensation involved? He might want to get checked for STIs, lol. 🔥🔥🔥

Daniel, oy, getting between your sister and your mommy is not the way you want to go. You best stay out of it because Phyllis is nucking futz on the subject of Diane.

Please, why would Tucker have hard copies of the Jabot info Diane purloined for him? Digitize it and put it in the cloud, ya moron. It's 2023, not 1923.

Tucker brought down by a text tone. Unbelievable. Bet now he wishes Devon was still deaf, hah hah.

Nate, Natey, Nate Nate Nate. If you're lucky Devon or Lily will warn you about Audra before you bring the corporate fox into the NM henhouse. Or not.

I think Glam Club is weirdest nightclub ever. People go there all hours of the day or night to sit around nursing drinks and zoning out. It's basically a bar with gaudy couches and a dance floor. Phyllis and Tucker scheming together could be fun though.

This is such an ill conceived storyline that I just want to tear my hair out. Its amazing that a good actress is so bad at acting for Stark like she wants in on the action. She sounds so fake when she's playing up to him. How soon before she has to hop into bed with him to convince him? Jack is so damn dumb going along with it.
